Hey guys
I am running JB 4.1.2 on my Galaxy S Advance. First I was really pleased about the new functions, the additional speed and the new the design.
( I was running 2.3.6)
But now my mobile hangs a lot, if I'm watching videos, playing music or if I just go on facebook.
I've used the instructions of this video and I've done exactly the same as showed. /watch?v=2W2NVfGJ0Cc
Do you have any ideas, how I can speed up my phone?
Maybe with an other kernel, an other ROM or something like that.
Greetings from Switzerland!

Use latest xxlq4 version, and some of custom kernel. I do not have lag at all with it.
Sent from Galaxy S Advance
Mine hangs a lot tok when i open the YouTube app in the first video, i must be tapping the first 10 seconds the screen to respond and if i have luck it doesn't hangs, and if it does, for me there is no other way out than a hard reset...
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
even my phone used to lag a lot.
just root ur phone, use a custom kernel like cocre or thunderzap.
i use cocore 3.3 and in no frills, set governor to pegasusq and i/o to sio.
it will work smoothly. i play gta vice city just fine

i am using stock rom XXLQ4 with cocore 3.3 kernel and no frills config: governor-pegasusq and i/o-sio
still if u feel the phone lags which i dont think it will, u can enable forced gpu rendering in developer options, although u may experience screen flickering.
try Thunderzap 4.1 kernel and wipe cache/dalvik. See if there's any difference. It worked for me.
my phone also hangs quite a lot, a few times a day when i want to unlock my phone it just shows the last used app (be it the launcher or any other app) and doesn't respond except for the power button. when i press the power button the screen locks, but when pressing again it's still frozen.
(i know, it's a bit of an old thread, but maybe someone will reply)

It has been a long time since we have custom kernels and roms. Use CoCore E kernel and some custom ROM. Or some CM ROM.

already done, when i deodexed it i made a flashable zip that removes all files from /preload/symlink/system/app, /system/app and /system/framework, and then copies all the deodexed files to these locations, and roots it and adds dsp manager.

does cm 10.1 have a better battery life than cm 10.2? cause in cm 10.2 it was quite terrible, only about half a day with wifi off (i never use data connection, always turn that of ) and in standby most of the time.
edit- the battery is fine, it's almost new, and in stock rom i can get about 1 and-a-half day with wifi almost constantly on

i think i'm gonna try that one for a day or so, see if the battery life is indeed better than cm 10.2.
only downside other than that is the high vibration strength, is there anyway to lower that? (only for buttons and certain onscreen things)
and is there much difference in battery life between 10.2 and 10.1?
edit- just installed it, but wifi always takes about 2 minutes to turn on, so i'm back to stock based

and if so, is it also fixed in 10.2? that would be even better
edit- still the same problem, most of the time it takes around 2 minutes to turn on wifi, and sometimes it doesn't even turn on and i have to reboot.

If you haven't done yet, root your phone. Then flash a custom recovery. CWM or TWRP. Then flash a custom kernel or a custom rom.
I think the Jelly Bean stock-rom isn't recommended for this phone. It didn't use to lag, when I used Gingerbread 2.3. After flashing Jelly Bean it hanged a lot!
Now, i rooted it, installed CWM and the custom rom Pure Vanilla. It doesnt lag anymore!
Greetings and nice luck

Can someone please explain to me why I only get 7 hours of battery life? Using ViperOne with ElementalX
I've seen some people on here get 20+ hours.

Stock kernel is in the ROM.ZIP, instead of flashing it separately (fastboot flash boot boot.img), easiest way is to just dirty-flash the ROM again.
you should check wakelocks (use Wakelock Detector or similar), to see if you have any rogue app(s) that are not letting the phone go in deep-sleep.
I use a combination of GSAM and Wakelock Detector to monitor battery usage, and you should check into Greenify to hibernate apps

You should also check GSAM, but from what it looks like, you had 1h 19min of Screen On time (might wanna consider brightness level) while going from 38% to 9% (+ whatever apps you were using... i guess a lot of music too), so it doesnt sound very strange to me.
Ok so ive got twrp 2.7 recovery installed and im running malladus 1.2.9 currently and evrything is runnung great right now. Ive been trying to read about some different kernels because my intrest in them has gone up. So my question is what kernel are you running and what do you like and dislike about it if any. I know each phone can react differently to different kernels but i just want to get a feel for things out there before i decide on which kernel i want to try.
I would definitely recommend Furnace 1.7.1 for LG roms. Extremely smooth and snappy

You can download an app called Trickster MOD Kernel Settings, or Kernel Tweaker. If your ROM supports it, you can find kernel settings in the settings application.

There is 3g that is why it says roaming. Its not "always roaming" it only displays that when you're on 3g.
Turn on allow data while roaming and you're set. Its cosmetic, it doesn't roam.
And based on the c ROM thread, yes, it is there.
Until cm fixes it and the changes are merged to whatever ROM or the ROM devs fix it themselves it will be there.

Every kernel is different in what you can change. Take the lg stock kernel. No access to voltages and whatever else. On a custom kernel you may have access to it (if the Dev allows)
Also if you flash dominax it will install stweeks as well, basically his version of trickster.
If your phone isn't slow, why flash a custom stock kernel? I'm currently on 1.2.9 malladus with animations turned off, and its snappy as hell.
Stock kernel = no issues and best battery life.
Custom = possible sod's even on stock.

Nope, not really. Today I was in an area where I normally don't get 4G, phone then said it was roaming, but that was expected. I was having some wakelock issues while charging in the car when my phone was super low on battery (forgot to charge last night), screen kept coming on while chraging when I was trying to conserve every last bit of juice.
That being said, it's by far the best ROM I've seen yet. I've never seen so many features packed into one ROM before. IT makes PAC Man ROM look like stock. Its awesome! Def check it out!

No I didn't care for cm10. If I didn't see any improvement with the latest milestone I was going to go back to the gingerbread kernel and cm7. I would expect there to be more battery consumption with KitKat then gingerbread due to the mere work load on the processor. But its running more conservative than my dual core phone with ICS ever did even with this amoled screen.
The second flash of cm11 fixed my issues. From CWM recovery I first wiped the cash, installed the cm11 zip file on the SD, then wiped dalvik cache. After up and running I did remove some Google Apps that suck battery and bandwidth like Chrome and Google Play sound recorder (which seems to be running all the time searching for music or something).
