[Q] Buying unlocked Nexus 6 in USA? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Buying unlocked Nexus 6 in USA?
Hey.
I'm in USA for the next two weeks, and I want to buy the Nexus 6. I want to buy the unlocked and international version, where will I be able to do it? As I said, I'm not living in US, so I cannot pre-order a phone because I don't have address, and also if the shipment will be delayed I won't be able to receive the phone.

T-Mobile had them.. I believe they are all sold out... But you can try to call some stores to find out.

T-Mobile had the sim-free (unlocked) international version? Are you sure? How much it costs there?
TNX.

To me that seems very unlikely to work out in your favor due to the demand of these phones and your time frame.
Maybe I'm wrong and someone on here knows something I don't. I do wish you the best of luck though! This phone is amazing and you'll love it!

I believe the phone was $650 or $700 or so... But its really a crap shoot because every one wants one so its very hard to come by. I got the last one in a store where I was told they were already sold out.

Is there a way to book the phone so when I'll come to the store I will be sure that I'll will get out with the phone?
In Israel if you call to a store (or booking in their website) a phone, that will put it aside and when you coming to the store, he is waiting for you, and only after you come to the store you pay for the phone.

No chance..

Nope thats when you order online. I believe when you order it from T-Mobile, you must have 1 month of service with T-Mobile before cancelling. If you're on EIP with T-Mobile, you'll have to pay the remainder of your balance before you can go. If you paid in full, you have to stay for a month.
Taxes and shipping is also included in the price so it'll be another $60ish depending what state you're in / shipping.

I could be wrong but I don't believe you can purchase the international version anywhere in the US.

Do you know when the phone will come to Israel?

Your best bet would be ebay or craigslist. There are some AT&T/Rogers banded N1's on ebay. Like a previous post said, the one you get by getting a Dev account is T-Mobile banded. I will say though that the ones on ebay are pretty out of line on pricing. Good luck to you!

It's best if you go on craigslist/kijiji or even RFD if you want an 850/1900 nexus one. Usually the prices are more reasonable than on ebay.

Yes I have seen some on Craigslist reasonably priced. The ones I have seen on eBay are too expensive, but its all about what you are willing to pay. Also be careful on eBay as well because there are some pretty convincing Chinese knockoffs that are being sold as well. I saw one that was fake as hell sold for almost $400 and it was a $90 phone. Good luck!

Incredible S U.S. T-mobile 3G?

So with HTC's disappointing line-up for the first half of 2011 I decided to take a visit to HTCs World site. I looked at the specs of the new phones and noticed that under Network the bands listed are Europe/Asia - HSPA: 900/AWS/2100 MHz. Does this mean that I could finally buy an unlocked HTC phone and have my US T-mobile 3G aswell? The Flyer has the same Network specs. Out of the 5 new phones that HTC announced the Flyer and Incredible S only have those specs. The Chacha, salsa, and wildfire S, each have the standard 900/2100mhz band for HSPA Europe/Asia.
http://www.htc.com/www/product/incredibles/specification.html
http://www.htc.com/www/product/flyer/specification.html
Can someone confirm my suspicions? If so I can't wait to see what the fall lineup has in-store. Perhaps a dual core phone. I hate the line up US carriers offer.
I belive that you need 1700/2100 Mhz for T-Mobile 3G

Yes 1700 but is that not AWS. If I'm not mistaken AWS is the 1700/2100 spectrum. So since AWS is stated in the specs for the tablet and phone it should work in the US on T-mobiles 3G correct? I've been waiting for htc to release phones in Europe with US 3G for T-mobile forever. I wish my TD2 had had US 3G. The power switch broke sadly and I bought a used Nexus one and T-mobile made me pay the higher rate for data. With an unlocked phone I can sneak by on the lower unlimited rate.
This is a good news for T-Mobile and Wind users as it supports AWS 3G.
Supposedly it is going to be sold by best buy in the US.. So unless that rumor was false it makes sense to have some flavor US 3G network support and TMo makes more sense (ha no pun intended) than ATT. So AWS on the specs must be true.
Unless all these little clues are an inaccurate vast coincidence.

I guess this was wrong then. Not to mention that the incredible s listing at carphone warehouse says "only at carphone warehouse" which would suggest that it is not anywhere else in the uk although they own a stake in carphone warehouse.

I don't care who sells the phone as long as it really does work with T-mobiles AWS bands in the US. If it's true I can't wait to see the Fall lineup of phones. If anything with a dual core comes out and looks nice I will be ordering it from clove.co.uk or somewhere else it they can beat cloves price.
The ROM is set up for Verizon, plus the original Incredible was with big red so I doubt they would switch carriers with the Incredible name.

You couldn't be any mote wrong. The original is not a US phone and is GSM based. So it makes sense t-mobile could get it. T-mobile UK has it and so do other GSM carriers in the world. Go to HTC.com/www and check it out for ur self. The tech is GSM. You need to learn a bit more about world carriers and phones and ditch big red. GSM is what the world uses. Don't be surprised when Big Red starts to use sim cards.

Is this Incredible S gonna launch on T-Mobile USA?
UK retailers and mobile providers are already accepting preorders.
I'm not sure if T-Mobile USA will get this because it is already being launched elsewhere. Are they gonna launch this phone late?
Verizon already had it in the US (not S). And I don't see any leaked T-Mobile roadmaps hinting an HTC Incredible S launch.
What do you guys think?
Wish it'll be released by BestBuy in states and canada like NS.

If it does it will be like any other phone that hits Europe and Asia first. US carriers will get it 6-12 months later. So if it does come here it will be later on. The thing I'm concerned about is having it work with Tmo US 3G if I buy it unlocked from Europe since it has the AWS bands. I Love buying unlocked phones because some of them we never see here in the states.

I'm sure it wont be long before we see some reviews coming in to verify its AWSness.
One thing is for sure.. I'm not going to pay 499 euros (690 USD!!) for it.. plus shipping.. I'll be waiting for it to pop up stateside for around 500 USD I would hope...

When it gets here the price unlocked will drop to about that. That's how long it will take for it to get here. It will be that old. Most I am willing to pa for an unlocked phone they don't sell in the states is $550. Sadly I would rather use that money for a radiator to help keep my car cool with all it's new found power.
I'm sure there will be at least two different models, a European model without AWS and a T-mobile US version with AWS. Just like the HD2. The T-mobile US one will be carrier locked too. You know I'm right.

The only version that has been announced is the European/Asian one and it has AWS so this one could also be sold by T-Mobile USA.
However the question would be why bother when they already have the recently released 3.8" myTouch 4G with 4GB of storage, the same CPU and GPU, etc, etc. While the Incredible S seems to be better all round, with the exception of available storage, there hardly seems to be any point in adding such a similar phone to the T-Mobile USA line-up, especially when the myTouch 3G was made specially for them.
They will probably wait until October later this year to introduce a new variant of this phone and some dual core HTC phones.

Got mine for £370 on eBay from Hong Kong, including shipping. Did see it cheaper elsewhere but chose a shop with a decent reputation. Would always rather pay a bit more than risk getting burned. Although if you buy with a credit card you should be protected from scams anyway.

does your version of the Inc S support the 850/1900 (At&T) 3G in the US? the only one i've seen that does is the Canadian (BELL) version.
EDIT: Just read your post in another forum; your version supports T-Mobile 3G? Correct? Thanks!

It uses HSPA yes, not HSPA+ that I'm aware of, My wife's G2 is HSPA+ and I consistently throughout the day have slightly faster speeds than her G2 according to speed test. Bear in mind, im also using it with the $5.00 unlimited web2go, being an import T-mo doesn't know the IMEI and can't distinguish it from a dumbphone.
Anyone else find this phone $450-500?
I am looking for a replacement for my aging Nexus One.
I am hoping prices will decrease on Ebay since Verizon is releasing a similar dual CDMA/GSM model; Incredible II

you have to get the model S710E for it to work on Tmobile 3G.
i am also waiting to buy this phone, and thinking if the release of the Incredible 2 gsm+cdma will alter the pricing of this phone.
One question i have is, would it be better to buy the unlocked unbranded S710e over an unlocked droid incredible 2 (pretty sure both have 3G 2100 bands i need).

I also decided to buy the phone, but after finding that the price of the sensation is going to be $500, it doesnt make sense to me to pay more than $500 on the incredible. At that price, i would rather just get the sensation.. i dont see the point here
All prices on ebay from a trustworthy sellers are atleast $530. Also on Handtec.UK the price is above $550 and Clove is the same. As i live in the middle east, i need a place that ships worldwide and accepts paypal
Should i just wait for the sensation to come out and maybe the price will drop?

Who said the price of the sensation is $500, are you kidding me, it's 599 pounds in the UK, that's about nearly a grand in dollars, I aint saying its gonna be a grand here, but its not gonna be selling for $500. I highly doubt you gonna see the sensation for $500 here in the US, show me the proof!
I have no proof, but thats what ppl say on the sensation forum, that non subsidized price is going to be $499 and subsidized is going to be $199
Portuguese Fnac (www.fnac.pt) will have in the next 2 days for 550,00 EUR but the funny thing is that you could get a Desire HD for 500,00 EUR...what would you do ?

Experia Z on AT&T in the USA?

Hi guys, My Z is coming tomorrow and I'm on the AT&T network in the USA. Now I know the device will work on the HSPA under the 850 band just fine (which is in my area) I am un-sure about AT&T's LTE working. I want to say that it will NOT work on AT&T's LTE. Aside from that, anyone here using the Z in the states on AT&T..? And if so, any problems at all..?
Thanks!

Are you sure you area is 850? Most different states my note 2 hardly ever works on HSPA+ via 850 most of the time its 1900 for me anyway. But thats the only reason Why Im stopped from buying it I dont want it and just have EDGE haha. Where did you order? Handtec has it for 650 after shipping and such.
Also No go for AT&T LTE. Only for the ZL>
Ya mine would of came friday had it not been for customs, so monday it is and hopefully there wont be any problems.
I live in NJ and most of the north east has 850. Matter of fact, I had heard that AT&T was replacing all the 1900 HSPA towers with 850 as its a better frequency. That conversion was sappse to be finished at the end of this year.
Where did you get it? I've dealt with Handtec before for Samsung phones.
How can you tell what band your phone is on by the way? (I live in MD with no LTE support anyway)
I'd like to place an order tonight.
I'm in Chicago and I didn't pull the trigger on the c6603 because the rep I talked to at AT&T highly advised only buying a phone that had 850 and 1900 bands. So now I'm waiting for this supposed c6602 to come out that will support HSPA+, or the mythical c6606 that supports LTE.

+1 or the ZL C6506 about to release and less expensive...
Just placed my order with Handtec. Was $646.36 shipped.
I live in California and 850 is everywhere on att. I think you should be fine in most places on att as they didn't even really start building out PCS until 10years or so ago. It's hard to find frequency maps but for the most part it's everywhere, 850 has better building penetration and 1900 is used for capacity/high density areas... there are of course are always exceptions. I should be receiving my 6603 sometime before Wednesday so I'll report my findings.
I ordered from clove which was a bit more expensive than handtec shipped ($680) but they include the wireless blutehooth speaker w/nfc pairing which is about $100 by itself. Can't wait to get my hands on this beauty.

What state do you live in? Att has quite a few markets where they either acquired PCS or just chose to build out 1900 and that is the preferred frequency. Like I said there are exceptions, it would make sense for you to wait for the 6602.

No, customs or vat charges don't apply when ordering to the US. I'm not sure about handtec but clove - I ordered on Thursday and they shipped on Friday, it arrived in the states on Saturday so now I'm just waiting for snail mail to actually deliver. Just a heads up with handtec and or clove, they may make you jump through some hoops to verify your identity if you've never ordered from them before.

With Handtec there are no other charges. (price + shipping is it)
If you checkout with Google Wallet, you shouldn't have any issues. (I've purchased bunches from Handtec via google wallet, never had an issue)
Tried using my visa bank card once, had major problems with fraud prevention flagging it, so I've only used a credit card since.
I did a LONG time ago have a problem with my International SGS2 from Handtec, it got pulled in customs by FedEx. I had to call customer support, fill out a form, and email it to a FedEx agent. Little bit of hassle, and added an extra day to shipping. Its never happened since.
Mine just shipped, I wouldn't be surprised to have it by Wed. They are amazingly fast getting things to the east coast. (usually Handtec is faster for me than Negri... and cheaper)
Negri JUST sent me an email ad for the Xperia Z. $748. I paid $643 with Handtec.

Where did you hear that 1900 was preferred? AT&T has stated time and time again that they plan of phasing out 1900 in favor of 850 as its a way better band all together. They say by year end of 2013 they plan to convert to all 850... Gotta find the link that talks about that a repost.

[Q] Would you recommend to get an AT&T phone?

Hi, I'm getting a good deal on a Nexus 6 from AT&T unlocked ($650), but I've read a lot of complaints about the bloatware, and also that some units were sold deffective by then, the price is really really good, would you recommend me to buy it even if it comes from AT&T? I'm not from USA so I'm not much into what's the deal with AT&T and why people hate it so much, please let me know what you think, I need to decide quickly, thanks!
If you aren't from USA, then you need to check the bands of the Americas edition to where you plan on using it because it may not support all the bands.

Also AT&T "unlocked" is SIM card locked so unless its coming unlocked because your post isn't specific by carrier unlock or bootloader unlock.
The bloatware is included with your AT&T SIM card so if you don't put a AT&T sim card inside then it won't preload bloatware from Play Store.
The AT&T logo can be scraped off.
This is what it says:
Carrier: Unlocked
Contract: Without Contract
I'm good with the bands, so based on this information, it means that I can use it with my SIM card right? what about this article, I'm concerning about being one of the "lucky" guys:

Thanks!

Not a expert when it comes to that but couldn't you just flash factory images? Where are you buying this phone from? Online or offline?
If its offline, then check his Android version and all that. Try putting your SIM card in there before making the purchase.
If its online, then you kind of have to take his word. Theres a reason why hes selling it that cheap, $650 when he has to pay taxes (and possibly shipping) that will round to be $700+ unless he purchased it from a store which he will still have to pay taxes.
Also you'd have to check IMEI to see if the phone has been reported to be stolen.
I'd wait and get one when you can from Google/Motorola. I'd only recomend the ATT version if you for sure aren't leaving ATT and want the contract subsidy.
Thank you both, I'm not from USA, I'm actually buying it from eBay. Regarding being stolen, you have a point there, the photos in the listing shows a box and all that, I could also start a dispute on eBay if that would be the case, should I go for it I can't wait for Google or Motorola, I have a relative in USA right now, and she's coming back the first week of december, and I don't see any move from Google or Motorola to restock or either send the phones to retail stores.
Thanks a lot.

They restock every Wednesday but you're right.. the chances of getting it from there is impossible because people are always ordering and even if you did make it through, you'll have to wait for 2-3 weeks or more to have your order shipped. Alternatively, you can buy the phone outright and have the cell service for 30 days.
What country are you from? USA shipping is a bit random right now because of Thanksgiving as well. Its the most busy traffic day/week for us throughout the whole year.
Don't scare me man! I hope that if I get that one it arrives on time, I'm actually from El Salvador, and I'm trying to get it while my sister is in US since Nexus is not being sold here. I guess I'll take my chances and if everything goes wrong, I'll have to open a dispute, what do you say? I don't think is stolen though.
Thanks!
