can't seem to send vCard via native People app. Only Dialer One works.
Is there a setting I've missed?

well we can see on your screenshot that your signal strength is 0/5, pretty normal that you can't not send mms with poor signal.

can you also see that WiFi Calling is engaged?
and, as I said, I have no problem when using Dialer One.
But thanks for your input. Must be cold up there.

Hey guys I just got an HTC Vivid a few days ago and I love the phone, the screen is such an upgrade from my iPhone 4(in usability).
I do have an issue where I cannot receive any MMS messages at all. I can send them just fine and I can sent receive regular texts, but picture messages just come up with a download button but once pressed it will say downloading and switch back to saying download.
I already called AT&T about it and they where unable to do anything about it. Any ideas? If I do not get this figured out by Monday, I will likely try to exchange my phone...
Make sure you have a LTE data plan provisioned and you have selected the default apn. Also you may want to go into a corp store and get a new sim.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
i had this problem about 1.5 weeks ago and it was a network issue... it was resolved within a day or 2... what usually worked for me was to reboot the phone, after ATT fixed the problem then all was good.
It was indeed an issue with the default APN settings. After setting the APN to what is described in the link below my MMS works 100% perfectly! Thanks for the help.

How does one make changes to the APN settings? Mine are locked and greyed out.

I don't have Vivid in front of me ATM but maybe you can try and create a new APN instead of modifying the existing one.
Yes you can press the options button and create a new APN.
Sorry for the bump of a thread. This is what I get. "One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal".
Sender was using an iphone 4. I can receive other pictures from my friends 4s.
Would updating the AP fix this and would doing so effect anything with the network?
Sorry I am a noob.

I've had this same issue when I was sending a picture to a friend with an iPhone 4. That's the message they received when trying to open the MMS.
So recently, most of my texts haven't been sending /receiving. It's pretty random, and sometimes it works, but the last couple of days it's been really buggy.
Anything I should try?
What messaging app are you using? Have you altered the APN settings at all? Is it SMS? MMS? Both?

using the default SMS app. NO, haven't messed with anything.
Besides rebooting your device, you could call T-Mobile ask them about it. Could be a network problem
happens ALL the time for me in nyc over the last two months. what fixed it for the most part for me is switching to 2g/3g and forget LTE. :-/

Yeah it could just be a network problem. I was having issues the other night with MMS (serious lag and then a flood of incoming messages). Hope you can get it worked out!

What carrier are you on? What messaging app do you use?
Those questions have to be answered before you can receive help.
You might have to modify your APN settings to send MMS messages.

Are you running stock 5.1 or computerfreeks version those both worked no problem on straight talk for me but any of the Roms like cm or RR need the APN reset the settings are posted somewhere in the forum I can do some digging and look or repost them if that's the case. So what software are you running and we can continue trying to figure this out. And I assume you have a Verizon towers straight talk sim and are not a GSM sim
stock 5.1....
just flashed su4tl-44-twrp.zip and think it fixed it

So this is a screen shot of my APN on straight talk running modified 5.1 check and see if yours is the same I am at work right now but I will try and flash to stock and double check the settings with it. Also what messenger app are u using. I never could get the Verizon messenger to work for me I had to use the standard msg program and make sure to check the settings there to make sure it's set for sms
exactly the same and using same messager
only other problem is periodic pop up spam

Hey guys. I'm coming from a S7 so I will use that as a reference for what I'm trying to do.
On the S7 if I sent a text message to two or more people I can reply all in the same thread or had the option via a little check box to send the messages individually. However, when I send or receive a group message I'm getting individual messages.
It sucks because if someone sent me a group text I can't see who else they sent the message too. And if I can only reply to it individually not as a single thread.
I hope I explained this properly. Does anyone know if there is a setting I'm missing here or is this "feature" not supported on MIUI stock messenger app?

Total PITA but that's the way MIUI handles texts unfortunately. I have looked for a solution but haven't been able to find one...

This is really pissing me off! I even tried 3rd party apps like Google Messenger app but it simply couldn't send the message. Pretty damn annoyed right now

I'm with you...I tried editing APN's, multiple 3rd party apps, etc. and can't get a solution. It's one of the things I have to live with for the time being.
Yeah, it really sucks because I have a handful of co-workers and friends that I use the group text with and now I can't use it. It's nuts that it's not supported.
Like you, I tried messing with APN settings and 3rd party apps but to no avail. If you find a solution please let me know because I'm seriously annoyed right now
I seem to have it working on an app by app basis. It works best from the default messaging app, but I hope this is something that will be fixed in the future.

What network are you on and what are your APN settings? I don't even think the default messaging app has settings pertaining to group text...not as far as I could see
I found Textra to be the best workaround for this. It has some smarts to figure out the group messaging... better than others at least.

AT&T, and their suggested settings for NXTGENPHONE
TextNow is an awesome app I found that lets you make WiFi Calls and also text over WiFi and of course supports group text messaging.
However, you will have to choose a new # which is not really a huge deal. Just another option for you guys. Been using it for a couple days and it works great!
I will try Textra as well and see if it works.
Textra is the solution . Supports GIF too

Yes, it is. That is what I used for messaging now. TextNow is good for WiFi text and calls though.
