I'm CF rooted w/ X-posed on ANJ7 and I want to move to the new K firmware.
Also, I have a 128mb T-Mo update that I have postponed. Not sure what it is.
What is the best way to accept the update? Is that the K firmware?
How to move to ANK firmware without issues?
I see the Root thread has been updated but I'm not seeing (or understanding) how to go from J to K firmware on an already rooted phone.
The fingerprint scanner issue worries me too. Could use some advice.
How do I take the update without screwing up the phone?
TIA
Just flash ank. I'll show you

Thanks, that's the thread I was referring to. Just some stuff I don't understand.
I think they're gonna force feed this update anyway.
Can I unroot and accept the update as an OTA? Or is Odin flashing required?
Is the 128mb update the new K firmware?
What happens if I accept it as is?

Hello all,
I recently unlocked my bootloader and installed 4.4.2, took the OTA to 4.4.4 and installed TWRP and rooted my AT&T Moto X. My question is, since there doesn't appear to be an AT&T 4.4.4 sbf, how can we install the stock recovery so we can upgrade to Android L when it becomes available?
Thanks
Adam
You'll probably need to wait for the SBF to be released. Or wait for the L SBF and just flash it manually. ?
---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:08 PM ----------
Also, it's going to probably be awhile yet until you see the L OTA... So no rush.

As anything, flash at your own risk.
I find it funny tho that the rogers 4.4.4 file came out before the OTA. Seems strange to me. :good:

I have the update available as well, it auto downloaded when I hit check for update so be aware.
Mine JUST started! Glad I caught it during download and shut the phone off. Just rooted yesterday and I'll be pissed if I lose it! lol. Hopped on so I could find what needed frozen in TiBu to stop it.

Opposite here. I took the update and want to root. According to the root thread, OE2 can be rooted so I should be good. We'll see.
So do I have to Odin back to stock? I really don't wanna do that!
Anyone know whats new?? :\

I don't know of any other options for you at the moment.
My S6 Edge is rooted and I can update if I want. If you want to update go to Software Update and do it.

Anyone else confirm? I've frozen my ATT software update in TB and I'm not on wifi right now. Don't want to use the data.
Let us know if you have root once you updated or if you can still root your phone.
You can't update OTA if you have root!

I'm not sure that this is very accurate. You may be able to download the update, but installing it is a whole different thing.

You can't root if you've installed the update either. I'm going to see if I can Odin back. Doubt it, but worth a shot.

Are you saying that you're rooted and that you simply have the ability to update but haven't taken the OTA? Or you've verified that your phone is rooted, taken this OTA and your phone is working fine? I didn't think you could take the OTA rooted.

It appears so. When I attempt to run the exploit, I'm notified that my device isn't supported yet. I'm not too worried as the team seems to be chewing through devices and updates at a cyclic rate.
So... most important thing to know here that nobody has mentioned...
How do you prevent it from updating if you're not rooted? Or is the answer to this question still "root the device" -_-

This is just my opinion, and since everyone has one, take it for what you will, but I've frozen the AT&T Software Update because assuming Samsung patches the root in the next update and sends it to the carriers to distribute, do you really want to do everything you can to get the next update even if you lose root?
Personally, I've done everything I could to get root, even if this cost me Samsung Pay which hopefully it won't, because someone smart enough on here will figure out how to patch the update with a ROM that we can flash later.....
Obviously that won't work right this second since we can't flash anything but Smart Switch / Odin stock junk, but assuming Safestrap or similar gets released, you can keep your bootloader lock all you want ATT, we'll just flash what we want over it!

Haha, looks like I was updating my post at the same time you were posting.
What I was actually looking for was a way to do it without rooting seeing as we still have no confirmation regarding Samsung Pay functionality and root breaking it. At some point in the near future in my career, things like Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, etc are going to become useful so I need to have mine handy.
Hi!
I have a big big problem!
I have updated my S5 AT&T from (G900A) Stock 4.4.2 to 5.0 through ODIN. after noticing that the phone battery was draining very fast, i decided to downgrade again to 4.4.2 Stock rom.
For example i been follow this instructions of muniz_ri user. (With both wipes after the downgrade)
.But... after the downgrade, the cellphone starts very very slow (some kind of lag for a couple of minutes after android starts).
.The battery drains no so fast like Lollipop but still draining more than Kitkat.
. And Antutu Benchmark, show a very low score: Around 22.000 (on kitkat was 37853 for example).
Someone can help me?
Thanks! and i sorry for my bad english...

You must be rooted in order to use the flash fire. If your not already rooted you will need to download towelroot.com. download and install it. If it says your version is not supported then you'll need to downgrade to nce and then root. Then you'll be able to use flash fire to flash the stock rooted rom that i posted earlier.

Cheetah Mobile Security?
BOO Asus!
Please do not preload Cheetah Mobile software or at the very least make it fully removable. Many of your customers hate their apps, so please do not torture us with their presence as system apps.
Personally, I did not know that CM apps would be preloaded, and had I known, I very well may have gone with a competitor. I think you've done very well with your Zenfone line's hardware and pricing. If you reconsidered some your business relationships *cough cheetah mobile* and put some real focus on improving ZenUI, I believe you would truly be doing something great with Android.
Keep up the good work. The development community and your customers appreciate it.

On the bright side, the phone seems to be much more responsive now. The Wi-Fi and cellular network bars are always full (was about 2 bars before the update). I have not tested the sound yet, but going by the keyboard sounds, it does seem to be louder than usual.
