[Lollipop] M7 GPE screen on during the call - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After I have upgrade to Lollipop, I have encounter a issue that screen does not turn off when take device to ear during a call. Am I the only one encounter this issue?

I have a similar problem but not all the time. My ear then either mutes the mic or puts it on loudspeaker whole I'm on the call.

I thought I am the only one encounter this problem, hope they will issue the fix ASAP. It is really annoying.

Mhhh I don't have this issue. The only "issue" is when I'm calling my ear goes not enough over the proximity sensor and the screen Doesn't turn off. But that's not really an issue, it is hardware related because the sensor is left of the speaker.

Did you cover the mic hole by your finger? Or any cases you used?

no i havent
Could it be a noise cancellation issue? I know certain roms allow for disabling or changing noise canceling (cyanogenmod?) for testing the idea...
I think it is software related issue.
I got it also. My software version is 1.29.401.13 and my brother got the 1.29.401.12 version he had no problems.

When receiving a call, sound comes through speaker first

Recently when i receive a call and the caller talks as soon as i pick up, the sound will come out of the speaker first before going to the headset?
is anyone else having this issue?

[Q] Extremely low in call volume.

My HTC One has extremely low in call volume from the mic. I can hear the person I am calling or who called me fine but they can't hear me or barely able to hear me. I downloaded a sound recorder app and when I talk into the mic in that app it plays back at a reasonable volume. Would a different radio file fix this problem?
I had this issue with my One X for awhile, come to find out, there was lint stuffed up in the mic hole.. Check that first.

I am having the same problem. when I am in call, if i switch to speaker phone it instantly becomes loud clear. I am going to RUU back to stock GPE or stock Sense to see if it fixes the problem.
Ill report back to you if it does.

did it work?
I have the same problem with my replacement phone. I'm sending it back to TMO for another. From what I've read it seems like a hardware issue related to the noise cancelling microphone.

My nexus 5 arrives tomorrow. Once I have that in hand, I am going to fully wipe my HTC One, RUU back to stock and S ON the phone to be sent back to HTC for a replacement. I will test the microphone before sending it back to see if the full RUU fixes it but I doubt it will.
I flashed several diff firmwares, h boots, kernels, roms etc on the phone and none of them had an effect of the mic. The microphone problem appeared out of no where when I was running a rom and kernel combination that previously had no issues. In other words, I changed nothing and the problem arose. No combination of software changes yielded any improvement in my limited testing. I am quite sure this is not a solvable problem as it is hardware related and that you should likely send your phone in for a replacement.

Recording volume issue :(

I've just noticed that the mic isn't working on my video recorder. I've tested it on memos and it works, but not when video recording. Maybe memos uses a different mic to record sound? I've tried to stick a pin in the mic hole to see if maybe Its dirt, but no change. I'm running the latest firmware and maximus 30.0... Anyone able to help? Thanks.
Could be a hardware problem. But if it had never happened before or from the very first time you have used the video function try flashing a different rom.

I have a video recording from a couple of days ago and Its working fine. I can only think that rain water has somehow got in and damged it :/. Ill flash a different rom and see what happens, fingers crossed lol
Did you ever figure out a fix for your issue? I've been having the same problem lately. I recorded a video today and the microphone volume was incredibly low and I could barely hear myself talking, even when I put the volume up to the max. It seems to only be an issue when taking a video because I tried a voice call, a speakerphone call, and a skype video call and each time the microphone was loud and clear. I have a video that I recorder about a month ago and it is plenty loud so it seems to be a new issue. I'm out of ideas...any thoughts?
Thanks

What ROM are you running? Does it improve after a reboot? Does it come back again later?

Thanks for the quick response. I'm running stock (not rooted). I tried rebooting and still have the same issue. There's no way to adjust the recording microphone volume in the camera app, correct? I wish I could figure out the issue. I suppose I could try rooting and installing a custom ROM, but I'm happy enough with stock. If you have any other suggestions, I'd very much appreciate it.

Hey, take a look at this thread below and see if this describes your problem. It's probably happening because audio is only being recorded from the left channel only. Bug since kitKat update and very annoying.

Yes! This must be my problem because I checked the video I recorded and I only hear sound on the left channel. Thanks for showing me that thread, I was afraid it was a problem with just my device. This bug needs to be fixed ASAP.

[Q] Very strange problem with sound...!

Hi there,
I have flashed my ROM to 4.4 official but afther that I've got a very bad problem with my sound.
After I answer a phone call or call someone myself, my cell phone's sound doesn't come out of speaker and it comes from the hearing speaker on top of the cell phone (The speaker that when we call someone hear his voice from it). This problem continues until I restart the phone.
What's my problem? What can I do to solve it?
Oh the pain and agony you must be going through now.
