[Q] Moto G 2014 Dual ringtone - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I want to buy a Moto G Dual (2nd gen). The main problem is that I don't know if I can set different ringtone for the sim cards. Can someone tell me if it is possible? (Now I'm using a WP8.1 dual sim phone, there is an option for that but because a system bug it doesn't work... )

No option in stock. Can get different types of dual sim ring tone apps in play store.

Bypass activation

Anyone know how to bypass activation screen without a sim?

Have you tried getting to the emergency dialer, and entering
*#83786633 then press send?
Let us know if it works please.
Which model Moto X do you have? I had fully setup my phone and bought apps from the play store before I even put a sim in my Moto X (XT1058 from Rogers)

Same here with my VZW XT 1060. Skipped everything and used it like a tablet into I had it set up before inserting the SIM card.
Didn't try it with my Moto X, but with my Droid Razr Maxx I could tap the four corners of the screen in order a few times starting with the upper left to exit the activation screen.
So start by tapping the top left corner, then top right, then bottom right then bottom left. Not sure how exact you need to be, but it usually took me 2-3 times to get it to work.
No problem setting up my phone without a SIM either (Developer Edition)

[Q] WP 8.1 dual sim function

hi guys
i saw the review of nokia lumia 630 dual sim (passiv dual sim. only one sender/receiver built in)
plus i saw that my nokia lumia 920 just received an sw update regarding "being able to handle dual sim.." (net+).
=> so i wonder if it would be possible to change any lumia into a dual sim phone by using one of those dual sim adapters.
(of course you can use these adapters since ever but you have to switch between the sims manually)
would that work?

[Q] Moto G Custom ROM Mic problem

Have tried installing 6 different roms today
The Problems are
1) With the titan prime rom, my sim card is not connecting to the network.
2) The DU rom is not detecting the sim card and the sim card sliders are greyed out.
3) Blisspop and Resurrection are working on the sim card part but (this is the main problem) when i use the phone dialler, the mic barely picks my voice and i have to shout at the mic so that the other person can hear me. The sound recorder is not picking up my voice either. Whereas, whatsapp calls and messenger calls are picking my voice up perfectly fine and the other person can hear me perfectly while i am talking at a normal level. Google now can hear me properly as well.
I NEED HELP.
You are clean flashing these roms aren't you? I don't see what model of Moto you have but if it's a dual sim you need to flash the dual Sim Addon with Titan.

its an xt1068.
Do i need to flash the dual sim thing even if i am using just 1 slot? I saw the forum post. It said that the sim thing only needs to flashed only with the older version of the rom.

[Q] Scheduling Dual SIM Usage

I've just got the dual sim version of the Moto G and one sim is my personal number and the other work.
What I want to try and do is schedule when the work SIM is active so say 9 - 5 Monday to Friday, is there anyway of automating this currently?
Thanks
Jon
Don´t thinks so. The only thing that can do almost anything is tasker and I´ve never seen any dual sim configurations in there. Maybe there´s an app in playstore that can handle that.
Mabe there is something similar or alike:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.mobimentum.dualsimwidget&hl=de
Can schedule an alarm that reminds you to enable or disable work SIM at scheduled times .
Thanks for this, unfortunately the app doesn't support the Moto G.
I think tasker could do the trick but I'm just a noob using tasker

Moto Z3 Play Dual Sim

I purchased a Moto Z3 Play unlocked version from best buy a few months back. I was wondering does anyone know if this version has the hardware already inside for the dual sim tray and it would just be an issue with finding a dual sim tray that would fix in the phone?
I have the same question, for such a nice phone, it is pretty dead in this area of the forum.
I noticed there is a disabled app in the phone called "Dual Sim Settings"
The XT1929-6 variant is a dual sim, while mine the XT1929-4 is sold as a single sim phone.
I would think if it has the hardware for dual sim, the XT1929-6 sim tray would work?
I have verified yes it does have dual sim hardware.
You can get the sim holder here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-Sim-C...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
I tried this mod, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75790699&postcount=713
I was able to have the phone see both sims and the phone numbers, a Verizon Sim, and Google Fi sim. Only problem is that I had no sound at my end, or the person I called end.
Looks like a worthy project that needs some work.
Developers, I would gladly pay to have this feature working. :good:
Sweet, thanks for the information. I have sense moved to Japan where they sell the Moto Z3 play that comes with dual SIM card. Where I am using both Google fi and Japan mobile provider.
I do have issues calling out some times, and can't hear anyone on the other side but they can hear me. I am waiting for the pie update you see if it fixes any issues with dual SIM.
Besides that I use Google fi pretty much only for data, and my Japanese number for voice which works perfect.
I really do love this phone and it's probably the best phone I have ever owned.
I am thinking it is not possible to have 2 google fi sims, because you need an app with the email attached to the phone number, and can only be logged into one email at a time. Once I decide that Google Fi is good enough for my rural area, I can get rid of Verizon, and get a real dual sim phone, and us Fi and a GSM carrier.
:good:
