Can you feel the difference?
If not, then keep it on.
I keep it always on with the condition that *activate* it only after battery level goes below 20%.
Otherwise what's the point of owning a smart phone that can do all these wonderful things if you keep stamina mode on (which basically curtails all those features and background tasks).
So, is that the main purpose of Stamina mode? To keep background tasks at bay and stop them from using CPU, data and battery life?
If so, then I'll keep Stamina mode on all of the time since there are plenty of people out there looking for apps that do exactly this.

The stamina mode stops most of the background services, turns data and Wi-Fi and sync services off and also reduces the Max CPU Frequency to save battery
But it can be activated only after your battery reaches 20%-15%
As your device is quad core it will put two or more CPU's offline and this may reduce performance
But it's obvious that if one turns stamina mode on it means he needs battery to last so one will not play games or do such heavy activity and that's the reason it can be activated only after 20%
If you want to stop background services then use GREENIFY

Hi Prasad
What makes you say this?
I appear to be able to turn on "stamina mode" at any point in time. There is no activation threshold that I can see. Simply on/off toggle. Estimated battery time immediately increases with activation too (implying that's it's active straight away).
I'm using UK stock build 23.0.A.2.105
There's a separate "low-battery mode", which is triggered "...when the battery is below a preset level"
The options I have under settings / power management are:
"stamina mode"
"ultra stamina mode"
"low-battery mode"
"location-based Wi-Fi"
Queue background data"
"App power consumption"
"battery usage"
Sorry btw if I'm missing something obvious here. Your signature would imply that you know your business!

np dude.
Sounds like they've expanded the stamina options on the latest handsets, as compared to the can and piece of string you use

the best although a bit demanding way is to check with BetterBatteryStats,
you could also try disabling not-absolutely-necessary features (GPS, some data syncs etc.) to check which decreases battery consumption,
there's also Autorun Manager with which you can disable unnecessary startup apps (lots of them are set to autorun after device start, some may try to update over the net too frequently)
I wonder what firmware you're on... mine (LB1) shows wifi status on the summary screen as well. my phone used to stay awake all night too, until I started turning off wifi for the night (FYI, I shut down the cell data connection when I arrive home, so it's not on for the night either)

Mine is LA1.
And my wifi is off as well as data connection during the night.
Also i realized something wierd. If i activate 3g, Android OS drains battery more than 70% percent. If i activate 2g, then Android OS drains only 10-15%. DAta connection is on for both. There could be a problem with the LA1 kernel maybe but i am not sure.
From what i've read, while (really) sleeping, the note shouldn't take more than 5%, and that seems normal/logical to me. But in my case, it drains 70% and it seems even in plane mode, i just don't get it...

Try disabling Fast Dormancy, it does generate wakelocks on my SGN as my network doesn't support the feature.
Dial *#*#9900#*#* and select "Disable fast dormancy".
That's good for reducing some wakelocks anyway.

I tried it and it worked as expected. Are you entering the full string (both numbers & symbols) on the default phone dialer?

I installed betterbatterystats but i did not get it very much.
Should i check something or change some of the settings?
or the program does what is necessary by itself?
I think this is not the case because my phone still does not enter into sleep mode.
@knightnz
I disabled fast dormancy. But i like to ask something.
What is fast dormancy?
Edit: I checked my phone now. There left 75% battery after 10 hours less than normal use. Data and 3g is on. However i unchecked "backup my data". I think this made me gain 10 hours of battery life
BadAss Battery Monitor (free)
Press menu and "App sucker". Go to "wake ups" or something like that. Let the phone run in standby for some while before checking. I bet it's an app that won't go to sleep.
I used to get this quite often but I found a way to stop it. Basically when i disconnected the charger when the screen was off the phone always stayed awake the only way to put it back to normal was to reset the cache in download mode. So i tried disconnecting the charger after putting the screen on first ( unlock phone) and it never happened again.

I have installed BetterBatterStats. When i checked partial wakelocks, the higher count is for AlarmManager (Android System). And the higher percentage (0,5%) is for PowerAMP.
Does this mean anything?
May i ask, how many % does your note consume every x hours? Making a report with your kernel/rom would be good, don't you think? Maybe a poll?
Hi,
I am using Juice Defender Ultimate on my SXS to pump up battery life and it helps a lot. This Stamina mode on the Z - is this about the same thing offered by Sony right out of the box? W. Does it also offer detailed options to modify the settings to my liking or has is it a more radical impact on the system?
It's sort of the same, perhaps a bit more limited since it gives you less control while also being more effective. Basically when you turn it on it tries to force a deep sleep after a while in standby and it turns off the data connection if you have no exclusions.
With exclusions the data connection will most likely stay on but it'll still go in deep sleep and only wakes up for apps in your exclusion list.
I have to say it works extremely well. Battery drain in standby with stamina mode on and a few exclusions (Gmail, FB Messenger, WhatsApp, GTalk) is virtually zero.
Thats what juice defender and power saver should've been.
You information is informative ambroos.
Your from esato? Correct me if im wrong.

It should have more impact on the device. Juice defender may have some similarities with stamina mode but let's also consider the integration of the feature.
1st juice defender is a 3rd party option and most probably has only limited things which it can do to the device itself. While the stamina mode is an integrated part of the OS so we could expect a 100% compatibility with all it's features.
It's basically like this...
Maybe you could compare it to a real life situation like this.
Battery defender = sleeping pills
Stamina mode = natural sleep

I'm everywhere Was here before I was on Esato.
There are times when Stamina Mode can't be enforced though. Then you get a notification that for example Google Plus is preventing the phone from entering Stamina Mode. Usually when those apps are doing some background syncing. But in general it works really well.
and now the big question will adding some 3rd parts app like juice defender or simmilar increase battery life even moar ??
I think installing a third party app like battery defender will interfere with stamina mode because you then have two similar features trying to do the same thing which might give you the opposite results. I think
The main problem with Stamina Mode is that it won't actually stop services/apps. Since I have Gmail and Exchange syncing Stamina just notifies me that those services are preventing sleep; obviously I wouldn't want stop those from syncing. I really wish it would just allow a set 'burst' mode, let you specify the interval and force all syncing/updates to occur during that window.

I'm still struggling with this - when you wake the phone again, everything starts up again, and starts syncing. Doesn't the surge of data transfer on waking cancel out the battery saved while asleep?

Suppose you are in a meeting or at the movies, you could save a lot of battery if g3/g4 is switched off. If you check every 2 minutes your phone I can imagine it doesn't matter although I suppose they switch the antennas off after longer inactivity

Not sure. I use it with exclusions so data stays on anyway. Not sure if it actually does anything but the battery does last long and the notifications I want still arrive...

Are you sure the exceptions aren't Smart Connect? Stamina Mode is just a toggle, at least for me.
Try to tap the name of it, not the toggle

Hello.
Just bought my Razr i (4.1.2 stock) and need some info or help please.
I´m "dont talk to me" user, so my phone can happen to be untouched for whole week until somebody calls or messages me. That way I´d like to max out idle battery life.
I think that those questions are more on Android than on phone, but still... Anyway:
I clear my apps in "task manager" everytime, I use GPS/WIFI/DATA only at a time I use the phone and its apps directly, and I have set smart action which disables GPS,Wifi and (background) data once I turn the display off. I have 4% of battery down after night (9h idle) with flight mode, and 70% idle / 30% screen + android in battery status.
Is it enaugh to max out its sleep potential to prolong battery life at idle state, or is there anything else to do?
If it is not naughty, I´d also like to disable some more apps and processes to make it "light walking" machine, but don´t know what is the purpose of those (MotoCare, QuickView, but processes with android icoon are more difficult to recognize and possibly disable).
Can anybody help please?
Thx for possible answers

To completely disable motocare you need root access. However, you can kill it for a couple of days if you clear its data. Vehicle mode usually runs in the background so you might wanna disabe it. Youtube and facebook ALWAYS run in the background, regardless of whether you're even online. I suggest you remove facebook as well if you have it as the newest version takes up almost 40 mb of RAM. You could use the web version which is just the same.
Thank you. Helped a lot!.
Also changed smart actions for Battery Saver at a time when I turn the display off....
Well, waiting after "new stuff at home" goes away, there is chance to get over 10 days of idle. That´s my boy
Hi, I got a new Sony Xperia T yesterday, and it's on 4.1.2 (it's bootloader unlocked which really sucks because I was looking forward to getting some custom ROMs). I installed JuiceDefender as Stamina Mode isn't (yet, hopefully it does come soon) available on the Xperia T, but I seem to be getting the Stamina Mode icon in my status bar. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help is greatly appreciated.
1) If your bootloader is unlocked you CAN install custom kernels
2) Juice defender is not needed on JB roms (IMHO)
3) That is not the stamina mode icon, it is extended standby mode. Look for the setting in power management in settings.
Thanks for the reply:
Sorry, I meant it is bootloader locked, not unlocked, haha
Do you think you could elaborate on this and explain why? I found that the battery drained really quickly so I thought the best thing to do would be to get JuiceDefender, but I am certainly open to suggestions.
Thanks, I read elsewhere that it was the stamina mode icon so that's what got me confused!
The ROM handles that stuff better. I have not used JD since I got onto ICS. In the end it becomes more of a battery hog than it can save.
With stock apps like smart connect and location based wifi you can set up profiles that do what JD does.
If you have the phone new then it will take a week or so for the battery to settle down, so do expect big battery drain for a week, then it will settle down.
Thanks for the informative comments, I've read so many mixed reviews of JuiceDefender but I have uninstalled it and instead installed AutomateIt, and created triggers so that when I turn the screen off, it turns WiFi & mobile data off. Do you think this is a good choice? Once again, thanks for your help!
No, Leave the phone to do it itself
Extended stanby mode turns off data when the screen is off.
I suggest that everybody goes at least a month without trying any of these apps, you will see that (IMHO) they don't make any difference and can, in fact, make things worse by clashing with what the hone itself wants to do.
Ah okay, I shall try just using Sony's standby mode, and I'll uninstall AutomateIt. Hopefully this helps my battery (and hopefully stamina mode comes to the Xperia T soon too!). Thank you for all of your help.
I left my phone off for about an hour with extended standby mode enabled, but when I returned to use it, the 'History details' page showed that the WiFi was still on the whole time the screen was off:
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mine does exactly the same, not sure why and when it does this it doesn't really seem to save any battery at all is this normal behavior from the phone?

What is more beneficial to the battery and which one will overright the other one?

Don't same-day bump.
Sleep mode will override your mobile data setting, but not in a manner that you will ever be able to see with your own eyes (apart from delayed syncing). Otherwise, sleep mode would do absolutely nothing (as if data were on, it wouldn't override, and if data were off, there would be nothing to override).

...right, because HTC's built in Power Saver = "data connection."
"Power Saver" will, surprise, save more power than sleeping your mobile data connection because it hits additional power draws such as screen brightness and CPU clockspeed. Neither will override the other, strictly speaking.
