The last time I plugged my Nexus 6 into the computer was to root it.
All went well. However, now some time later when I plugged in my phone no response from the computer.
I have plugged it in to both a Linux and Windows 7 computer.
Any ideas?

Go to settings>storage. Then press three dots on the upper right corner. See if mtp option is checked. If it is checked and still you computer doesnt recognize your device, try installing driver.

Ugh... Still nothing
Well I grabbed the Motorola cable to see if that would help and by golly it did!
Not sure why a standard Monoprice micro usb cable was not working...

It seems that when I try to connect my n1 to my CPU, my CPU can not recognize my n1 SD card while its in USB mode.
I am currently running window 7 32b. I thought it was my windows that was faulty so reformat my CPU with fresh copy of windows. However that was not the case. So I tried my other computer running windows XP and it picks up the SD card instantly. So I tried a new SD card in my N1 tried it again. Didn't work. I am confused. Everytime I need to transfer files from my CPU to my n1 I have to pull out the SD card. Its strange. All the drives were installed correctly but it will not detect. Other CPU will detect. Is anyone having this issue with windows 7 on your computer. I wan to fix this. Its really getting annoying. Please if you guys have any ideas let me know. I even called HTC and they figured out its my CPU not the phone. And I agree. It works on other windows but not my windows 7.

Make sure usb debugging is checked marked before trying to mount....See if that works

USB debugging works fine. I am able to use adb commands. Funny thing is phone thinks its in USB mode. There's got to be some driver issue or something. Drivin me crazy.

If all else fails...get one of those WiFi file transfer apps. Way, Way, Way faster than transfering through the USB cord on the N1 (tops out at 2mbps).

Thx I will give it a try.

Try another PC. My Home PC that I built used to recognize it... then stopped... then wouldn't for weeks... and just the other day I noticed it found it (after a minute).
Today on my netbook (EeePC 1000HE) it gave me fits a few times before coming up.
Nothing really changed on my Home PC really and USB sticks would read just fine, but not my N1. I know I reset the thing many times without success so finding it working was surprising.
One thing I use are my existing mini-usb cables and I picked up these little mini-micro usb converters. Perhaps those are flaky?

Pushed Here From My N1
So I'm having an issue connecting my captivate to my Windows 7 64bit machine. (Seems to be a common problem) I've installed the drivers from the posts on these forums. I have changed the USB settings to Mass storage also. If I plug my phone in, Windows will "sometimes" recognize it and the internal and external SD will show up in "My Computer" This only happens sometimes and moving the plug to other USB ports gets it to recognize. I'm then able to mount and everything works fine. But the problem I'm having is USB debugging mode. Any time I have this turned on and plug my phone in, Windows will "attempt" to install a driver but after awhile fail. I've tried to manually install the drivers but no luck. Anyone know why just USB debugging will not work? I tried it on my friends computer who has the exact same version of Windows and the exact same drivers for the phone and it works find every time I plug it in, USB debugging or not. So strange.
Thanks
Try a different USB port on your PC.

Ok so got it working with the back USB port... so strange that I have to do that. Is this something that will be fixed in the future?

I don't think anyone knows where the problem lies. Seems more likely it is the PC or a windows 7 x64 issue.
Well, when I plug my phone into either my ps3 or computer the phone will recognize that it is in USB, but in the pulldown menu it gives me no option to mount it. What would cause this? I tried restarting my phone, but that didn't help.

Settings -> Application -> USB Settings -> Ask on Connect
As long as your pc doesnt display a message telling you the device has malfunctioned and windows doesnt recognize it its more than likely configuration issue with your phone.
the usb connection interface is wonky and Ive replaced one phone already because it failed completeley.
Good luck hope this helps.
I don't think that would have fixed it anyway. It recognized that it was connected in mass storage, but it just didn't give me the option to mount it for some reason. Anyway, I got it to recognize it after I kept switching mass storage on and off

You never mentioned you had USB debugging enabled? Did you?
I am using a Custom ROM and from time to time my computer doesn't recognize that I have connected my phone via USB. I usually can be sure on my Computer Explorer isn't opened then disconnect and re connect USB cable. Also if my phone has been connected and I haven't Mounted and phone "goes to sleep". I have to disconnect USB,Wake the phone and then connect USB and immediately Mount.

It wasn't my computers problem though, thats the thing... It was something with the phone. I still don't know exactly what is causing it, but this is not the first time it has happened.
This is a quick tip for people with Windows XP who do not see their USB connected Android device in Explorer.
I had the correct cable, MTP mode enabled, the latest USB drivers and the computer was recognizing my phone as
an MTP device but it wasn't showing in Windows Explorer.
It turns out the problem is that the MTP protocol came after Windows XP so it needs to be installed.
The only way to do that is to install the Windows Media Player 10 or newer.
Was USB debugging enabled? I disabled it and it shower up right away.

This particular problem was there with and without USB Debugging.
I also had trouble installing the driver with USB Debbuging turned on.
My problem is that I had manually disabled Windows Media Player years a go because I hate it that much.
I posted this to give people in my situation the heads-up because it took me forever to figure it out.

I have to pull the battery and then it will charge fine. Tonight I discovered that it will not connect to the computer it will charge but will not show that it is connected to the computer. I tried a factory reset still the same. I have tried different computers nothing seems to be working at this point I do not know what to do any one have any ideas.

I have found that using the cable that came with the phone doesn't work for me to do anything but charge the phone on the computer but if I use a regular USB cable it connects to the computer with no issue if your computer doesn't support USB 3.0 then you will have that issue

What are you trying to do with it connected to the computer? Airdroid allows me to connect over wifi and I can transfer files that way.

If no cable you try shows the phone connected to the computer, use a very strong light and a magnifying glass to inspect the microUSB port that a regular (not the 3.0) cable connects to. The center bar shouldn't be bent up or down, it shouldn't be touching the metal shell and there shouldn't be any tiny dirt particles in there. Those - and the cable having only 2 charging wires and no data wires - are the most common causes of problems with the microUSB port.

I wonder if you might be having an issue with your cable then, or possibly the USB on your computer? I use the included USB 3.0 cable for both charging from the wall plug and connecting to the computer, and both work flawlessly. Wall plug charges nice and fast, and even though my computer has only USB 2.0, I have never once had the computer not recognize the phone and not be able to transfer data between the two. I actually get faster data speed transfers with the 3.0 cable than with older USB cables.
