So.... after being out for half a year... a extended SLIM battery has not been released yet?? I mean, I know i'm not the most "technical" person in the world.. but honestly?? how HARD can it possibly be??!! doesn't make one bit of sense.... and they still haven't made an OEM battery cover.. with a kick stand??!! ridiculous.. the person in charge of the accessories.. needs to be fired...
sorry just a little rant.. after seeing my friend buy a extended slim 1750mah battery for his EVO.... which is a HD2 replica..... the battery sizes are identical... and I'm not even asking for 1750... 1500mah is all i really need.. if i had an extra 2-3 hours of battery life.. then it would be PERFECT for a full days use
I posted similar thing awhile back with some moronic replies saying that there is not a market for that.
These people, rather, want you to believe that it's better to buy ebay/chinese fakes for $5-10 bucks that, ironically, labeled "1500" or "1600mah"! I dont understand why other phones, with similar form factor to the HD2, manage to get standard size extended battery with the added 200-300mah, but the HD2 only get +70mah (1300mah) from Mugen.

hear hear. The thing that annoys me the most is the battery life on the HD2, or rather, the pace on which it drains. The biggest improvement would be a battery with a bigger capacity.
How hard can it be? probably just as hard as trying to fit 2 litres of water into a 1 litre bottle

i think thats a slight overexaggeration... first of all take the evo for example.. they managed a standard size 1700mah battery... you're telling me our battery with practically the same size as the evo.. can't even get a 1500?? no sir this isn't a technical issue.. trust me.. this is just bad marketing on the hTC HD2 part.. thats all.
Are the physical dimensions of the battery the same?

Nope - biggest improvement would be a device that uses much less energy, so a battery with a capacity of 250mh would be enough for two days full of work.
the largest capacity for the stock battery size is so far mugen at 1300..
but its very very expensive.. and comes with only 70mAh more juice.. wth man..
I have designed a solution for the short battery life of the HD2, it solves a couple of problems ive seen complaints about and will increase the battery capacity beyond anything available currently, and its not and ugly lump im hoping to put it in production very soon, the only compromise is extra thickness of the phone...

My problem with this is that manufacturers start making power management decisions for me. They start reducing power output from wifi and bluetooth, they restrict standards on things like wifi (allowing 802.11g but not n), they limit screen brightness, etc. All in order to say that their unit last longer on a single battery charge.
I'm sure that the technology is there to have processors that run twice as fast as ours yet still fit in the HD2 device. They just can't make one that will last on such as small battery for more than 10 minutes. That's fine with me. Make it and let the user select how fast the processor runs.
They won't do that because they would still have to advertise that the battery lasted 10 minutes and there would be consumers out there saying, your device needs to use "much less energy, so a battery with a capacity of 250mh would be enough for two days full of work."
Have heard various less than positive reports on the battery life of the two devices in the thread title & just wanted to hear from user experience, especially people swapping from the HD2 to the HD7, if it had better battery life?
I moved over from a HD2. I'd say the battery life is roughly the same if not slightly better on the HD7.

I would agree
I can't comment on the HD2 but one thing I would say is to not be put off by the initial HD7 battery performance. Mine has improved dramatically over the last few days.
i will say i was a lil worried at first as it was great for first 2 charges then it dropped really bad ie lost half the battery over night with no use, BUT, now it has sorted itself out the battery lasts really well. I get way more use than i did on my desire i mean way more like i would say 50% more. With all top end phones battery isnt going to be there strong point but i think wp7 is really good on this point esp as you don't have stupid apps running in the background draining it like on android.

Well that's what used to bug me about the Android devices that I have had, that the battery performance was less than great. This was especially noticeable on the X10 I had for a little while.
It depends on how you use it, my usage the battery doesn't survive the same sort of punishment my Desire does, my usage is mainly as a internet device on 3g, and compared to the Desire it really does drain the battery, as a mp3 player it'll probably piss all over the desire for battery usage, I'd take stock of how you use your phone and plan accordingly.

Like you I am a fairly heavy web user on any device I have so if this particular activity effects the battery life on the HD7 a lot then that's not so good!
Way better than the HD2, and unlike the HD2 it seems to be even drain the whole time, unlike the HD2 which seems to get to 10% left and within a few mins be at 0. I made a good 10-20 mins of phone calls on my HD7 when it said battery is critcally low and it didnt turn off even after the calls.
I had just gotten my HD7 2 days ago, but my battery sucks big time... Its almost like it is leaking badly that during a meeting, I was just messing with the marketplace and the windows live messenger, my battery dropped from about 50% to almost 0 (for the first charge). After second and third charge with lower average use, it still able to last me for a day (8.30am to 8.00pm). Lets hope its like what you guys said, need to stabilize the battery after a few charges. By the way, my HD2 is able to withstand almost 2-3 days in WM6.5, and about a day use for Android Desire HD OS (about 35% upon reaching 11pm from 8.30am).
My battery life sucks big time. If it is in standby it loses 5% battery per 2 hours for no reason, i already disabled the updates from microsoft and my email and calander syncs every hour. And when i'm on internet or marketplace my battery drops 50% in 1 hour. I have charged it know 4-5 times, I hope it will be better. I only charge the battery when it's on critical level.
Poor Battery Life
The battery drained very fast, less than a day with heavy used.
Another bad thing is, took more than 3 hours to fully charged.
No indicator to show the %, very difficult to monitor the usage.

You mentioned "5%" "50%" . . . .
How you get the % to show? or You just estimate.
I think Roaming has a big effect on Battery Life.
My battery has been fine, Awesome Battery life... Until I went to uni, I can get no T-Mobile signal in lecture halls so it roams to Orange, this seemed to kill my battery a lot halfway through the day the battery indicator was less than half full.
I switched roaming off. But I found something interesting, once again marketplace wouldn't open. (it always happens when I'm scrolling en clicking things very fast in the marketplace). So I had to restart my hd7. The battery was 10%, after the restart it was filled for 40% very strange.
How do you know you are connected to the internet?
Is there a way to see and stop the connection since that also takes lotof battery and ofcourse if you are on a limited plan that would call for a huge dent on the bills
So far, after 2 days, battery life has improved greatly since the first day. Much better than most smartphones I have used, and certainly way better than my current Evo even after using it for months. I suspect battery life will only get better as I break it in.
And yes, weak signals can cause significant battery drain regardless of what device you are using. The weaker the signal, the harder the phone tries to find or keep that signal.
Has anyone tested to see how badly the battery life is impacted by changing the brightness setting to high?
I was checking this phone out, and found that changing that setting really made a significant difference in the quality of the user experience... it didn't seem washed-out, like it does on the default setting. I'm just wondering how much of a beating the battery will take though.
Right now, I'm really leaning towards the Dell Venue... primarily because of the quality of the screen and the better battery. I don't care about the physical keyboard, so an HD7 might meet my needs if I can run it at full brightness.
Hi, For those who got nexus 6 somehow or who can just guess:
How much is battery going to be ?
Also when they say 8 hours of usage from 15mins charge, 8 hours of video? Or browsing? Or calling ? Or.... 8 hours of what usage ? How long does it take for it to fully charge? And how many percent does the battery get charged after 15mins?
This is just the most awesome thing its like its built for me , only problem is battery life ! (my nexus 4 batterylife is not good, but not unbelievable !) i always carry my nexus 4 charger with myself !(in my pocket)
+ , i hope my father will have some money till than :| or i should give up my espresso machine

Its got simmilar specs as the note 4, so you can expect simmilar performance.
Also, dont expect it to arrive anytime soon around the world.

Embargo+Not final software which is why they pulled the link.
Also, the title is very misleading, the difference in life is an hour apart between devices.

They've only said how many hours in how many minutes of charge. But if I had to guess, it's probably 25% in 15 minutes. And the 8 hours is most likely standby time.

One hour isn't bad, especially if the software is still being tweaked. Were you able to see the link at some point, or how do you know there is an hour difference between the devices?
Just found the link, even better, only about 50 minutes separate the two.

Just one last Question : do you think that quick charge can damage the battery(lifespan) ?
Thats still great!! Awesome ! Even if that isnt the final result(tweak ect) its great!
My nexus 4 battery is so small!!! I always keep the charger in my pocket! + a solar panel connected to a power bank(900mah) in trips

Yes, that's why i'm putting custom kernel on mine, and lower the current. Both batteries are amazing, and last long enough, only 50 mins difference, but Nexus 6 display is also bigger, so there is that.

As long as the battery lasts until the next nexus comes out. I'm OK. Surely this has been tested enough to get a year out of the battery. Time will tell. But it does tapper off after it has so much charge. I'm putting a little faith in battery technology. And maybe I could use custom kernel and then flash stock when I NEED a quick charge

Ahh, the good ol' battery life questions. Most stupid/ridiculous/irrelevant question anyone can ask because it is very much subjective. 4 hours SOT could only mean 2 for someone else, and maybe closer to 6 for others.
There are so many things that can influence how good or bad battery life is for each and every individual - some things can make a significant difference. Everything from the apps you use, those that are signal in the background, screen brightness, cell signal quality, are you using wifi, is your phone in airplane mode, do you play games and if so do they also require an internet connection.
Battery life questions and more than that, battery stats pictures drive me absolutely insane. Those that post them are clearly highlighting their lack of knowledge and general stupidity.

I sure hope it doesn't hurt the battery. I'm not an expert in that department. This is the bad part about a newer technology. Maybe that's why apple is always 3 years behind. Lol

The charging current itself shouldn't really impact the wear on the battery. The only increased wear would be due to the increased heat generated by faster charging.
That said, I think it's a good trade-off. My Nexus 5 charges to full in about 1h20m, and I'm able to deal with the lackluster battery life as a result.

Who here actually works for a battery company? We have no idea what they have done to maybe make this efficient.

I have to say I find the battery life to be outstanding if you are using the chinese rom. If using the global one it is really poor. There is another thread on here about battery life. Have a look at that
How much SOT on chinese rom?

In my opinion the chiense rom is much better although there are obviously some chinese apps there too
I'm reviewing the phone at the moment, my results on GeekBench 06:30:30 for runtime and a score of 3905 with the screen on maximum brightness. I've used the phone with dual-SIM and single-SIM and not struggled with it at all. MIUI 6.3.31 and it's the 64/3GB model. Hope that's of some help!
Battery life is usually good. SOT around 5 hrs for me and I usually play games.
However stand by is really odd one both the roms. Sometimes overnight it consumes 1%-3% sometime s 20%-25%, I still can't figure out why.

No, I haven't updated my signature from so long.
I have used nexus 5, galaxy s6(lost), lg g4 and oneplus 2 after Lg g2. For me galaxy s6 was the best device I have ever used.
Mi5 has a mediocre camera nothing exceptional about it xiaomi is creating hype about 4-axis and things however in reality it can't capture full hd video smoothly.
For sure Mi5 has better sound and battery and chipset but software wise I think any other phone out is better than this MIUI crap.
and believe me MIUI can never get fixed until and unless they changed their framework completely. As of now MIUI 7 is based on MM but it doesn't have a single feature of MM so what is the use of such OS. MIUI is for users who just want to keep applying themes and do nothing else.
I am never going to buy xiaomi again.
Hoping I get my hands on an AOSP or CM ROM soon or else I have to sell this ****.

I really don't know what is wrong but I experience the same on both the ROM's, yesterday I got 7.2.12 and after that it consumed only 3 % overnight even with alarm on.
Also, I have one more strange bug whenever I start playing coc my wifi gets disconnected and it gets disconnected randomly too, are you facing any such thing like this.
You have the wakelock qpnp_fg_memaccess that is draining battery. Check with wackelock detector..
Same happened to me one night from 40% to 6% in 6 hours..
This happened because Qualcomm introduced a new feature called Fuel Gauge that is managing the battery and is not working really like it should..
Strange.. I used my phone heavily(not gaming of course) and hardly to hit 70% in 8 hours during day time.

My Mi5 is doing great on the battery... I use it at work i use it at home... during the night it drain around 5% max. Normally i can say it can last 1,5 days...

MI5 is one of the crazy device ever! Once you receive the phone you will be keep busy with experiment. Some people will tell battery life is outstanding and some like me will say battery life is poor.
My impression about MI5 is, usually after buying a phone we try to use it hassle free. But MI5 will create lots of confusion and make you trend to experiment lots of things until you get the perfection.
Currently the global ROM is most worst ever ROM and it will make you frustrated. Some people will tell China ROM is better but eventually until unless you are Chinese, you will never like chinese things!
Just now flashed CM13 and looks impressive!
The way you charge helps with endurance as well
Try getting into the habit of not letting your battery level drop below 15%. Charge it from there to 100%. Was a big item on xda some months ago about expanding the quality of a modern smartphones battery.
I hav bought a secound hand oneplus 3t and hav been using it since a couple of weeks i have a lot of battery drain when the phone is sitting idle jst like browsing chrome or something . Some of the examples of my drain is charged to 100% and after 32 min of use the battery drops to 80-83%
i have tried almost all the custom roms and the stock roms I get only around 3-4hrs sot only on the stock marshmallow rom i hit 5 hrs need help
really bad.
You'll need to provide a bit more info to figure out exactly what's causing the drain. Download BetterBatteryStats, that will allow you to see which Wakelocks are involved.
Also, how old is the phone? Considering the usage and charging habits of the previous owner, its possible the battery itself might have degraded since batteries do degrade over time.

To do that, for an accurate reading you'd euther need a multimeter or any other capacity meter, but i believe you'd have to open your phone up even if you did have one of those devices since the battery isn't user accessible.
However, you can also use apps such as Accubattery which give you a similar reading. It wont be as accurate but it'll give you a general idea.
