Serendipity7 vs Cognition 5

Now that Cognition is up to 2.3 (Gingerbread), I was wondering what some thought about the pros and cons between it and Serendipity7. I'm presently on CM7, but like the idea of using stock gingerbread bootloaders and some of the Samsung apps (not so much any of the AT&T apps). But insights into ease of flashing, using CWM or Rom Manager, and merits of each would be great.
Every ROM is gonna have pros and cons.. and when you add different users to the picture.. the pros and cons change for each person. Your best bet would be to try them out for yourself and see which one you like. Likes and dislikes are gonna vary from person to person... also is the reason why these threads don't stay around long. This ROM vs. That ROM.. too many opinions. Read the changelogs.. see what this one has vs that one. Try this one for a few days, then try that one.
And since you asked, i prefer CWM over ROMManager for flashing.. but that's just me.

Thanks, I've been reading up on them both and will probably try them both out. Like you said, what's great for one might be a deal breaker for someone else. Just looking for a shortcut, maybe better that there's not one. ;-)

From my perspective this one is a very good ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380284
Be very careful not to get a yellow triangle on boot or increase the counter of your phone for flashing unsigned kernels. So please DO NOT flash custom kernels with ODIN. Use this instructions to root the Note the first time:

Hi I'm also a new user going from Desire...
Was wondering if rooting your phone destroys also a warranty?
And second if you guys have any good software for battery meter, ŽI saw on some posts that some Note's have how much time left, how often is backlight on etc. and all necessary stuff for battery
thanks
Sorry for stealing you thread but also wanted to post you question
btw. so happy with the phone just ordered this:
Toshiba OEM 32GB 32G microSD micro SDHC
and
BLACK HYBRID GEL KICK STAND TPU COVER CASE FOR Samsung Galaxy Note i9220 N7000
I like darkynote 2.4.1 with Abyss 2.5 kernel
I never flashed or rooted any phone, was reading thought this topic and got to tell you I'm kind of scared of doing it, specially on a expensive phone like this.
Waiting for my memory card to come then I'll consider doing it, hope you understand.

[Q] Which Custom rom is better?

Hello all,
Can someone please tell me which is the better custom Rom as far as features are concerned? I have sent my handset for replacement and waiting for a new one.. meanwhile I am collecting the material. I have downloaded the KA 03 rom but can someone please tell me how are the other roms? (RomAur v1.4.1 & TuRdZzROM v1.2.0) . I know I myself should test but I want just an experience from u guys..
This is a difficult question because there's no clear answer. It is up to you to decide which you think is best. For example I was a big cyanogenmod fanboy on my Xperia S but I also loved KA ROMs because they were so light and smooth. Someone else however may hate both cyanogenmod and KA, see what I mean? It's totally up to you to decide which is your favourite.
My advice is to try them all and see which you like best. After that perhaps you could share your views? I'd like to hear what you have to say

First Samsung device, what do I need to know?

Title speaks for itself really, I'm a long time Android user but this is my first Samsung device, just wondering if there's anything I need to know or do to optimise my device, I've done a little research before hand before I bought the device & I've read a few places that say the Exynos is underclocked & would be a beast if used at its full potential, so I've got a few questions:
1. Is there a kernel I should be using for better battery or faster speeds?, Or am I best staying on stock?
2. Root or no root?, Lemme know your opinions.
3. The hardware is great however I'm not sure about the software (yet), I'm gonna use the stock software and give it a chance but assuming I don't like it, is there a way to replace majority of the Samsung Apps with Google's?
Feel free to gimme your opinions and experiences, I appreciate any replies, look forward to see how you guys are finding your Note 9's :highfive:
