I recently bought a moto x for sprint network. The guy I bought it from said he was a developer and was using it to develop a custom os for a new carrier on the sprint network. The bootloader is unlocked and is rooted. I was on the phone with customer service for about an hour and they tried everything they could to get it up and running. Is there no hope our is there something I can do about it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Aright guys, maybe someone here can help me. hopefully
I bought a sprint htc one to use on my tmobile plan
it took me days to finally be able to sim unlock it using viperboys app while on BadBoyz rom
Now, I am still on Badboyz rom, but I can't get my phone to pickup any signal from tmobile, it stays connected to sprint!
I do not know which option to use when I enter the *#*#4636#*#* screen, I do not know what APN settings to use, what rom to use,
I am so lost, all I want is to be able to use My tmobile service. If anyone could give me some advice I would be so thankful!
Are you using a t-mobile SIM card?

Ok... So you're thinking about buying an unlocked phone that was originally a Verizon phone but was used on T-Mobile that you want to use on AT&T? That is a bit convoluted, each vendor uses different bits of spectrum and a Verizon phone isn't a pure GSM phone such as AT&T or T-Mobile might have, I would be cautious, why not just get an unlocked AT&T device?
That being said, if it can be used on a GSM network like T-Mobile it should work on AT&T, the problem being that - as I said - each carrier uses different bits of the spectrum.
Save yourself the potential hassle and buy the proper AT&T model.
Yeah i am being cautious I'm passing on it thanks for the responses

TBH, you'd be better off buying a HTC One ATT/T-Mo variant since (I think, but haven't looked up) all frequencies work on it.
Anyways, you should be able to just insert the SIM and you should be good to go. Make sure you go into your Mobile Network settings, and change the mode to GSM. Alternatively you could go into testing (*#*#4636#*#*) and change the mode to something like WCDMA preferred.
I've done a fair amount of searching, and come up empty so I'm hoping you guys can help.
I purchased my Nexus 6 from Motorola. I currently use Straightalks gsm service, but would like to transfer to STs Verizon LTE for better service in my area. Every time I register my device, it says that it won't work.
Can I use a friends imei?
Is there any other work around?

So here is what I did to solve this issue. I used an imei from a Verizon LTE device to activate the straight talk Verizon Sim, then did a factory reset of my nexus 6 with the Sim. Worked perfectly.
