How does data on Nexus 6 compare to the old Motor X?
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but if you're inquiring about mobile data, it's simply fantastic.

Thanks what I'm looking for is how is it in real life. Does it hold on to 4G compared to other phones. I want to buy one as soon as I can get my hands on one I'm on Version I have missed Google Play and Motorola I think they only sold about 10 phones lol. I'm in a tuff signal area if the radios are not good the phone is useless to me. Thanks.
Again, IRL it's really fast. I get LTE coverage just about everywhere, but when I'm on HSPA it responds just as quick. I stream a lot of music with Google Play since it doesn't count against my data with T-Mo, and I have it set for highest quality on mobile network, and songs play back to back with no buffering. Browsing the web is just as seamless in my experiences so far.

Thanks maybe I'll be able to snag one on Google or Moto tomorrow Wed is supposed the magic day.
I've been running on Verizon for about 3 weeks now, with my old phone (RAZR maxx HD) I was always dropping to 3g at work, since switching I think it has only dropped to 3g once at work.

Thanks that's what I'm looking for are you holding on to 4G any better?
Yes it is very good at holding 4g for me and I don't get the battery drain I used to get at work.

Your probably getting a better signal that's why your battery was better. I can get stuck here in a bad 3G area and it will suck the battery right out the phone always searching for signal even with my Droid Maxx whose radios are pretty darn good.

Cell standby.
W
T
F?
On my OG Droid, The largest battery consumer was almost invariably Display, followed by Browser. On my wife's Galaxy Tab, same deal. On the Streak 7, Cell standby is almost always at the top of the list; usually by quite a wide margin.
Why is this? It doesn't seem to matter if I leave it on WCDMA only or WCDMA/GSM; it always sucks. Is there a reason for this? Did Dell mess up on the hardware? Does HSPA+ really take that much battery (and, if so, why the same problem when setting it to EDGE only)?
There seem to be a lot of posts on this in the G2X forum, as well, so I'll go troll there for a bit. Any input or discussion on this would be nice, since it would be nice to fix the issue.
I'm not finding any answers, but there is one glimmer of hope: people reporting 45%+ battery drain coming from Cell Standby on the G2X with FroYo say it's gone down to about 25% with Gingerbread. Maybe an OS update will fix the issue?
I'm also thinking this has to do with 4G. I get the issue regardless of the cell antenna I use, so I think there's something about the 4G antenna that simply kills battery, whether or not it's used. Don't know, just an impression.
Anyone having the Cell Standby issue on HoneyStreak? My battery was so poor on HoneyStreak I could almost watch the numbers go down in real time, so I didn't do much testing with it (the Streak 7's my main device, so I have to have a daily driver ROM with all or most features working).
I have the same issue. Cell standby is usually around 71%, and my streak is wifi only? I don't get it.

Your problem is fixable. Search around this forum and you'll find a few ways to disable cell standby on the wifi only model.
Well if your talking about the build.prop fix, it didn't work for me. I have read three threads in their entirety including the honeycomb thread, streakdroid thread and one of the threads in the general section with the appropriate name that escapes me now. None of which solved my problem. Not to say they don't work, I've just had no luck with them.

OK got rid of it finally, keep in mind this is on the WiFi version, not helpful for the phone versions.
Used GingerBreak to root (V2.2.2 Build 15799) (used this because it has an unroot option, which may come in handy if GB or HC comes out.)
User Super Manager to rename the following files...
/system/app/Phone.apk
/system/app/TelephonyProvider.apk
Rebooted and Cell StandBy is GONE!!
I am getting 1.3 on speed tests, does the Bionic have a 4G indicator? All I see is 3G in the top bar.
The card is in correctly, it is activated, I can make calls, browse the web, but no 4G and I am in a RED coverage area. Other phones get 4G here...
any ideas? Something I forgot to do?
Yes it should say 4g. Go to wireless settings and mobile network and force it to 3g and then back to auto and see if that helps.
i am in a full 4g area (not extended coverage area), the best speed i have seen on 4g using the speedtest.net app is 1500 kbs, more typically it is around 1000 kbs. 3g tops out at about 400 kbs, so at least 4g is a little faster :-(
Thats really odd, my Bionic is getting better speeds then my Charge did by a little bit. Try turning off the phone and pulling the battery. If that does not help try a factory reset and let it re activate.

Just spent 30 minutes with technical support, they said it should be working, they suggested I go to another area with 4G coverage and try it.
I will be doing that later.
They said if I still get no 4G when others do, it's my phone and I'll need to return it.
I will update this thread in case anyone has the same issue.
Troubleshooting was:
Power Down Phone
Take Out battery
Remove Sim
Wait a minute
Put it all back together
Then same thing while being reactivated by tech.

wow, 4g is absolutely amazing (20 Mbs download)...about one mile from my house, apparently i live in a HOLE even though Verizon's 4g coverage map says otherwise
gormly - have you tried connecting to 4g from different locations? might be worth a shot if you haven't

Ouch. You should get them to send you a micro sell for your house lol.
I recently got my Atrix HD, upgrading from a Motorola Milestone. I decided to go to at&t and get a micro SIM card, keep in mind I have an unlimited data plan that I've had in 2008 for a non-smartphone which worked perfectly on my Milestone. I get signal and it even says "4G", but there's no connection. Is there any way to get it? I can't live off WiFi everywhere. Can anyone help?

Looks like you need to enable data.

I was in a similar situation to you. I had to update my dataplan to an LTE plan with AT&T before data worked. I was able to retain unlimited as well.
The plan is called "Data Unlimited for LTE Personal Add-On"

This. You won't get data until you switch to the LTE version. You should be able to keep your unlimited pretty easily.

The two posts above are correct. I'd go in store to do it though. Don't want to risk losing unlimited. LTE is blazing fast and even though I'm throttled at the moment my speeds are similar to what I was getting pre-LTE.

I actually choose not to use LTE. I get better coverage on HSDPA/HSPAP as it is and the only thing I can't do is enable videos to be played in HD via YouTube. That's what my TV and wifi are for lol.

At first I couldn't figure it out why I never got 4g signal since I started using Atrix HD. After I changed APN from ATT WAP to ATT LTE, finally I got 4g signal though it's weak.
My contact is up in December so I am considering switching to pre-paid. Net 10's BYOS program is $45 a month on auto payment for unlimited everything with non-LTE 4G data speeds. But now that I've had a taste of LTE I don't want to give it up! So the only option I can find is AT&T's Go Phone unlimited with 2gb's of LTE for $60. That is still a savings of $40 a month for me with 1gb less data than I have now.
Does anybody know of a better deal out there? Or have any reasons why I shouldn't switch to pre-paid?

I use AIO wireless. AT&T owns the company. It's a flat $55 for unlimited everything. The catch is that it is only 2gb worth of LTE and then they throttle you down to 3G after that, which is still better than Straight Talk or Net 10 which throttles you to edge speeds, which to me is unusable. They also have a $70 a month plan with 7gb of LTE. I don't pay the extra $15 because I don't spend enough time in LTE areas to justify it.

I was looking over Aio's site and in their FAQ's there is multiple statements claiming "speeds up to 8mbs". I attached a screen shot. Is this true to date? I am currently getting 20-50mbs in my area on AT&T'S LTE. Which I am assuming will be the same with "Go Phone".

Where I spend 90% of my time is in 3G(my home) and 4G(work) so I can't vouch for the LTE speeds but I do know that I usually get around 1.5mbs on 3G and 3-4mbs on 4G, both of which are enough for me to be able to stream music and video. That holds true to the speeds they report on their website so I imagine it would be accurate for the LTE as well. I've never messed with the Go phone route so I don't know about their speeds but if I had to guess, I think your assumption would be correct. But I routinely exceed the the allotted 2gb, which is why I left Straight Talk in the first place.

I have a Nexus 6 on Google Project Fi. At home, my phone switches between LTE and eHRPD when on Sprint. This happens about every 20 seconds. Project Fi support thought I had corrupted software and wanted me to do a factory reset. I will monitor your thread to see if any of the suggestions posted for your problem would help mine. Good luck.
And I want to add its not the service because my girlfriend has a cheap metro PCs a phone and the signal is always strong

I updated my N6 from MOB30W to MOB31E and my signal strength and service continuity is much improved. The radio baseband did not change so there must be a software update or refresh that has helped my situation.
I'm using metro PCs got the unlimited everything the LTE is surprisingly fast.

Before I switched to Verizon I had my Nexus 6 on MetroPCS, and WiFi calling worked for incoming/outgoing calls and SMS but not MMS. You need to contact Metro to get your E911 address updated if WiFi calling isn't working for you. Didn't have B12 near me though.
