Hello all
My watch has developed a strange display scrolling problem when active watchface is displayed since lollipop update.
Please see the following video to explain the problem.
Have tried to reset via the menu to fix the problem . after reset it works for a few minutes but then it comes back. I feel this is a software fault
Any ideas chaps?
Thanks

bro..im having the same issue..have u manage to rectify it?
I was advised by LG support to return it to the distributor
they initially told me to go back to lg but in the end they gave me a RMA
Now waiting for a repair or replacement watch. Fingers crossed
I had the same symptoms as well. When through LG's customer service to get an "RA" number. I was pleasantly surprised that LG provided pre-paid shipping through FEDEX. I received it back in a little over a week. It appears to be a new watch altogether, as the the front display didn't have the screen protector I put on it, as well as the band looking pristine. So it appears that this wasn't a software issue, but a hardware failure. It was surprising that it didn't have the latest firmware installed, but I'm still happy I have a functional LG Watch R back again! Make sure you keep the invoice/receipt to provide proof of purchase for free warranty service.
I have the same problem in my particular case happen after flashing the Urban ROM ... also think is a sofware problem ... any suggestion, i dont live in the USA and sending the watch to warranty will take months....
How to fix it?
Sorry for popping this thread. I have the same issue. My watch is 10 moth old. I tried to contact LG USA support, but for some reason they don't take responsibility for it. I definitely got my lesson regarding LG support
Did anybody managed to fix this problem? As for now I have $$$ brick
My watch has now developed this problem too but i am on marshmallow.
Would flashing 6.0.1 on the watch fix it does anyone think?
I cannot bring it back to LG as i bought it second hand
Any ideas to fix would be greatly received
I have the same problem, Did anybody managed to fix this problem?
I had the same issue. To solve the problem you need to remove the mainboard from your watch and do a reflow procedure with the mainboard.
A simple way to do it is to put the mainboard in a oven and heat it op to about 100 degrees celsius for about 5 minutes. Remove it from the oven and let it cool down.
Assemble your watch and power up.

Is anyone having an idea on how to handle the following:
- Start menu is opening and closing by itself, and
- after a while the device stops to respond to any input on the touchscreen, while other functionalities seem to be OK;
- neither a soft nor a hard reset help. The screen remains 'frozen' until... again difficult to say why, it recovers and then ...all over again as above.
thanks,
Nic
I had the same problem after about 2 weeks of use. Turn off, soft-reset, hard-reset didn't help at all. Leaving the phone off for couple hours helped but the problem occurred again. Very frustrating. I have contacted the HTC support but still haven't received any responses from them. I think it's the hardware problem.
This is either a motherboard problem- it has occurred on some Trinity and Hermes devices and involves the screen controller chip; or it could be a problem with a screen protector (if fitted ) causing pressure around the edge of the screen
I had the same problem. Sent my device to HTC and they replaced the motherboard. When I got it back, I thought all is well. The drop down menu started again so I sent back to them with a nasty message. It is in repair now and hopefully they will fix it again, change the motherboard and the screen!!!
Hello Gilbert,
When you send to them, you had to pay the shipping fee?

Hi,
Oh yes. twice already and this pisses me off. When they sent the device to me the first time after claiming it was fixed, i did not have to pay for shipping costs. Let's hope they fix the bloody device soon or I am going to change brands.
Thanks,
Gilbert
I saw that problem on youtube

Man I really hope mine doesn't have that problem, I wonder what it is? Let us know what happens when you get it back, again.
Dam, wtf, while reading this thread my Trinity started to act exactly as described in the above posts!!! IT'S contagous! Seriously... I do have a screen protector... Hope it rights itself....
This is really terrible...

Hi there,
After having used my Trinity for 4 weeks I am experiencing same problems of erratic behavior, the start menu is activating itself and as a consequence device is slowing down gradualy up to the point where it freezes. I tried, soft/hard resets, removing battery etc. but nothing seemed to work. I have not installed the screen protector yet, so I can rule out straight away the effect of the screen protector. First I thought it could be jog dia lwheel which might be faulty, then it crosses my mind that it could be some virus. I donwloaded some applications off the internet. Before I found this thread I was considering of deleting the ROM and replacing it with another one, but it seem that the issue is more of hardware origin rather than software related. What happend after you got it from the repair? Is it working now? Cheers.
So the phone (XT860 Bell) has problems when I unlock it the screen stays black. The phone works though cause when someone calls I can still pick up as I know somewhat where the green button is. But for the rest I can't do anything.
The only way to get the phone back is to remove the battery and restart the phone. Then it works again.
Anyone else had this problem?
have you tried hard resetting it?
No will do so. But before doing that I thought maybe there is some simple solution.
After the update to 2.3.6 things went all a bit wrong I think.
If you got this after the update, I am quite confident data wipe will solve your problem. You can try wiping cache only first - this way you won't lose your configuration and might solve the problem. The update supposedly wipes cache, but maybe that didn't work properly while you were updating. Enter stock recovery and give it a try.
Hey thanks for the help. But just did a reset. Not sure what went wrong when I did the update. Did wipe. Annnnyways. Right now it's stable. Let's see if it stays like this.
Ok sadly the reset didn't fix it. It took a whole day to go black again but still happened.
Any other solutions? I am scared that it's a hardware failure...but let's hope not cause I am in Holland.
I have the droid 3 and the same exact thing is happening to me. Sorry to tell you this but it has to deal wit the connector between the keyboard and screen. I've taken mine to get checked by a "phone doctor" and they told me that. I will tell you this now ,since it is still in the early stages, it's going to get worse to the point that it will stay black. Get it fixed by a techy or get a replacement soon. Mine reached it's point today and I am going to need to get it fixed. Hope it helps.

Doesn't sound good man :-(......
Though it happened a lot the passed days since the reset ( knock on wood) only once. Do wonder why it happens less now.
Yea you can reset all you want it's going to go blank. I had to right the dial pad numbers with marker on the screen just to make calls. I say get it fixed or replaced soon
I've got the same issue here. I know the thread is old, but I'm from the Netherlands (just like eezdva) and would like to know how to repair this.

If you can't take it back and want to try to fix it yourself you need to search for a droid 3 flex cable. The one you want has the front facing camera, front sensors and earpiece speaker on it. Then head on over to ifixit for a teardown guide (sorry no repair manual yet, I plan on working on one).
I have to add that taking this phone apart to replace this part is no small feat, and it would probably be better finding a phone doctor to do it for you, or just getting a new phone.
When you buy the part, request an OEM part, I have been sent cables where the front facing camera displays sideways, or doesn't work at all. Most also don't come with the front button deflector, and that has to be transferred from the old cable.
Hope this helps
Ok . Well I don't really know what the problem is. But it went away. Actually it started I think after applying the update . I got myself another external sdcard . At a certain moment I decided to remove it and things cooled down. It now actually never happens anymore.
Well I gues you're lucky!
My screen sometimes starts all scrambled and the phone doesn't power on. Sliding the screen a couple of time sometimes helpes, but most of the time I don't really know howto get the phone working again. I think it's more stable when I leave the phone 'slided out' (don't know the right word now).
And I searched Motorolas website and found 2 reparing companies in the Netherlands. They both are authorized by Motorola, as of such I think this repair will be in warranty.
I do have to send it for repair. I don't want to take it apart because of what bitz_dv said. I'll let you know!
No Fix
When I was gone on a short holiday my college got a call from the 'authorized' motorola repair center. They can't fix my phone. I need to pay 11 euro to get it back and that's it. I tried calling them but there was no answer.
I sended my phone in on 22 may 2012 and now they decided they can't repair it. I spoke to Ted from Negri Electronics who told me to get in touch with Motorola as my warranty is still valid.
I'm a little confused, where should I go if an official repair center can't fix my phone but do tell me the repair is within warranty..
What can I do? Besides ordering the parts and take the phone apart myself..
I started my search for the flex cable... I did repair a N97 once, within the warranty period and later on sended it in and they repaired it under warranty....
Is this the cable I'm searching for:
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Motorola-Droid-3-XT862-Motherboard-Flex-Ribbon-p/mot1040660.htm
I am from Netherlands, and have the same problem with the screen, looks like many users from Netherlands do.. coincidence?
When i jst slide out the keyboard , a little bit is enough, and the screen goes black ( black screen of death ) it doesnt power on with power button.
I looked for a flex cable at ebay, and it surprised me , that cable is also doing the front camera, and speaker... My front camera wasnt working too, and speaker made strange sounds many times, so it could be that cable, but not sure.
Check my thread, i have also uploaded a video to make it more clear
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955892
So basically, half year after a purchase the image on the screen started to scroll in chaos - very buggy and impossible to use of course.
It began after I left the watched at home for couple of days (they still had juice when I picked them again). Painfully I managed to proceed with a factory reset and it worked... for 24 hours or so.
I decided to turn them off and went for a business trip leaving the watch at home. Much to my regret when I got back they still had the issue and moreover, now even the factory reset doesn't help.
I did not try to flash any ROM yet since my bud had bricked his watch during this process and I wish to avoid that at least for now.
I also would liek to notice that I did not spill a drip of water on the watch neither did drop it.
Had anyone saw anything like that? what it can be? software or hardware? Any advice would fit. Thanks in advance.
PS I cannot go to warranty service since I've bought them abroad.
PSS added: Forgot to mention - the screen behaves like that EVERYWHERE - watch faces in ambient or normal mode/ apps/ settings - everywhere.
The video is below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K6sc4XbjP8&feature=youtu.be
anyone please?
Edit: So I flashed the the leedroid urban and the problem is still there, I assume it is a hardware issue :'(
Okay, Just FYI the problem was hardware - with the motherboard. I've changed it in LG service center for ~80 USD
hi there, I have been experiencing this issue with my Galaxy note 9 (SM-N960F/DS). suddenly yesterday day I noticed that the volume the bottom speaker of my phone has dropped drastically, even bellow the volume level of the earpiece speaker, I tried wiping cache and what other stuff I could think of to try to fix the issue but nothing worked.
Finally as my last resort to make sure if maybe it is a software issue and not a hardware one, I factory reseted it, it started to work just fine after that!
But it didn't last for very long, next day, after when I woke up, I noticed the volume has been dropped again. Now I am sure as everyone would understand, resetting my phone everyday is not an option for me
I tried asking Samsung help center but they say I need to bring it in to the nearest service center, which is not an option for me, and who are kidding they don't help, they suck.
SOME INFORMATION regarding my phone
●Note 9 SM-N960F/DS
●Updated to One UI 2.1 a week ago
●I never have had any problem before
●Speaker started to work factory reset have proved that it's a software problem
●Samsung care sucks
If anyone is having the same problem please do post, and anyone who has any idea what's going on please do post too, your help can literally save my life.
Thanks everyone

I think that maybe the case too. Or you could take a handheld vacuum cleaner to it with the crevious attachment to suck out any dust or debrie that maybe stuck in the speaker grill

Hi Eddie, I would have agreed with you but the thing is that doing a factory reset resolved the problem for me once, then it eventually appeared again, so this indicates that it is a software issue! No?

But then how did the factory reset fix the problem for me once? I am sure it has something to do with software. Can you think of anything that I should try to fix it supposing it's a software issue (other than a factory reset of course) thanks.
Hmm seeing that you have corrected the issue in the past by doing the factory reset it is possibly a software issue..
Possibly try a reflash using odin?
It won't break your warranty unless you have rooted ij the past..
If that fails take a trip to samsung get it repaired under warranty
All.the best eddie
hi, go to service menu by dialing *#0#*, and test speaker there. this will confirm whether it is hardware or software.

Hey Eddie thanks for the odin suggestion, I tried it and finally realized that I was just being too stubborn to admit that my phone has a hardware issue. Turns out the audio never got better after a reset, it just felt a bit different as I wanted to be it that way.
Anyways time to admit the hard truth it is a hardware issue and I think won't get it repaired, both speakers now get as loud as an S8 which by any means is not a the best speaker out there, but it gets the job done, thanks for time, Abdul Wahab.

I had the very same problem. After the update. Same phone Other than the phone heating up and taking really long to charge, the speaker output dropped then got flakey. And finally stopped working. All this happened after the update.
Did a reset. Even took it to the service center and let them re-load the s/w.
Nothing helped. In the end both speakers, both mics, and ear jack will stop working.
I traced the problem down to one of two ICs one is the Max98512 or the 9896B.
If your out of warranty they will want to charge you 28,000 + for a new motherboard.
They looked really hard for physical damage and water damage. But my phone is immaculate.
From the showroom got a world-class case and screen protector.
Not a scratch they could find. I don't even take my phone off my desk. Kids actually nobody is allowed to even touch it.
At first I thought it was something I did. But as you research update problems you will see many issues from failing audio to failing displays.
The local small-time repair shop service guys will say we can fix it. But they pull a con. They just reball the audio IC and hit it up with heat. There is a chance that it will start working but the repair will not last.
Last option is to put the chips on Ali express and replace them yourself. Which is what I will do if Samsung Shafts me.
I have e-mailed the Service head of Samsung to resolve the problem.
My logic is that a flag ship should last 2 years at least.
If they shaft me on this Samsung have lost a loyal customer from Note 4 days.
You could get lucky doing things like cleaning the ear phones, the cache etc.

Are you saying you fixed it or you do not plan to fix it. Was the issue ?.
Help me please. Just now my Redmi 9T doesn’t want to open after I accidentally rebooted it after charging. I already tried the long press power button also the volume up and down.
Is it overheated?
Will it power on with the charger connected?
It’s not over heated. No, the power won’t open even if I tried to charged it again. My friends said that it’s dead boot and idk what that is.
Sounds like a mobo failure.
Maybe someone here has seen this before.
Someone said from a group that it’s a system failure update.

I don't update my 10+... now you know one of the reasons why.
You may have no other option but to bring that thing to a service center near you
@maeyyang can I ask if you updated its system prior to the incident?
I also am encountering this problem you posted. How's your phone now?

brought it to the nearest service center, they said i have to wait for 1-2 months :/
they said that it's a mainboard's problem
I search videos on YouTube. The same issues occurred on Poco M3. They said that the issue is on the main board, specifically the power IC.The solution is just reheating the soldered IC on the board.
Here is the sample video:

That's a BGA. The heat has to be precisely controlled with a hot air station by someone that knows what they're doing. Too little heat/time nothing happens, too much you destroy it and the PCB maybe too.
These are the hardest SMs to deal with.
There's no guarantee that that's the problem and no way to inspect it without a factory test rig*.
All the contacts are underneath. It maybe another SM component that has the cracked solder joint. There are a lot of components in the power section. That maybe a common problem but not the only one...
*you can try gently pressing down on the chipset to see if it triggers an event.
I think it's better to just take it to the service center for the mainboard replacement and I heard about users who did the same method in the video had recurring problems after doing that.
Opening the back cover of the handset also voids the warranty and that's really bad.
