Hello, I've recently flashed stock rom over lollipop (which bootlooped after I stupidly upgraded supersu thru google play).
I've followed every step except locking the bootloader from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/restore-to-stock-t2873657
But it still won't work.
I've done this procedure before and it has worked, but now it's not. What can I do to fix this?

pretty sure you can only lock 4.4.4 version of bootloader , so if you have upgraded to lollipop boot loader you cant relock or downgrade, even though you can reflash back a 4.4.4 rom with enough parts of that rom for it to work as a 4.4.4 rom.

If you have an unlocked boot loader you can get back to stock with shawn1526s tool

Guys,
My HTC ONE Google Play Edition received the 4.3 update notification, but when I tried, it gave me a status 7 error and refused to install the update. How can I solve this? I'm using stock kernel, CWM recovery, and it's rooted.
Thanks a lot.

you need stock (gpe) recovery and maybe temp unroot (with supersu)

Thanks for reply!! May I know how I can restore both the recovery and ROM to the default one? Should I follow this?

You have to flash only the stock recovery and relock the bootloader
And yes, use that guide.
After the update will be installed

Thanks guy!! I will check the post thoroughly later. However, just one more quick question. Since my device is an original GPE, it looks like all I have to do will be just a fastboot flash recovery & fastboot oem relock? Seems like from that guide, most steps prior to these commands are needed to turn a normal HTC ONE into a GPE one. Am I understanding correctly here?
Thanks again.
Relocking boot loader not necessary. My boot loader is unlocked.

Is better if the relock isn't necessary
Guys, thanks for you guys help. I've stocked it back to stock recovery, and have the bootloader locked back. Now when I start the phone, the little lock isn't shown anymore. However, I'm still having 2 issues here.
1) The 4.3 update isn't there anymore!! It doesn't come back even I did a clear cache/force close on the Google Services Framework.
2) It's still showing my phone is still tampered. I booted into the recovery, and it's now the stock one. Is that normal?
Thanks.
Normal because you're rooted
Thanks guy!! I could upgrade successfully.
I was trying to flash a new ROM (Viper One) and followed the instructions to update the firmware. I got as far as getting into the fastboot and relocking the device so I could update the firmware to the latest version (per the instructions). I tried to no avail to unlock the bootloader and came across a thread saying I need to have a stock kernel to unlock the bootloader again. What I didnt count on was that the previous custom kernel was still loaded on the device even though I did a factory reset (again per instructions). I have searched for a stock 4.3 kernel but cant find one so I can finish this.
Ideas?
Thanks so much, in advance!

I was able to get my phone back to where it was before (viperOne ROM thats running v 4.1.2 and Sense 5.0). I am trying to get this back to stock before I take to Sprint to replace the phone for the purple camera bug.
I guess what Im looking for is the stock kernel for v4.1.2 so I can then flash it and take it in. The one you had linked to was for v4.4.x and will not work.
Thanks in advance!

Since, I don't know which version you are looking for you can pull the kernel out of the firmware for that version. You can check this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2576995 or this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658910.
Hello, I have upgraded to 5.0.2. via OTA a few days ago. My phone was RetEU .23, and the update notification that 5.0.2. became so annoying, so I decided to give it a shot. Lollipop is a disappointment for me, battery drain issues, lagging all over the menus, slow dialer, the phone was running better with KK installed, so I want to return back to 4.4.4.
Unfortunately there is no clear opinion whether this could be done, some say that when you have 5.0.2. bootloader installed with the OTA, you cannot go back, others say that it is no problem to do so. Really confusing.
Anyone tried to go back to 4.4.4. after getting the OTA? Could you please share how did you do so? Unlocking the bootloader and flashing one of the 4.4.4 stock ROMs from the General Section?

Hello,
i actually switched from 5.0.2 back to KK 4.4.4 from Pizza_dox
when your bootloader is unlocked and you have TWRP installed
follow these instructions
1, go do a factory reset
2, go to advanced wipe and select :dalvik cache/system/data/internal storage/cache
when you did that there is no system on your phone so when you restart you will be going into an endless bootloop.
3, go press install and select the Microkat.zip file from Pizza_Dox
when that is done you have agian kitkat on your device
i think there some other methods but this is how i did it succesfully.
Also dont forget to make a backup because you will lose everything.

Thanks for your comment. I actually plan to go back to the stock 4.4.4. I have a basic idea of bootloader and things but not deep into this and have never done it before. From what I have read , I will have to:
1. First I need to unlock the bootloader, as per the instructions in the Moto website.
2. Then I will need to do a factory reset. (settings-secuirity-factory reset or some other way of doing this?)
3. Download 4.4.4 firmware + script.
4. Start up with Power+VolDown buttons and have bootloader menu on screen
5. Run the downloaded script from its .bat file.
6. Wait for some time for the flashing to end, then have stock 4.4.4
Please correct me if something is wrong or missed.

What i did...
Download the correct kk stock rom
Setup my drivers and mfastboot correctly (simple fast boot works too)
Unlocked bootloader. (Voids warranty coz gives bootloader status 3)
Reboot in bootloader now...
Flash all files of kitkat except gpt.bin and motoboot.bin (they never flash for me lol )
Flash all other files (i typed filenames manually)
Fastboot reboot
Ps - no matter what i do..i have not been able to lock my bootloader once i downgraded from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4
Locking bootloader works well on 5.0.2

well guess im gonna try - but no need to do, as makes no difference except to downgrading.... So best off unlocked
simply use the 4.4.4 link in my signature and pick firmware 2 or B called DSDSALL to go back to 4.4.4 .23 ret(xx)
So, it has been confirmed by several forums that when you have officially received the 5.0.2 OTA download update, you cannot go back to KK.
It has something to do with the new L bootloader. I guess that there is no way of doing this, up to now at least. Don't know if someone has tried and succeeded.
When you have flashed the 5.0.2. OTA however, you can have KK installed back, as most of the users on xda.

Hi guys I have the latest firmware installed ( see screenshot) whenever I try to obtain root via chain fires autoroot or through custom kernel for n9208 my phone gets stuck at bootloader. Is there any way to fix this.
Ps the crom services app always force closes . And I followed every step on root tutorials
Hi, i got same problem with new firmware update, lost my root and tried to root again with chainfire autoroot, but didnt work, tried a couple of times...no luck, at this step i still can boot android, then tried flash xiaolu kernel...at this step i got boot loop, both space kernel also failed to boot, so if you havent flash any kernel with odin, you still can boot after flashing twrp recovery, but if you already messed with kernel, there no way to to fix it...better flassh new firmware, and use stock until someone can find a way to root 5.1.1, hope its help...

Isn't there a way we can simply downgrade to the last rootable firmware?
if you're on the latest firmware, i recall having to install the AOK2 bootloader to root my N9208 using the original root methods (not the Systemlesss Root method). check the TWRP thread for details. The situation may have changed, but when i upgraded my firmware to AOL1, i had to downgrade the bootloader to AOK2 to regain root.

How did you downgraded your boot loader? I am sorry but I'm really new to galaxy development.
PS is it safe to flash a firmware from December over my current version which is from march

check the TWRP thread for details and links to downgrade the bootloader. please note/remember, i downgraded from AOL1 to AOK2. not sure if this works with any firmware newer than AOL1. in my case, i reflashed the AOL1 firmware, then downgraded/flashed the AOK2 bootloader and then rooted using the original 9208 root method.

Hi everyone,
Noticed today, there was a system update prompt on my Moto G 2nd gen XT1064. The update is 24.201.4.en.US. Of course I can't install it, because I'm rooted and unlocked. So I went about the procedure of flashing the stock Lollipop image, and relocking the boat loader, so I can get the update. No matter what I try, I can't seem to re-lock the bootloader. I tried the stock Lollipop image, it flashes fine, but when I go to relock the bootloader, I keep getting the error, image not properly signed. I tried this command "mfastboot oem lock" nothing works. I was able to flash TWRP recovery, and load my 6.0 image back up. So I'm back to where I was, but I would like to get the security update. Can someone recommend the best procedure for getting it?
Thanks much!

just flash stock 6.0 firmware, search on the general thread, it will flash stock 6.0 along with stock recovery, there is no problem if you have unlocked bootloader, you only need stock rom, stock recovery and non-rooted

As your bootloader is updated to 48.86 you cannot downgrade to lollipop and relock the bootloader.Only way to relock is to flash marshamallow update.then you can relock the bootloader
