Well, i have noticed that if i lift my finger a little bit from the screen (a few mm), this one is like if i still touching it only responses when a lift more my finger, so i cant type fast, anyone else is having this issue?
Sorry for my bad english
Yes, do a search in questions sub forum. But several people including myself have this Phantom touch issue. Screen is too sensitive.
As someone who uses phone as Mini Computer for.presentations , proposals with photos sent in desktop
Email- this could be a problem for typing.
Is sensitivity reduced tempered glass protector ?

Even at over a full mm? Is glove mode enabled by any chance?

ok it doenst happen when i lay the phone down on the surface and click on the screen it works perfectly
however when i hold it with my right hand and touch the middle of the screen with my thumb
it opens up phone dialer, or appdrawer or vibrante cause it clicks the capacitive button.
when i hold it with my left hand it gets a little bit better but it still does.
if i hold the nexus carefully and touch the screen , it works, when i hold it like this
the things gets better when i put a thick case like otterbox..
is this a hardware issue? ( found similar video on youtube)
my phone is rooted but can i still get a replacement phone?( already put everything back to stock)
and if i do get a replacement, are they going to charge me with anything?
my current nexus one trackball doenst scroll up but everything else works.
How many of you guys got a replacement even though your phone was rooted?
Make sure part of your hand doesn't touch the screen.

it's a hardware issue...
all you can do is not grip the phone too closely to the edge of the screen. It registers touches even if you are not touching the screen completely. But that to be a problem you have to have giant hands
I've had this happen to me once since I had it from launch day. It did happen with my Otterbox commuter series, and a clarivue screen protector. But I turned it off and on again and it was fine.
anyway as stevio jobsio whould say, you're holding it wrong

no i am not touching any part of the screen. i made sure i wasnt touching the screen.
but it does happen when i hold my phone closely to the edges.
i never had this kind of issues with other touch screen phones..
Well I dunno... One finger at a time and your good to go unless you got fat hands lol

I can confirm that my device too does this. When lying in bed I browse the net with one hand and try and scroll....the edges of the touchscreen seem to register depression when the chassis is pushed or gripped too hard also.
It's a minor irritation to me, but I agree it is a hardware issue.
Hi guys I'm running into problem that the capacitive buttons sometime do not behave and failed to respond. I have seen a guy on youtube also complaining about the same thing and have it fixed by updating to 1.29. However mine's already on 1.29. Anyone else have the same issue?
Do you use a screen protector that covers the buttons?

Not facing any such issue, however it does require to hit at correct place on the bar. I observed lot of times in initial days I was hitting slightly above the back button

My Xperia S has similar problem... There is point which you need to search and find ( it's easy once u get used to it)
always touch on that pt and the phone should always respond..
I've been trying to get accustomed to swiping through whichever button I need. I put my thumb on the HTC logo (not using any HTCLOGO tweaks), and then swipe over the back or over the home button depending on which I need. It rarely if ever fails this way and it feels pretty slick using a pseudo-gesture to navigate :good:
The only issue with the buttons i'm facing is bringing up the menu on back button long press. Probably works about 75% of the time but that 25% where I inevitably exit the app is frustrating

Yea I do. Is it really the screen protector that is causing the problem tho?

Same. The swiping doesn't work for me sometimes. I'll have to keep tapping and swiping until it finally works. Double tap on the home button is not really a good idea IMO. Sometimes it doesn't register as double tap and brings you back to home.

Yes your screen protector could be causing the problem. There are multiple posts in this thread where people are complaining about their screen protectors (especially the official HTC branded ones) that are causing the capacitive buttons to be considerably less sensitive and problematic.

So myself and a buddy of mine are both having issues with the capacitive buttons as well. We both have screen protectors. I wish someone could confirm if they are having issues even without screen protector. The guy at the tmo store put it on perfectly and I suck at putting these damn protectors on my phone
i am sure this is screen protector problem , i had no screen protector before and i faced none of those problems and now i have one ... its all problematic.
Switching my screen protectors from fosman to amfilm helped me. I'm assuming because the amfilm is thinner than the fosman. It's been about a day since I switched and the back key hasn't failed me once.

I have no screen protector and I am having the same problem although it is worse when a screen protector is on.
I think the button detect area needs to be bigger and the sensitivity needs to go up or they need to respond immediately regardless of whether the app has frozen, especially the home button.

I was having a problem with this as well without a screen protector but I have a tempered protector on it now and it is considerably worse now.
what's funny is that I think the screen's touch sensitivity actually needs to come down for me and the button sensitivity needs to go up.
Maybe there's an app for that.
Anyone else having problems with the sensitivity on fast scrolling? Seems to not be as smooth or compared to the iPhone 6 and HTC One M8 I have been playing with...It's almost too sensitive or something, I can't quite put my finger on it.
Do you mean the effect where things sometimes bounce back while scrolling?

There is an earlier topic about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/swipe-issues-t2888154
The phone has an extra-sensitive touch screen because it has a "glove mode", and I'm thinking the effect of the technology for that glove mode isn't completely suppressed when the glove mode is disabled, so the touch screen would still be slightly more sensitive than those of other phones, even when glove mode is disabled.
If glove mode is enabled, the touch screen is so incredibly sensitive that without gloves, it will register a touch when you hover your finger about a millimetre above the touch screen.
I found that for me it helps to use "lighter" and shorter swipes. Also after a swipe lifting my finger a bit higher off the screen than I was used to.
Some people might always have been doing shorter and lighter swipes, hence not everyone is experiencing the problem. It's also been said on the Xperia support forum that not all units use the same glass for the front; some use "gorilla glass", others use "dragontrail" glass. That could also be influencing the touch screen sensitivity/behaviour.
I've adjusted my swiping habits relatively quickly and now I get the bounce back effect only once in a while.
I do hope that Sony comes with a firmware fix to compensate for the over-sensitivity though.

hi, is it normal? happen to my unit also.. quite annoying i can tell.. different with my TX..
Go into developer options and enable "Show touches", perhaps touch the screen a few times then turn off show touches.
Sorts it out for me! I was having a nightmare swiping down to select words in Fleksy.
This workaround will do for me until Sony fix it properly!

I really wish there was a way to turn down the sensitivity. During typing, I frequently have screen presses register as very short swipes, which is incredibly irritating, as I then have to backspace and delete two words.
Not really helping you, but this shows how sensitive the z3c display is:

Touch screens usually respond to metal. The screen of my Z2 tablet does.
My screen is so sensitive I can operate it using my leg... through the pocket. I saw in Z1 and Z2 threads that there is a config file that can be adjusted, however I'd have to root in order to do that, and I don't want to risk losing my warranty (esp. not when reading about glass breaking by itself).
It's not a massive problem -- all it takes is switching off "double tap to wake" and camera launch button. But those are features that are useful. On the other hand, having my phone suddenly switch Torch on, call a random person in my phonebook or reorder icons on the launcher desktop isn't all that exciting either -- not a fan of surprises.
Has anyone else found the Z3 Compact screen too sensitive? (Glove mode is off, obviously.)

On my previous phone (xperia acro s) it often happened that my leg messed with the phone when the screen went on for the alarm going off in my pocket. It was really annoying. I was always afraid that some important settings changed without knowing it.
My screen is so sensitive that I the last couple of weeks only have managed to send a few sms without having to delete several words that are written wrong...!
The speeddialer is also terrible and often leads to wrong contacts...
This phone is by far the worst phone I have ever had regarding these issues!
Is this a sign of a faulty phone or can you relate to these problems as well?
Is there a solution???
My speed dial wasn't working out of the box. Had to make a factory reset, that fixed it. Sensitivity isn't interfering with my writing though. My previous phone was a bit bigger so I had to get used to writing on a smaller keyboard. But why would touchscreen sensitivity be an issue when writing anyway? Are you using a swipe keyboard?
No I'm just using it out of the box settings...? I can see swipe is enabeled but I text normal... I have had to disable autocorrecting words when I write... It is really strange... I have had many different smartphones over the last 15 years and this is by far the most responsive ever tending to be useless because of the many mistakes I make during calls and sms...
I never had any issues what so ever with my M7...?
I have just disabled "motioninput" (roughly translated from danish...) under Xperia-texting and this seems to have helped alot!!!
I'm on the same boat - it's too sensitive compared to my m8. Hoping for update to fix it
You really should try to do what I did and disable motioninput! It really helps ??

I go into running apps and force stop com.sonymobile.touchscreen.touchfilter.tfpss and it seems to be a little better, still sensitive but at least no bouceback. I should try pm blocking it.

I've tried this as well, but unfortunately no change, I still get bounce-backs when I don't use particularly light and short swipes.
Anyone notice their proximity sensor is very flaky?
The screen will not shut off when I close my wallet cover over it. It will shut off when I start talking on the phone, but then will not "wake" when I move it away to hang up. I actually couldnt find anyway to wake it up so i just waited until the other side hung up (it was a recorded msg).
Any ideas? I may just shut off the proximity sensor and wait till I can swap it in store. Of course this was right after i installed a tempered glass screen .... would that impact it at all??thx!

It seems that certain brands of tempered glass screen protectors are causing the same issue that you describe.

My tempered glass has a cutout for the 2 sensors on the left, are there any sensors on the right of the speaker? My proximity sensor also is not working. I will probably return my tempered glass also if this is the case...
This is happening to me and I don't have a screen protector. It's really getting annoying.
I'm having issues as well.... Not using any screen protector or whatsoever...
Yeh same here.. Looks like the sensor is maybe too sensitive. Hope sw can fix this.
+1 for the issue.
Cannot hang up after a call because the screen is black. Have to push the power button to wake it up first.
No screen protector.

I just restored a backup of the original rom and the problem went away. So it's probably an issue with cm. Was on cm nightly from 01-13-2014
Did you try going to settings , accessibility , power button ends call, toggle that on and off.
After completing the above mentioned step. Reboot your phone and try making a call. I hope the issue get resolved.
I tried this step on an unrooted phone, which was recieved just yesterday.
I got this fix from some other thread.
Is there a way to turn off proximity sensor without rooting? Looked through setting and must have missed it. Thanks in advance.
Still having this issue as well. I tried toggling the power button option then restarting my phone, it seems to help for a very short period of time (few hours maybe). I have tried several different screen protectors, the most recent ones having a cut out for the sensor and there is a decent gap between the two. Reloaded my phone several times and installed 5.0.1
The sensor doesn't really work to turn on the display when I go to pickup the phone and is spotty when making a call. In the first minute or so of the call, I can take the phone away from my head and it will register, illuminating the screen, after that it stops working.
I can't understand how it could be the screen protector at this point, it's no where close to obstructing the sensor.
Guess it's time to send this thing back. I must be nuts because I keep trying this power button suggestion and it just doesn't work for me longer than a few hours.
Same here, using a plastic rinkage screen protector no bubbles in it and the edge falls a good few MM from the sensor.
CM12 nightly builds still do it I'm on the 2/19th build with Franco kernel.
Best solution is get rid of the junk and get a Note 4. Mine is such a crap phone. It doesn't even do anything special except be big.
Hi,
Just to tell that I've got this pb since I installed the Spigen crystal protection, not even a tempered glass.
Before that I still had the original cheap film you get when you unbox, with the white corner.. the crystal is really nicer but it screws the sensor...
I believe it is software related. I have a tempered glass screen protector that does not cover the proximity sensor. I have noticed that about 60% of the time the screen does not turn back on when I move the phone away from my head. It seems to happen more when the phone call is longer than one minute. I also had a tempered glass protector that covered the sensor and had the same behavior. I did use an app to test the proximity sensor and with both screen protectors it worked 100% of the time using the app.

I was just having this problem until I lost it when it continuously costed me a win in Real Racing 3 lol. Do you have sweaty palms? Or a screen protector? Mine is pretty old and would change it to a new one, I think the sweat piled up so it blocks some touch response and ghosts a touch somewhere in the screen, anyways, in the meantime I tried THIS and it somehow increased touch detection.

thanks man i tried and im waiting to see if it works !!
It wont fix, its manufacturing fault. Tempered glass will reduce it from happening.
Did you remove the original protector with Sony logo?
Remove the original ASF with Sony logo (antishatter film) as it is such a scratch prone. Replace with tempered glass and those touch issues should be history.
