I think whether your Nexus is flawless or not depends on whether you're noticing the faults. If the faults aren't noticeable to you then that's as good as them not being there but I believe they are still there.
I'm on my 5th Nexus and it has 9 hot pixels. They're tiny, so you wouldn't notice them if you weren't keen-eyed but they're there. Most people probably would not notice them. That's 3 out of 5 so far with pixel problems.
All units I've had so far have had a problem on the left side of the device. Either the back cover doesn't sit quite right in the middle left area, or the screen is lifting. I don't think it's possible to have neither of these issues because of the way the thing is built. Have a real good look down the left side, is the rim slightly warped inwards anywhere? Is the back cover sitting with a tiny gap between it and the rim anywhere? Does the back cover stick out by a hair's width from the rim anywhere? Is the screen lifting ever so slightly anywhere? I bet at least one of these is true. Again, you may not notice minor screen lift or the back cover sitting with a slight gap but the fault is still there. It's just designed badly and if you don't have a screen lift issue, I'm sure you will eventually.
Every unit I've owned has had backlight bleed. Some obvious, some less so.
I think LCD problems such as backlight bleed and hot or dead pixels are widespread. I think the screen lift/left side design problem involves every single unit.
These are just faults that are minor and to be honest, may not bother or even be visible to most users. But they do mean the level of QC is far far lower than most other manufacturers. People make the argument that the Nexus is cheap, so "what do you expect?", but this is beside the point.
I will never buy another Asus product, ever.
Shame you're so unlucky. Honestly, I'm mind-numbingly picky about my gear but my GN7 has none of the faults you list.
The fact is, the overwhelming majority of happy users will not post one single review stating as such. People with problems complain. Only complaints get heard.
Over the years I've had loads of Asus tech; every last thing is/was top notch.
I do hope you have better luck with future purchases

Completely happy here as well, no problems.
There seems to be too many people wanting absolute perfection out of a mass produced cheap as chips device, and they do all they can to find the tiniest of flaws.
Dead pixels are obvious, so you would notice them immediately and quite entitled to take it back, however I'm wondering if what the OP is seeing are tiny tiny flaws in the filters which are only visible when viewing a black screen on maximum brightness in the dark. All LCDs will show something like this if you look hard enough. You couldn't use it like this without burning your eyes out so in everyday use, it simply isn't noticable and isn't a flaw, it is just a limitation of the technology. Same goes for back light bleed, all LCD panels have it to some extend, and looking for it in the dark at maximum brightness is sure to find it, but again would you use the tablet at such settings.
News alert: We do not have perfect display technologies yet, they all have flaws or cons, especially if you look for them. I paid £1500 for a 15" LCD panel not that long ago, that had more flaws anyone is complaining about now but had advantages over and above CRT at the time you just accepted them as part of the technology and enjoy the advantages.
I read all the same complaints about my HTC One X and almost didn't buy it, but so glad I did and zero problems. I came in here and read about all the issues with the Nexus 7 and almost didn't buy it, but remembered reading all the doom and gloom and about the One X, so bought it and absolutely love it.
Yes devices will have real faults or problems, and complain and get it exchanged by all means, I would, but around XDA they seem to go further than broken devices into complaints about microns of differences. Who cares about a hairs width if the device is working perfectly! Every forum in XDA is the same.
Regards
Phil
My first is good enough for me after numerous stress tests. Sorry for you.
Btw, I'm not that picky about it anyway.
I think that also one of the problems is just human - that we hold these devices rather than set them down - and thus our fingers are always sensing microns of differences as we shift our fingers around. 3/1000ths edge or mating error in my laptop (as I type on my actual lap) is nothing - on my tablet a constant reminder this is a cheap device!
I do think pixels could easily be checked in process, and weighted for defect before shipping. Any in constant view - like center 80% - are unacceptable. Perimeter edge pixels not so much...
It's your bad luck, I'm sorry to say.
I'm on unit 3 which has zero screen-lift, zero dead pixels, zero problematic light bleed (eg no flare that affects visible colour density), zero problems with back cover seating. Which is also my good luck.
I've said before on this forum, there are clearly WAY too many QA issues on these tablets, and I have been advising friends and family to stay clear of them until the issues are sorted, but this does not mean that ALL units are defective - as a read around the various threads here will reveal.
Ive got 2 C80 versions. They are flawless. I also know one at work who is very happy, and he owns apple devices including iCrap!
You can believe whatever you want. Doesn't make you right.....just like I don't believe you have had 5 defective units. That's my prerogative. Doesn't make me right, either.
And nobody really cares what you buy!!!!!
If you can't be happy after 5 units you need to buy something else.I would never keep buying the same thing after the second was not up to par with my expectations.
Anyone having trouble after having the first one replaced is just a glutton for punishment or looking something to whine about. They make ipads every day.
I'm now on my fourth Nexus, had two C60 or C70 that had screen lift and stuck pixels along with some backlight bleed. Picked up a C80K which had a small amount of screen lift and really bad backlight bleed along the bottom of the screen, which was really irritating when watching a video in low light. Took that back for another C80K which has a very small screen lift and a faint backlight bleed, I don't know whether I'm just being picky or not but so far I'm OK with this one.
Got one and that had a washed out screen and image retention. Ridiculous how they can have so many devices out there with flaws.
Screen lift on left side as well.Have insurance with whom I bought it at. Waiting for a few months to see if these issues get worked out before I go and exchange it. Not that big of a deal to me, but it is there none the less.
Just fix the damn thing yourself and enjoy it.
My first one was flawless until I killed it screwing with the bootloader. Second one had screen lift that I fixed using washers. The official Asus fix is leaving the screws out. I'm pretty sure I'd rather spend 30seconds doing that myself then deal with your nonsense aggregation.
Yes there is a design flaw with the screen. Most will have this. Going through 9 is retarded. You should just stop your wasting everyone's time (Your and Asus).

I agree with the op. I've gone through several. All of which with the same screen lift. However I plan to fix it myself rather than complain about a product. Nothing beats this tablet in its price range and form factor. So I'm just gunna deal with what I got.

My first one had screen lift, did an RMA to Google, second unit perfect no problems.
I cant speak for people reporting sending 20 plus units back to google and still having issues. But I do believe the people buying from retail locations seeing a screen lift and returning it again and expecting not to see screen lift, when most likely it was being swapped from the same shipment their defective product came in on. Probably should just get the RMA process through google a shot
Well, my C90 seems pretty flawless.. hope I won't find any problems. As far as I tested it, there are none of the known issues.

Agreed... But the number of folks having issues and having raised them is now sizable. Check the XDA polls, over 700+ folks having reported various defects as documented in multiple threads, some of the defects are unbelievable if one thinks about manufacturing standards or QC, or just the design. I know in terms of percentage it still may be very less folks with issues, but just the type of issues reported is scary enough. I see similar posts in other ASUS forums and the reason I postponed on Prime as well.
I hoped that ASUS/GOOG would at least own up and make a statement that they have manufacturing defects, seeing users of these new tablets trying to fix these issues themselves or just living with it is pathetic imho...
I've got one c70 and one c80. Both are flawless, and I'm a really picky person. I grabbed them from Walmart.

This phone is not truly waterproof/resistant!!!!!
First off I want to start this off buy saying a few things. I work for AT&T so before anyone says its from improper usage remember I had to watch training videos on how to properly use it. Also, before anyone says well, you aren't really supposed to be using it in the water, you are wrong. The first thing we are trained on is how to properly close the back cover and how to show the customers Aqua mode to take pictures underwater. We actively use this as a main selling point, this is per Samsung.
Here is my story. I bought the Active on Thursday. The first thing I did with it was ensure the back was closed and made a video in my fish tank so I could show customers how it works underwater, and how good aqua mode is. That worked out perfectly except the video was a little dark, so I figured I would retake it.
In this time I had a customer swap out the phone they bought because it were defective, the bottom buttons stopped working on it. She was very vague when the water question came up but I thought nothing of it.
Now cue today. It was sunny outside so I thought it was the perfect time to reshoot the fish tank video. I ensured the back was secure, yes, including pressing down on the back where the AT&T logo is. I then submerged the phone in the tank while taking the video. Almost instantly the phone screen went black and said dock mode was enabled so I took the phone out of the water and everything went back to normal. I double checked the USB rubber to be sure. I just chalked it up to the phone doing crazy things in the water. I have read almost everywhere that the phone will say headphones are plugged in, etc. So I thought this was normal. I then put it back in and took a minute long video. Everything was fine. I even played back the video and it was fully working.
This is where everything went wrong. About 2 minutes later the phone started tweaking out, Google now opened on its own and the buttons were really sensitive. Then the buttons completely stopped working other than the power button and that's when I freaked out. I opened the battery cover and there it was, everything was soaked. but luckily none of the water damage indicators were colored. I then opened the USB door and it was like a fountain, so that's where the breach happened. The flimsy, rubber USB door. I did not tell a soul what happened and went back to work and swapped it for a regular Galaxy S4.
So please listen to my warning. There are way too many people getting this phone damaged, including me, a fully trained AT&T employee who took the proper precautions before doing anything.
Samsung should not be able to get away with calling this phone water resistant or water proof, and they should especially not include an Aqua Camera mode.
Also the warranty DOES NOT, I REPEAT, DOES NOT COVER WATER!!!!
I think it depends really, i understand where you are coming from, and you shouldnt trust it, but my friend was pushed in the pool with his and it survived without a issue
I've kept mine in my pocket and went for a swim in the pool. Worked fine after wiping it with a towel. You might have had a defective unit...

As an AT&T employee maybe you'll know the procedure for this..
I've read all the horror stories relating to the S4A, and there's been a few of them.. Is the fact that the device seems to fail often enough of a reason to exchange for a regular S4? I'm not within my 14 days anymore :/.I opted for this over S4 just because of the water resistance.

And I understand that I may have a defective unit, but I have read 3 separate reviews where the reviewer damaged their first phone. There is also a thread on XDA where a bunch of people state that they damaged their phone. This in itself either says that the phone doesn't work as advertised or there are way too many defective units out there for anyone to be safe to try the water and Samsung needs to know this.

Eh... I like the buttons...
The bottom line is that Samsung doesn't warranty the phone against water damage and therefor should Never sell it as such. If they can not stand behind an advertised function of their own product, they should not sell it. It doesn't matter if people abuse the phone in water or exceed the recommended specs (depth and length of time in water) because there is no way they can differentiate between people that stay within the specs and those that don't.
All I gotta say is the best way to get away with saying it is water resistance/proof would be making it like the Nexus 4 and no removable back. Make it wireless charging. Come with a wireless charger. Sd card slot and sim slot on the top or sides. Make it completely blocked off with no ports but a headphone hack the way they did making it water proof. That's the only way they can be certain its water resistant. Otherwise you have these issues.

Yeah, I have a feeling all of these water-related failures are going to kill the S4A early. Eventually, the threat of a class action lawsuit will cause them to trigger an EOL.
I suspect this will happen sooner rather than later, since showing it dunked in water in all the commercials, but not covering water damage is just screaming "class action."
My crystal ball says that within a year, you'll see AT&T (at least) offering to waive ETF for owners of S4A units damaged by water. This may be under the terms of a Class Action, or to avoid one... but in the end, that will probably be the end of the S4A story.

A simple solution to find out if your phone is waterproof... Turn the phone off and remove the battery, then close everything and put it in water for a few minutes. Take the phone out of the water and check to see if water got in the charging port and/or past the seal on the back. If it did get water in the device put your phone in rice for a day and return it for a working unit. If you didn't you should be fine.
If no power is going to your device it cannot short circuit. After the water is gone you can turn it on with no issues

as an owner of Galaxy S2, S3, Nexus and HTC One i have to say then Samsung products are inferior to any other manufacture,
HTC is NOT as important manufacture as Samsung but their devices are way better that Samsungs
as for water proofing Galaxy S4 Active was a clear copy of Xperia Z, since Samsung could NOT make every GS4 waterproof like SONY they made another phone and judging by experience SONY clearly made the better waterproofing,
i was in the swimming pool that day and there was Xperia Z's on the bottom of the pool (~1 to 2 meters) with NO damage,

"If no power is going to your device it cannot short circuit"
every phone has a small battery on its PCB to keep time and date if your battery drained or removed.
so a short circuit is a possibility.

hmmm ok, never heard of that
Either way when I tried the method I posted no water got in. Still don't think I will put it in water while it is turned on
My first shot in water:

After that pic, noticed water in display, rear camera, front camera, some buttons did not work, etc etc nice.

Remember, most people with this phone have entered into a 2-year contract. Simply recalling the phone wouldn't work. They'd either have to replace it with an equivalent model or waive the ETF. The problem with the former is that they've advertised the heck out of its water resistance, selling it as "everything proof." If they were to, say, replace it with a standard S4, the consumer would have a very real argument that it's not an equivalent model, which would be ANOTHER basis for a class action.
Also, remember, recalls are done by a manufacturer. AT&T isn't going to recall a Samsung device. Samsung would have to do that. A recall would only really work if Samsung offered another phone (like an S4), AND made a deal with AT&T, compensating them to waive the ETF if the consumer didn't want that phone. This may happen, but before it does, the remaining stock would be pulled from the shelves, and the phone would be EOL.
Again, I think that marketing this phone as waterproof, but not standing behind that marketing, is eventually going to lead to a class action. A class action, or the threat of one, will result in an early death for this device. I agree with what was said before though... I don't think we'll be seeing many more phones claiming water resistance. Those that do, will be sealed, and certainly won't have removable backs.

Yeah... saying a phone is "everything proof" and water proof is pretty stupid.. Honestly I think AT&T and Samsung could fix this in my mind just by warranty replacing water damaged S4 Actives. If they replace them in the event of water damage then we all will be happy. It doesn't happen to every unit, most users are fine in the water, but still a high percentage.
I for one love my active and the water proof was just a bonus, but I wouldn't mind them giving me my upgrade back

"water-resistant.” As Samsung points out in the device’s manual, the S4 Active is rated IP67, which means that it’s resistant to water only up to depths of a little over three feet , its not water proof .
hi, after two years of good service my z1c screen has a crack in it which makes upper part pf my screen unuseable. So i am thinking of buying the z3c but then i read all the reports about (spontaneous) cracks on front and back. I try to get an objective view on this but this is quite difficult. How often is this happening? If i read amazon.com comments most people seem happy. If i read german amazon comments, much mure people complain about broken screens... What do you suggest i do? I was looking at alternatives like htc mini 2 but one of the things i really dont want to give up is the battery capacity! Your opinion?
Regards
Frederik
I was in the same situation 1 month ago. Galaxy alpha was the only compact alternative, but i didnt want to give up my almost 4 years old sgs2 with 16+32 gb storage for fixed 32gb, not to mention battery capacity. So i called a service that replaces the fronts and backs of new phones, and they told me not to buy sony, because they are overhelmed with their handsets. So, i went and got myself a Z3C
I ordered 0.3mm glass for front and 3 different cases for back (using cheap silicon case with screen protection atm) to make it as safe as i can - so far everything is working as it should, and i'm very happy with it
Btw, glass on the back is 13$, front digitizer is 33$, and whole front with display is around 170$ (parts only)
Camera glass (which is plastic actually) is 4$, but its not easy to replace any of these. I also got myself a magnetic cable to minimize the use of flaps for usb port.
Thats about it... I also read many bad reports about spontaneous cracks, but decided to try my luck... As i said before, so far - so good
Hope this helps, sorry for being biased, but i really like it.
You get the gamble of an issue with every phone, but there'd be a call back if there was a wide spread complaint that exceeded a high enough number. That said yeah, there's a fair number of reports but most people are happy - it's unlucky people that aren't for obvious reasons.
I cracked my Xperia Z (C6603) and wondered if it was time to upgrade, or repair it. The repair cost would've been 280$ for a legitimate repair (I don't like buying third-party materials), and buying a new one would've been 350$. Since the Z3C was out and I found the Z too big for my hand anyway (Barely reach notifications when holding it), I figured I'd sell my cracked one (the current eBay est was roughly 100$), and 550$ for the Z3C in my country.
Since the Z3C was pretty much a no brainer if you want quality + hardware (All 'compact' variants don't compare spec wise) so I jumped in, and about 2 months I think now and my phone has been perfect to me besides the Cyanogen I'm using.
Figured the 100$ of selling the Z could effectively 'make up' what I paid for the Z3C... if I'd sold it. Still on my desk.
So maybe you can sell your old, cracked phone and 'save' with a Z3C. If you want compact, honestly there's no better choice if you're looking to upgrade.
If you want to save then you can always just get a repair or sell and rebuy a new Z1C.
If I were you, I'd assume that you'll get a perfect phone that wont ever crack unless you drop it. Weigh the other factors; Save Money or Upgrade.
If you aren't having any performance issues with anything like games, why bother upgrading?
Just like with any device, if something goes wrong, people write about it. I've had zero problems with my device, and I have not started any threads stating so. If the screen does spontaneously crack, you should be able to get it repaired or replaced under warranty, so why avoid it?
This is the best phone you can get under 5 inches. The performance is top notch, the battery life is amazing, the camera is just okay, but its waterproof and isn't bogged down by a heavy skin like Touchwiz. It's not a flawless phone, but none are! Even the fan favorite iPhone has it's issues (too slippery, camera lens that sticks out, large bezel around screen, poor battery life).
Get what works for you and don't look back!
Ok guys, i guess these posts were all i needed. Got mine via amazon yesterday. Took the mandarin red one.
So apparently my S6 Edge's screen cracked, edge to edge, precisely, diagonally UNDERNEATH THE GLASS..
This blows as basically Samsung won't do anything about it, ATT won't do anything about it. I won't be able to trade it in for ATT Next, and basically screwed the 914 dollars for this phone.
Sure the phone still works, there are no issues, but the crack is horrible to the eyes.
I can tell you as a first time Galaxy buyer, I already bought a LG G4, and plan on doing an insurance claim which will cost me 200 dollars and try and sell it or something, then I will never think about buying a Samsung device again. Poor quality control.
I am just saying, very disappointed with Samsung on this..
Did you get insurance?

Yes, it just costs 200 dollars to use. I remember when insurance was only like 50 bucks.
I got an LG G4, Samsung agreed to replace the screen, so once I get that done I'm just going to sell the phone.

Notice this piece... "Enrolled customers that are claim-free for 6 consecutive months or more can save 25% to 50% off the standard deductible"

I have a hard time understanding how this is possible. I've dropped my phone several times and never cracked the screen. Stop putting your phone's in skinny jeans lol

Man idk. Im sure youve seen me around, im a phone whore and buy pretty much every highend android phone that drops and somehow this s6 cracks in my pocket. Blew my mind.. Whatever ill be off to something new soon

My phone was not in my pocket.
It was gently resting on a solid surface. I picked it up, used it, was fine, set it down, picked it up again, cracked screen. The screen looks more like a tension crack than anything.
Samsung said they might be willing to cover it under warranty since there is NO impact marks at all. So I shipped them my phone and I am waiting. If they don't fix it, I'll insurance claim it. Either way after all is said and done I will basically sell the phone as I bought the G4 and its so much better.
I'm a union laborer and keep my phone in my pocket at all times with just the slim grinke case and every once in a while I lean on it hard or something hits it I get worried look at it and it's always good
So Samsung just told me that YES the crack is only on the inside of the screen, that the screen itself does not appear to be damaged. However, they will not cover it under warranty.
I shall vow to never purchase a Samsung product ever again. This phone has been a nightmare when it comes to quality control.
Original cost was 235. With enough complaining I got it down to 108.
My S6 glass did get a thin crack from the right side of the home button to the edge of the screen after one day of use. Did not drop it, or any abusive treatment, the day I used it.(Kept in my jacket pocket when it was not in use)
Returned it to be checked and hopefully repaired, but no such luck. Got it back unrepaired and had to pay the cost for the check. (Explanation from the workshop was that the glass on the S6 does not break, and this was their first case, so no warranty repair)
Will check with Samsung directly, but based on the other posts in this tread i'm not to optimistic.
Has anyone got a cracked glass repaired on warranty?
Just a comment to those with this phone that *haven't* had this issue, you have to remember that engineering and QC are essentially a numbers game. Areas that might have problems aren't going to go bad 100% of the time, even under duress.
If anyone remembers the days of bad pixels, they didn't happen to every screen. And the manufacturers were basically balance the cost of the technology, QC, and warranty claims. It didn't serve anyone for people to say, "But *I* don't have bad pixels," when others users are reporting that they are not only having bad pixels cropping up with new devices *and* the manufacturer told them to pound sand.
The edge screens are a new innovation and are going to have some sort of failure rate. Samsung can't produce hundreds of thousands of devices and not have at least one failure that had nothing to do with the end user.
This probably didn't pop up frequently enough (or at all) during testing and QC didn't have adequate means to identify devices that might experience this failure (perhaps due to the way the screen or display is mounted to the phone chassis) and, now that there are enough numbers in the wild, people are experiencing a problem that is clearly the fault of the manufacturer.
Samsung then compounds the issue by saying they won't fix or replace it under warranty.
That's pretty shameful. I say this as someone with a lot of Samsung devices.
Also, remember that Samsung has a pretty long history of defects that they wouldn't deal with under warranty. The original Galaxy S had GPS problems that essentially rendered that feature unusable on a large number of devices and Samsung did nothing and offered no warranty service despite it clearly being manufacturer defect.
Let's focus on the problem rather than tell people that are reporting it to stop wearing skinny jeans.
This same thing happened to me, I have a hairline crack going from the top left of the phone all the way down to about 1 inch from the bottom left, from the edge to just past the edge in a curve.
I never dropped the phone, and it's in a case... no marks on the case nor on the phone that would indicate it had a fall and I know I didn't drop it. And I don't wear skinny jeans either.
I am thinking there must be a design flaw on these curved screens (I notice the phone does get very hot when charging, and am thinking if there was a fault in the glass the heat from charging could have caused it to crack?) - anyone hear anything more on it, is it any more rampant than what has been discussed here, any signs of Samsung admitting there may be a flaw in the design and that they would cover it under warranty?
I've only had the phone just about 1 month :\
I had the exact same thing happen to me. It was only about a month after I bought it. Mine was just sitting on the table (face up) and I actually heard it crack. Made a "tink" sound. Never dropped it before and I'm very careful with my phone.
I do have insurance, but I'm not spending any more money on this POS ..

Hi, i been unlucky and broke the bottom left corner of my note8 screen. :crying: , luckily phone still works even tho there is a tiny hole in corner (guessing i lost the water resistance rating).
The phone still works, so im not in a huge rush to replace the screen because of the cost. But i do have a few questions i hope someone might have the answers for .
1. I have replace screens before in phones ( none my own, i'm usually very careful with my own phones) but this would be my first with water resistance rating. Have anyone of you had success in replacing a screen yourself and feel confidant enough that it still water resistance or even tested it out?
I would like to keep it water resistance for the off chance i ever drop phone in water. I under stand that the screen and back is held together with double sided tape cut to the shape of phone along with a few screens in middle. i'm been looking at screen replacements that's already attach to the center body so i could just have to deal with moving over the insides of phone and dealing with the back cover only
2. Would you recommend that or only ordering the screen?
3. and last question does anyone have a reliable seller(ebay) or online store they recommends. I have a issue before with a Samsung phone that they released a update and it block the use of Non-OEM screens. So i want to make sure i'm getting OEM screen with 0 chances of getting one that Samsung could block.
THANKS!
no recommendations?
If you want to maintain water resistance your best bet is to send it to Samsung. Its actually cheaper that way as well.
For example, I replaced the screen on a S8 Plus myself. I paid $244 for the screen/frame assembly plus had to buy new adhesive for the back door and lost my warranty. I later found out from Samsung they will replace the S8 Plus screen for $217. That includes shipping.
I believe the Note 8 screen is a little more expensive but not much.
check with Samsung support if you are eligible for the 1 free screen replacement thing, you could be lucky
Better of letting Samsung change the screen for approx $250.

I broken also mine, really small distance from the ground,( basically while I was sitting in the car) but kept an angulation that damaged the hedge and propagated a bit on the side, there is the possibility that the screen replacement will lower the price? Currently 350 eu are a bit too much for me. I am just a bit disappointed because honestly was thinking the gorilla glass would have been much more solid, they should sell it with a custom coverage to encourage people to use a cover. I did my research on the internet where was said in almost every place that the problem of this screen was that would scratch but not easily broke.
I broke mine....180 € in official technical center in Portugal.

That's frustrating for sure. The newer gorilla glass on the Note 8 is indeed more impact resistant than before, but it's still glass. 350 euro seems very steep for a screen replacement though...almost double what I expected...
I shattered the screen and damaged the digitizer on my Note8 a little while ago. Found that it was actually cheaper to send it to Samsung for repair than to buy the screen/digitizer. They even replaced the rear glass for $237. I bought mine used, so no warranty for me.
the point is, if for the screen I have to pay more than 30 percent of the value of the phone, and Samsung is advertising a super gorilla glass instead to advice prudence and maybe offer a free cover, I personally could be not so loyal to them in future. If I want to get ripped off I would buy an iphone.

Well, really the point is: if you want a sturdy device that can endure SOME, just SOME abuse, get a CAT device, or at least a samsung active series device, all normal standard devices are subject to scratchs and cracks when dropped, as for the repair price, that is exactly the penalty for not being careful, Just the same as when car accidents occur, the more expensive the car, the more expensive the parts and repair, and, an iphone screen is by no means cheap, my daughter dropped her iphone, and the cost was 220 dollars, but they only changed the outer part, not the lcd panel, the whole screen would have been around 400 dollars
