So this could possibly gonna go in the general Q&A but i'll throw it in here and if it needs to be moved it can. So i got my moto x today from the cybermonday sale and everything went well got the sim card activated from verizon. Booted phone up signed in to google account and my signal got full bars but dropped in and out 2x in the first 2 minutes i had it on for whatever reason. During those two minutes it was trying to install all my apps as well as sync everything else and since the connection dropped i got like 100 notifications saying X app failed to update / install and it also started auto downloading 4.4(Kit Kat) and when that finished i just went ahead and installed it. So of course when it finished installing 4.4 it didnt go back to trying to reinstall all my previous apps. Is there a way to force the play store to try this again or should i just do a factory reset and start over and make sure all the apps get installed before updating to 4.4?
Thanks in advance for any help

I think removing and re-adding your google account should retrigger that step.

Or do a factory reset and start over from scratch???
well good thought but i already did the factory reset and it didn't trigger it again(who knows, if anyone does i'd love to know why) but when i re-logged in after FDR it didn't even sync my wifi passwords/wallpaper when i originally signed in for the first time. so who knows. im sure theres a reason behind it not doing these things but w/e
Hi all. I did a search but couldn't find a clear answer to this particular question. If it's out there I would appreciate if you could throw me a link.
I just received a replacement Moto X for my current unit which has a bad camera. Both were created using Motomaker if that makes a difference.
I've got the new phone activated and used Migrate to move the basic stuff, but I can't seem to find a way to move the majority of my apps to the new phone (I've used Titanium Backup previously but I guess that's not an option here as both have 4.4.2) and I've got quite a few programs that contain settings and data that I really don't want to lose or have to recreate from scratch.
Is there a program that would allow me to move the bulk of my current apps and the related data to the new phone relatively easily or should I just start the copy/paste bucket brigade via USB and my computer?
Edit: I'm also open to using adb and a nandroid backup if that's a possibility, but I would appreciate pointers to instructions if they exist. Thanks.
Does Google back up work, when I switched from my HTC to my MotoX, everything went across including wifi locations.
It should be in your menu, you are actually backing up your Google account and it restores data on any device that you sign in on.

It doesn't appear to be working as advertised. I've installed the same apps that were on my original phone and none of them had the same configuration or data on the new phone. I've even tried removing apps from the new phone and forcing a sync on the old phone, then reinstalling on the new phone about a half hour later to see if that might help but have had no better results.

Is it working properly with the Moto X now? I've seen quite a few reports of it failing on Motorola phones and the Play description itself mentions that it's not available to Motorola devices.
This is probably one of the more frustrating features that I have seen on this device. Whenever I wipe (per say to go to another rom) in the setup process there is no option to select restore from a nexus 6. Only from my tablet and NY old note 4 that I haven't used in 2 weeks. This is really frustrating because I have to manually download all the apps that I use on a regular basis. Is there a way to fix this? Has anyone else run into it?
Why not just use titanium backup. I find it much easier and much faster.

I have exactly the same issue. It's incredibly irritating to have to re-set everything up including wi-fi settings etc. etc. I don't understand why it keeps showing just my old Nexus 4. I've learned my lesson now and will do a nandroid next time but that is something that should be working anyway.
I think there's a lot of us with the same issue. Tb is fine but I want my settings to restore also.
Yep it sucks, trying to use Google to have a solution but still nothing everytime I try to clean flash I need to select setup as new device since my last backup is almost 50 days old.
I could use titanium backup but why download an app when my phone is supposed to do that without the need of an extra app
It hasn't backed up mine either... Nvidia Shield backsup just fine but not this... I can't understand what's going on.
I posted what worked for me to have my Nexus 6 show up in my Google Play devices in another thread earlier as I was having the same issues, then noticing that the Nexus was not showing up in my devices on Google Play.
Basically, a few days ago, all I did was go to "Backup and reset" in the phone settings, turned off "Back up my data", then turned it back on again and my device finally showed up in Google Play and is presently up to date in the "Last used" column at this time. As noted in the other thread, I have not reset the phone since but hopefully now that the phone is in the list and updating, it will be an option next time I reset the phone.
This worked for me to at least get the phone to show up in Google Play. I hope it works for others that might be having the same issue and hopefully with the phone showing up in Google Play, an automatic restore will be possible after a reset.
Hi all.
Yesterday I got my new OP3t to replace my S6 duos. As always I choose the restore option at the beginning of new phone configuration in order to restore apps and, mainly, to restore my saved Wi-Fi's. This days wifi passwords are a must
However, for the first time, the OP3t inicial config failed, then it started again, more than an hour on "adding finishing touches" and at the end no wifi configuration restored.
I did more than 20 attempts to restore, with factory reset, choosing different backup dates (and even different phones), but with the same result.
I also tried 3 different stock roms from OP3t download site.
Anyone with the same experience? Is there a way to force the restore after initial setup?

Are you joking mate??? 20 attempts you even reset a brand new device like 3x and all this crap for a feature that OnePlus does not have? Hey somethings are built into Samsung phones sorry . I know it sucks I miss somethings too but it's ok I always start fresh on a new device after all it is your NEW phone why have it set up like the old??

Hi Nano,
I don't think that's true. I already did this on a LG G5, on my Nexus 7, and other phones. The wifi passwords are stored on the google account (in google drive - I even can see the backup that says "settings, wifi passwords and others"). One time i even got the wallpaper from my old phone, but the wifis not.
When you setup yours, the setup process run smoothly? I had some issues, like the phone restart during the process (and started it again).

I do remember that happening but since I decided not to restore anything and just log in normally. I still have my wifi password saved

Hello, this function worked for me. Last time i did a factory reset, i've synced my contacts, wifi pass, etc with the phone. There must be an option for you to do that too. It even restored the wallpaper and the shortcuts on homescreen

well, today I tryed again, with a different OS version, and it almost worked. No issues on the setup process, the apps were downloaded (a bit slower but ok), the wallpaper and desktop icons, apps config... everything ok... but no wifi passwords ... the most important thing is missing.
Having the same thing here... Trying to restore data and apps from the Google backup of my S7 Edge, but it won't finish the process. I've had it hang at the final "just a sec", and I've had it reboot in the middle. I reflashed the official 4.0.3 OS (came out of the box with 3.5.4), so the core Android OS versions match between the new 3t and the S7e (both 7.0). About to just give up and set it up from scratch, but that's a real PITA given that I've never had to do that from any other phone. (I've chosen to do it in some cases, but I've never been forced to do so.)

So, I finally got mine to go through in terms of apps and their data, but it definitely didn't restore wifi AP info (i.e.- saved APs, pwds, etc). I'm open to the possibility that there is something to the idea that it's Samsung-specific, but I've never had a setup process be this janky. I did the factory wipe and setup about 10 times and even reflashed 4.0.3 to make sure something wasn't corrupted. It's hard for me to recall the exact steps that worked, but it basically all worked the same until the final setup screen where it gives you the option to do things like add more Gmail accounts, set up gestures, OK Google, Input methods, etc. If I recall, what worked was that I setup the input method & set up the gestures after which it rebooted on its own. When it came back up it took me to the same final setup screen where I chose the option to finish setup, and it took me and and proceeded to install the apps I'd chosen as part of the restore from the S7 Edge entry in my Google account.
I've had zero issues with the phone since, but WOW on the setup process. This is definitely a repeatable phenomenon with a Samsung phone backup and a new OP3t.
But.. did the wifi recover or not?

Nope (see bolded text from my reply)
