hi!
my xperia z bootloader is locked and can be unlocked, i'm still on stock rom 4.1.2.
i'm planning to get root and install a recovery, but keep the bootloader locked. will it then be possible to receive sony's offical jb 4.2.2 update when rooted and recovery installed? i know that once the update 4.2.2. is installed i will have to re-root.
thanks

Yes you will get notification of new official updates if you are rooted

Thanks for your reply.
But will it install? Just a notification would be useless...
Or will I have to get the update somewhere here on xda and flash it manually?
It installs, and overwrites your root. For now that's not an issue, but when 5.0 comes out it might not be possible to get root again due to SELinux being implemented.
Yes exactly as Tom mentioned, it will happy install from PC Companion straight over top, then you just need to re-root again.
4.2.2 would be nice first Tom
Hello guys! I had updated to 4.3 by this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467607. And all is ok, but i was able to flash firmware, only when i made my phone s-off. My phone was ViperROM, it has unlocked bootloader and root, but it was imposible to flash firmware without S-OFF. So, if you want it - you should make s-off (i tried firmware for s-off and for s-on, and i got failure any time).
Also, you should get TWRP 2.6.3.0, if you don't - touch screen will not be working. After flashing i didn't lose anithing (my data, programms and info was installed and not damaged). So thanks everybody!
I can't write in that forum, and because of this i made this theme.
Hello, few days ago I bought an HTC Developer Edition (64GB). Came with Android 4.1.2 and came Unroot. So, because I need to use Titanium Backup I root it and I installed Clockworkmod recovery 6.0.4.4 and then Superuser to root it. The problem is that now I cant make OTA updates (errors when try to update), so my questions are: how can I make OTA updates without errors? Need to install a Stock Recovery again? Where I can find it?
Thanks in advanced!

You need the stock rom without root and the recovery stock for your version main.
After you can apply the OTA
But if you have the Dev Edition, this ruu can help you

This ruu will erase all data (also the sd) from your phone and it will upgrade your phone as stock, with stock rom, recovery, firmware etc.

You must relock bootloader and flash original recovery.img
You can find both in this forum

I did it by flashing stock recovery. The bootloader can be unlocked.
I also removed the root binary(you have the option in super su - full unroot). Then I reflashed twrp.
Good luck.
Hi,
I've got an M7 with a stock 4.3 ROM with root, and CWM 6036 installed. Can I install straight to Lollipop without wiping (stock ROM via update.zip), or should I update to KK first?
I'm planning on updating to the latest CWM beforehand.
Cheers, appreciate any advice.

You'll either have to restore you phone to stock rom and stock recovery and take the ota update or you can flash the latest ruu which will update your phone and wipe everything. Lollipop RUUs are available in the general section.
