Hi everyone,
Theather Mode is clear to me (you can toggle it off/on). However how does Sunlight mode work? There is no On/Off Toggle in this setting?
Regards,
Fabio
From what I understand, it's a kind of boost for a short moment. A toggle wouldn't make sense in this mode as it would suck your battery.

just pull down the menu that would have muted the watch on 4.4
from there you can swipe to the left to activate the sunlight mode
apparently, Triple-clicking the hardware button quickly activates Sunlight Mode too

I know how to trigger it. I am more interested how it works. So it boosts brightness.... for how long? and can I stop it somehow?

Fabio

Cool! And 2 clicks does theater mode.
I was going to say, it would be hard to be in the sun, trying to see the screen, to pull down and select Sunlight mode  ...

I don't know why they made it that way: You have to swipe down, swipe 2 times to the right and then hit the switch. No way I can find my way in bright sunlight... (LG Watch, without buttons...)
I think they should have implemented it that way : every time you touch the face to wake the watch, maximize brightness for about 1 sec - enough to read but not enough to drain battery.

And, in case you do that in the complete darkness, when you are half asleep ... you got yourself a temporary blindness and a wake-up bump .
Should be a way to change the time for sunligth mode. Sometimes 5 sec is not enough, for example to open the navigator or search something in internet.
Another way could be if you are touching the screen the watch should extend this time for 5 sec more.
could be a good mod!
On the LG G watch R you can press the Button on the side 3 times quickly which gives you sunlight mode.

I have an LG G Watch R.
immediately after this update about 1.5 weeks ago that I installed my watch no longer functions as it functioned before.
I no longer get call notifications on the watch. previously when a call came in the watch would start vibrating the caller image would appear and I could answer or ignore from the watch.
this no longer occurs (HUGE functionality loss for me)
also "always on" no longer works. it always turns off VERY rapidly after a few short seconds and you can only turn it on again by pressing the button. no "ambient" mode any more.
and of course since ambient is off (I assume) twist to full on does not work anymore
touch will not wake it up twist will not wake it up ONLY pressing the button.
suggestions? these are simply massively functionality losses to me I flat out would not have bought it if it functioned this way when I got it. what's the point?
I am hoping this is something I can fix. yes I checked android wear no joy. I uncheck and recheck always on and the watch comes on for a second and then goes off again. still have to press the button to make it live again.
Cinema mode activated?
Sent from my SGP611 using XDA Free mobile app
What is that? I do not see anything called cinema mode anywhere?
On active screen swipe down from the top and then wipe left. You will see Cinema mode and Sunlight boost.

That, or you can push the button twice really fast. Does the same thing, just quicker...
Thank you so much both of you that was exactly the problem watch is working normally now double tap and I noticed there was a tiny little icon in the middle of the screen look kind of like a little microphone icon the line through it very tiny but now I know what to look for if it happens again again thank you
Hello.
Is there any possibility to get working seconds hand in dimmed mode.
Every watchface which i've tried have not working seconds hand/display in dimmed mode.
Additionally minute hands sometimes "hangs" for about 2-3 minutes which resulting showing wrong hour.
I assume that this is some kind of power saving feature but it is very annoying when watch shows for eg. 11.59 and real time is 12.02 :/
Is there any fix for this?
Edit the watch face and you can include whatever you want. You will need a face from Facer or WatchMaker or Intellicom.
I did't make my point clear. I have watchface which have secconds hand in dimmed mode, but it stops moving as soon as watch goes into dimmed mode.
It's a power saving feature. The screen refresh is slowed down to 1 frame per minute in dim mode, so you cannot have seconds displayed. Also the cpus are being slowed down a lot during that period as well as the sensors. The only sensors that is being probed during the dim mode are the gyroscope and the touchscreen.

Is there any way of changing this, by changing maybe kernel or someting ?
If you build your own custom ROM, of course you can do whatever you want.
Your battery will suffer though.

it's a pity because i don't know how to do that.
So for me, there is no solution
Big thanks.
You still can use a custom watchface (like watchmaker/facer) and extend the time for the active mode. Still, why would you do that?

do you know how to change the time for the active mode in facer or wherever?
thx
Is there a way to have the screen completly off while I am sleeping? - as I like to have ambient mode on (for the day) but it seems like a waste of battery to have it on in the night time.

Therefore I use a Watchmaker face. Three advantages:
1. You can pick, edit or make your favorite face
2. You can define active screen timeout, I use 15 seconds
3. After around 25 minutes of being idle ambient display turns off as well
Well, at least here it does :good: Best app for Wear imho
Here some screenshots of the battery consumption using such a face:
The green part underneath the graph is where the watch is on but the display is off. As you can see quite a nice idle time you can achieve this way :good:

Ah ok,the 30 minute time out is also happening on stock watchfaces :good:
Didn't know that, installed Watchmaker immediately. Still good to know, thanks!

just enable cinema mode and your screen will be off , and you can activate it, pressing the button
I used Cinema Mode at night too. Just double press the button.
Howdy...
I love this watch (had it 2 days now)... but many reviews I've read say 'reading even in direct sunlight'...
So, I have the screen cranked to full brightness, and I find it hard to read in the sunlight, even with no sunglasses on... The 'ambient' screen is barely visible, and the fully activated screen is not much better...
Am I doing something wrong here? Why are reviewers saying 'perfect in bright sulight' and I can barely read it...?
Thanks!
Best,
Ben
Well it has been overcast here last few days so cant really comment too much.. but the couple of times the sun was out it did wash out and made the display a little bit hard to see... my brightness was set to 4. There is a "brightness boost" in the pull down menu .. have you tried that?
You can download apps for brightness boosting but I doubt it would help
You know, I haven't tried the brightness boost, mostly because it seems like too much work to get to it if I just want to glance at the watch to know the time and such...
Best,
Ben
Yes exactly, the boost is too much effort for its intended purpose when you can simply cup your other hand over the watch in a fraction of the time but I would go further, the feature has a ball dropping feel to me. Shouldn't someone have figured out that having the solution to not being able to see the screen be nested multiple screens into the on screen menu system of the screen you cant see as being a bad idea? I would like to see the boost attached to something like a triple tap. As to it working in bright sunlight flawlessly I would say no but I've not had any device that ever did and wasn't expecting it to be visible in the brightest sunlight. I would say it can be seen in most sunlit situations in "on" configuraton and that compared to similar devices it is relatively good.

Ah, thanks. It never occured to me to try multiple actions on the crown.
These shortcuts first appeared with the Android Wear update in December.
Before that long pressing the button would take you to the settings (this keeps working)
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...watchs-button-activate-theatre-sunlight-mode/
holy crap I never knew there were shortcuts with pressing the crown!
Thank you!!
For me when I cover the screen with my palm, there is a quick vibration then screen dims and comes back on. On my square G watch this would enter theater mode which was nice in the car to turn off the display when dark outside.
The pull down menu, swipe left theater mode does work. That method isn't as convenient when driving however.
I know there are settings for always on and tilt to wake screen, but I only want the screen to turn off while driving at night. Rest of the time I like the screen on to show watch face and brighten when I raise arm.
Any other settings or way to make the palm cover work?

Press the side button twice to enter theatre mode.
Same here. As soon as "Always on" mode is active, covering the screen does not trigger anymore theater mode.
Only way to get it is double press the side button as mentioned by mward1999
covering the screen should get you ambient mode not theater mode, when using always on.

Unfortunately no. Now you have to swipe down, tap the brightness icon, tap theater mode icon. Definitely less convenient.
