and how about if you don't have a samsung device? I'd like to try to mess around with it a bit, try to get it working with a non-samsung machine

Interesting. I installed the app on my HTC one running omj rom. And everything works except for svoice. Just turn off the hardware keyboad function so you can text. Awesome

Hi, so you have the watch workin with the Htc one and everything works except s voice, im very interested as i have the Htc one, you can talk on the watch and get all notifications etc? Thanks in advance.

Yes everything is working fine. I can send a receive calls with no problem. I'm gonna try to install svoice today and see what happens

Installed the app on HTC One with official 4.2.2 and tried to connect to the Gear. There seems to be a control mechanism that kills the connection. It says on screen for a second that it was connected, but then a message pops up stating smth like "validation check failed".
Can someone who has access to both devices give it a try?

I think you must have Android 4.3 to support Bluetooth 4.0 profile.

I have the Note 3 but have not got the gear yet.
I downloaded the gear manager app but cannot open it.
When I try to open it, it tries to connect to the watch but all I get is message "device not found".
How did you guys manage to open the Gear Manager app?

So with 4.1.2 omj ROM you CAN conect the Gear with the HTC One, whereas with the official 4.2.2 you cannot.
Have you tried to install the s-voice app (from GS3 i think should be the one that works) and see if the watch can do s-voice?

I tried pairing the watch with a Nexus 7 tablet running AOKP JB_MR1 4.2.1 and no-go. I tried a Galaxy Nexus running CM 10.1.0-RC2 4.2.2 also a no-go. Both devices prompt an error message that says device not supported.

The link cannot download the file already. Anyone can post a new link for it?

This application required Samsung libraries to be present.
All gear apps that work for phones other than Note 3, will work even without gear manager installed. All you need just initiate your gear with Samsung phone, that pair with phone you want to use it with. But all you can do without note 3 is just calling functions, pedometer ( not phone related ant all), etc. Notifications won't work, you won't be able to install any additional apps....

Many thanks big_pongo. I'm also living in Thailand, I'm downloading the firmware form the link you provided, how did you upgraded the S4 to Android 4.3 with the new Russian firmware, you upgraded using Odin?

So, Thai menu is not much concern for me ... (This is the really good new to make Galaxy Gear work with Galaxy S4 i9500.)

Thanks again for links and instruction, but I'm a "farang" (foreign) so cannot read Thai. After upgrade the S4 to 4.3 can I root using Kingo Android Root? Will the upgrade delete all my files and apps installed on S4?

Umm... I'm not sure about rooting by Kingo (when it is Android 4.3) because I rarely make my new device ROOTED.
But those links in Thai is not about the instructions how to flash, no worry!
For sure... If you do flash ROM on your device.
make a backup of the things (files) on Galaxy S4 either to microSD card or to Computer by using app "mybackup" or "Go backup" or helium (used with device and computer)".
download Odin and Official ROM (Russia)
wipe data/factory reset (before and after flashing ROM)
Now, you can install GEAR Manager from Samsung Apps without .apk to manually install on your S4. :good:
All files ... if you installed from Google Play, no worry, you can re-install them later on once your S4 becomes Android 4.3. [But you need to make backup first).
I can tell you that Android 4.3 is pretty good. (I don't care about Thai menu because I can't wait for Official Rom from Thai that wastes my time.)

I upgraded my Galaxy S4 (GTi 9500) to Android 4.3 and I can confirm that all the features of Galaxy Gear like Weather, Notification, S Voice etc are now working fine and the S4 is now full compatible with the Gear.I didn't wiped data/factory reset on S4 and after re-installed a few application I found all my apps, setting, language and accounts still configured on the phone like before the upgrade. The Galaxy Gear is now a very powerful and useful device in full compatibility with my S4 with Android 4.3 which enhances all its features.
I highly recommend to all owners of Galaxy S4 to upgrade to Android 4.3 using the links provided by big-pongo on this thread.

As of right now on the gear 2, you get the message via your messaging app and then to reply you have to find fleshy on your watch scroll to find the contact and then you can reply.
Flesky shows all contacts weather you have all or favorites selected in gear manager.
There are no settings in flesky as of right now.

Its a tizen app. I think its only avail for gear/gear 2 with tizen.

So, we cant share tizen apps ?, like on android ?, =( well i will read about tizen maybe i can see a way to backup apps and share that would be a problem with tizen if we cant share and backup apps.

I think it's possible to acces gear2 tizen appz by editing build.prop to change name of product localised by samsung store
I want make test but I canot find a modified image for root the New XXUCNF1 base.
If someone can look if build.prop file is on tizen and post here I think after mod and put on rooted tizen gear with adb push (with tizen sdk) we can access to gear2 appz

As stated above, gear 2. that's why i don't think this is going to work for you. I was just giving you a heads up before you switched your gear 1 to tizen just to get this app.
XDA will not let me upload it. File is too large.

i know this appz is available for gear 2 and it's for this i want bypass the samsung appstore by editing build.prop if i found it on tizen after root.
(For now i canot root because no found file for the new base relase)

I have a gear 2 and that is the only flesky app in my backup. It works for me.

after look your file i see in assert folder the FleksyGear.wgt
At the moment if i put apk on my phone installation is OK but get error from gear manager notification for the .wgt package to gear. (Same issue on watch styler apk)
I test to put it directly from adb to look result

is anyone able to get fleksy working on the gear 1? Can someone rehost the APK/WGT for testing?

i have rebuilt it on sdk and i deleted all priviliege needed... thats install but when i open it i see just "contacts"...
I think there is a part of fleksy on the phone... can you upload the apk?

I am having a problem with my messages and notifications. .....
First of all I'm not receiving any notifications and when I go into messages setting that image pops up

Tried factory reset....Uninstaller and reinstall gear manager. ....no avail
I'm am on note 2 running alliance on my n2 watch unrooted
Perhaps others same problem [emoji55]

if you find out let me know i tried alot of things to stop getting this issue and still no luck
idk if its sumthing thats behind the scene that we broke or not.
if you run your phone back to stock it will work fine and also i tried it on another phone running same rom it worked fine.
i tried removing saproviders and it will reinstall automatically but still does not fix issue may get 1 text thru it.
i ended up switch default messaging to handcent to recieve text and everything else works fine.

Never got that message with my note 3 and I'm rooted.

Same as a phone use Odin flash the tar. Enable usb debugging on watch under about.

It only happens if you use latest version Gear Manager 2.2. Install version 2.1, don't update to v2.2 and it will work.
Install 2.1 while your data connection and wifi is off.
But there is a trick, Gear Manager want to install 2.2 update anyway so every time when you want to start Gear Manager to do something eg. install apps, switch off Bluetooth then switch on and connect to the Gear smart watch using android Bluetooth connection. Gear manager pop up and you can install/uninstall apps and configure the settings.

Could you sorta elaborate better on the trick....sorry[emoji51]

There is new gear manager pulled from s6 firmware, so far no saproviders force close and it looks like everything working.

Here u go install it as normal apk but if it says package conflicts then u need a factory reset then install this apk

I used APK updater from XDA labs and updated to latest version of touchwiz but it is now called Samsung experience home and normal the new touchwiz APK wouldn't install due to it sharing the same name and they would conflict but this time it installed because it has a different name so hope this helps in some way.

Well I have Samsung experience home on phone but if I was you I would look for the most recent one because you will probably end up with the same problem as the touch Wiz update where the appps conflict due to them having the same name so you will only have the one shot of getting it on your phone

S9 messages app stopping on s6
I installed the messages app on s6...and cleared its data...buy whenever i tap on the messages in the app the app stops...any fix???

I installed the s9 messages app on s6..and cleared its data...but whenever i try to open the texts in app it stops....any fix??

Did you reboot phone after installing you might want to try this first.

missing sth I guess, stock S6 rom running Android 7 but still stuck in TouchWiz base. S7, S8 used to be in Android 7 have the new Samsung Experience base. S6 using Ultimate Nougat (base on S8, so it works) here running Samsung Experience 8, install that without f/c
