Moto X Unlock from 4.4.4 (Safe Site?) - Moto X Q&A

Soooo.. will this site work to unlock my ATT moto x on 4.4.4?
http://www.attphoneunlockingshop.us/products/USA-AT&T-Motorola-Moto-X-IMEI-Unlock-Code.html

That's not a bootloader unlock. That's for a carrier unlock so that you could take the phone with you to another carrier. Bootloader unlock requires either an unlock code from htcdev/middleman or an exploit like sunshine. For now you'll just have to wait to unlock your bootloader until sunshine gets updated and hopefully covers the X on 4.4.4.

Uggh.. Thanks. I misread the page in desperation to unlock this damn phone. Hope the update to 5.0 presents an exploit.

It depends on which xt1058 it is. If it's the at&t variant, u cannot unlock the bootloader. If it's any other non-us carrier, u can unlock the bootloader...

For the Developer Editions Moto X, and some carrier editions (Like T-Mobile, Sprint and others), Motorola freely gives away the BootLoader Unlock codes when requested On Motorola's Web SIte. In the case of the Non-Developer Editions, it voids their warranty to request the code.
I'm not going to go into the reasons why, but Moto does NOT give out the bootloader unlock code for the Retail and Moto Maker X for Verizon, ATT and a few other carriers.
That is why you will see people ask what carrier.
One last note...
IF you get a 2013 X for ATT or Verizon, AND the phone is still on 4.4.2 or lower AND the bootloader is NOT 30.B7, you can use Sunshine to unlock the bootloader.
NOTE: once the phone has 4.4.2, 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 on it, you can NOT Safely downgrade it!!! And there is no way to downgrade the bootloader (even on Dev Edition models).
thanks i got the XT1058 ATT model but i am having bootloader BO.4 which is a good sign and i have android 4.4.2 so i can unlock with sunshine root. thanks for replying
Raj
you saved me form lots of regret my friend, i will keep cancelling updates until i can pay for sunshine. i have boot loader 30.b4 thanks a lot for your suggestion
Is there no other way to unlocked BL XT1058 ?
My previous phone is dead, but the data was backup via TitaniumBackup.
Without unlocked bl, i can not root... Without root, i can't restore my data via TitaniumBackup
*sigh* I guess i bought the wrong phone?

Correct. If you have an ATT XT1058, Sunshine was the only option to unlock the bootloader. And to use it, you needed to be on 4.4.2 or lower, and never had 4.4.4 or higher on your phone.
IF you have a Rogers Canada XT1058 or other non-ATT XT1058, you should be able to get your bootloader unlock code directly from Moto's web site.

all I know the Bootloader can not re unlock when you flash stock firmware or update OTA. So you dont need to relock BL after do anything ! Keep Bootloader Unlocked will help you custome your phone easier with root and more !
A certain thread called "[LOLLIPOP WARNING]Those Who Unlocked Via Sunshine or Purchasing a Code from China" says the following:
There is an Enable OEM Unlock option that is appearing in the Developer Options of the N6 and MX14 running 5.1 and if it is not checked, you cannot unlock your bootloader. If you unlocked via Sunshine or purchased a code for your device from the Chinese code seller, we do not know what is going to happen wrt this Enable OEM Unlock option for your phone if you upgrade to 5.1.
Until we do, it is safest to not upgrade and stay unlocked until 5.1 drops and the situation becomes clearer.

There hasn't been any update on the thread since the 5.1 release for the Moto X, so if I were you I would wait... Sunshine has also a support line, so you could also send a ticket and directly ask if they can unlock your bootloader. I'm sure they have seen this case!
you had an xt1058 right ? you updated to 5.1, did your bootloader get relocked ?
It didn't, but I had a Rogers xt1058 that was BL unlocked directly by Motorola and not by Sunshine...
According to Motorola's website, at&t's Moto X cannot be BL unlocked officially, so that's probably why we cannot know what will happen if you update to 5.1.

Verizon Moto X Root

So I have a bit of a dilemma.
I want to root my Verizon Moto X (XT1060), but I can't find any tools that support it without unlocking my bootloader. Motorolla's Bootloader Unlock System doesn't give me a key, and Verizon doesn't allow unlocks (that I know of),
TL;DR
Is there any way to:
Bypass the restrictions and unlock my bootloader
or
Root my Moto X without unlocking the bootloader
Thank in advance for the help.

Unlock Bootloader

Hello,
I'm Trying to unlock a moto x 1058 from AT&T, I've entered the following command in fastboot mode: oem get_unlock_data.
Then I've pasted that code in the moto x website, but I got a message saying that my bootloader can't be unlocked.
Is there anything I can do to unlock it?
Thanks in advance.
Both AT&T and Verizon will not allow the bootloader to be unlocked, except on the developer edition. Many moons ago, there was a Chinese middleman that could supply unlock codes for a fee, but that has been a while. Most likely, you're stuck ... sorry.
What about sunshine? If you are on 4.4.2 it should work. That's what i've read about.

Moto X (2014) TrustZone Bootloader Exploit

Recently I was trying to unlock my Moto X 2014's bootloader and I came a cross this site: bits-please.blogspot.com/2016/02/unlocking-motorola-bootloader.html. However, while I understand the concepts, the actual in practice execution of the exploit is completely foreign to me. What would I need to do in order to use the exploit and unlock the bootloader.

Sorry but I can understand.
Why you don't use official Motorola site to unlock bootloader?
