[Q] xt1072 bootloader unlock

i have the uk xt1072 4g is it possible to unlock bootloader as when i try it says device not qualified for bl unlock, and when i spoke to motorola they looked at the unlock data and said the moto g 2nd gen 4g is not supported yet for bootloader unlock?
any help is appreciated as phone feels useless with locked bootloader i just want to achieve root access
My device cid is 0x007 which i should be able to unlock
Here are a lot of XT1072 users with a rooted phone. As this is only possible with an unlocked bl the statement of motorola can´t be true.
If your cid says "able to unlock" it should be able to unlock. Is it a retail phone? Have you deleted all the seperators in the key before pasting it to the motorola page?
Maybe look for a XT1072 user here on XDA and ask if he has any problems.
Yh should be straight forward so annoying pretty sure im entering key correctly not sure what issue is

According to motorola the xt1072 moto g 2014 4g 2nd gen which is not supported at moment

It is unlockable, try to copy every line manually and make sure u don't have spaces somewhere.
I have a similar issue with the xt1072 (0x007). Motorola says it is unlockable and I got some unlock key but if I want to unlock the phone with fastboot oem unlock KEY it is not possible to unlock. There is a message: unlock not possible enable oem unlock in the developer menu. But there is no option in my developer menu for enabling oem unlock.
Is it possible to get the developer menu option back or to enable oem unlock on a other way?

I resolved my issue with first doing a factory reset, see www_androidpit_com / how-to-factory-reset-the-moto-g-2014 and after that I have this options and unlocking the bootloader works like a charme.

How to unlock your bootloader T-Mobile only as far as I know

** Unlocking the bootloader will WIPE your device!**
Update:
Tmo is unlockable
Sprint is unlockable
ATT is NOT
Verizon is NOT (Shocker!)
So I just got my phone and the very first thing I did was unlock the bootloader! It's very very easy..
1. Enable Dev Options and enable OEM unlock as well as USB debugging. If you don't know how to do that, what are you doing here? ?
2. Goto: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
3. Agree to all the fun stuff then sign into your Motorola account. I used the handy sign in with Google button. Download and install the Motorola drivers as Motorola uses there own fastboot driver for some reason.
4. Open a command window and type adb reboot bootloader
5. If you have ever unlocked a HTC bootloader this will be easy for you. Put in the command it tells you into a command prompt then copy the entire string.
6. There is a option on the website that lets you paste it and it automatically cuts the unnecessary stuff out for you.
7. Paste the new string into the box, agree to the terms and in about 5 min you will get a email with your unlock code
8. Type fastboot oem unlock ^paste your code here^
9. You should receive a message saying your bootloader was unlocked.
10. Restart bootloader and confirm!

This is awesome news! I went back to best buy and ended up getting one through AT&T, currently typing on it now. I'm hoping the process will be as straight forward with the AT&T model. I'll give it a go when I get home and report back.

Looks like AT&T is locked down. After going through the above steps on Motorola's site. "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking."

Has anyone figured out how to unlock the bootloader on the AT&T model?

I think that will be the route I take. There's a couple of T-Mobile and Sprint variants floating around on eBay, I'm assuming from their BOGO offers.

You got it straight from Verizon? I'm only asking because I got mine from Motorola and I'm wondering if than boot loader can be unlocked .
I got my T-Mobile Z2 Force and was easily able to unlock the bootloader using the same method thru Motorola website. I was also able to confirm that "TWRP 3.1.1 albus" for Z2 Play does NOT work on this phone, it just freezes. For the love of god please someone get this phone rooted so I can delete all the startup crap and have a clean phone. Thank you in advance.

This may help with getting things frozen without root. Im still waiting on my device =( Damn employee purchases suck
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-systemui-tuner-t3588675
Found this worked to disable my NFC icon when the inbuilt systemui tuner didn't have it as an option. Hope we get kernel source pretty soon and get this beast rooted.
Sweet then hopefully some custom roms
Sent from my SM-N930F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
It looks like we don't need custom recovery to install Magisk root anymore. The biggest problem now is that we don't have a kernel image for our current roms. Moto still hasn't released kernel source for the Moto Z2 Play yet so I'm not super hopeful about getting ours anytime soon. Betting we don't get it until after Android O is available.

Does Moto X4 bought through Project Fi have unlocked bootloader?

I'm assuming all X4's not bought though a traditional Carrier (US) are unlocked, but after some googling, I still haven't seen any confirmation.

generally speaking android one devices are allowed to unlock till now. I dont know if this time google prohibited it or not. But MI A1 is android one device and is easily unlocked using simple

command. So may be moto x4 android one edition is easy to unlock
"Unlocked" could be a couple things, of course...
With respect to bootloader, every other Fi device has been unlockable, so I would assume that trend will continue.
And, according to the Fi twitter account, an X4 purchased through Project Fi will not be carrier-locked, so should work on any network.
We're dealing with 3 different things:
1) Carrier unlocked. I would assume that yes, this phone is carrier unlocked. Meaning if you want to ditch Fi and move to another PAYG or carrier, you can.
2) Bootloader unlocked. This is almost certainly NOT unlocked, as every phone comes out of the factory with a locked bootloader.
3) Bootloader unlockable? Can it be easily unlocked for ROMs and kernels and modding etc? Probably.
Just ordered a X4 from the Fi store. It says estimated delivery on Nov 1.

I would provide the link to the motorola unlock page, but my account is too new to post an outside link.

Shouldn't you unlock before you start seriously using the device? "oem unlock" wipes out your secure storage as far as I remember.

Confirmation: OEM Unlocking option is in developer settings
Just got my X4 today, and in developer settings, there is an OEM Unlocking option. I haven't done the next step (no reason yet to), but it's what I've got.

That toggle doesn't unlock the bootloader. But rather allows the bootloader to be unlocked. You will still need to follow the steps above to get yourself an unlock code from Motorola.
