I think it's just you. All three of mine are equally bright.

Hmm it's quite noticeable when seen in low light. My OCD is saying return it, but I know I shouldn't risk it to get an even worse defective one then this small issue haha

That's how I felt about my device. My ocd was telling me to return it for certain reasons, but I felt I was gunna get a device with even worse problems. No phone is made exactly the same.

N1 Power button, screen awakes by itself?

My power button has gotten pretty far inside my phone since I remember buying it. But now, it is hard to click it sometimes, and the screen re-awakes by itself after I push the button.
Is it worth returning (Rooted). Also, My screen has a pretty wide gap, and dust falls in between the screen and the body. And the back panels are slightly mis-aligned.
Are all these issues worth exchanging for? Even when rooted, they still should honor this, right?

My power button pissed out on me. Send it back, they sent me another. It was rooted of course. They couldn't tell on mine. It would not power up at all.
Its getting worse, not functioning sometimes. Calling tomorrow, going to ask them to send me one overnight, and I'll ship mine when I get the new one.

Volume button, soft keys and camera?

Hey there. I bought this phone today and I love it. However, I have a couple of couple gripes with it, but am not entirely sure whether it's just with my phone or the Incredible S in general.
First off, the volume buttons appears to be flimsy. I mean, yes, it's very thin and I'm not totally used to it yet, but I've noticed you can moved it from side to side slightly. This is the same for the power button, only not as noticeable.
Secondly, the soft keys. I get that they have an LCD display to make the buttons rotate, but on the search key it seems a lot brighter and a bit blurry, and I'm able to see the rotated magnifying glass underneath the non-rotated button. It's not as bright as the 'standard' non-rotated button, but it is noticeable. When I rotate the phone and the buttons rotate I'm unable to see the non-rotated magnifying glass. This is also the same, though not as bad for the back button.
And finally, the camera. I'm don't know whether this is a software/app/wifi issue, but I tested out Tango and Fring using the front facing camera and the back camera, and called my friend. He has an iPhone 4 and he came through clear. I, on the other hand (according to him at least) came through blocky and 'stuttery', with lots of pauses. Fring was worse, as the sound wasn't good for either of us, but the video seemed poor on my end.
So yeah, are my complaints common to all Incredible S'? If so, then I won't be too bothered, but I'm kinda worrying a bit because I bought the last IS in the shop, and when the salesman opened up the box to show me the phone, it didn't have any of the stickers on, and the screen had fingermarks on. He said that it was brand new, but they had used it to show another customer. I got home and tried turning it on, and there was no charge left in the battery. I looked in the box and all the chargers etc were unopened, though.
So yeah, what do you think?

Yes it is normal for the volume rocker to rock in all directions however don't let it fool you it is very sturdy and longer lasting than the power button. Never had an issue with the volume button however the power button will require more pressure to push over time.
As for the soft keys they do blur out and it all depends what angle your viewing them from.
The. Camera on. The front of the. IncS is a piece of crap only at 1mp, I'm not sure. What the iphones resolution is but I can guarantee that it's high seeing as they advertise video calls.

Another thing I've just noticed; again, am wondering whether this is same for everyone or just me (after the whole no stickers on the phone thing with fingerprints on the screen), but the micro USB port is kinda loose. If you tap it with your smallest finger, or if the charger is in it and move it slightly, the USB port moves.
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a bit concerned if I've paid a a fair amount of money for a 'new' phone, when it's not and there's things wrong with it.
Thanks.
Everything seems pretty normal. Bearing in mind it is not a closed case like the iphone series, therefore you have to expect movement with parts of the phone.

My phone. Came the same way dude and yes the usb port moves on all of them it adds a bit of flexibility so it's not as easy to damage.
There is nothing to worry about. There was no plastic on mine and there was finger prints on it. The sales people generally boot them up once to avoid a waiting period when setting up your phone for the first time. They boot them up than shut them down so they can boot up fast using fast boot. The less time waiting for the phones the more time spent selling phones.

Oh okay dude! Thanks for the replies. I think I look for faults when they're not there lol.
So yeah cheers for clearing that up.

[Q] Responsiveness of buttons

Can someone please comment on the responsiveness, travel, click-y-ness, feedback and consistency of the physical buttons?
This might seem trivial, but this is one of the reasons I have never kept an HTC phone...the buttons are so gushy/squishy, whatever you wanna call it. I like to feel it click. Apple has nailed this, so has BB with the new Z10.
Any comments? Thanks!

The HTC One has only soft capacitative buttons, so you will get the vibration feedback and probably the strength of the feedback can be adjusted.
I am speaking about the physical buttons, I.e. power and volume buttons. I am not concerned about the capacitive ones.

The power button feels flush, responsive but I didn't really feel that I pressed it if that makes sense. Not as deep set as my Desire HD one is/has become.

Ya, makes sense, but is totally disappointing. It makes it difficult to lock it without intentionally looking and pressing. I used the 8x for a brief period and had that same experience, it was never easy to quickly lock it on the way to putting it in your pocket.
How about the volume rockers? Can you find them easily without looking? e.g. when adjusting the volume in your pocket.

[Q] Power Button

Okay, so my power button isn't broke it is still very sensitive and very much intact. But it seems some what lose on the right side of the button but left is very poppy still. I'm not really freaking out about it although I could see it being a major problem down the road just like my iPhone 4. Anyone else have the same problem?
Like it's angled incorrectly? I've got that
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
My One was like that but I exchanged it.
yeah its angled weird, do you think getting a replacement is worth it? I mean its probably bound to just keep happening. My screen and body at top of phone is flush either. But I am not really worried about either, should I be?
If it doesn't bother you then keep it. I returned mine and got one with a wiggly volume button. It's rare to get one without any problems.
mine doesnt any problems
Only problems on mine are the noted capacitive buttons and the bezel and the screen don't match up on the top so it's a little bit raised.

I just am worried it will stop responding

Loose home button

If I lightly tap my home button its pretty loose, anyone else?
Now that I know about it I can't seem to stop.

Mine definitely isn't loose at all. There's no wiggle room in any direction. Tapping lightly doesn't nothing, but pressing firmly gives a nice solid click, just as you would expect.
I'd exchange it through TMO before your window closes. That is, if it bothers you (and it would bother me).

Ok cool, thank you for the info. I might give them a ring then, it does bother me a bit!
I have the same thing.. mine is firm but if you lightly tap it without pressing it all the way down it wobbles a bit.. I thought it was mine but I ordered another one and it had the same thing. I went in at the Tmo store and the one on display does it as well..

they're all like this. have yet to come into contact with one where there isn't at least a slight bit of movement vertically. i believe this was intended and how it was designed.
@whittikins might want to try putting on glasses and check again. it's an extremely tiny bit of movement, very hard to see unless you're really looking for it.

OP didn't have to look for his. He said that tapping it lightly makes it move and is loose. Mine doesn't and is not loose at all. The only movement I can get is by pressing just enough to not click it and putting pressure up/down (toward the top/bottom of the screen). I can detect a slight movement, but it's silent and not at all like OP describes. Pushing against the edge of the button with my fingernail in any direction doesn't result in any movement. I have to be pressing down and purposely pushing it sideways to see anything.

i was essentially confirming to everyone that there should at least be slight movement vertically (that's up and down) without any noise and without actually clicking the button.
OP needs to exchange his/her device.

I have a white device. maybe it's isolated to black devices. not sure. as early adopters, it's usually more likely that the percentage of defective devices in our hands is higher than later on.

My home button is firm but it does wiggle a bit.
But whats bothering the most is the battery life!
I also have a black one and just picked it up Sunday here is Australia. I have taken it back and had it replaced as the Mobile provider agreed that it was a fault. The new one now also has the same issue.
I have also found a video on youtube that shows the noise that it makes as it is so loose. www dot youtube dot com/watch?v=Y5FoWeDGQZ4 (not able to post link as I am new)
Contacting Samsung customer support was not much use but they said that it can be sent in to look at but will be charged if no fault it found. I believe it to be Faulty.
this is a massive hassle to be without a phone for who knows how long... not impressed.

Same issue here. The left side of the home button rattles a little bit when i press lightly on it. Should i exchange or is it normal?
I got the 32GB S6 in Black.
My Button wiggles too when i slightly move it up and down, not much but it bother me a lil bit.
Problem is: i rooted my phone and after that the problem occured...
I dont know if they would see the Knox Trigger, cuz its a Materialfault and im in the first 14 Days(Got it 2 Days now).
Maybe i will live with it.I didnt pay for it.
My Provider gave it to me for free bcuz i was about to cancel my contract

Both my wife and myself got the blueish black ones. Hers is rock solid, no movement. Mine has a slight wiggle if I apply a little pressure. Haven't decided if I want to go in and have them open up boxes until they find a solid one. It's really not a issue so what do you guys think? Worth my time to go in or just deal with it?
