I was following the steps in the Bootloader & Recovery thread, but I don't have a factory cable and was using my USB. During the flashboot steps, I ended up using KFHDBackup for fastboot. Step 5 was going fine until I entered "fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot", then my device went red. I'm fully borked, aren't I. If I turn it off and back on again, for a microsecond I can see KindleFire, then it goes to a full red screen. Any advice would be great, but I have that feeling that I may have done my device in. :crying:
UPDATE: Ordered a fastboot cable from ebay, ran the tool from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 . Chose option 2. After first boot I was in recovery, selected factory reset. Kindle back up and running.
UPDATE 2: After restoring, got the 7.3 firmware update. The Bin4ry exploit will still root. Reinstalled Google play, leaving it that way for now.
UPDATE 3: With hashcode's updated bootloader and recovery, I was able to install them. Rooted kindle now running Kinology.
I should add...
I can no longer communicate between my device and PC. adb commands aren't working.

well. adb wont work, YOU NEED FASTBOOT. the first time i said that it wasnt needed, but now, i know it can save your life! and your $$$
If you have made a backup, now that reflash your backup files and it will be work well.

Hi,
I moved into a new house yesterday and when un packing I found an Amazon Kindle Fire HD that was basically left behind I went to plug it in to my phone charger Micro USB and it began too boot up but then stopped at the Fastboot logo with Kindle Fire under it. Ive never had a Kindle Fire before so not really sure what to do tried connecting it to my Laptop but nothing shows up i.e installs etc. I don't know if it would be bricked or a software fault and tried Power and Volume Up and Down to see if there is a recovery system but they isn't.
I hope one of you guys can help
Thanks
It doesn't show up at all on the device manager with a triangle next to it listed as Tate, jem, otter,or otter 2 does it?

when i plug my kindle in the pc it does show tate-pvt-08 in device manager and the kindle is stuck in fastboot mode.. any advice?
Right click the device, hit update drivers, download the drivers in my signature, and extract them, point the update device window to where you extracted my drivers and let it install them, if you are on windows 8 you will have to disable driver signature enforcement first. Once the drivers are installed I would suggest trying a simple
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot
that might kick it out of fastboot. Tell me how it goes.

Hello! First of all, i'm kind of a noob as far as kindle development issues concern, but i managed to install custom roms before (in fact, my brick problema began when i tried to upgrade to CM11 from goo.im). I am really desperate right now because i followed all the instructions in several threads but nothing helped me so far.
Here is my situation:
My kindle fire hd 7" is stuck at Fastboot mode after my failed attempt to upgrade from CM10.1 to CM11. My computer recognizes it as Tate-PVT-08 but it's not accepting any fastboot commands, except for "fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot". When i run this command, my kindle actually "reboots" but goes into fatboot mode again and again. When in "cmd", it doesn't recognize the devices either, but when run command "getvar" shows Tate-PVT-08. In conclusión, i want to know if there is a problema with the instalation of cmd in my PC, or if you can recommend any tool to restore my Tablet, even if it means going back to stock OS.
Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

I changed the cord because i realized that i'm already in fastboot mode, so don't need fastboot cable. When i run the command, the Kindle boot logo lasts for few more senconds than with fastboot cable, but still goes into fastboot mode again. Also tried pushing all posible buttons (At blue kindle ffire logo) to reach recovery mode but failed. I'm using Kindle Fire First Aide but doesn't seems to work either.

If you see the blue TWRP there may be hope without a doing a factory reset. Press the power button for 30 seconds and power down the KFHD7. Now hit power to turn the Kindle on and as soon as you see the yellow Kindle boot animation hold the volume rocker up and continue to hold it there until until you see the blue TWRP boot animation and continue pressing for three seconds, then release. Do you boot into TWRP? If you see the blue TWRP boot animation you should have it.

If you can get into TWRP that might be to your advantage because you can adb.sideload a ROM onto TWRP flash it and go on with it from there. KFFA has been down off and on. It was once a great tool but it needs updated and the Drop Box account associated with it is down at the momnent.

Mr LinearEquation, thank you so much for your advice.
Following a different thread i managed to boot into TWRP by flashing images of "Freedom Boot" and TWRP itself via fastboot commands. Now in theory i can flash a .zip of any ROM but the thing is that i cannot load zips to the Tablet. even though it's recognized now as KINDLE instead of Tate-PVT-08 in the Device Manager, i'm not able to see the kindle as a Pop-up window where you can drag-and-drop files to the Tablet.
The question is: How do i push a ROM via adb as you mentioned in your previous message? Do you know which file do i need and the proper command to push it?
Kindly Regards.

Have you looked at this page? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909 Maybe the unbricked section (part 6 of first page) can help in particular the SRT tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 . Hi I locked mine up also and used a program called
Demo Mode Restore. Basically you shut off your kindle and unplug the charge/data cable run the program and click enter once then says plug you kindle in and when it boots the program catches it before it starts up and all you have to do is follow the directions and when it restarts its like when you first took it out of the box
You`ll have to do a search for Demo Mode Restore
Hope this help. God Bless )

Hello.
I rooted my kfhd 7 10.4.6 successfully and naturally proceeded to twrp where it got stuck on a bootloop. Now that I have made a factoryboot I was wondering what rout I should follow to flash the rom?
Browsing the topics I see these options:
* continue the process installing the twrp...
* download a toolkit that allows backup
* install ADB
* get fff
Now I'm wondering if someone has just made a restore utility, is there a utility to just restore to the state of having a rom installed?
Also, since I don't care for restoring backups, is there an easier way to flash?
I really appreciate your advice.

Firefirefire is not for this device 1st off, you don't have a kfhd 2nd off. Kfhd is v7.x.x. You have a kf2. Kf2's are 10.x.x.

if your logo turns blue at this point, turn the device off and when you turn it back on hold volume up while the logo is orange and keep holding it even after it turns blue, it should then say twrp and go into twrp, from there you could push a rom and flash it. If the logo does not turn blue then i would put it in fastboot and use kindle fire first aid to restore it, and try again.
which rout should I go? restore or twrp?

It's been a while since I bricked. Perhaps it was 10.4.6 I can no longer access the settings the verify. But now that I have a factoryboot cable. I would just flash cyanogenmod. Now when I connect factoryboot it reads (in a fancy 3d text) "Fastboot" with a small "kindle fire" on the right side of it.
I originally followed a youtube video that had links for freedom boots, twrp, etc... to this forum, but then again I must have downloaded incorrect versions.. I'm not concerned with the date. So I'm wondering if it's easier to restore or continue with twrp.
Here are some links I was looking at:

There are too many guides, here ... which is really great. But the process of download, verification, transfer (to a pc).
If I cant brick this device any harder than it is, I will follow each guide...
stunts513, the fire logo does not turn blue. In fact I was taking a video when it was loading ... (it's a funny video about
a guy who bricked his device)
I had the same issue... I forgot to remove a script before flashing twrp. Maybe it is the same for you. Did you followed carefully the tuto ?
In my situation, I managed to go into fastboot (with fasboot cable), flashed stock ROM, and did the flashing process from the beginning..
Hope it may help

If you only have fastboot access right now i suggest restoring with srt or kindle fire first aid. Afterwards you can start the twrp process over again, we can't simply flash cm from fastboot, if everything else isnt in place like the stack file or the bootimg and a old version of the bootloader then it wouldn't work. Fastboot should be in utilities like kffa and srt

There are so many options it seems, but I think I know what to do now (please let me know if it's not a incorrect course):
First, download and Kindle fire first aid from here, to restore back to and then follow the instruction here in order to start twrp and flashing.

I have download and installed many sdks and drivers and checked md5.. while at it. kffirstaid does not really seem to connect with the device. And some messing around with the drivers did occur, uninstalling/reinstalling through downloads and through kffirstaid. It now announces as tate-pv-08 though a triangle is showing next to Android ADB Interface in device manager.. I think something is missing.. Is java sdk necessary? because it doesn't install ..
yeah
If I didn't mess around with my Kindle I would be reading through Dante's levels of hell which is more pleasant than all this troubleshooting ..

Hi. Someone yanked out the factory-boot cable and I quickly ordered the scorpion king cable. I downloaded kffirst aide again and there's been a massive update. Running a restore showed all signs of success. But then after restoring it to normal boot, I get kindle fire logo showing and then the boot loop continues.
If kffa fails then try SRT.

Success!!! The kindle Fire 2 7 has been restored to software version 10.2.3
and yet the bootloop continues to plague the brick..
That means the files it tried to flash didn't exist on your computer. Try srt, it includes those images.

Oh wait yea kf2 didn't have a SRT.... My bad. Yea in that case you will need the kf2 I ages, kffa is supposed to download them for you but it's possible the links went down for the files.
Okay so hey guys, so first off I've searched all over the forums for a potential fix with no such luck so i'm finally making a post seeing if anyone has a fix.
So the issue, my Kindle Fire HD 7"(2012 version) is rooted, TWRP is installed, and i tried flashing Cyanogen mod 12.1(clean flash, not a dirty flash), everything went fine until CM 12.1 started booting up. At this point the little blue android head loading comes up before the screen transitions to a "optimizing apps 1 of 95" window, when that gets done it goes back to the blue android head before transitioning to another "optimizing apps 1 of 16" window, once that completes it just alternates between the CM blue android logo and another "optimizing apps 1 of 16".
I have tried turning off and booting in TWRP recovery mode by holding the up volume button until the blue fire logo displays and then letting go(even tried holding it and not letting go) but it just waits 15-20 seconds on the blue fire logo before transitioning again to the CM blue android boot up logo and beginning a boot loop again.
I also have tried ADB to get into recovery mode but my kindle is unauthorized, it's recognized when i type in the command "adb devices" it's just not authorized. Apparently to authorize it, when you try to get adb to recognize it and it says it isn't authorized, a prompt on whatever device you are using comes up once you unlock the screen asking whether or not you want to authorize said device with said computer. I know this because that's what came up on my phone when i tried to get adb to recognize it, once i accepted it it became authorized and i could use commands with it such as simply rebooting it. I have yet to find a way to authorize my kindle through the terminal rather than through the device itself.
I have not tried the kindle fire first aide as the link for that .zip file on this site takes me to a file storage website that says the shared file or folder link has been removed, so if anyone knows where that .zip file is and thinks it will solve me issue, link me to it please.
I also have not tried Kindle Fire Utility as to my knowledge that tool is for original Kindle Fires only, if that is wrong and it will work just as well for Kindle Fire HD 7"(2012 version) then sorry for my noobness in that aspect.
If no one knows of or has a potential fix i can still buy a fastboot cable and figure out how to fix it through there, i was just wondering if there was any alternative method before i bought one.
Thanks to all who will contribute to me fixing this problem! -Mayhem

How did you do it?
Hello.
I have rooted a Kindle Fire HD 7" (2012) and installed CyanogenMod (cm-12.1-20151211-NIGHTLY-tate.zip) with TWRP. All was ok.
After 5 days of normal use, for cleaning the Kindle, I made a reset by Android classical option, in settings. And the Kindle won't restart !
In starting, the "Kindle Fire" shows in orange.
Few seconds later, the "Kindle Fire" shows in blue.
Few seconds later, a blue screen called "Teamwin" shows and hide approximately each 2 seconds.
So, I think my Kindle is bricked but perhaps have you got a solution ?
Thanks.
PS : sorry for my english, I am a french user.
So, I used the Kindle Fire HD recovery tool (found in this forum) for try booting with first option (Restore-Factory Rooted with SuperSU.apk). The process is done it correctly, the files copied. In the center of the screen, a little logo "fastboot" show. I thinked it's good, but after reboot, the Kindle loop now with the original logo orange "kindle fire" and won't starting. What's the matter ?
You need to do recovery and boot as well. I would also wipe data
OK, but I don't know how to do. I have tryed these commands (with the drivers) :
Code:
adb push fbmode /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/fbmode
adb shell /data/local/tmp/fbmode
adb reboot
But not recognition of the device...
News.
I made a DIY factory cable and I succeeded in restarting the tablet. I have re-rooted it, reinstalled CyanogenMod and she works perfectly. However, after the installation, I realized that I did not have access anymore to the root (in Android setup, the root access is even so selected). I tried of the re-rooting with Restore_by_Bin4ry but unsuccessfully.

You have to change Root Access to "Disabled" in developer options, and then toggle it back to "Apps and ADB". Once you do that, root works flawlessly.

First, download and unzip the KFHD_SRT_v1.3.5- 7.3.0 found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254
- Double clic on SR Tool.bat
- Connect the Kindle with factory cable
- Select option 1 and hit Enter
- Wait during restore (no ETA display)..........
- When done, select option 6 for reboot the Kindle.
When reboot, if it's ok :
• Logo Kindle Fire orange
• Logo Kindle Fire blue
• TWRP interface displayed
• Reinstall CyanogenMod
When reboot, if troubleshooting, TWRP don't show. Well :
• Close the Kindle in press a few seconds the power button and restart. A amazing "listing" show, with error messages and only 2 options.
• With the + and - buttons, select the original Amazon Android restore (I forgot the exactly label) and press one time the power button for validate. Wait during restore..........
After, follow this video for re-rooting, flashing and reinstall CyanogenMod : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVuvR-hHOLE
So, I hope you will to know my english language.
Thank you for the detailed reply...
Sorry for the late reply, Enabran. Your English is very good, and is way better than my French
I have not been able to attempt to do this yet because I have not yet got the fastboot cable that I ordered from ebay yet.
I will attempt to do this this coming week. Your instructions are very concise and clear.
Which version of cynogenmod do you recommend? Could you post the link/instructions to get the cyanogenmod version that you have on your kindle?
Thanks again,
dyg

My version is : cm-12.1-20151216-NIGHTLY-tate.zip
The Kindle Fire HD 7" 2012 is called "tate"
The link : http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=tate
I'm not an expert and I just taken the lasted "nightly" version when I had rooted the device.
Note : since the root and the flash, it's the day and the night compares with Android Amazon Stock. The Kindle goes fast...
Couple more questions
Hi Enabran,
Thanks for the quick replies.
Yes, I had it working on the cynagenmod and noticed it to be faster than my iPad Air in loading webpages and such.
I am in this state because I installed a nightly that then caused issues with the google services; which then resulted in me not thinking through properly and doing a reset via settings and thus brought me to this state.
I got my cable yesterday and was wondering if you could help me with a couple of questions:
1) My tate was running 7.5 if I remember correctly, am I still okay to follow the steps you detailed above?
2) I am not a windows user, but have an old machine running Windows 7 Enterprise (64 bit) - when I tried to follow the steps you mentioned, I am getting a message saying "fastboot is not a recognized internal or external command" - did you run into that problem?
Thanks again for your help - I sincerely appreciate it.
Cheers,
dyg

1) So, I think yes. The different stages are the sames.
2) Did you plug the cable before execute SR_Tool.bat or after ? Try before and after but in the 2 options, plug the factory cable in tablet before in PC. See too this topic :

Now, my main tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 in 9.6". It's faster than Kindle. Fortunately moreover because with its price and its technical characteristics, that would be unfortunate.
hi Enabran,
thanks
I have gotten past the fastboot is not a valid internal or external command error - thanks for sharing the link. Additionally I had to reinstall the Kindle ADB drivers.
I ran the batch file and here's the log:
>>
sending 'system' (907264 KB)...
OKAY [312.221s]
writing 'system'...
OKAY [ 72.881s]
finished. total time: 385.167s
Welcome Back
Press any key to continue . . .
<<
For rebooting, should I use the non-factory cable? Because when I try to reboot with the factory cable, it shows the Kindle logo for a brief moment and shows the fastboot logo like before.
Please do reply when you have a few minutes - thanks again.

For rebooting, yes, you will want to use the non-factory cable.
Sent from my Amazon Jem using XDA Labs
thanks @monster1612
I had problems with the reboot and ended up resolving this by using option 4 & then 3. ps that this did not work initially and I downloaded 7.4.8 from the thread that @Enabran mentioned to get this to work.
I have now unbricked my kindle, and plan to wrap up the rest of the stuff later this week.
thanks again for keeping an eye on this thread and helping out @Enabran and @monster1612.
Cheers!
