File obb - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i want paste game's data in file obb (/android/obb), but i can't that. I was try with a file explorer create a new file obb, bus that says i have a file with obb name, somebody have the same problem? Thanks

Yes I have the issue. May be a root access thing... I'm missing root

First off obb is not a file, its a directory. If the obb folder doesn't exist, create the folder. The game data goes in the obb folder.

You cannot access it @iwebsource. Nor can you create it.

Odd. Usually the /Android/ directory on the internal sdcard is writeable. On the nexus 5 it is anyways.
I'll check it out when my Moto X arrives

It is odd. When we get root access, all will be good then. Debloating of this will occur in the most aggressive way. Dang big red

I have the same problem, cant see the obb folder, when i try to create it it says that a folder with the name is already there(i have root) my solution till someone was:
create a obb folder somewhere else,
put all your obb folder example: obb (main folder)>>abc.com.l2(folder)>>file.obb
copy the obb main folder and paste it in /android/
select override

Just add this path in the "windows" in ES File Explorer:
/sdcard/Android/obb
Done!

where i could find the path? (..system/media/audio/notification).
i'm using ASTRO file manager but not finding the .../system ?
It's much easier to create a folder called /notifications on internal storage or SD card and copy the sound file there. It will be available as a notification ringtone then. (You also need root to copy to /system.)
Note that it does not need to be a top-level folder - you could have a directory structure like /sounds/notifications and /sounds/ringtones (as well as /sounds/ringtones for ringtones) and they will still show up.
"Copy Error"
when i try copy, i get "Copy Error"
java.io.FileNotFoundException:/system/media/audio/notification/ring.mp3(read-only file system)
????
You need to make sure you are creating the directory under sdcard, /mnt/sdcard. Based on what you reported, I feel you tried to create one from /system, of course it is read-only by default.
You will have no problem to create anything off /mnt/sdcard. Give it a try.

i already create directory on sdcard, the issue is how to point the directory files from: settings->sound->notification rington ?
You need to use a root explorer (es explorer) and tick the mount system as write. Motorola is funny with adding notification tones.

If the folder on the SD card is called "notifications", it will show up. This is standard Android, and is exactly what I have done with all of my phones since I have had one, and works with my Droid 3.
got it
using ES File Ex. getting write permission on 'system/media/notification' folder
and it's done

OBB access

Rooted pure. Can't view android/obb folder in any root explorer. I can verify it is there by switch to its directory in terminal emulator. However I can't write to it. "Error permission denied "
Does anyone know how to make it visible and set write permissions?
I am NON ROOTED
I can only add files or overwrite them, by making a obb folder anywhere else, putting the files in it ,then moving this folder inside the Android folder

Hmm. I can do that. However it say that folder exist so I have to overwrite it. Seeing that I can't view it I'm worried there might be something I need in it.

Same problem here
I tried changing permissions in terminal but I couldn't make it visible. It wouldn't even let me delete the folder because the device or resource is busy. It would be nice to fix this. Maybe with twrp you could delete the folder and make a new one that would be visible.

Hi,
I was also facing the same problem and by some hit and trial i was able to see the folder and write to it. This is what i did:-
1) I used ES File Explorer.
2)In it if you search for obb folder using the "search" option you are able to see the obb folder and the files in it.
If you want a step by step guide i have written it in the following page:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57161290&postcount=3

I saw that post. Thanks. I can get into the folder and write to it, but I would really like to make it visible. I think its really odd that with root you can view all the other folders, but not to the obb folder. If anyone knows why, that would be helpful.

[Q] how put files in obb folder in android l

How to put files in obb in android l because whenever i put some big games files in it.. Fir of all there is no obb file in internal android folder and when i make one the phones restarts. I m on android l not rooted
OBB file is game offline data which gets downloaded when you install any HQ game
Download obb file...
Create a folder named "obb" in Android folder of Internal storage..
then paste that downloaded obb file with the folder itself (id of game).

Step 1: create a obb folder on some other directory.
Step 2: place your desire game data on that created obb folder.
Step 3: then move that obb folder into the directory adroid.
Thats it.

Can't find obb folder! Some help?

Ive used my droid turbo for 18 month or so. I always enjoy the convenience of installing an app first and drag data into the obb folder under emulated/0/Android.
But yesterday, I can't find it anymore(all those app data is not lost). I wanted to create a new obb folder but the phone tell me that the folder already exists. When I connect the phone to my computers(both mac and windows), I still can't find the obb folder and as I drag in a blank obb folder that I've just created, my phone crashed and restart. I used shell to check permission and it turns out the folder is there and I have full permission to Read and Write. And I backed up my device and give it a wipe. But no luck.
So, I know that the obb folder is still there, but hidden. I think it may be the Es explorer since the problem happens after I used es explorer to clean app residue after deleting an app which could trigger the write protection?
So Im bit frustrated after working on the issue or this long. So Im asking you guys, have you ever run into issues like this? Is there a viable solution?

Can't copy files to OBB folder

Just like the title, I can't copy any files to the obb folder. I don't know why. I just installed Resurrection Remix on my A2. Is my obb folder locked? Please help me here.

Well, it didn't work. I was successful at deleting the obb folder first. Then I copied the obb I have for my game then tried starting it. The file I copied just suddenly deleted itself from the obb folder.
Now, I can't also delete the obb folder.
And can you copy files to it now

Still not. I was only able to copy files after deleting the obb folder for the first time. Then, after that, Im not able to copy again.
I wish someone could help me.
create a folder on adnroird named something else, then copy the folder that u want inside there and after that rename folder obb and it works
Try using a computer to transfer your files to OBB folder.
