"3. Point to the TV running the Vbukit TV App and its there."
You have to have a Smart TV with the app installed for it to work.

They say if your chromecast is whitelisted...but unless they changed something google will see whos using the app by it being whitelisted and I dont think they can distribute the app like they are. I have a whitelisted chromecast bit the website of view bucket will not finish activating an account when you sign up. Smells kinda fishy

Some of the links like help and such seem broken, but if you're rooted with Eureka-ROM or a developer, you can still use it.
@Kyonz just added Vbukit to the Team Eureka whitelist, so you don't need to visit the Vbukit website.
You need to install two apps to make this work:
Vbukit for Chromecast
Vbukit User
To operate it:
Run Vbukit for Chromecast
Dismiss the petition request
Select your Chromecast from the Cast icon in the upper right - this will bring up a QR code on your TV.
Run the Vbukit (User) app (tapping Send to TV in the Vbukit for Chromecast app will launch this)
Tap Send File
Select media type
Select media file(s) - make sure you tap the upper-right of the thumbnail to select/deselect it, otherwise it'll try to just open it normally
Tap Send
Scan the QR code on your TV
The selected media should appear on Chromecast.
Use the zoom control and forward/back to control what's displayed
I'm going to "sign" the petition to help the dev get a public release, because I can definitely see this being very useful for teachers and other people doing presentations like @Notrega from this thread.
One thing I can't figure out... I can't disconnect Vbukit for Chromecast from my Chromecast, so the barcode just sits there until I run another Chromecast app.
Ahh, I see Virtual Bucket sent me an email (it must send to the account from the Play Store download) with login info.
Very slick!

I've heard about this app before....it was a month or so ago..a few weeks before Google "opened the gates" for that last batch of apps(Vimeo, Plex, Avia, RealPlayer, Red Bull, etc..) to be able to "work" with the Chromecast. I've been kinda wondering what it was actually used for and now I finally see its use, and it seems like a pretty darn useful app that can handle all different kinds of media, including webpages from your phone/tablet(This is pretty dang cool feature if ya ask me!!). But my question for you is: What's the difference in those two apps("Vbukit for Chromecast" and "Vbukit User") AND do we HAVE to use BOTH apps in order to make use of all of VBU Kit's features ? Sorry if this is a silly question, but I just don't want to download two different things and sign up for this app without fully knowing what I'm gettin myself into, ya know?
Thanks

A very valid question...
The Vbukit (Virtual Bucket) model consists of two endpoints. The Sender, where the media lives, and the Receiver, where the media is (dis)played.
Vbukit (User) is the Sender.
Vbukit for Chromecast is the Receiver. It's really just a "launcher" for the Vbukit receiver on Chromecast, since Chromecast has no interface.
There are also Vbukit for Google TV & Tablets, as well as other platforms.
You can also read more about Vbukit on its site.
Interestingly enough, you could technically get this to work on a non rooted chromecast if you intercepted an http address and forced the chromecast to navigate to the page.
Would there be any interest in an application that did this? like some sort of http man in the middle thing (not sure how I could present it).
Just wondering if anyone would use it.

The author seems pretty set on getting it out to the public with the whole petition thing and all, I suspect they'd love a workaround.
Not working on unrooted CC, cannot find device.. Any workaround (other than rooting)?.. Sounds as an interesting app to stream not white listed media..

For same-type content, you can multi-select before you send so you don't have to keep re-scanning the code.
Essentially the code scan seems to be a "session" so whatever you send applies to that "session" - after that you need to reconnect.
Is there a way to have apps such as Netflix send to Chromecast by default?
I have a tablet dedicated to chromecast control but have to tell it to use chromecast each time in each app.
I'd settle for having to tap the cast icon each time but that I have to then specify which chromecast to send to when I only have one is infruriating.

While I'm sure it could be done but it wouldn't make sense to do because what happens when you want to watch something on the tablet or phone?
Consider this...With the right TV the two Cast button presses are in lieu of having to change the input on the TV since selecting a CCast will change the input for you and even turn the TV on if it was off.
Also, as mentioned elsewhere, the Cast button is designed to a pop-up menu, giving the option to disconnect, as well as see the label of the Chromecast.
I can understand the convenience, but I actually prefer the two-tap, with the AllCast beta which supported "always use this Chromecast" for single-click use, I had accidentally tapped and turned on the TV. Then I had to get the TV remote to turn the TV off, since Chromecast doesn't do that.
Anyone know how to play two differant movies on two differant chromecast at the same time from the same device .every since the net flix update i cant choose two differant chromecasts frome one device.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Free mobile app
Seems you cannot. Netflix remembers what the device was playing and where, so even if you reboot the device it will return to the same state. Switching profiles disconnects Chromecast, so that doesn't work either.
Long story short, one device can watch one video. Chromecast does not count as a "device" - it's just an extended screen for the controlling device, which follows the DIAL model.
This might work..
Create a second account on the device (2nd Android account) and a 2nd profile in Netflix
Install Netflix on the 2nd Android account
On the 1st (main) Android account, get your movie of choice going and then reboot your phone so that it is no longer connected
When the phone reboots, log into the 2nd Android account, open Netflix, connect to the other Chromecast and see if that works. You'd be oln a separate Android profile, separate Netflix profile, separate Chromecast. It might work

Good idea. I definitely know it does not work on the same Android profile.

My device is rooted, and it still doesn't work. It worked with my Moto X Play. I have a 2015 Sony Bravia TV.
Can you describe what you did to get it working?

goto settings>display>cast (last option) , click the screen to cast , better to play from youtube app and then press the cast option from there it will only cast the youtube
Its working fine for me, everytime but only with the cast devices or TV , yes it don't have wireless cast ( not needed for hardware casting) so it work on any soft based cast systems , you can use third part apps to get cast/mirror on device

Remove # from this line on build.prop, save and reboot.
I'd rather not do that, as it breaks OTA updates.

Well, why not do it temporarily to see if it works. Can always change back.
Not as if OTA updates are happening every day.

Dear all,
while I ve done all the appropriate steps ( I think so) to install google home, create room and link chromecast with room I cannot control chromecast via google home though.
Whatever I say to my phone it turns to google search.
Phone and chromecast are on the same unrestricted network and I can normally cast youtube or other apps to chromecast via my phone.
Any ideas?
THX A LOT IN ADVANCED GUYS.
