I am running the app through blue stacks on my lap top. When I first purchased the app it worked perfectly casting to chromecast. Now It shows that it recognizes the chromecast but will not connect to it. I have tried a soft reset of the chromecast as well as the laptop and still no luck. The laptop and chromecast are on the same network and chromecast is working casting from the browser so it has to be an issue with the app.
Sir,

Hi,
I was lucky enough to grab a last price today from best buy n feel quite proud owner of most sort after device
It works beautifully integrated with chrome browser irrespective of devices and plays HD videos from YouTube smoothly.
But then doesn't play Netflix videos for some strange reasons... Says " unable to connect to netflix. please try again or visit chromecast "
Had a chat with customer care of Netflix they have no clue about this.
FYI Netflix works perfectly in standalone laptop or android phone.
I had done factory reset of chrome cast and my internet speed is > 15 MBS with n series wireless router
Any advice will be highly appreciable
Thanks

Same issue for me. It appears to be an issue with Netflix but there's no way to report is as they are clueless when it comes to the Chromecast.

I've had a couple of random errors with Netflix as well, all the while it worked fine on my computer. For me though, they've worked themselves out after an hour or so. Haven't had time to dig an further into it.

Same here.
Since I just picked up the unit yesterday, first try with Netflix had connection issues. Then about an hour later, Netflix worked flawlessly.

Surprisingly :fingers-crossed:.. Netflix worked after a day .. Chromecast works pretty well including HD movies with awesome sound ..
Its the Netflix app if you are using the new nexus 7 tablet. They probably updated it, but if you still have issues try uninstall and reinstall or FC and clear data and cache.

Very surprised to read this. I have streamed at least 20 shows since getting it.
So far never an issue or glitch. It runs flawlessly.
I am curious to see what the issue is for people.
I was casting from my desktop and note2. Both didn't work at the time, but like I said, the connection issue resolved itself about an hour later which leads me to believe it was on Netflix's end.
Same issueIthink
Hi Guys,
I'm having the same issue. I have set up DNS addresses to unotelly ones and Netflix is working perfectly on PC's and android devices but when I cast from within the app it appears on a red screen with Netflix on it and a spinning timer ......it just sits there doing this with no change. Wish I could get it sorted. Youtube on HD works fine but just can't get Netflix to cast. Most frustrating.
Any help would be appreciated.
remember guys you can't stream movies on dialup connections, you gotta have a robust connection to stream hd and not see any wacky things going on with your devices.
Buggar just found this on unotelly site
Setting Up UnoDNS for Chromecast (Requires DD-WRT Router)
Modified on: Fri, Oct 11, 2013 at 1:20 PM
Google's Chromecast devices allow you to stream Netflix and other channels directly on your TV. Chromecast however has hard-coded Google DNS servers and offers no way to change them. In order to access unblocked apps on the Chromecast, the Google DNS requests need to be rerouted to UnoDNS servers at the router level.
Since most routers don't have this functionality, the only way Chromecast devices will work with UnoDNS is with a supported DD-WRT enabled Router. Chromecast is NOT SUPPORTED in any other way until further notice.

Ftfy.
I have found a solution that should work with almost any router, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47609732&postcount=103
I, fortunately, have had no problems with Netflix.
I have a Netgear router.
No issues here either.
I got my Chromecast today, I'm not sure why i bought it already as i live in Sweden and i couldn't even get the app from Playstore.
But to my problem. My Chromecast is plugged in the TV. I get the bootscreen on the TV and I see my chromecast id.
In the app on my phone, I see the Chromecast and I can click it to connect to it. It disables the Wifi for a second or two and then turns it on again. I wait for a few seconds and then this pops up:
"Could not connect to your Chromecast. Make sure your Chromecast is nearby." - It's barely a meter behind me.. and I've tried to have the phone just next to it, no difference.
I've tried to factory reset it. Unplug and replug. Reconnected to the wifi on my phone.
The router is brand new and a good one at that. I have a hard time believing that the issue lies within the Router. It's a Asus RT-N65U.
It's kind of dumb as well that one has to go to random forums to get help. Google doesn't even put a contact form anywhere on their Chromecast page.

The setup process doesn't involve your router or home network at all. The issue is either with your phone or the Chromecast itself. Try running the setup from a different device (I believe you can do it from a computer). If that doesn't work, the Chromecast is probably faulty.

Hi,
I bought two chromecasts and after flashing Eureka ROM, I cannot get connected anymore. :crying:
Firmware version: 22062
Before flashing I could use Wondershare DreamStream, and the chromecast app to cast movies to my television. Now I cannot get a connection to DreamStream and the app recognizes the chromecasts in device tab but streaming doesn't work.
What information do you need to help me?
Many thanks and best regards,
mark_14
Try to make a factory reset over the Chromecast app or the web interface of the Eureka ROM. Worked for me every time when something wasn't working.
I'm trying to cast my (Tab S2 9.7) screen to my Chromecast (v2). If I use the Google Cast app it sees my Chromecast, I choose the "cast screen/audio" option then get a warning that the device is not optimised, and when I continue nothing gets cast to the Chromecast - the tablet shows a "connecting to Chromecast" message which never goes away, and the TV/Chromecast screen remains blank.
If I use the Quick Connect option on the tablet it doesn't detect the Chromecast on the list of devices.
I'm running Android 6.0.1 (stock, unrooted).
Any ideas how I can cast to my Chromecast??
Google Cast works on my T810 using stock 6.0.1, so you must have a hardware problem. I'm assuming your connection to your router is OK from both your tablet and the Chromecast device because Google Cast sees the device. But to be sure, I'd re-install the Chromecast device on your network. If that fails, do you have another tablet you can use to test it? Or have you tried another HDMI port on the TV/Monitor? Or another TV? All I can say for sure is this isn't a general problem with MM on the T810 because I use it quite often.

Mine's an SM-T815. Anyone manage to Chromecast from one of these?
The Chromecast/TV setup seems fine - can cast from my phone no problem. Are you casting using the Google Cast app or the "Quick Connect" Samsung utility?

Samsung's Quick Connect connects via Bluetooth to transfer files. Google Cast connects via your wifi network and that's what I use. There is also a way to cast without a Chromecast device but I think that only works with Samsung Smart TVs.

Eh? According to this, Quick Connect uses Bluetooth OR Wifi to connect to devices including Chromecasts:

Maybe it's supposed to, but I just tried it and the only "nearby device" it found was "Samsung Cloud Print". Even with Bluetooth turned on. It doesn't even see my Desktop Computer, though it does show in my Bluetooth connections.
edit: I just had a chat with Samsung support and they are blaming Quick Connect not working on Google. Always the other guys fault.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe your Chromecast device is an older model?

Interesting....I tried casting to an old Chromecast v1 (in another room) and it worked fine. Then I tried casting to the Chromecast v2 again, and this time it worked. I hadn't tampered with the Chromecast v2 at all. So now it's working, but I have no idea why it wasn't working before....?????
Hi Guys, sorry to butt in here, but you may be able to help me with my new Tab S2 9.7 64G Lolipop 6.0 (I think its 6.0) that I got for my 70yo mum to play movies on her Sony 46" non smart tv with either the Google Chrome Cast or MiraCast. I purchased a few micro USB to HDMI MTH?2.0 adaptors, and non of them show an image on her screen. I don't want to go and buy the Samsung adaptor as its easier to change movies play and pause using VLC media player while sitting on the couch for her. Can any of you please tell me the easiest dongle I can buy to simply play movies wireless to the HDMI dongle in the back of the tv? Happy to go Google Chrome, but which model do I need? Thanks in advance guys!

The problem with HDMI/MHL dongles is that they are difficult to connect. Most of them will work if you have the patience to keep trying until the finally connect. But then, you are forced to leave your tablet within a few feet of the TV. I MUCH prefer a Chromecast dongle that plugs into the TV and uses your wifi to connect. Most TVs also have a USB port that you can use to power the dongle rather than having to plug a separate power adapter into a wall plug. Here is one on eBay that is only $17 whereas a "Google" branded one will cost about $40. You can even get cheaper ones if you are willing to ship from China.
The current software to mirror the tablet on the TV is "Google Home". But be warned, the picture is not "widescreen" or HD.

Absolutely go for Chromecast, the easiest and most reliable way to cast from any Android device to the TV.
Do NOT buy a cheap chromecast copy from Ebay, they do not work properly.
Pretty much everywhere is selling CHROMECAST very cheap at the moment in Black Friday promo deals.
Get it now while you can as the price will go back to normal soon!
What is your location?

Chromcast sounds like the go! Im in Perth - Western Australia.
If I update the VLC media player App will it work ok with Chromecast?
I have a chromecast hd that recently moved from my bedroom to the living and when I plugged it in and it try to transmit a content my chromecast appears duplicated in the list of available devices, I tried restoring the device to factory settings but it did not solve it
I am going to bump this thread because I also suffer from the same problem it happened with an older version Chromecast and I just bought the Chromecast with Google TV and still see double options. Does it work if you select either one? Mine does it doesn't matter which one I choose they both work but it's just a duplicate and I don't understand how to get rid of it anybody with any information would be greatly appreciated.
i think that it may be an issue on the device you're trying to cast from. im having the same issues on my xiaomi pad5. but my samsung flip 4 does not have duplicate casting options. Im also thinking it might be because the tablet supports miracast as well as chromecast and i think its reading the "castable devices" with both chromecast and miracast
