Questions about the Note 4? I have a T-Mobile variant and the speaker near the front facing camera became loose and is tad uneven. I want to get it exchanged from T-Mobile for a warranty exchange. What's the likelihood they give me a refurbished model? I know the phone has a short supply for the White, but I have the Black model and the phone has been out for less than 2 months with supply issues lingering. Thoughts as well?
Highly likely.

Nobody has reported receiving a refurbished unit yet. I'd exchange asap. We're in a window where they don't have any refurbished units.

That's good. I went to T-Mobile today to process it since their new policy requires "stores to examine the product and then you call customer care to process the exchange based on notations." That's after your "one time exchange over the phone." I had the S5 and it was a pain in the butt, so I had to go through several exchanges. How can you tell if the unit is a refurbished model or if it's brand new?

I did call T-Mobile before hand when I placed my replacement request. They said it's "probably going to be a new model since our stock on refurbished is pretty low since it's a relatively new phone, but we cannot guarantee it is new or refurbished."
I received my replacement one on Thursday, was new. Still **** though ( worse than original one ) as I am being OCD like a bit**. Short story search for pink hue screen issues on here which will detail the so called problems.
Sent the replacement back and kept my original one. Talking to myself now.. " Why do you give a flying sh** about some flaws and stress, when you know damn well you change phones every twelve months or less anyways!, I mean most of these so called issues are no doubt within manufacturers tolerance spec levels".
Now, only after 3 weeks of ownership am I enjoying my phone and not polishing it like my c**k.
I got a brand new Note 4. The app showed it wasn't refurbished and no signs of it on the device either. Felt new too.

As I know there are many of us out there with defective handsets I thought I should pass this on. I originally received my nexus 4 on 11/29 (defective of course), I called the next day to order a warranty replacement and was told the process and that the estimated ship date was less than one week. This was actually stated on my receipt as well. After receiving no information by 12/7 I called to check on my exchanges status only to be told an error was made on my exchange request but they corrected it and it would ship at the latest by Tuesday, 12/11.
Soooo, I call today since still no word and I was told a specialist would research my order and update me directly within 48 hours. Now the clincher, this is what the specialist sent me:
"Hi again D____ ,
I've received a response from the specialist. Due to high demand, replacements for the Nexus 4 are being delayed in shipping out. The current estimate is that they will ship in 3-5 weeks.*I'm sincerely sorry for the inconvenience."
So, how do you like them apples?

I purchased my N4 the first day (US), and received it the week later. I had some SIM card reader issues, eventually got around to activating a new SIM to confirm my issues..still didn't work, so I called Nexus support this Monday night. They filed an RMA. The phone was shipped out Tuesday morning via 2-day air and arrived today. I am shipping my old one back tomorrow.
I hate to say it, but I think you got unlucky (I was very afraid I was going to have to wait weeks as well).
Yeah that'd really unlucky i got my RMA 3 days after I called. But at least u can hold onto the original till the replacement ships

When you do the rma, do they charge you for the second until they get the defect back? I really need to send mine in due to the charger port working maybe 50% of the time but can't have another 400$ tied up with Google that long again.

no, they will not do that. once ups gets it, google is informed.
OP if you check your nexus 4 status it'll say preorder. I got the same issue as you. Still waiting on Google to ship. I called them up asking about the the 21 days to return the defective unit if I don't receive my replacement in time. They said I'll still be charged even if they can't send it out in time. OK a bit off topic..I ordered a N4 off ebay(unused/factory sealed) and should be here tomorrow. If, heavens forbid, the phone is defective am i still covered by google?/ in that case who do i contact for a warranty exchange??!
Seller doesn't accept returns and says under the product description "if there is any problem with the phone you go deal with google directly"
I called Monday about starting an RMA, was told by the CSR (Katie) that I would receive an email about it. I thought it was strange she didn't ask me to do a survey, and she was pretty much uninterested the entire call. I gave it till today, then decided to phone back in and see if I had indeed been started with an RMA. Shocker, I had not. Morgan, who was quite helpful, started up the RMA right away. I got my email and the cart to order the RMA, etc. If Google thinks they're holding a $349 authorization charge on my card for 3-5 weeks, they're ****ing high.
Let us know if you get any updated info.

Finally i got my Nexus 7 back after 3 weeks. You don't even know how happy i was to get it back. That is until i found it that they didn't repaired it. Well they did repaired my nexus 7 dc jack but they didn't repaired my screen. I was having major screen bleeding and i specifically told them to fix my screen and dc jack. They only fixed dc jacked but I just got off the phone with Asus and now i got to RMA it again... This is very very annoying but i hope that they actually fix it this time. There go 3 more weeks. I really love this tablet but it sucks that i can't use it for a total of 6 weeks since Asus fail on their repair.

Im surprised too but their quality control on devices sucks.
Well to be fair, it sucks, but about all mobile device manufacturers have crappy warranty service. Google does advance shipping on nexus devices that's why I bought my tablet straight from them. Wasn't crazy about the extra $14 to ship it but figured if I ever had a problem it would be less hassle then dealing with Asus.

Yea Google needs to setup some kind of advanced replacement for this stuff. Never have I ever had to send a device out for repair. Just send me a refurb, I'll send you mine, fix mine, and return it to someone else. Seems it would be better that way. Customers shouldn't be bothered with whatever happens behind the curtains...
I can understand laptop and PCs as those are a little more personal because of data and parts.

This is one of the things people forget about when they say Apple charges too much money. When you have a problem, you goto the Apple store, they'll hand you a 'new' device on the spot. Its usually a refurb, but if they don't have any refurbs, you get a new one. And if they don't have any new ones, you get an upgrade. My wife's iPhone 4 had an issue with the charging port. They had zero iPhone 4's in stock at the Apple store so they gave her a brand new 4S. Not a refurb, they opened a brand new box and handed it to her.
I'm surprised Samsung hasn't started doing this even if its a 'mini store' inside of places like Best Buy or the like.

Yeah that's typically how advance shipping works. You typically require a credit card to use it, exception being a carriers warrant service, which is because they can just bill your account if they find the warranty to be void

They returned me a new nexus 7 as they said, and when i opened the box there was a nexus 7 with screen lift , and scratched screen + someone tried to open it so i have real bad scratches from the sides all sides. How nice. Paid 260 euros for a nexus 7 16 gb. For that money i could've had a 32GB 3G Nexus 7 . Well that is how my luck is .

A few weeks ago after light use, and most of that reading, I noticed an entire band of pixels lighter than the rest of the screen. Mind you, my Nexus was 3 weeks old and that was 3 weeks ago. Notified ASUS and quickly got an RMA. Sent it in, got it back, read the repair note *BATTERY BAD, REPLACED BATTERY*. Nope didn't even fix the screen, let alone touch it. It still has the same band of light pixels. I promptly emailed them back and am still waiting for a reply. I read so many mixed reviews about ASUS customer support that I dreaded sending it in. After my incident I understand why.
just received my nexus 7 after three weeks
let me tell you how happy I am to have it back, though they didn't fix one thing on my c9o. not the screen flicker nor the charging issues..nothing.
on the paper had said found nothing wrong. also they stole my charger...it was written in the report that I was going to send that in as well and wrote on the paper inside the box.
this was Texas facility
I called then where's my charger..they opened a case for me, said were going to put me on hold to speak to manager, stayed on for 15mins then they hung up on me.
yo. **** you Asus I swear

Helps to be near an Apple store for that. I had the awful luck to be at school (with no means to the nearest Apple store before my warranty ran out) when my trackpad went nuts two days before warranty's end. Now I live next to one but I'm past warranty. And as the student manager for our college helpdesk, Apple makes mail-ins absolutely awful unless you're willing to argue.
That said, done and done on their in-store support. But Apple's got the on-the-ground presence to do that sort of thing. If Google made their own retail shops, I would be a happy person indeed.
...but what would you call them? I think it's Microsoft's Experts, Apple's Geniouses, and Google's...I dunno, kNow-ers?
For anyone who is thinking about buying the Nexus 4, but is worried about all the threads you've seen citing various problems with the screen, etc.
Perfect Nexus 4's DO exist. I bought mine off of the play store about 2 weeks ago, and everything was great except one thing - there was a screen defect that took up about 1/4" of the right side of the display.
I contacted Google who made the exchange process painless.. and I received my new Nexus 4 yesterday. It is, without a doubt, 100% absolutely perfect.
No hissing from the speaker, a brilliant screen, excellent blue tooth/wifi connectivity, fast as hell, great reception/call quality, just perfect.
I didn't have any of those problems with my other Nexus 4, other than that minor screen defect. Just wanted to let everyone know they are getting much better with their QA on these, GO GET ONE NOW!
Coming from a Galaxy S3, I can honestly say the Nexus 4 is the best phone I have ever had. Hands down I would sell my S3 and buy this phone all over again. Hell I might just buy another one, at this price point it's almost silly not to.
Feel free to chime in if you have a perfect Nexus 4

Yeah I'll probably give it to my wife and sell her GS2
Received my Nexus 4 on 04/04/2013 and it is flawless as far as I can tell. None of the problems posted in threads on this site are present as of yet (knock on wood). I've had really good luck with online orders of electronics though. I know a lot of people that don't like ordering electronics on the Internet because they always RMA. Anyway, just thought I'd post for statistics.
Less on-topic than my previous paragraph, I love my Nexus 4. By far best phone I've ever had, hardware- and software-wise.
Mine's not flawless but the 'defects' are so small that they're not noticeable. My volume rocker squeaks a little when stroked from top to bottom. I know it sounds weird but that's the only way I can make the noise. It's very minute and you have to be listening for it specifically to hear it unless the room's silent. Five of my friends also have N4s and none of them have complained about them at all.
Mines perfect. Rev 11.

I didn't have to "warranty" exchange it because I will still within my initial purchase period (I think it's 15 days)
A warranty exchange is different because they can (and usually do) provide a refurbished device instead of a brand new one.
They offered me a refund, but instead I opted for an "advanced replacement". That means they send me the brand new phone but place a hold on my account for the amount of the phone ($359, they don't charge the shipping or tax) until I send the new phone back.
I received my replacement in 3 days and I am sending my original phone back today.
Hello I pre-ordered galaxy note 4 and its having issues. The phone doesnt charge properly...i have to plug it in and out couple times for the phone to recognize that it is connected to charger and "dock is connected" notification is keep coming up..so i called tmobile and since warranty is issued, they are going to send out a replacement. My comcern is that they are probably going to send a refurb without any accessories right? I heard some rare instances they send out brand new but most likely its refurb. Anyone has an experience with tmobile refurbs? Are they any good or bad?
Thank you
They probably don't have any refurbished units yet, so you may get a new one. Have got tried another charger? I've seen a couple reports of the adaptive chargers failing.
I will let you know, my replacement is due to be delivered 2nd Dec ( I ordered it earlier today from 611 ). I will check and it and post back for you. I know it sucks to get a refurbed but so long as I dont get one that was rejected by another XDA forum, then I should be good to go HAHAH

yes i have my wife got the same phone so tried her charger on my phone and my charger on her phone and its my phone that is having issues. Right fair enough. They said that as I didn't have "insurance" then it would be regular 7day ground delivery. Which will take me over my 14 day refund time frame. Shame but such is life.
I remember a couple of years ago when I was with AT&T they swapped out my GS4 at one of their authorized repair centers. The IMEI label on the back was different to the original one as it didn't have the Samsung logo on it so was definitely a refurbished unit. But worked well.
The T Mobile rep mentioned the same stuff to me as well. Saying it will be just the phone minus battery etc. But she did mention that it was coming directly from the manufacturer whoever that is in T Mobiles language maybe Assurion or Samsung?
My current build date according to the box is 11/5/14 previous to that it was 11/4/14. Made in crappy Vietnam. My perfect note 3 was made in prestigious China haha.

Rumor has it that its approx 2 months before refurbs are ready after initial launch by Samsung.
Either way, does anyone know if the refurbed Galaxy phones are proceeded by a third party vendor for and behalf of t mobile or are they done by the manufacturer Samsung?

Thanks. The t mobile tech support person mentioned that the device is coming directly from the manufacturer. I take what you say in higher value than what they say. We all know they read of a script.

Lol Yea bro..That's 99% of them, every once in a while you'll get 1 that knows a little something.
Well I can vouch for that. First rep insisted I goto store for replacement and then when she finally realized I wasn't wanting to take that route told me they had no stock LOL. The very same rep also told me to just send my Cel Fi signal booster back without a return label. Glad I didn't listen to her as the second rep needed the imei of the signal booster and created me a return label. That could have cost me $500.

Right now I'm going through issue with my first returned note 4,sent to there fort worth,TX return center and they still haven't said nothing to me about receiving it,even tho ups tracking shows signed and delivered. They had to credit my account 31.50 because I have 2 note 4 on my account right now, because returned device hasn't been dropped off my account, it's going on 2 weeks now.
So I got my phone today and the screen was defective. I have to return it and re-order a new one. Problem is now I'm outside the promotional date. T-Mobile customer service said they can make a note on my new receipt/contract, so Samsung would still honor it. I'm kind of skeptical about that, so I wanted to check in with you guys.
Do you think if I send in my original receipt/contract will it work or should I just wait till another promotion comes?
Send it in, waiting sounds like a long shot. As long as you have the receipt with the mac and imei you are good.

This happened to me when I got the s7e. I was able to get the vr anyway. Worse case scenario talk to tmoblie and they will make sure ypu get product you wanted. My mother was getting the note 7 and they didn't have the color she wanted anywhere. They told her they were getting some this week but I told them she'd be outside the promotional date. They told us not to worry that they would get the gear fit through them.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll send in the original qualified contract with the new contract with tmobile explanation and see what happens.
