Weird torrent behaviour? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have never had this issue with ttorrent on any other device. So i am curious about if this is a Note 4 thing others experience.
I have posted below a screen shot, if you will notice the torrent client is showing a dl speed of +6 MB/S, with is the higher end of my bandwidth. However if you notice the network traffic in the status bar is 600 kb/s. Assuming that is obviously the true speed. Mainly due to the client reporting my upload at a staggering +6 MB/S. Well above my bandwidth.
Anyone else experiencing simaler with the Note 4?

speedtest.net app

Was curious as to was speeds people are getting when running this app.
On zen's mytouch rom I consistently get >1200 kbps down while on the sprint rom I am getting < 850 kbps down...
On both I get about 600-700 kbps up
I don't understand because I didn't think a rom would affect data speeds.
Can people post their speeds, and if any devs have insight on why the significant speed difference, please enlighten me.
Id expect to see this in dev from a noob, but I certainly didn't expect to see this from you Looney.

thanks... brain fart on my part
it varies pretty greatly but highest was 1452 up and 765 down.
lowest was 456 down and 531 up.
I've always gotten great speed here in Atlanta. I am using Zen's rom and it seems once I switched to this rom, my speeds increased dramatically from the sprint release rom for 2.1.
2151 Down and 646 Up Highest
1751 Down and 711 Up Lowest
I'm getting constant 1400 d/l and 8 - 900 u/l on Zen's ROM

Here in Austin, I probably average around 1000 up and 600 down.
I have a question. What does everyone get on wi-fi? I ask because my wi-fi is never any faster than my 3G. I've always wondered if there is something wrong with the wi-fi on my phone, because I believe it should be much faster.
Wi-fi speed examples anybody?
On 3g in Kansas City I got 1099/730, and on wi-fi I got 3033/559.

OK, moved out of my basement, and now I got 2002/667 on 3g, 2951/551 on wi-fi. My broadband is capped at 512 up.

[Q] Best Tethering Setup for Low Latency Gaming?

I need to play World of Warcraft on my laptop using my Nexus One's T-Mobile 3G connection. What can I do to reduce lag and optimize my phone for tethering?
I'm currently running the MIUI ROM which I realize is probably not optimal. I'm tethering through USB as it is gives about 50ms lower ping than using WiFi.
In WoW I'm getting 350ms to 400ms ping. However, on speedtest.net my ping is consistently less than 100ms. Is there anything I can do to further reduce my ping in game? I'ld like to get it down below 200ms if possible. I'm quite impressed with the tethering overall, but even lower latency will be awesome...especially for PvP
tyia
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html
Try this?
Also, how much bandwidth do you have to be able to waste so much on WoW? XD
That looks interesting, I will give it a try.
haha...it's not a waste. I've so far used 2.8 GB out of Unlimited this month
I normally go well over 2GB each month...without any tethering. I would do that over Edge when I was on ATT up until last month!
Congrats, you fall into the .05% of people who are requiring the carriers to readdress their tethering/unlimited plans for the rest of us who don't play video games through a cell phone internet connection
REGARDLESS cellular packet latency is fairly high, NOWHERE NEAR what a real connection would be. So expect latency.
Playing WoW all day uses very little bandwidth. I used to tether and play and it was much smaller than I expected.
Watching one or two youtube videos is probably as much.

Not really...I use far more data downloading my RSS feeds and ROMs than I do playing WoW. And this is only temporary(visiting parents for holidays)...all my 2+ GB a month data usage in the past has been from zero tethering.
If you want to blame anything for my data usage...blame XDA
Edit: Looking at my bill, about 12 hours of gaming used about 200 MB...but that's all data usage and not just WoW. That's like 16MB an hour. Less than a youtube video an hour.

No...3G latency is not very high. Did you see the speedtest I ran and posted? Edge's latency is around 500ms which is why it feels so much slower than 3G. It's really not the bandwidth difference as much as it is the latency difference.
For an update, the low latency fix gravufo posted helped. It dropped my latency about 100-150 ms which is very impressive.
I also learned that T-Mobile will throttle my data if I go over 5GB per month. However I don't think that will be an issue since I have 2GB more to go and my cycle is almost up.

Best app for connection test.

What is the best app(preferred free) that test how fast your
Wifi/3g connection is?

On 3g, average of 4mbps download and 2.5mbps upload. Never test edge because I never feel the need to switch bands.
On wifi, I go between 18 and 23mbps down and 15 to 18mbps up.
I'll throw another one in here. FCC test from the market. It's the one I use.
A word of caution
Reg: Data Usage
App: Speed Test
Avg data usage per test: ~6MB
Audience: For people with "limited" data on.
I was puzzled to see I had close to 150 MB data consumed last noon. I was sure I wasn't downloading anything at that and all I was doing was trying out modems. Today morning I realized I was using the SpeedTest app to test the modem at that time. So I made a couple of tests using the app, using the 3G watchdog app to keep tab on data. It kinda shocked me to notice that this app was using ~6MB per test! That explains my data usage y'day. I had done more than 20 tests, to say the least, in less than an hour y'day. And then many more tests during the day and even late into night.
So now u r all warned if u r on limited plan. As for me, I am on the 2GB plan, and well, these speed tests cost me close to 300MB in just one day, y'day.

The scale changes with respect to the speed. Mine went up to 15+mbps at school.

Can anyone tell me why mine is really slow? Wifi and 3g both are really bad compared to what y'all have..
Sent from my phone
It's case by case. The speed is related to your phone +ROM+ modem + environment. That's one of the reasons why there are so many (ROM, modem, kernel) combinations out there. We all look forward to the release of AT&T's Froyo source such that developers can come up with an universal solution for all.

Using the speedtest.net app, the max speed that can be reached (stable) is around 10mbps, but it flickers up to around 13mbps (unstable). And using the FCC app, it runs the exact same test as speedtest, but it has a a higher max speed and it allows me to get an accurate result.
FCC test seems to provide more stable results on my Captivate.
Speedtest.net halts while testing the upload speed under several different ROM/modem/kernel combinations.
So I've been using Fcc test.. should you set the server to the nearest location? Is that the best?
Sent from my phone
Yea, gives you better results since you're transferring data from point A to point B and back, instead of going from point A to point J and back.

My Note 3 youtube app connection speeds are better than my other droids & PC; reason?

My Note 3 youtube app connection speeds are better than my other droids & PC; reason?
I have NEVER been able to stream HQ content from youtube consistently without running into constant buffering. Last time I checked even all computers I used buffer so bad its a waste of time to even try; so I placed the issue solely on YouTube shaping traffic. When i got my Note 3 I had noticed how high quality the youTube vids looked and I wa slike 'oh crap, I need to turn off the HD cause this is gonna just be 24/7 buffering', then I thought 'give it a second because you have already been watching a few vids with no buffering'. Needless to say I have not turn off the HD and I have not had any buffering issues.
My question is: what happened? Did YouTube magically upgrade their servers since I bought my Note 3 the other week/since I tried to use YouTube HD last? Is my Note three somehow better at managing internet traffic and has a better wifi? Is Google/youtube starting to give priority to android devices? Whats going on that I can now get streaming HD with no interruptions from youtube?
Thanks for the help!
If your using your data on your note 3 when you go on YouTube that's probably why. The speed on these phones is amazingly fast. I know cause I have issues on my computer watching YouTube videos. I have fios at home 50mb download and 50mb upload and I still get rebuffering issues. who would have ever thought my phone's data was going to be faster than my home isp.

Nope. Thanks though. Now I wonder if it could be the modem I had them repalce that didnt seem to have any issues? That or Youtube upgraded cause I can get it on all devices now. Hell im streaming 2 1080p signals from youtube at a time. thats a huge improvement over one not doing it without buffering.
Sorry to post here on this when its not android related.

Youtube constant buffering over LTE

this goes for anyone who uses the youtube app but mainly for people using it on tmobiles network.
as of late any video in 720p or above buffers every 3 to 4 seconds.
if you go into youtube then go to settings--> General--> then enable stats for nerds. find any video that displays in 1080p and while in the video bring up the regular youtube menu for where u can select the quality u will see the stats icon...while playing the video in youtube i am getting a max of 175KiB/s over LTE... but when i run various speed tests i am getting 30Mbps average.
can anyone else with youtube recreate this issue? ive tested on three different tmobile phones all on different accounts and im trying to see if tmobile is throttling or if anyone else who doesnt have tmobile can see if its a youtube issue.

But even with your read ahead you are still only managing 170Kib.... That's dirt slow. Only reason our read a heads are different is because I took that screen shot right before a buffer. We seem to be having the same issue

well if is a solid consistent slow speed then it could just be T-mo throttling your video streaming. I get similar issues on AT&T, which people on u-verse complain about as well so it must be part of att's backhaul. You can try this app it works for me when ATT gets slow running through this VPN fixes it for whatever reason and its 100% free with no email signups or anything.

There's likely nothing you say that'll change anything regardless of if it's actually a network limitation or them throttling you. If it was throttling then it's probably hidden somewhere in the service agreement but since people in other area's are saying their's is fine then there's probably a bad hop somewhere in the connection between you and youtube.
Here in Germany there are also supsicions that Telekom/T-Mobile are sometimes blocking Youtube....don't know why and don't know how, but I have read it and had the problem myself some time as well.

I'm also in Brooklyn too, and the thing is this: we do get really good speeds out here, but the second you step in Manhattan, the speed drops tremendously. I'm averaging 5mb in Manhattan where I work. Meanwhile in Brooklyn, I'm averaging about 25-35mb. It's crazy how I get throttled in different areas.
