[Q] Stock Captivate voltage

Hello,
I'm curious as to the stock voltage of the captivate's CPU at 1Ghz. I've done some searching, and can't find it anywhere (maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places)
Because my 24/7 setup is:
Cyanogenmod 7
Launcher7
Glitch v13.1 kernel
1.4Ghz @ 1.325v
1.3Ghz @ 1.275v
1.2Ghz @ 1.25
1Ghz @ 1.2v
stock down the board from here
I/O scheduler: noop
Conservative governor
I'm just curious as to how much damage I'm doing to the chip, I'm not sure if 1.275v is the stock 1Ghz, just came here to check.

(With the phone at 1.4 and running cyanogenmod, it absolutely screams, scores >2700 points in quadrant. It's no sgs2, but it holds its own)

I remember reading somewhere that 1300mv was the max safe voltage.

I heard from someone else that told me where he heard it. I don't know where you might be able to find official documentation on it. You could always email Samsung.

Technically anything past 1275mV and you are shortening the life expectancy. Don't really need to know much more than that. Simple rule about OC any device. More voltage and/or heat the more you kill the life of it. Since no one knows "that" number per device it comes down to how much you are willing to gamble on it.

This is true. Electromigration would take years on the 40 (or 45, I forget) nanometer chip, especially if it does not maintain that clock constantly. And temperature remains at hand because it only peaks at 1.4 in short bursts.

new quadrant scores on old stones and droids

I haven't been using my stone for a while now, but upon running latest Quadrant I was kind of surprised by the low CPU score of only 348. I clearly remember getting more on this benchmark.
Can anyone post some screenshots of their stones (or droids) and the ROM they are using?

I'm also using CM7.2.2 with 2nd boot and 512MB swap partition

Yeah swap is great. You can even run more demanding games since this old PowerVR can still put some decent performance. I tried NOVA1, PES 2012, Dead Space and Temple Run. They all run great compared to my Xperia mini pro. The only difference is the occasional lag from swapping, but I think class 10 card will improve on this. Will try later.
I ran the Antutu benchmark and I got very low FPU score while the CPU score is normal. I thought maybe its some glitch with the latest CM7 so I flashed 4 older version, but no improvement. So far I tried 7.2.2, 7.2.1, 7.2.0 and 7-20012007. Its all the same. Its not only the score that worries me its also the choppines when scrolling through home screens, when entering drawer etc. Something is wrong. I will try stock rom later and I will try to change the OR maybe it has something to do with it.

That FPU score is probably normal. I get the same (159-162) on both CM7 and CM10. On CM10 2D rendering gets low scores - about 280 while on CM7 it is over 400. Database score seems low. On CeBits results CPU is low, I've been getting over 1300 (on quadrant) on both CM7 and CM10 (stock (kabaldan's stock) overclock values).

Done and done. I flashed vulnerable CFT with RSD Lite, formated the SD card, reinstalled OR3.3 and flashed the new CM7.2 with swap support. Its fine now. I don't know why it didn't fix itself with reflashing CM7 roms, but it didn't. Maybe it was the old OR that was causing problems I don't know.

[Q] Horrible Benchmark Score

Stock rom my note 4 scored 25417 in antutu. Thought wtf and tried testing again with the custom Skyfall rom, almost the exact same results.
Is my note 4 messed up? Should I do a device exchange?
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Are you letting your phone cool down before benching? Putting it in the freezer? (Real questions) I personally won't return a phone because of low benchmark that means nothing in the real world other than to show off. P.S.my first bench was in the 30ks

Heres the thing . You shouldnt rely on that benchmark score at all especially on custom ROMs . I have had Roms that performed amazing in everyway and tested poorly on benchmark . There are a lot of factors that decide your score and in some ways scores can be cheated . Others on XDA can explain better than I can but you need to try other ROMS and also try when your phone isnt hot as He$$

Also did you run benchmarks when you are on Stock only ? To compare?

Mines is 46512. Stock Rom, Rooted.
Maybe it's a running app that causing the low score.
Do you notice any lag? Gaming lag?

Mine was low too until I turned off power saving mode

I just tested mine while downloading a file in the background and scored 43K. Maybe you have something going on in the background that's a CPU hog. I'm on Stock but rooted.

CPU freq problem

Hello everyone,
I am running the latest stable firmware (10.2.24.0) and have noticed a weird behaviour regarding this device's minimum CPU frequency.
After starting up the device fresh, the minimum CPU States available are 576MHz for the small cores and 710 MHz for the big cores.(Screenshot)
After a day or two of use, the minimum CPU freq changes to 1036 MHz for the small cores and 1056 MHz for the big cores resulting to increased battery consumption. I cannot find what triggers this behaviour and the only way to make lower freqs available again is to reboot the device....
I believe there is something wrong with the device kernel, possibly something regarding the way the governor works.
I suggest we make some poll to see how many of you face this problem and maybe we can address it to Xiaomi.
I use cpu-z for accessing the CPU states. Can you please check and give me a feedback of the minimum CPU frequency you witness;

There are widespread complaints about the poor battery life and high idle drain on the MI 9. It's probably caused by the Snapdragon 855 since it's a new CPU but Qualcomm makes the firmware for their chips so a fix likely needs to come from them. Most people think the problems are with network searching which would indicate that there's a problem with the modem that hopefully can be fixed in a firmware update. You're the first person I know of that has suggested an issue with how the CPU cores are utilized. I think there are a couple of custom kernels in the dev thread if you think that's the problem.

I have also the same firmware and I can confirm the same problem. A reboot fixes the problem, which appears without apparent reason.

Is there a post on Xiaomi relevant forum on this? This problem is very common but no one notices I guess

On 10.2.14.0 Global same issue after reboot cpu 0-3 @ 576mhz and cpu 4-6 @710mhz and cpu [email protected]
otherwise idle 0-3 @1036 and [email protected]

This is a long standing issue and xiaomi is known to stray away from fixing such issues. I wouldn't expect them to fix it voluntarily. If we're lucky, android 10+miui 11 will be free of this by virtue of rewritten code because they won't fix it just because 20 people are complaining. The impact to standby consumption is next to 0(at least as I analyzed on mine) so It's more of an OCD thing than anything else.

General Antutu results - very low?

So basically I did 2 tests on my phone.
1. With high performance enabled (decreases battery life)
2. With high performance disabled.
Before each test phone was cooled down to room temp.

In both cases the results seem...low considering S888 CPU.
And by default the high performance mode is disabled...cause it eats battery like crazy
What are your results?

I see u have much lower temps than I had...do u use the case included or any other case?
In the meantime could u share the screen from CPU temp/clock monitoring on idle? On the main screen you have this little horizontal button with temps and details...just click.details, go to CPU tab and take a screenshot of all 8 cores charts.

Lol these scores are so pointless like SOT discussions. You won't notice the difference between two phones with different scores no matter how large the difference.....

What do you mean by gap?

A significant difference between your benchmark Antutu and my results. But dont be worried. It's the same phone. take care of the heat.
