I somehow screwed up a flash and now I have no OS installed but I can boot to Safestrap recovery. Any ideas on how to get the OS loaded? I'm going to see if I have an micro SD to SD converter so I can load the OS there and try to flash via external SD. Is there another way? Thanks!

I think the way you mentioned is the best and only way. Good luck!
What ROM are you going to flash?

I had the same issue, and tried flashing multiple times via the external SD. Unfortunately, given that I got to your current situation by wiping everything but the external SD, it still wouldn't work. I flashed multiple times, but it always just said that it couldn't mount /data and /system. I ended up doing the MJ5 Restore found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
Trouble is, now I can't seem to get back to KK for the life of me....good luck!

I'm going through this entire guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712039
I don't seem to get stuck anywhere until the very end. After I've finished all steps, it just never boots past the Note 3 splash screen.
You need to odin four files to boot into kk, look into mr tropazr's thread it's thorough and informative.

Okay i will start from the top. I have a note 3 on at&t that i used towel to root with. I downloaded su, busybox, safestrap, etc. Long story short i didnt back up when i wiped everything and i cannot get safestrap to laod any new rom, it states there is no os on the device. I then tried to use odin to reflash to stock and i get the smd header check failed message. Any help would be appreciated, I have also tried the mj5 recovery found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715&highlight=rev+check+fail) with odin and get the SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 3 > Binary 2

Perhaps I am missing something I downloaded all 5 files from mega, what is the fith file for the one that says n900aucucnc2_n900attcnc2_n900aucucnc2_home.tar.md5? I know where to properly place the other 4 files but im not certain about that one.

The home file is all 4 files in 1. Just use the 4 individual files to install original NC2 firmware and wipe at the same time. Ignore the home file.

Yes that would be correct. Using the home file is like using all 4 files only the home file doesn't wipe before installing. It installs firmware like an ota update would. I thought using the 4 files would reset you, and give you a clean install.

see if you can fix it using the link in the above post if not let me know and I will back up my stock ATT KK 4.4.2 NC2 in safe strap after factory reset and I can send it to you. You can flash that and see if that works.
And what I understand is you started from stock 4.4.2 NC2 and than you towel root than installed SU and busybox and than installed the SS . After you went into SS, did you wipe the stock rom slot? Can you please explain in detail including each step so we know.
After a botched OTA update to Kitkat upon its release there was an error in the middle of the update which screwed the phone up drastically, so I found the "test version" of KitKat (N900AUCUCMLG)? and cant get to the official version N900AUCUCNC2.. I tried the update by downloading the zip and installing through safe mode but I get some kind of errors which ends up in the phone doing a clean install of the MLG firmware. any thoughts??
same here, but...
I can root and clean out the bloat ware, just can't install custom roms or make a nandroid back up, but really nuking the bloatware is a blessing in itself.

where I get stuck is at step 4 it reads like ODIN should complete the install but never does, did not pay attention to the 95% because I never got to the Heimdal step.
Step 4:
4) Now is the time to use Heimdall.
Reboot into Download Mode once Odin finishes. (ODIN never finishes for me, it always fails at the ODIN install)
Install the vcredist packages downloaded from step 1.
unzip the heimdall .zip file to c:/
go to c:/Heimdall Suite/Drivers and click on zadig.exe
click the middle menu button to select "Show All Devices"

Jerry I wish I could, however this stock software is just not quite right, good enough to root, but not much else. Trust me, I am a happy camper to get rid of the bloat, but at the same time would like to test drive these custom roms. Going to give the MJ5 fix one more try and maybe the 3rd time is the charm.
Thanks again, would have probably blushed over Heimdall 95% comment if successful the first time.......so now ready for it.

You will get the KNOX bootloader if you flash this.
YOU CANNOT UNDO THIS, ITS PERMANENT. FLASHING ANYTHING UNOFFICIAL AFTER FLASHING THIS TAR WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY
Just the NG2 FULL stock tar.
Do NOT rename the tar file. Even though it may be convenient to do so, Odin may fail the md5 check for no reason.
(L720VPUFNG2_L720SPTFNG2_L720VPUFNG2_HOME.tar.md5)
This is NOT ROOTED. Its the original TAR file for people who need an Emergency Recovery for their phones, and dont want to wait hours for it to download from slow file hosts.
Mediafire
Instructions:
1. Download and Extract tar above and download Odin
2. Put phone into download mode (power off, then power button + Volume Down, then volume up when prompted)
3. Open Odin (right click > open as administrator)
4. Load stock tar into the PDA slot
5. Start flashing
6. Grab some popcorn because it will take a while
7. Profit

You will need to re-root the phone after installing this file! Then you will be able to install a custom recovery..
Thanks for putting this on a speedy host. I just downloaded it tonight in under half an hour at my daughter's house, and she doesn't have a particularly fast internet connection.
A quick question - does this file leave your programs intact? Sometimes I like a total wipe (except for my SD card), and start fresh.
Thanks again

Problem now is I can make calls with the Walmart sim card, put in the APN settings but i am unable to remove the Hands Free Activation nagging.. Is there anyway to make it go away?

Have you tried to pull down the notification bar with two fingers > long press on Hands Free icon to see if something is turned on to make it show up on notification bar? If turned on, shut it off. Hopefully it is that simple. If not that simple, I have no clue how to make it stop. Maybe someone else does.
I haven't heard of anyone having that problem.
Yeah, I tried everything, it's part of the rom I think, nothing worked to make it go away..
I just went back to goldeneye rom, all working perfect again. Thanks.

Nope. it doesn't wipe data unless stated by the OP that it does. It only restores any apps deleted, or reverses any mods made. Example if you are running Aosp and Odin back to stock. You will get bootloop. After Odin always go to stock recovery and do a factory reset to have a clean install.

Wifi didn't work for me on this rom, coming from a custom mf9 rom. So I odin mf9 bootloader package, and then flashed stock mf9 odexed rooted rom, then odin the mf9 kernel. And did NG2 upgrade through Kies. Now Wi-Fi finally works for me but it's impossible to root. But at least now I got everything working, when I get off of work I can flash the OP version of NG2 cuz at least I could root that 1.

Just use Muniz_ri method then install the NCE flasher apk. Then it'll take you to SS, flash your new ROM or mods or whatever then just flash the OC4 kernel and you're back in the game.

Couldn't you just unzip the Twisted Lollipop ROM .zip file and replace the boot.img that they have with the stock OC4 one, re-zip it up and flash via FF?
Seems a lot simpler...
That's what I did @dorqus and flashed the kernel zip to be safe but after a couple fails found out it will not work unless your lollipop already had to Odin back twice lol but its running good so far 1st boot super long phone got to got for me rebooted and it updated 26 apps and started up fine

A lot simpler than just two flashes? First one when you open the app and it flashes the NCE for you and takes you to safestrap. And the second one is when you're done flashing whatever you want just flash the OC4 kernel and boot back up to your phone.
I've tried FF and it was more complicated for me. Also, not everyone knows how to replace the boot.img like you did. I guarantee you that a lot of don't even know what it is. LOL

Easy now. Lol. I'm still learning myself. I just extracted the OA1 boot loader that muniz uploaded for the "5.0 update and keep root" copied all that was in that folder and placed in the Twi5ted folder and removed the Twi5ted "boit.img" is that not what should be done? I haven't flashed yet.

Downloaded twi5ted v4, unzipped it and extracted the boot.img from the G900A_OC4_Stock_Rooted_Firmware.tar.md5 in the g900a update to 5.0 thread, and deleted the one in the rom zip and replaced it, and rezipped. Upon trying to load it into flashfire I got a crash as someone as the verification got to 100, I tried 4 times, all of them with the same java.lang.outofmemory error, which was confusing cause I have plenty of memory free. The exact process I did, was download the v4 zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3037766 then extract it with zarchiver, replaced the boot.img, then zipped it again with zarchiver, and the file size went from 1.25 gb to 1.26 gb. It seems strange this one fails to load but the stock lollipop tar which is double this one's size loads much faster and perfectly fine. If you want to give it a go, download the zip, reboot your phone (to clear out as much memory as possible) and then open flash fire and add the zip as a firmware package, as it won't even show up if you click "flash zip or ota", for me at least. As usual, I'm not responsible if you brick, and can't provide any assurance you won't since I haven't even been able to flash it in the first place.

where did you get the KitKat Kernel tar from to flash with Odin? Odin only accepts .tar files and the only KitKat kernel i've found was from @K-alz and that's a flashable zip.

When you use nice apk it automatically takes your kernel back down to kitkat...so I assume...after your in as and install your ROM..you use oc4 kernel through Odin...am I getting your question right?
Ok so, I kinda effed up. Originally my Play Store among other google services had been acting up and were unusable so I was troubleshooting for a fix. I tried everything except a factory reset, so of course I do that , but as I was reseting I also lost my root. It had been awhile since I rooted my phone so I followed the steps of the video I was watching. (How to Root Galaxy Note 5 on Android 6.0/6.0.1 Marshmallow!) He happens to reformat his phone in the video so I did as well, brainfarting on the fact that I would lose my backups. I start tinkering with stuff because after factory reset in the ROM I still have no access to any of the Google services. I deleted System and was gonna re-flash/use my backups (that I thought I had) to fix everything. Well, I tried downloading the stock firmware for my model but it's not flashable via Odin as it's in ZIP form, and when I attempt unzipping I get an error, tried firmware from multiple mirrors. So I tried running a custom ROM since there is a lot more support on that now. I tried the Nemesis_V3_N7-port first, it flashed succesfully, tried booting for a solid 30 minutes or so before I shut it down and tried a different rom. I think it was then or after I flashed the latest MOAR that I started bootlooping into TWRP.
Please help!! I can normally figure this stuff out once I break it, but I've been fixing this phone for the past 12 hours and have yet to find a solution.
So you wiped your phone and have no rom? so you can either bootloop, go into twrp or go into dl mode? Right?

Well I bootloop INTO recovery mode. It says the Seandroid Enforcing in the top left corner. I was previously rooted and it had always said that but I never experienced any issues with it

Ya. Ik it's a soft brick since I still have recovery options but I din't know where to go from here

you need to download the .tar file for your n920p. Then in odin click on ap and then click the .tar file. run and you should go back to stock. Then you can root again! Here yah go: https://devs-lab.com/how-to-unbrick-samsung-galaxy-note-5.html
In my experience you cant do anything in twrp to save you unless you made a nandroid back up or have an extra rom. Ive done this before and I had to odin the stock firmware

I tried downloading the firmware quite a few times, it doesn't let me extract it from it's zip. I just tried 7 Zip, 9Zip, and the windows built in unzipper. Would you try downloading and extracting to tell me if you have the same issue? It comes up with an error at about 17% saying it's missing a crucial file..

Thank you Spencer, really appreciate the help. I've tried a couple other links across other similar firmware flashing forums to no avail. So if you have a problem too, it's gotta be a batch of incomplete files.

okey dokey, I'm re-downloading and going to attempt with Winrar will come back to update in 30ish if it works.
I was so hyped, I thought it was gonna work. It got to 99% and then said:
C:\Users\Delerios\Downloads\N920PVPU2BPC3_N920PSPT2BPC3_SPR.zip: Checksum error in C:\Users\Delerios\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$DIa0.337\N920PVPU2BPC3_N920PSPT2BPC3_N920PVPU2BPC3_HOME.tar.md5. The file is corrupt
C:\Users\Delerios\Downloads\N920PVPU2BPC3_N920PSPT2BPC3_SPR.zip: The archive is corrupt
So I think I'm gonna try and find yet another page to download from. Did you download the version for N920P, or for the N920T you have?

That would be insane man, TY!! I've been hitting every forum I could looking for a download that worked for me. I wonder why I can't access it, I'm using Chrome/Windows 10. I was abouta to go see if it worked on my old laptop but I figured it was a long shot.

All you really need to do is re flash your twrp so it will re root the phone again! After you flash twrp you can easily use adb to push the files back to your phone. This is all I did to a phone I repaired.. You can even use fastboot flash Your920PFirmware.tar..

One thing after another... So I attempted flashing and I got the "Pit for mapping" error. I looked up my Pit file and put it into odin but I'm still getting the problem. Tried wiping the Cache and Dalvik + Factory Reset but nada. Any ideas?

Dang. Hey man appreciate all your help, thank you for the file. I'll post the solution when I figure all this out in case there's another poor soul in the same boat
I FIXED IT. It was my computer, I don't know what it was and I don't care lol. But I tried the correct firmware through Odin on my other Windows PC and it worked flawlessly. If anybody runs into any issues unzipping or flashing through Odin, last resort just clean install on the pc or find another one.
