So a couple of days ago I sideloaded the 4.4 hangouts app and selected SMS. For some reason after I did this my voicemail reverted to something called sprint SMS voicemail. I get a text from sprint saying I have a new voicemail and I provides a number to call or an HTML link. The number is always a busy signal and the link opens chrome and what looks like a flash player but nothing plays. I try to reenable the visual voicemail app, but cant select it in the app manager. Thus I no longer have voicemail. I suppose I might have to wait for kit Kat, but does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this problem in the meantime?

Same here, only difference I have the real Hangouts, I realized it yesterday (I don't get many VMs), I wonder if it has anything to do with HG...
UPDATE: Apparently it's a major Sprint issue, I just Googled it, but I couldn't find a fix... G'luck and lemme know if you found anything

My own update:
Based off my research, it appears that the problem is that the hangouts app grabs the voicemail sms and intercepts it before the voicemail app can retrieve it. Thus as it stands now, hangouts sms is incompatible with sprint v vm. Hopefully the sprint kit kat update will fix this problem.
As of now the only way to get v vm is to disable sms in hangouts and to renable the v vm app. I've done this, and my voicemail is working normally now.

Great, thanx... Sucks, but getting my VMs is more important to me than SMS in Hangouts app

This might be a dumb question but I can't get my voicemail to work after disabling SMS in hangouts. What exactly did you do to re-enable the VM app? Also, I have the Sprint HTC One but I haven't seen this talked about anywhere else.
thanks.
Two things: reload the latest .apk (search for it on xda). Once it is loaded reenable the app in settings. Open the app and rerecord your greeting.

I just randomly decided to try Hangouts again, and it seems to be working fine. Is anybody else still having any issues?
This issue has been bugging me for quite some time now. I can't access the dialer at all. Clicking phone numbers through a text or a website results in the same message popping up and then closing. The 'Dialer' app will appear for a split second followed by the error. The only way I have been able to make calls is to save the number and calling them through 'Contacts' or the call button from Hangouts.
What is also weird is that from the lock screen I can access 'Emergency call' with no issues. Never had this issue prior to updating to 4.4 (Also, the caller ID feature isn't enabled or there for some reason..). Stock with unlocked bootloader, no root. Switching back to Dalvik from ART didn't resolve it either. However, I had the same issue with my GNex but I had that phone rooted with CM 10.2 Nightlies so I assumed the issue was with the roms.
Anyone have a fix for this issue (other than installing a 3rd party dialer app)?

Do you have Youmail installed by chance? Or any app that syncs to the dialer for contact info?

Huh. As a matter of fact, I do. I was thinking that YouMail may have been causing some issues but I was unable to troubleshoot it so that I could get the dialer to work again. Suggestions?? Thanks for your help so far :good:

Yeah I had the same problem. I ended up uninstalling youmail and I got in touch with them on their getsatisfaction.com forum. They pushed out an update, uninstalling and reinstalling with the new update fixed the problem for me.
I've been trying to use Moto Connect to send and receive sms messages from the Chrome browser but I'm getting a huge lag between receiving the message on my phone and it showing in the Moto Connect window. Any idea how to improve the update cycle for the extension.
I'm still on 4.2.2 and using Hangouts if that matters

Hi
I have a problem with hangouts
When sending messages and things it works fine. Only when calling or video calling it force stops. The video call and voice calling will work but as soon as i hit the "ok" button on the popup it says unfortunately hangouts has stopped. I use hangouts alot i keep in contact with many friends and family. What could be this problem. Please help out
Thanks in advance
Here's a screenshot of what it does
Note! My brother has the same phone and his is rooted as well. But hangouts has no problem on his phone. Both are running 4.4
Please get back to me A.S.A.P .
Hello I have my nexus 6 with sprint and intigrated/ported my number to Google voice. I am trying to use hangouts as my stand alone dialer but the problem is when I get calls both the native phone rings and hangouts at the same time. And prevents me from accepting a call. If I use hangouts the stock dialer will still be ringing in the background and if I answer with stock dialer well I won't be using hangouts. I turned off notifications for phone and that works randomly. I went to google voice and disabled forward to phones. I tried to disable stock dialer but that did nothing. When i disabled the other phone related apk's hangouts would jist glitch out or not connect. Side note when hide notifications is working the stick phone doesn't ring or interfere with hangouts but I still see a notification that I missed a call even though o answered with hangouts. So yea anyone else with this issue or know a fix?
