So, I've had this Moto X for about six months. So far, its been a great phone. It is on Verizon, it is NOT a developer edition, it is NOT boot loader unlocked/rooted. Its on stock 4.4.4.
Its still under factory warranty, but I'm not sure I need it. What's happening is very odd. Most times, the camera will say its busy and that if this continues to happen that I should reboot my phone. This will not often work. After that, one of two things will happen:
1. "Camera is busy. Reboot phone. Yada yada yada."
2. Only the front camera works. The button for switching to the back camera is completely missing.
When #2 happens, it will work like that indefinitely until I reboot the phone. Then its a "pray at least the front camera works" situation.
Things I've done to fix it:
-Deleted all 3rd party camera apps. (QR scanners, etc...)
-Force quit camera, uninstalled updates, cleared caches, etc.
-Factory reset
Even after a factory reset (in Android, not through the boot loader), its still happening. Is my camera shot, and I need to RMA the device, or is there something else I can try?
Thanks!
Also, mods: I apologize. I have forum stickies/announcements disabled in Tapatalk. I just got to a computer and read the "QUESTIONS BELONG IN THE Q & A FORUM!" thread. Can ya move it for me, please? (FWIW: stickies/announcements will now be enabled in Tapatalk!)

I had my BL unlocked (att) and I had to do an RMA. Needless to say, Motorola did not say anything about the BL being cracked into. I consider myself to be lucky. I started having problems with the camera, after I flashed a CM ROM.
That makes me feel a lot better about RMAing the phone. Its not BL unlocked, but I did wonder about water damage.
Would that cause the camera to work sporadically? It never got wet, but I do use it to play music while I'm in the shower.
Update: I RMA'd the device. It went back on December 31st, via overnight FedEX. As it was on a holiday, I don't expect to hear from Motorola until Monday.
If they find water in it.... You could be in trouble. Unless you got extended coverage?
Update: They found that the camera was indeed messed up and have shipped me a new phone. Its supposed to be here tomorrow.
Added update: Phone received. It shipped with 4.4.2. I unlocked the boot loader with Sunshine. About to flash custom recovery and then a new ROM!
I often had this issue.
Uninstalled all updates of the Camera app.
Then updated to the latest one in Play Store.
It's all good now
Sent from my SM-N9005
I had this problem. Tried factory reset, clearing data, etc etc... Motorola Moto E 2nd gen LTE 4g
Nothing worked...
I fixed it...
How?
By actuallt TAPPING with my finger in the lens firmly, but gently, about three times.
After that, started the camera app (with no reboot, no clearing data, nothing)
Worked (and it is still working) like a charm...
So it is a Motorola issue with their camera build in the frame. Hopefully the "ogre" solution may help you....

Hello,
Recently I sent my nexus one for a button replacement. I got the phone back with some strange symptoms:
- Flash light blink at random event (first boot, after I hang up a call, etc..) but cannot be controlled by software (torch and camera app in CM7, MIUI or the stock firmware). The camera however works fine.
- The ambient sensor is dead. It either reports a very high value (2600 or 5800) or a very low one (10) (these values were taken from the CM7 auto brightness adjustment settings)
- Mic from the headphone when I plug in does not work anymore (the mic works before and tested to be in working condition)
From some online research, it seems like a loose connector can cause the wonky flash light problem (report by fblodroid, he fixed it by plug the connector back)
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=46ef1e3a49030ed9&hl=en
My question is: can the other two problems be related to this connectors as well? Or did I get a defective board?
I plan to fix it once the tools arrives (dealextreme takes forever!). Another option is to bring it back to the service center to get fixed (this will take a week, and who knows what kind of fees on top of that). I'd prefer to fix it if I can.
Anyone has some knowledge about this kind of issue? Any idea what do those connectors do?

Dude, if your N1 is on warranty I wouldn't even bother to think what is causing this problems Send it back. You'd have o wait some time but you will still have your warranty for the future, and if you disassemble it you will probably loose it (not mentioning that your problem could be unfixable!).
They screwed up and they should fix it for free. I hate when electronics come back in worse condition after repair than before...
Well, it's out of warranty. But I think I have 3 months part warranty from the last repair.
They didn't put any seal on the screws this time. Maybe you're right, it's smarter to just send it back to get everything resolved.
I'm just curious whether all the problem described above can be attributed to the board they replaced (or one or two loose connectors).

I didn't know about the warranty, BUT: They spoiled your phone while fixing button so as a consumer you have right to demand that they fix it free of charge! Maybe it's something like silicon defect or "cold solder" (don't now if it's correct name. Google-Translated it) on the main board. They should have tried it before sending it to you.
Wish your N1 will get better soon
Hi you all!
Has the title says, sometimes a white glitch in the top appears, normally after a charge overnight just after I disconnect the device from charging. The problem in my urbane appeared after a forced update by adb sideload, don't know if it's due to that but I'm not sure until I hear other persons that made the same thing, adb sideload of course.
Anyway I'll probably gonna take it to warranty, cause I'm afraid it might be an hardware issue... :crying:
When I have some kind of an answer I'll give the feedback.
Already posted something similar in other thread ( " I've already done everything to the watch, unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP and also pushed by adb sideload the new version of Android wear, the bass version one (LCA44B) and all went fine.
Although I will going to take the Smartwatch to warranty, cause lately, not always, he's been doing a strange thing... After fully charged, the screen in top center, starts to blink (of White color), kind of a flat-tire inverted really strong like a flash! Obviously it's a glitch of some kind that affects the screen... Even with a reboot, he keeps doing it while booting... Lucky of me... Damned...")
The unique solution I've found was to switch of the device, not reboot, I must switch of the device or else it keeps doing it...
It only happened two times... But... Its f****d...
Edit. Posting some pics in a while...
Sorry by taking too long but here are the photos and video....
Still had the time to take it to the store were I bought it due to work shifts and free time to do so...

@Teleti For now, due to my work(day of), time to do so and distance from the store, I still didn't had the opportunity to go there... But when I have some kind of answer I'll post it immediately.
@pgregg exactly like that! But not persistent, after some time it varnishes...

Yes, mine was very intermittent. It first happened after landing on a long flight... figured it was an air-pressure thing... it went away.
It was then intermittent / infrequent over the next month but last week it suddenly got a lot worse, and more frequent (i.e. all the time).
New video:
Contacted Amazon, and had a replacement delivered yesterday - so I've swapped it out for a new one - so far so good

First post updated...
Common issue on LG Watch. Few thread on LG R section.
So a couple of days back I was updating my apps from Play Store over WiFi and after that I tried to check the Amazon Appstore app for updates. Everything went normally but after the completion of the update check process my screen started displaying artifacts, somewhat like this as it happened to a Moto X 2014 user, mine is a 2013
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59982007&postcount=12
then after a while the whole screen turned to this;
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

The touchscreen was working though so I was able to turn the device off by tapping in the center of the screen at the position the 'Power off' prompt usually appears but on restart the same damn thing. This pixellated artifact display was even showing in the boot up screen and then the screen stayed on until the power button was tapped to turn it off. I even checked the power off charging screen and it was the same, so I left the device off for the night, planning to take it to a service center the next day.
The next day when I turned the device on it was the same pixellated screen so I proceeded to do a remote wipe from Android Device Manager portal since the device already had Wifi on but then suddenly the display came back, just like that. I was unable to recreate the issue by following the same steps as it happened the first time. I have only like a month remaining in my warranty period and with my luck it will surely resurface after the warranty is over.
So my question is, is there any way to find out if this is a hardware or a software issue? Someone on that other thread I linked said something about a qcom bug in the adreno drivers,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59986742&postcount=15
so could this be a result of that bug? My Moto X (2013) is on stock 5.1 and is running quite smoothly after a couple FDRs. If this is in fact a software bug, would it persist after a shutdown/reset? A question of overheating can also be ruled out since the device was left switched off overnight and there was no change in the display after turning it on the following morning. Then how did the display restore itself after the device was left on for some time? Was it an internal process involving the graphics subsystems that somehow crashed the adreno driver and was reset after completion? I also made a post on the official Motorola forums but unfortunately nothing helpful there either. https://forums.motorola.com/posts/f371030235
This whole thing is really spooky so if anyone is able to throw any light into this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi! My Galaxy Note 9 has recently started having a really strange issue.
When I press the power button and unlock it using my fingerprint, I can clearly hear the phone unlocking, but my screen stays perfectly black. When I press the power button again, it makes the stock "locking" noise that it makes. The little click.
If I don't relock the phone, it still can be used! I can actually click icons, accidentally send texts, etc. but no image....
Here's where it gets weird.
If I tap the screen two to four times and THEN press the power button, my screen turns on! I'm then able to use the phone like normal. Crazy!
However, for whatever reason I cannot use this trick when I get a phone call. So I just have to call people back.
Has anyone experienced this before? Do you have any tips to fix the problem? I have already tried restarting the phone, and powering it off and turning it back on. My last resort is a factory reset.
Welcome to XDA
May be a rootkit. If your running anything lower than Android 9, a factory reset may not purge it ie X-helper. The longer you wait the more damage malware can potentially do.
Delete Google account from phone and...
Nuke it, then reset your Google account password after factory reset.
If it persists, reflash rom. If it still persists it's hardware.
Two days ago I did click a link in a spam ad. And then yesterday the problem kicked in, so your suggestion has some pretty strong credibility in my mind. I'll take the actions you recommend. Thank you!
Maybe go with Brave browser in the future and add this modification to the new load. It globally blocks ads and some of the worst sites as well.

Hey guys,
I am back to the real OG forums of Android after spending a few good years with iOS devices. Ngl, missed this place a lot!
So I have been using a Pixel 4a (5G) for 2-3 weeks now, and everything was perfect until the May security update 2 days ago. Although, previously, there were a couple of touch screen issues observed by many anyway, a friend too who uses the same phone, same variant g025-e and we used to observe extremely **** typing experience while charging our phones, until this update, literally destroyed the whole experience for me specifically, and not my friend.
This update was about 16.9 mb and on the night of 1st of May, I put my phone to update and slept, within hours it was released. The next morning my frustration begins. There is a part of my screen, specifically between the app dock and home screen separator that doesn't work anymore. There is absolutely no damage to the phone, neither have I dropped it or anything. The whole "asd" row on my qwerty keyboard barely works. Tapping the letters on that row a million times might register a touch magically, but you get my point, its just extremely frustrating.
Furious, I immediately took it to Pixel Community (Pixel Community Post here) and I haven't received a reply there yet. I took it to Reddit (Reddit post here), and there isn't any help either.
I have run a couple of tests on my phone testing my screen, and to my surprise multi-touch isn't working either (I can't zoom into photos, can't use maps or anything for that matter) and my phone only detects one finger. Attaching screenshots below where you can see touch break (there is no point of posting multi-touch test here, it can only show its detecting 1 finger, and that also breaks in the area shown below):

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
As last resort, I have also tried removing my screen protector, playing with the screen-protector mode in the display settings but in vain.
Now I am thinking something definitely went wrong while my phone installed the update, and thinking of a full fresh flash of the Software after unlocking the bootloader. Please suggest what to do. Hoping for positive replies. I am not doubting the hardware because my phone just stopped working right after the update, even though the new update suited my friend's phone just fine.

Oh damn I'm sorry its that much for you mate. Did it happen after the update or just randomly?
the day I updated the phone, the touch screen started to not answer again on the top and then the problem is repeated gradually on the rest of the screen. I just made a factory rest, the touch screen no longer works, I will change the screen .
