[Q] XT1063 stock recovery img? - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have a stock image for the XT1063 recovery? The SBF website is down. Thanks.

You can use any stock recovery img from any variant of the moto g 2014. Just download any stock firmware and extract the recovery IMG and flash with fast boot

Here you go:
recovery.img - 10.0 MB
It is the recovery.img file from "RETUGLB_XT1063_4.4.4_KXB21.85-17_cid9_CFC.xml"

I fixed it already. So by any chance do you know how to fix the fingerprint error when upgrading to Lollipop XT1063 file? I'm getting a fingerprint error.

Download the entire SBF for your carrier/version here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
Unzip it. You will need to have the android SDK and "mfastboot" binary. Place recovery.img in the same folder as mfastboot, then:
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Now you should have stock recovery back.
Good Luck

I gave you the exact instructions in POST # 2:
"Download the entire SBF for your carrier/version here:

You will extract the zip file (the one I linked for ASIA RETAIL), but you only need the one file: recovery.img

Moto sure made havok with our recoveries, they could have made them with all the same md5 but they are unique. I bet any one would function but not for the reason we need to use each original one for.
See... I had unlocked bootloader n installed twrp...I wanted to return back to stock recovery so I Googled it n got a link for stock recovery. But when I flashed it n tried to boot into recovery.. It did not happen... can u suggest what should I do??

Don't know. You can use Rashr tools or Flashify too.
Did you flash the one for your phone? It may be a Different one.
I downloaded stock recovery n followed the instructions from addictive tips website...[I'm not able to post outside links...]

It's the boot.img file in whatever SBF you are running. You MUST use the boot.img from the exact same SBF file (for YOUR version/variant) that you are currently on.
Flash it using fastboot: fastboot flash boot boot.img

If I'm on krypton 4.4.4 ROM on a xt1053 T-Mobile variant can I use the 4.4.3 T-Mobile sbf boot.IMG or the Verizon 4.4.4 sbf boot.IMG?

Maybe....but why would you do that?
One way to find out -- try it. If it doesn't work or causes issues, flash the boot.img from krypton back on.
i think i made a mistake...
i thought i had the 4.4.4 stock firmware on my sd, so i've flashed the boot.img.. but after that, my moto stopped working properly! it completly changed the color scheme, the boot anymation is broken and it keep rebooting after few seconds/minutes.
So i realized i've flashed the 4.4.2 boot.img!!
i temporarly solved this problem flashing a custom rom (using slimkat right now) but i really want to go back to stock!
How should i proceed?!
i have a german moto x xt1052
thanks a lot!!!

You shouldn't have flashed that custom rom. Now you have to wait for the full sbf to be leaked which could take weeks or months. By flashing the custom rom, you overwrote /system.
If you didn't do that, you could have simply flashed the boot.img from the 4.4.4 OTA file.
Your only other option is to find someone with the same variant as you have on 4.4.4 and ask them to do a twrp backup of just system and boot. Then flash that backup.
Remember: you can't downgrade without great risk of bricking - either immediately or in the future.
Thanks a lot..i hope to find someone with 4.4.4 german moto x!

You should be able to boot to twrp, and flash the backup using restore button. Make sure you erase userdata afterwards.
Before you start, you need to copy the backup to your internal storage in the twrp backup folder, of course.
Don't erase userdata until after you have restored the backup otherwise you will erase the backup! Everything on the internal memory will be erased, so save anything important such as pictures to your PC first.
could you share boot.img with me please ?
My phone wont boot anymore

Stock 1053 4.4.4 rom

I am asking if anyone has a flashable zip of the 4.4.4 rom, I cant seem to update or sideload it even with a stock recovery, factory resets, dont work and fastboot flashing doesnt work either,
So if anyone has a flashable zip I can use with the twrp that would be greatly appreciated
Why not flash the img files manually?
I haven't seen the SBF of 4.4.4 for the XT1053 posted anywhere yet. Not even on Moto's site for the Developer Edition recovery images.

[Q] Installing OTA lollipop after unlocking bootloader?

Hi, I have a Moto G 2nd Gen XT1064 running 4.4.4 KK (21.11.23). I rooted, unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP. I'm really confused about how I go about getting the 5.0.2 OTA update my phone says is available. I tried downloading it 3 times and after I clicked to install it the phone powers off and then puts me in a bootloop while still on KK. I wonder why that is? So then I install the backup I made in TWRP and it gets me out of the bootloop.
Anyway, is it still possible to use the phones built-in OTA update service somehow or do I need to flash an OTA update using recovery? I read through maybe a dozen threads here but I couldn't figure it out(and I always thought I was a tech savvy guy ) If anybody can help me in any way I'd be extremely grateful!
TWRP is the problem, not the unlocked bootloader. You need to use stock recovery to install an OTA, not a custom recovery
Download your firmware version, extract the recovery.img and install using fastboot

The same way you flashed TWRP.
Extract the .zip and put the recovery.img wherever you need it to do this:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Thank you so much ThisIsJason, I flashed the recovery.img for my firmware I downloaded off motofirmware.com then I let my phone download the OTA and when I clicked to install this time it worked. Thank you so much cuz I was really frustrated and I just couldn't for the life of me figure out what I needed to do so your suggestion is very much appreciated.
Tharmor, this is what I did:
I checked my phone to see what firmware I had, look in the settings menu, then in "about phone" and I think it'll list your firmware there. Then go to the website ThisIsJason mentioned, and download your phones firmware (mine was 21.85.23 for the XT1064 model). Then what I did was I unzipped the recovery.img file into my fastboot folder, then I put my phone in recovery mode and plugged in the usb cable and started the fastboot program. Then I copy and pasted
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Click to collapse
into the program, hit Enter and it flashed the recovery.img to my phone. Then I unplugged the usb and booted the phone back up normally, I went into settings menu, then "about phone" and then I think at the top of the next menu clicked an option about software updates. So I let the phone download the update and then clicked to install it and viola, it worked a charm.
