Hi all.
Yesterday I got my new OP3t to replace my S6 duos. As always I choose the restore option at the beginning of new phone configuration in order to restore apps and, mainly, to restore my saved Wi-Fi's. This days wifi passwords are a must
However, for the first time, the OP3t inicial config failed, then it started again, more than an hour on "adding finishing touches" and at the end no wifi configuration restored.
I did more than 20 attempts to restore, with factory reset, choosing different backup dates (and even different phones), but with the same result.
I also tried 3 different stock roms from OP3t download site.
Anyone with the same experience? Is there a way to force the restore after initial setup?

Are you joking mate??? 20 attempts you even reset a brand new device like 3x and all this crap for a feature that OnePlus does not have? Hey somethings are built into Samsung phones sorry . I know it sucks I miss somethings too but it's ok I always start fresh on a new device after all it is your NEW phone why have it set up like the old??

Hi Nano,
I don't think that's true. I already did this on a LG G5, on my Nexus 7, and other phones. The wifi passwords are stored on the google account (in google drive - I even can see the backup that says "settings, wifi passwords and others"). One time i even got the wallpaper from my old phone, but the wifis not.
When you setup yours, the setup process run smoothly? I had some issues, like the phone restart during the process (and started it again).

I do remember that happening but since I decided not to restore anything and just log in normally. I still have my wifi password saved

Hello, this function worked for me. Last time i did a factory reset, i've synced my contacts, wifi pass, etc with the phone. There must be an option for you to do that too. It even restored the wallpaper and the shortcuts on homescreen

well, today I tryed again, with a different OS version, and it almost worked. No issues on the setup process, the apps were downloaded (a bit slower but ok), the wallpaper and desktop icons, apps config... everything ok... but no wifi passwords ... the most important thing is missing.
Having the same thing here... Trying to restore data and apps from the Google backup of my S7 Edge, but it won't finish the process. I've had it hang at the final "just a sec", and I've had it reboot in the middle. I reflashed the official 4.0.3 OS (came out of the box with 3.5.4), so the core Android OS versions match between the new 3t and the S7e (both 7.0). About to just give up and set it up from scratch, but that's a real PITA given that I've never had to do that from any other phone. (I've chosen to do it in some cases, but I've never been forced to do so.)

So, I finally got mine to go through in terms of apps and their data, but it definitely didn't restore wifi AP info (i.e.- saved APs, pwds, etc). I'm open to the possibility that there is something to the idea that it's Samsung-specific, but I've never had a setup process be this janky. I did the factory wipe and setup about 10 times and even reflashed 4.0.3 to make sure something wasn't corrupted. It's hard for me to recall the exact steps that worked, but it basically all worked the same until the final setup screen where it gives you the option to do things like add more Gmail accounts, set up gestures, OK Google, Input methods, etc. If I recall, what worked was that I setup the input method & set up the gestures after which it rebooted on its own. When it came back up it took me to the same final setup screen where I chose the option to finish setup, and it took me and and proceeded to install the apps I'd chosen as part of the restore from the S7 Edge entry in my Google account.
I've had zero issues with the phone since, but WOW on the setup process. This is definitely a repeatable phenomenon with a Samsung phone backup and a new OP3t.
But.. did the wifi recover or not?

can someone please help? i recently bought a used tilt ii (HTC 8925) and have had several recurring problems since.
1) for some reason the phone seems to delete/lose my contacts. initially i manually entered contacts until i discovered active sync. after it lost those contacts the first time i copied contacts from my outlook phonebook (over 200) on my laptop. within a few days it lost those as well.
i figured this might have happened (somehow) after unsuccessfully attempting to delete some apps (mainly some games which i don't like); install new apps ( an RPN calc & updated version of S2U2) modifying existing layout using the Chome editor app.
so after the third time of losing contacts & reinstalling using active sync from outlook, i decided NOT to install/delete or change any apps. last nite i modified some contacts assigning several to different categories. woke up this morning & voila! all contacts are lost except for 6.. WTF???
what is causing this phone to lose contacts like this??
2) i have set pass word lock on my phone seems to work fine for a few days then suddenly it no longer recognizes my password. That is my situation now. & again it has happened before. i think i ended up powering down phone, removing sim card for a several minutes then rebooting.
what is causing this?
3) lastly my active sync program often does not work. it will not recognize my phone. & then when i make changes to get it to recognize the phone ( deleting the device & then adding it back), it won't recognize the settings for my outloook server. what is going wrong with this that i have to keep redoing this after so many days?
4) how do i do a system restore on this phone. i have searched for this as well with little luck on HOW to actually do this on the phone.
i hope these issues & questions make sense. lawd knows i sure can't make sense of what is going on with this phone. & yes i have searched on the forums for these issues & can't find full answers to the problems i have collectively.
my phone has WM 6.5 professional, ROM version: TPC_V11 Mega WWE; radio version 1.70.19.09, HTC touchflo (which i don't use);
Thanks,
kahlil
Ready the sticky/tutorial at the beginning of the forum - the instructions to flash original shipped ROM are in there. You have the same ROM I do.. it works great!
thanks beatlefan i will check there again. that was the first place i looked when i got the phone, but don't recall seeing solutions to the problems i'm getting now. maybe i overlooked?

It sounds like something going on with the way you have ActiveSync configured. Make sure you have enabled the calendar and contact update box when you set it up. You also might try running the sync a couple of times.
I Might be wrong but since you have a custom rom you might want to try flashing a stock rom and then reflashing the same custom rom, cuz sometimes it fixes strange issues like these. Hope that helps.

So today I decided to factory reset my HTC One, and install back some applications I had previously.
However, after the factory reset I am unable to either install or update any application, with the Google Play Store returning: ""{app}" could not be downloaded due to an error. (403)".
I've been looking around a bit and have seen quite some others with this issue, however no solutions have worked for me. What I've tried:
Logged into Hangouts and confirmed mobile number.
Removed Google account in settings --> Go to Apps>All> and force stop Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager, then clear cache and data for each --> Added back Google account --> Restarted device (without launching Google Play Store).
Using a new gmail account.
Clearing Proxy: I've looked in my Wi-Fi and APN Settings, both of which have no proxy set to begin wit.
Using 3G instead of Wi-Fi.
Another factory reset (repeated other steps afterwards).
Installing apps onto my device from my PC (it won't attempt to install them on the phone).
Please note my phone is not rooted and I'm not planning on rooting my phone any time soon.
Thanks in advance,
Errors4l.

Interesting, this is happening to me also after a factory reset of my HTC One. Tried all of the above, my phone too is not rooted however the bootloader is unlocked.

Yeah I've encountered quite some threads of people having this problem with the HTC One, however their solutions have not worked for me. Hoping someone can bring an answer to this thread
Yea it just seems unusual that it has happened to us pretty much at the same time under the same circumstances, maybe there is some issue with the store rather than our devices, I hope so!
Having exactly the same problem, tried everything. Even got a new handset because of the original issue which caused me to perform the factory reset. Maybe a problem with Google Play?
Hey guys!
I did a factory reset on my LG Swift L9 today
and also can't download any app from Google Play
due to 403. It may not be related to HTC One only.

I've got a new Nexus 5 delivered to me hours ago, first time using it and i can confirm the same sadly, hopefully it will be resolved soon !
What would be the quickest way to alert a mod so that the thread can be moved to a non device specific forum?
Hi all,
Picked up a Nexus 7 today - it was initially loaded with an old build of Android (Blue connectivity bars not white etc) and everything seemed to be working fine. Notification popped up for me to install the latest version, so I stopped what I was doing, got it installed and I'm now stuck with the same 403 errors as everyone else.
Looks to me like a Play Store issue but damn infuriating seeing as I can't even put any basic apps on my shiny new Nexus.
Noticed on another forum earlier that someone was having the same issue, and a guy responded saying he'd returned his Galaxy Tab to the store it came from today (Curry's, I think?) and after the staff there contacted Samsung - they were told that it was an issue with the Play Store. No obvious citations of course, but seems pretty legit what with everything else going on.
And now we wait...

(Not so) sorry for double post.
I just tried again, without making any changes to my phone, and I just downloaded 3 different apps (2 I had previously, 1 new one).
Need a confirmation if the problem is solved for other people (with different devices) before I request a close.

Nope, still 403'ing over here. But I'll keep checking in case it's gradually being fixed.
Still getting errors here too.
403 =/
I'm glad it's not just me.
I tried resetting/clearing everything thinking it was my phone cos I just recently rooted and flashed this brand spanking new HTC One (it was a replacement for my broken HTC One that had a working store :crying, until I went ahead and Googled this annoying error.
Seems like it's a problem on the Google end! =/
Get same error, tried RUU reset and ViperOne ROM.
Still 403 error! Very annoying
Spent 2 hours or so messing installing cyanogen on my new nexus and thought I'd ****ed up. Then googled it. I can believe it, talk about bad timing. lol
Looks like we are not alone...

Ok this may have been addressed and i am sorry if i missed it but i have searched. When first getting the nexus It would automatically backup my apps and settings. First couple roms i flashed did the same. Well lately it no longer does this. When flashing a Rom i have to pick a backup from over a month ago. Is this due to encryption being off? Or am i just missing something. Alot has changed in a month and i would like to get that feature back.
Bump

I had to set up my phone 3 separate times. First initial and was an idiot by taking a nice few hours meticulously setting up everything just find out unlocking and rooting would wipe.
2nd time was after I decided to unlock and root. Set everything up again. Still did not lose the option you talk about.
3rd time I decided to decrypt. Still was able to use it. So I don't think encryption has anything to do with it. Also the backup being used was from my last set up from my encrypted 2013 Moto X.
I think the backup for you got corrupted somehow and is no longer usable. Only thing I can think of really.
Near as I can tell, Google only does the backup if you are running the stock ROM. Not sure what's going on or why.
I have the same issue-I am using stock, rooted and un-encrypted and I had to setup my Nexus 6 a couple of times, since I did not root when I got it...but every time I did it only showed my Nexus 5 backup, Nexus 6 wasn't even on the list...I am not sure why and what is going on but it happened to me as well...
I just went to my Google Settings and it shows that it saved my Nexus 6 device so I am hoping this won't be a problem anymore...
How exactly do we access our old backups?
I have my nexus 6, and it is set to backup apps and data. But when I try fire up a moto x 2014 (lollipop) I have setting around the house, and try to start the device fresh....I only get the option to do "tap and go". I have no option, even if I skip this step and sign in, to access my backups and restore.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
in main settings, backup and reset, do you have backup my data, and automatic restore enabled?
Yes, I do. Could it be something with the moto X in particular? I am tempted to reset my nexus 6 and try it out, but I don't feel like spending the time required to get it how I like it, if it doesn't do the restore correctly.

no idea. every time i reset my n6 and want to restore, it always gives me options to restore nexus 5, nexus 7, or nexus 6 backups.
It gives me options from my one plus and nexus. But they're all old. It does not backup any new backups. Been about a month now.
I have this same problem my N6 has never backed up data. My N9 and my AOSP LG G3 both do just fine.
I have done clean installs probably about 10 times with my N6 so far. Never once has it backed up the data.
Clean flashed
Stock
Stock Based
and AOSP
So i logged into an M8 running LiquidSmooth 4.4.4 And when i wiped and cleaned flashed LiquidSmooth 5.0.1 for my nexus the backup from the M8 was there but not anything recent from my nexus.
BUMP.
My 100% stock ATT nexus 6 will not backup my google account info. App data, wifi passwords and such. The setting is on.
I go to restore on my HTC One m9 and no go. When I use the tap and go feature it has me log into my google account then makes me choose a backed up device or start clean. My nexus 6 is not there.
This is probably one of the more frustrating features that I have seen on this device. Whenever I wipe (per say to go to another rom) in the setup process there is no option to select restore from a nexus 6. Only from my tablet and NY old note 4 that I haven't used in 2 weeks. This is really frustrating because I have to manually download all the apps that I use on a regular basis. Is there a way to fix this? Has anyone else run into it?
Why not just use titanium backup. I find it much easier and much faster.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I have exactly the same issue. It's incredibly irritating to have to re-set everything up including wi-fi settings etc. etc. I don't understand why it keeps showing just my old Nexus 4. I've learned my lesson now and will do a nandroid next time but that is something that should be working anyway.
I think there's a lot of us with the same issue. Tb is fine but I want my settings to restore also.
Yep it sucks, trying to use Google to have a solution but still nothing everytime I try to clean flash I need to select setup as new device since my last backup is almost 50 days old.
I could use titanium backup but why download an app when my phone is supposed to do that without the need of an extra app
It hasn't backed up mine either... Nvidia Shield backsup just fine but not this... I can't understand what's going on.
I posted what worked for me to have my Nexus 6 show up in my Google Play devices in another thread earlier as I was having the same issues, then noticing that the Nexus was not showing up in my devices on Google Play.
Basically, a few days ago, all I did was go to "Backup and reset" in the phone settings, turned off "Back up my data", then turned it back on again and my device finally showed up in Google Play and is presently up to date in the "Last used" column at this time. As noted in the other thread, I have not reset the phone since but hopefully now that the phone is in the list and updating, it will be an option next time I reset the phone.
This worked for me to at least get the phone to show up in Google Play. I hope it works for others that might be having the same issue and hopefully with the phone showing up in Google Play, an automatic restore will be possible after a reset.
Hi all,
Purchased the watch couple days ago, yesterday was my first day to really put it through it's paces. Everything seems copacetic except for the WiFi syncing. I've got cloud sync turned on in the Wear app, and WiFi on the watch is set to "Automatic". I verified the watch is indeed connected to a valid WiFi network, with no exclamation points, etc., and I turn off BT on my phone (but keep it's data connection on.) I then try sending a text from the watch, no luck - "Try again from your phone." fail message. I send myself a text from my wife's phone to my phone, the phone registers it, but the watch doesn't. I go into Keep and delete a note on the phone, the watch still shows it. It's not until they reconnect via BT that everything syncs again. Oh, and I tried it on three different WiFi networks (2 at work, 1 at home), no success.
Here's the only thing that I can think of being different. The very first time I turned WiFi off on the watch, there's was a small Yes/No splash screen that came up saying something to the effect of "turning this off will prevent you from syncing"... I THINK. Honestly I can't recall what it said precisely (I was too excited playing with the watch), but the multiple times I've toggled WiFi since then, I have not seen that message again. Anyone know what message I'm talking about? Of course since it hasn't come up again I'm convinced it's the reason WiFi syncing isn't working now. I even factory reset the watch and cleared the data on my Wear app, hoping to get that message back. (It could be completely unrelated, it's just bugging me that ever since I chose "Yes I'm sure", syncing has not worked.)
Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions.

Did you ever figure this out?
I have the LG WATCH R with the Urbane rom and have the same issue. It shows connect to Wifi just fine but if I am away from the phone, I cannot send anything...just like when I have no connection.
I think the pop up you mentioned just had a option to prevent the warning from coming up again but should not affect the option to disable and enable the cloud sync.
Nope, afraid not. I posted it to the Google Android wear forums and a couple of "experts" replied to me with suggestions that did not help (factory reset, mainly.)

Yep that has been my "solutions" too so far. I am not sure how the Cloud Sync works do you? It is linked to your Google account? If so, I have 3 email accounts..could that create an issue? I am basically looking for anything right now
Here's what I did find out: my daily driver phone is a Moto X 2nd gen running Lollipop. I factory reset an old Samsung S4 and set it up with a Google account I'd just created. I then factory reset the watch and paired it to that phone. Wouldn't you know, the WiFi notifications worked!
I then factory reset the S4 again, this time using my main Google account to set it up. Factory reset the watch again also. After pairing them, the WiFi notifications did NOT work!
So, I can only conclude the issue is caused by how I have my main Google account configured, although right now I've gone through all the settings twice and verified that I have all of my sharing settings (like location) enabled. Argh.

Well my LG Watch R is now able to work with Wifi for real but only at home. Not sure what I did...I just deleted my accounts from Settings and added them back.
At work, though even when it shows connected, I do not receive any info from the Phone which is very lame since it was at work where I could really use it.

Cool! Can you tell me what you mean by "deleted my accounts from Settings"? I want to test it too.

I have 3 google accounts so I actually deleted only two that are not my primary. Then I went to the Sync options and made sure all was checked.
Then also for the Location I removed any other devices that are showing under my account that are not my Phone (tablet and older phones) but not sure which one of those did the trick.

Huh, okay, I'll give those a try. Thanks.
I did open a ticket with Android Wear Support and was told they were going to escalate the issue and I'd be contacted in 48 hours. That was Sunday. I just asked for an update and they replied that they have no solution ATM and no time frame to provide one. Heh! Oh well.
