You installed xdabbeb's bootstack probably, it switches download mode to fastboot.
Grab the restore download mode download here and flash it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715408

prob gonna mess with getting a cust rom but dont want it to be carrier specific if possible.
i dont have verizon service and would like to be able to freely switch between carries in my area without having alot of carrier specific settings or apps.
anyone recommend what i should do?

First of all you need to install and setup fastboot, use Google to find a guide for that, it isn't that hard so you should be fine. When fastboot is working properly make sure to turn your device off, then hold the volume down button while plugging in the usb cable into your phone. A blue light should light up at your earpiece, your phone is in fastboot mode right now, which means you can flash a kernel.
Now open up a CMD window/terminal and go to the folder where the fastboot file is located. Download the kernel you want to flash and place it in the same folder, then run the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot <NAMEOFTHEKERNEL>.img
Your computer should now flash the kernel to your device, when it's done you can unplug the usb cable and try to get into recovery again.
I hope this helps!

i've been in same situation
do this
start phone normal (you'll be in fastboot mode)
use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477595
you already used this , but now go to download page and download all of this
http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2/VS980/Stock_Firmware/11A_Partitions
and use this command for all
fastboot flash laf laf.img
in case of other files will be , for sample "fastboot flash boot boot.bin" or fastboot flash aboot aboot.img
now you'll have working download mode
after that use 11_a tot method
or you can download 12B partitions , it doesn't really matters (i think)
Still can find the solution

Hello guys,
i bricked my vs980 and now i need help.
Here is the story.
I was on 4.4.2 ROM. i installed towelroot and rooted phone. Then i downloaded autorec for vs980 to install twrp. After reboot all i can see on phone are colorful lines. Phone wont boot to OS (after few seconds it auto reboots). I have no download mode or fastboot mode. ALL i have is twrp installed, but i cant see anything on screen (anythinkg usefull - only those multi-colored lines). In twrp i can enter sideload mode.
When i enter sideload mode i see i adb my phone and it says im in sideload mode. So using adb i can install something (at least i think so).
Is it possible to unbrick my phone or is it totally lost?
I think i would need to somehow install original partitions on it using adb sideload.
I dont know how. i tried installing some roms, no success. Still phone wont boot to OS. I propably messed something with partitions when i was trying to unbrick it.
I tried installing kernel KK_Kernel_VS980_jdi, it doesnt help.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
// edit
Restoring download mode would be good. I would flash kdz then. But no idea how to do it having adb sideload only
//edit 2
I managed using sideload to flash 26a bootskatck and xdabbeb 2.3.0 rom. Then i flashed KK_Kernel_VS980_jdi which should repair those white lines. Now in recovery i still have all those lines (cant see anything on screen), but phone boots to OS. In OS, there are some lines but i can see everything on the screen (KK_Kernel_VS980_jdi helped). I guess now i need to restore download mode. But how?
//edit 3
I restored dl mode using zip from xdabbeb 2.3.0 thread and managed to install 24a using kdz method. It partiallly repaired phone - there are some lines, but according to info found on net they will disappear after some time (24h approx).
Rafal.
so i tried to root my phone and install a custom recovery the phone was working good until i rebooted and ended up with this error
Secure boot error
cause :boot certification verify
then it goes to this screen (see image)
i can press up to go to download mode
and the pc is reading it as a serial port but the LG flash tool 2014 is not flashing it keeps failing to connect to the server or failing outright with the option to EXIT
i did download the VS980 kdz file
so im not sure how to move from here or if the phone can be recovered at all
any advice would be appreciated thanks
It your getting "network error" on the kdz method that's normal.. If you move the window you'll see that it's actually flashing.
I'll help you out in my guide you posted in

Well bro I was stuck with the same issue..
This happens to me when i flashed a wrong twrp recovery for lg g2 d801 and it was stuck in critical error i was also unable to access download mode ..
But my Good luck was that i recovered it by doing silly thing ?
So i do following things. But make sure u know the corrert version of your lg g2 to flash kdz file with lg flash tool and also must have lg drivers intalled.
Steps to perform.
1. While in critical error screen you have an option to press volume up button to boot into download mode( although it will not boot to download mode) but still press volume up button so your Pc can detect your phone.
2. Now flash a kdz file of your lg g2 with flash tool. ( you can google for it to download flash file for your lg g2 and how to flash it with lg flass tool.)
3. When you will try to flash it will fail..
4. Now power off your phone by pressing power button.
5. Now boot to download mode and flash the correct kdz with lg flash tool and u r good to go..
To acess download mode power off your phone immediately press volume up button and while keep pressing it and plug in usb cable and you will be in download mode

It happened to me several times. You should be able to boot into system though. If you kept a backup of your stock recovery, you can restore it and resolve this issue immediately.
Hellou. So I wiped all phone partitions them I try to install some roms but I get flash error. So I try to flash other version of twrp from official site. When I flash it I rebooted my phone back to recovery and I get error. So now my phone without any rom and recovery. So i tried to flash original firmware with lg flash tool 2014 but that program always show window to retry and replug phone back to pc. All phone drivers and usb works great. So how can I access fastboot and try to flash recovery image via fastboot. I only can access download mode on my phone....
