Choosing kernel - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all!
I usually don't make this kind of questions for my Phone, but i don't own an i9070. I'm asking it for my girlfriend's one.
I'm searching for a good kernel, stable as possible, with ZZmove governor, overclock and zRAM. I would like, IF POSSIBLE, to find all those things in one kernel, but for AOSP-based ROMS.
I've found this information in not all kernel OPs, then i can't discern between Samsung and AOSP based. So i'm asking here.
Can someone recommend a valid kernel for a 4.4.4 OmniROM?
Thank you in advance!

I think that you will not find one. As I remember there is only one kernel for Omni. Devs did not create moded ones for it (for I9070).

Thank you for your quick reply.
And there are no moded kernels for 4.4.4 AOSP ROMs? Can you confirm OmniROM to be the lightest and more stable ROM for i9070?

I can't confirm, because I just installed Omni 4.4, and used it for 2 days. There is one modded I think, but not sure. Look in original development section of I9070 forum part.

[Q] Hi guys,new here!

So I just got a Galaxy Note N-7000 from my dad,and it is already rooted,
but I'm looking to replace my ROM so I have a few questions (hope this is the right place to open this thread in,if not - sorry in advance):
1.Can anyone recommend a JB based rom with nice (not the most important factor to me) design, that mainley runs smooth and FC-free?
[Also very important to me - I need something I can install hebrew on)
2.Does anybody know any JB based roms that have full hebrew support?
[This is the only one I have found :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2208589
and I'm not so sure about it,any feedbacks for pros&cons for this ROM will be greatly appreciated. ]
Thank you!

Welcome!
That is a nice TW (stock samgsung software) based rom, with some tweaks and a diferent kernel you can make it really fast.
On the other hand, as you said you want it to look good I'd recommend you to use VengeanceNote TW, as it's MIUI over the TW base. It is fast. It is beautiful. I'm not sure about the hebrew support tough, you might want to head to the thread and ask there. The dev, Gerrett, is preetty nice and wil most definitely help you as much aas he can.
If you want to use an AOSP ( Google software ) I'd most definitely recommend you Asylum + NX Kernel. This is as fast as my note has ever been. Don't worry about everyone on the thread being crazy tough. Thay are nice after you get used to them
Anyway, good luck with your phone You'll love it

First of all - thank you very much for your quick comment
It's good to meet nice and kind people like you! :good:
Second of all - about that VenganceNote TW - it looks very nice but I had a very bad experience with MIUI on my old SGS,
tons of FC and sometimes I coulden't take calls.
Do you know if this one is stable?
Also,do you know anything about this one ? :

You're lucky then, I had FC on all ROMs i've used on my SGS
I've used VengeanceNote for a long time. It is very stable indeed. Only problem i could remember is that it had a duplicated root manager app, but if you opened the right one you would have no problem at all. I'm just waiting for a custom kernel to support it so i can jump back to it.
Never used Carbon Rom itself, but from what i've experienced with this all-in-one roms, they're not very stable.
I'd say if you're interested on AOSP Asylum is the way to go. It's really clean and fast. And if you don't like the all black look you can always install CM10 themes

I think that would be great,as I said I'm looking for a fast, clean ROM and Asylum sounds perfect,
just 2 more small questions:
1.About that kernel you've recommended,is it mendatory to install with Asylum or I can just stick with my PhilZ kernel ?
2.I would love it if you could explain to me how to install some CM10 themes and where to get them !

Nop, you can use phlz for flashing, but Asylum will overwrite it with CM10 kernel. But i recommend flashing NX after you flashed the rom. It has OC support and GPU clock control. It makes things really smooth.
About the themes you can get them on play store or on some threads here on xda. A quick google search for "CM10 theme" will show you lots of results.

Any specific reason you want to stick with it?

Ummm, actually no,my dad just recommended it to me he said PhilZ is one of the best kernels developers out there,
and that its very safe to use his recovery (maybe I didn't understand correctly but I heard there was a problem some time ago with
ICS kernels/wiping or something, and that this phone got bricked once because of that)
He also said speedmod is great, but I dunno that guy or his kernels lol.

Indeed he's a great dev, and he saved many of us from bricking our devices
On stock samsung kernels, there's a bug, that when you wipe your data partition on recovery it corrupt's the memory chip, rendering it useless. So if you are going to use stock roms on your phone, either don't wipe or stick to safe kernels.
On the other hand, the AOSP kernels don't show such behaviour and are generally safe. So if your going with Asylum, don't worry. You're safe.

No, unfortunatelly you can't add thos features on any AOSP rom. Neither those nor Snote and other TW apps.
VengeanceNote include them tough. Seems you have to make your choice
No problem man I felt lost when i've changed my phone, and if someone haven't made the same thing for me i would have probably bricked it

Hey guys, I know this is probably a dumb question. But it is better to say oh well than what if.
Can i have cyanogenmod 10.1 and badseed kernel running together? I have a Sprint HTC One I have S-Off and write protection disabled fully rooted.
No. CM is AOSP and badseed is made for sense roms. With CM or any AOSP based roms you have to use an AOSP based kernel.

Well, they do exist or we couldn't run AOSP ROMs on our devices. No dev has made a flashable zip of thier AOSP kernel available for our device.
Sorry, I thought custom/separate kernel was implied.
Thank you!
Thank you guys so much, I just had to make sure i had that cleared up. This community is the best.

Sorry to ask for this, I know I should install and test for myself the rom,
But I just would like to know how is the battery life on this rom?
What about the power button? Does it work properly? Because I had this issue on android 4.3 based rom's.
And the camera? Clear images and sharper?
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards from Brazil
By the way, in my opinion android 4.2.2 is the most stable atm

Build that we currently have ported by Demetris is 4.2.2 and for me it is the best custom rom out there.Camera and battery are great even with stock app and stock kernel.Alwayse switching between MIUI and LiquidSmooth.Flash it and test is for couple of days yourself and see if you are satisfied.
Greetings from Serbia

It's even easier for YOU to test it yourself. Backup your current setup and flash it. Most of the mentioned bugs aren't even for everybody and it is actually quite hard for the devs to make a full list of bugs which occur for every single user.
If you don't agree with that it's your fault. The devs are doing an awesome job here and they do it because they want to.

In my honest opinion, bugs should be on the OP if they are known bugs. It's a matter of structure and information. But that's just me
From what I understood, carbon is a "fork" from Liquid and I think it's a compilation from source and not a port, right? If so, is it possible to compile Liquid from source as well ?
This question is for someone who knows or a developer

They stated that Carbon rom doesnt have anything to do with liquid team. Also if you look at title on older liquid builds by demetris you will see it says "Official" so i think it is possible to compile from source.Asked demetris long time ago about liquid future for our phone but still no answer.

No, they stated the following:
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. The team is composed of former members of Team Liquid who have forked the code in an attempt to bring greater speed, better coding, and full authorship to code. We are in no way affiliated with Liquid0624. The rom was forked at Liquid beta 3.2.1 and has since undergone major code changes and modifications.

They "forked" the code, although it was changed a LOT, a fork is a fork
Anyway, I'm gonna have a look later on see if Liquid can be compiled for our p880.

Far as I understood the source is published.
Will see what I can do during the weekend

And yeah, I agree, I'm pretty happy with CM10. 1.3. Although I do miss the privacy features from 4.3.
Mods can lock and delete this since demerits answered our prayers and ported new version.

[Kernel] FPBug: First really stable 4.x kernel for the Galaxy Note n7000

FPBug: Meet the very first stable kernel for the Galaxy S2 i9100, S2 AT&T i777, S2 Epic 4G Touch d710 and Note n7000 since Gingerbread days
Every single Android 4.x kernel for these devices has had a serious bug (FPBug) that randomly corrupts the state of processes, starting with Samsungs's stock ICS and JB and spanning every custom kernel out there newer than Gingerbread.
Please refer to the main thread for details.

@Lanchon thank you soooo much for all of your hard work for our device even tho you don't even own them!
Hope this is not rude, but may I ask if you plan on releasing a kernel (or kernels) for non-CM-based ROMs? Or are you planning to let them devs themselves merge the fix, and only release CM kernels?
Sorry if this was rude, please ignore me or sth if it was.
Once again, thank you for all or your hard work.
Wow thanks
Does FPBug related somehow to kitkat overheating and random reboots?

Omnystal and Kernels In General

Hi all, I'm looking for the Omnystal Kernel and apparently the link for that kernel has been taken down on 4PDA. I'm just wondering if someone could upload and PM me with a download link.
Moving onto custom kernels in-general, we have a lot of discontinued and mostly unstable kernels. The least unstable of them all is AndroModX which was my goto before I realized it stripped 2 hours worth of SoT. I'm just wondering if someone could build us a stable custom kernel for our device, it would be much appreciated! Thank you for your time.

Ah okay, yeah that's pretty much the only thing a custom kernel would be good for since most AOSP/ Lineage ROMs default kernel gives acceptable performance; which is part of the reason for lack of kernels but if Darkness Killer is bringing out a new one that'll help feel the void.
I was getting the reboot bug using MIUI and Omnystal Kernel did fix it when it was available but now I've been using ycjeson kernel when I use MIUI as it fixes the issue just as Omnystal did.
