Hi guys,
I have an old Xperia T which was in the middle of being flashed with a 4.3 based firmware but there was a problem with the install. I didn't care too much at the time because i already had a new phone, but now I'm trying to get it working again as a possible backup.
My problem with it now is that when i switch it on, it will display the Sony logo and then the screen goes black, apparently freezing. I have tried to charge it overnight but the light always stays red, never goes green. When i try to connect via my laptop (Windows 8.1) i can't get the laptop to read the phone, the USB will bring up the red light on the phone and the phone will even boot to the Sony logo but then....well, nothing. I have also tried booting into recovery but again nothing.
I'm not expecting a wonder fix, i think the phone is maybe bricked but at the same time i haven't the most knowledge on these matters. I have Googled various sites that have similar problems with different models and each one seems to be fixed with the Sony PC Companion - but like i said, my laptop doesn't even recognise there's a device plugged in.
If anyone has any suggestions it'd be appreciated, but like i said, i don't expect to find a cure, just hoping i can say i haven't bricked a phone like a n00b
Thanks for your time
Dude ... relax.
If the phone still shows the SONY logo, nothing is lost.
Step 1: Download Flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Step 2: Download an appropriate Firmware in the FTF format from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648320
Step 3: Ensure the driver for the phone is installed and works correctly.
Step 5: In Flashtool, select the lightning "Flash device", then Flashmode. Select your folder where you store the Firmware.
Step 6: Click the flash button and turn off your phone. If you connect it via USB to your PC, press immediately POWER + VOLUME DOWN. The notification LED turns green and the flash process begins.

Hi all,
Try to help my brother here, he's not that proficient with tech, anyway, he did a software update, and official one, something to do with Lollipop and now his phone keeps restarting. Sometimes it's a boot loop, sometimes it turns on, you get the Sony screen, the powered by Android screen, you a wavy live wallpaper, then the wallpaper freezing and the phone turns off. Just as I type this it turned itself on again, and is going through the same process, wavy live wallpaper now. I've currently got the phone plugged in to charge, doesn't make a different.
He tried using the PC companion tool, or whatever Sony call it, but that did nothing. The SD has been removed so we know it's not that.
One time I got a popup saying "InitialBootSetup is failing to respond, would you like to close it or wait?". So yeah, things are screwed.
I've rooted and flashed things on my phone but not this phone, this phone in completely stock. What should be my next step? Will it even be recognised in adb in this state? Still on that wavy screen moving about, not frozen yet. The power of volume do not respond while this wavy wallpaper screen is going, phone cannot be turned off.
Would appreciate all help that is given, thanks!
Edit: From my understanding the phone was already on Lollipop, this was just an incremental update, possibly to 5.1 or 5.1.1. It's been dead for more than a week now, when he showed it to me today, the first thing it did was show the "Android is upgrading" thing then all of this started, that is no longer showing.

5.1 or latest hasn't been released yet, so that phone hasn't tried to upgrade to higher than 5.0.2 version. If flashmode is working you can give a try to flash stock .FTF
To enter flash mode, turn off your phone completely and wait at least 30 seconds.
After that, whilst holding Volume Down, plug in your phone in USB, LED indicator will flash once and your PC will recognize your phone (I suppose)
And you're free to go

Trouble is the phone won't turn off, at least not for long enough. Finally got it to turn off after repeatedly pressing the power button but 5 seconds later it turned on again.

Sweet that did it, thanks. Any chance there's a step by step guide for the next part? Haven't rooted a phone in ages, let alone flashing a file I've never had to flash before. Already got ADB, fastboot and all that, just need a bit of direction on what to do with it.

Ok, you just made me confused 'cause you said you've fastboot and etc., anyway.
Just find any desired .FTF for LB here: HERE
For example, :THIS
After downloading .FTF you need to have flashtool by androxyde. After installing flashtool, put downloaded .FTF into /firmware(s) folder and run Flashtool(/x64).exe
Push the "Lightning" button and choose "Flashmode". Then choose the correct .FTF and check all the checkboxes (or choose what do you want to leave, for example, if you'll untick "DATA", your phone's data won't be touched at all). Then pop-up will come up and you don't need to follow at these instructions, you just have to plug in your phone in Flashmode and after you'll do that release the volume UP button and wait while flasher will end all the process.
And when you'll see "unknown sources has been.." or "flashing ended" you can turn on your phone. It could take up to 15 minutes to load.
By the way, it's recommended to have at least 70% of your battery otherwise you can brick/soft-brick your device.
Good luck!

It worked! Thanks a lot! Appreciate it. Took a while to boot but after that, usual setup screen and all good, running 5.0.2. Flashtool is great.

ANDROID EXPERT NEEDED TO REPAIR BRICKED PHONE
Anyone in my area know how to fix a soft bricked Android phone? I have a Sony Xperia Z3 compact that is not responsive and I've tried everything and scoured the internet, mostly XDA, on how to get it back. I was trying to flash the Sony Concept Marshmallow ROM with the Boot and OTA, per the instructions in the thread. I wiped my device, flashed ROM, Boot, and OTA. Then I rebooted my device and then nothing, but a black screen and no response from the phone. It does not boot up or turn on. The screen does not flicker or anything. I can hold volume down and power and it will vibrate, but still nothing on the device. I can hold volume up and plug in the device and it will show me the blue led that it is connected to fast boot, but I cannot seem to do anything with it at that point. My computer does recognize it, but I can't figure out what to do from there with Flashtool or any other software.
If you are available where we can meet up that would be fantastic. I'm in the Chicago suburbs.

I think you phone isn't really bricked Try this, maybe it will help:
1. Download newest flashtool
2. Download proper .ftf file from the general section
3. Launch flashtool, plug your phone while holding vol down and wait until the drivers install. Unplug the phone after the drivers install.
4. Click a small thunder-shaped button in flashtool
5. Navigate to a folder with your .ftf file
6. You will see a menu where you can select what to flash and what not to flash. You might want to have everything from the top right window selected (data, cache, apps log will be wiped) and everything from the window below NOT selected (everything will be flashed). Click flash and wait for the files to be prepared.
7. You will see a window with the instructions how the phone should be plugged to a computer. Again, plug the phone while holding vol down, the LED will flash green.
8. Wait for the files to be flashed. If you get any error, try the flashing again after restarting flashtool. If you still get errors, reboot the computer and try again.
I hope this will work and instructions are not messed up but clear to you, I wrote them quickly.

Thank you and these instructions are clear. I have tried all this, but the issue is the Phone isn't recognized properly.
And my Flash tool isn't recognizing .ftf files.
Not sure if this will help ... but in your situation guess one is willing to try anything
Try using Flashtool 0.9.10.2beta6 - this version doesnt require USB Debugging to be turned on - which may be the reason the phone isnt recognized properly???
Looks like your boot.img have gone
Now download stock rom and flash only the boot.img,it may work
Good luck
I had something of a similar issue very recently where flashtool wouldn't do it after i had by stupid mistake wiped EVERYTHING.. I think i had lost boot.img. On startup i would get the very first Sony Xperia screen and then nothing else.
After kicking around a few threads for information i downloaded an older version of flashtool, 0.9.18.5, flashed a complete stock rom with that and all was well.

Hmmm.......curious and you have my sympathy.
Did you have any joy at all with an older version of flashtool? From what i have read around the place if you are getting ANY response from the phone at all in terms of the LED or vibration when power and vol up or down pressed then all is NOT lost. Seems it may be a matter of finding the right combinations of tools and ftf files .
When i was mucking around trying to resurrect mine i did have to install drivers (from the directory in flashtool) more than once as i tried different combinations. Was using my Win7 machine at work rather than my Win10 home PC.
good luck. Will be interested to see the outcome of this as any fix is good to know about.

i don't realy know, i think locked because i just do what i written.
got an broken D5803 and hoping to fix it with your help.
(i have no clue what happend to the phone so far)
if i power it on, the notification led is red the sony and xperia sign shows on the screen, but after a short time it restarts.
i can turn it into flahsmode and fastboot mode also.
if i turn it into flash mode and try to flash a firmware with flashtool it goes through the process. but when it restarts, nothing have changed. even the version number havent changed in emma or in flashtool.
any bets what it could be?
i am almost shure its an hardware defect. most propably the main board. but i ask myself what exactly could be broken?!
thanks in advanced for any help.
and sorry for my bad english
oh, and i do tried to search for the same problem and had no success to find the same problem.
EDIT: something new happend. i tried the repair function in the pc companion. flashed again. after restart the battery symbol showed up. battery level low and red. but when i connect it to my charger. the "bootloop" restarts...
I had a similar problem.
My phone went to the bootlogo (blue waves) and started to buzz for five till ten seconds and went to a restart (bootloop).
I am not sure, why that happened, but I think, it was because of a russian firmware (downgrade to Android 4.4.4 for flashing a custom recovery and root).
At first, try to fully recharge your battery (recommended for a firmware flash).
If your phone restarts into bootloop after you connect your charger cable, try to hold the power button until you feel a three-times-vibration. Now your phone should be absolutely powered off.
Download following firmware to your computer: "D5803_23.0.A.2.93_Generic_GLOBAL_1286-9917" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56138053&postcount=27 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58418863&postcount=358)
If your phone is fully recharged, open flashtool and load that firmware into the flashtool.
The system will now ask you to connect your phone in flash mode with your pc.
Now connect your phone with your pc in flash mode.
I am not sure, but flashtool is asking you a question after the flash mode is recognized. I answered with No.
The flashtool should now install the Android 4.4.4 firmware to your phone.
I hope the steps above may help you.
Hi guys, this is my first time trying to flash a smartphone and i had no luck. After i press the power button nothing happens, only a small vibration and a little green led blink. :crying:
I'm trying to flash the stock ROM through Flashtool but my Xperia SP keeps disconnecting and connecting after a minute in Flash mode, the green light turn OFF for a second then ON again every minute. But if connected in Fastboot mode the device keeps connected normal but I cant select the .FTF file. I have no idea what to do now.
I bought it last year second hand its my first smartphone im broke as **** i cant believe its not working anymore. My last phone was a Nokia 5310 that i used until decomposition, literally. Sorry for bad english.
Please help.
share the instructions that you followed.
Did you root your phone and unlocked the bootloader, installed recovery ?
it is possible that your drivers are not properly installed, try using windows 7
I have similar issue but phone is not bricked it's charging really really slowly. And I don't know issue of it? If someone can link some room that don't have this issue that would be g8.
