Twrp backups where? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently running Android L 5.0.1 stock with the latest twrp.
Can anyone tell me where the backups are stored?
On previous roms, twrp would backup on the internal sdcard, but it is not placing them there. I have one or two backups to delete as they hog quite a bit of space.
Thanks.

backups don't move ... the sdcard was not readable without the fix i posted for him

backups are stored in the same folder:
/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/YOUR_SERIAL_NO/DATE_OF_BACKUP
or if you prefer:
/sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/YOUR_SERIAL_NO/DATE_OF_BACKUP
but to be able to see it (using GPE 5.0.1) you must reset the security context of that path and it sub-folders using the command posted above by clsA.

Problems with storage on the Htc one

Hi all, i flashed the new rayglobe rom succesfully, but i think there is a problem with the multi user part of android 4.2.2. This is because i now have an sdcard0 and an emulated0 which both have the exact same files in? Any help would be appreciated

If you mean storage/emulated/0/ that It's correct.
/storage/sdcard0/ internal sd storage path for compatibility with 4.1 apps.
/storage/emulated/0 4.2 internal sd storage path.

Both of these paths are symlinks, they don't "eat" your disk space, and you don't need get rid of it.
Under root (or in recovery file manager) check /data/media , all your files shall be in data/media/0, if any files are duplicated just in data/media,
that it not correctly... delete them.

It actually was eating my space, i had duplicate of everything, booting into recovery and doing a data wipe fixed this.
I've got the same problem after flashing cyanogen mod 10.1
Sent from my One using xda premium
Have you tried backing up your files and wiping the data partition?, I did this and it fixed this for me, also make sure your recovery is at the latest version.

Can someone help me out with this? What's the EASIEST way to fix this problem on my GF's phone?
I just want to copy over all her data onto a PC, Titanium Backup everything (apps, settings and all) and just fix this mounting issue. She definitely has duplicated around everywhere, but it's hard to understand what is a duplicated or not.
I have her running a CWM recovery.

[Q] HTC One's internal storage question

Excuse me if the question is dumb. My last droid was the Evo. Trying to pick everything up again.
I know when you lock/unlock the bootloader, the phone will be wiped, but will it wipe when you flash a 3rd party rom?
Does it always get wiped? I know bootloader and RUU will clean it, but what about flashing roms?
Can the internal storage be treated as an SD card so my contents dont get wiped?
also, is this what i read about the virtual SD that started in honeycomb? is that located in /media?
It's /data/media or /data/media/0 on 4.2.2 and the recoveries understand it, so it doesn't have to be wiped.
Always take a backup though.

So anything prior to 4.2.2 will still wipe the phone?

Hi, flashing ROMs doesn't wipe your internal storage, and neither your apps.
(on any base 4.1.2 / 4.2.2)

[Q] Strange Behaviour of my Internal Storage

Hi There!
I have some Questions about my internal Storage after the Update to 4.2.2:
First, i had Renovate 2 installed. Then, the update to 4.2.2 was released by HTC, so i installed ARHD 10. I didn't backup my sdcard, which was a big mistake, because, after the Installation, I lost all my data (or just these Files which were not stored in /sdcard/0). I Used this ROM for about 1 Month. And now, i see, that i just have 952 MB free space. If i Open DiskUsage, 18GB of my Internal Storage is used by "System Data". (I Know, there are thousend of existing Threads about that. And i know how to fix this) Yesterday, i've Installed Viper One and restored the TWRP-Backup in Titanium Backup. There my backups, which I made before ARHD 10, were listed. I searched my Phone (Root) for this Backup, but I couldn't find it.
So, where is this Backup? and maby the other Files which i thought were
Thank You!
p.s. sorry for the bad English
since it's Android 4.2.2, backup is stored in data/media/clockworkmod or TWRP. It depends on recovery you got ATM.
OR!
On TWRP backup is stored in virtual sd card under TWRP catalog

[Q] Undeletable files and invincible CWM backups

Hello friends of XDA,
First, Merry Christmas to all of you!
I have problems with my internal sd card and with cwm after updating from Insertcoin 4.4.2 Sense to 5.0.1 GPE from Santod. Files which I've used for the update can not be deleted. I can delete them with a file manager or with my laptop but they keep coming back. Files not bigger than 0 kb.
Also, i can't find backups made with cwm. They are however stored, as I can see that after backupping my sd card is smaller at free space. I can make them, and I can restore them, but I can't find them. I looked everywhere.
Any clues?
Thanks in advance

I already tried that. Unfortunately it does not do the trick. No visible backups, only in CWM itself. Also still the same files that can't be deleted.

I had similar issue twice first time I had to flash RUU, and second time only factory reset from bootloader fixed it.

Making an exact copy

Hey everyone.
So a few days ago I unfortunately dropped my nexus 6, destroying the screen. It's fully blacked out with no sense of touch. That's what I get for not using a case right. Anyway, I am looking to order a new one very soon and I would like to be able to pick up exactly where I have left off. Because the phone is in completely working condition besides the screen (Proven by using airdroid, android control and adb, as well as my lightflow and everything acting normally) I was wondering what I need to do to be able to put everything onto my new phone. What I think I need to do is run a TWRP backup of system, data, and boot by using the command line, as seen here. After that, I believe I need to use the adb pull command. Once that is all done, can I simply put TWRP onto my new devices, restore the backup, use adb push to replace the contents of my /sdcard partition and boot up as if it were the old device? I think I have it figured out here but, I wanted to run it by the smart people of xda. A couple of notes, although I assume it is irrelevant, are that I am running the PureNexus Project ROM, Elementalx on 6.0.1 unlocked.
Thanks,
TriguyRN

You would be best advised not to do that. You could mess up your device alot to the point of bricking it. If you back up anything only back up the data partition as that is where your apps are.

agreed you can probably get away with a /data restore after reinstalling your rom but transplanting /system or boot partitions could easily go south. Best to reinstall purenexus with the zip.

So if I understand this correctly, /data contains my appdata and that apps themselves, while /sdcard contains some extra documents etc. correct? Assuming yes, then I should back/restore up the data partition in TWRP and selectively movie around some folders from my /sdcard backup to my new device. Thank you for the advice and moving my thread.

if you backup /data you'll have all your apps and internal storage files. /sdcard is just a shortcut pointing to /data/media/0 which is where your documents and whatnot are actually stored.

This is incorrect.
A TWRP backup of /data *does NOT* backup your internal storage. That's the reason that there's a different option.
Same way that if you wipe /data it doesn't erase your sdcard (internal storage, we don't have sdcards).
You are correct though, /data/media/0 is *technically* where the internal storage is located. However a /data backup will not back this up as it traditionally skips the /data/media directory completely to prevent crazy issues on devices without a true sdcard.
Think about it.
You have 32gb of device storage. Let's say you have a ton of music, movies, documents and such on your internal storage/sdcard totaling 15-20gb. Even with a full /system, /data, /boot backup... it averages about 3-5gb. There's no way that it's getting that level of compression and backing up the 15-20 gb of stored files you have.
On top of that, it would have to include the backed up backup in the backup since it was also on internal storage, casuing a cycle that would simply fill up the device before failing due to a lack of free space.
Realistically, the only way to backup the internal storage is by using a usb-otg device as the target. Or by manally copying everything from there off to a computer.
