Use your backup (you made one right?)
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/windows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1068-dual-t2983295
i have gone up , down and sideways betweeen 4.4.4 and 5.0.2, with these, 1 thing to note updates may be done with locked bootloader, BUT downgrades require unlocked bootloader.

[Q] Downgrading from 5.0 CM12 unofficial to any 4.4.x official moto firmware?

I have a bootloader-UNLOCKED Moto X XT1058 and I'm running one of the really old CM lollipop builds that came out back in November.
I love Lollipop but I miss my Moto Display, and I was wondering if there was a safe way for me to downgrade back to a 4.4.x firmware so I could get it back.
My bootloader is unlocked, but I'm concerned about any issues that would arise from downgrading from a 5.x to a 4.x firmware. Is this safe?
Thanks

I used one of the first CM12 ROMs available in november and then returned to an official ROM for XT1058 (KitKat 4.4.4) and it worked flawlessly, so you should be ok.

I believe that CM only flashes /System. IF so, to return to a stock Moto rom, just boot into fastboot/bootloader, check the bootloader version, and the corresponding Moto rom, or a newer Moto Rom.
30.70 = original 4.2.2
30.71 = 4.2.2 OTA with camera update
30.B2 = 4.4
30.B4 = 4.4.2
30.B7 = 4.4.4
Umm. Custom ROMs have nothing to do with anything technically speaking. Unless it's an official Moto update that was pushed to the device via OTA or RSD, then it might change things depending on your carrier device. Downgrading is nothing more than flashing a ROM or restoring a nandroid in the case of ROMs via TWRP/CWM or whatever you use.
Problem one. The fact you asked this means you probably goofed up and never made a nandroid backup. If you did make one. Just restore that stock nandroid and you're set. If not. Time to RSD or fastboot back to stock.
You can always flash back to stock with RSD however, I too missed ambient display until I tried Dynamic Notifications. Totally replaces ambient display for any of the CM based ROMs I have tried.
Thanks for all the help, guys!
One last question, I'm retarded. I have the Rogers Canada version but the Rogers firmware (ROGERS-CA_GHOST_KXA20.16-1.26_cid14_CFC_1FF.xml) is apparently 4.4.2 - will it matter if I use a different firmware that is 4.4.4 (which corresponds to my Bootloader version)?

NEVER use a firmware that is for an older bootloader.. i.e. NEVER DOWNGRADE.
If bootloader version on your phone is 30.B7, then it corresponds with 4.4.4, so you MUST use a STOCK Moto 4.4.4 SBF!!!!
But if your bootloader version is 30.B4, that corresponds with 4.4.2, and you MAY use either 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 SBF. Just know that if you use 4.4.4, you will not be able to downgrade to 4.4.2 in the future.
If you can't find your rom.. check ALL of the sources linked in this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-tip-web-sites-official-leaked-roms-t2923347
Use the motox toolkit to downgrade your phone/return back to stock
Sent from my XT1053 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thanks for the help - so if I use a different 4.4.4 firmware that isn't Rogers it won't matter? I'm just concerned that there's a difference between them, my phone is Rogers but if I use a 4.4.4 firmware that isn't Rogers will it make any difference or is it not a big deal?

Are you asking about flashing a 3rd party rom, like CM? or a Stock Moto rom for a different carrier/model?
I would recommend against flashing a ROM not meant for your carrier/model... There are several possible outcomes which I've seen.
It works, but GPT.BIN version is slightly different and prevents your ability to flash back to the correct ROM for your carrier/model.
Flashes "correctly", but renders your cellular radio unusable.
works ok, but no differently, and no added functions.
Keep in mind, the above only holds true for flashing a different STOCK MOTO ROMS..
NOW, if you are asking about flashing a 3rd party ROM, like CM, or other, you should be relatively safe, and be able to flash back to stock if/when you wish.

I was hoping to reflash to my carrier's specific firmware, but I can't seem to find one higher than 4.4.2 on the ROM list or anywhere else
That explains a bunch though, thank you!

Could you explain in detail how do i get back to 4.4.4? I am fairly new to all this. i'll update my phone over OTA later on.
Can you help me with 4.4.4? Step wise? I know about the manual flashing but when i do so it was my bootloader is updated so i cannot downgrade.

That's true. You can not downgrade, if you are on a light, official side. But if you want to try dark side - flash your Asia region 4.4.4 without "gpt" and "motoboot" lines in its XML file. Once flashed 4.4.4, you can take OTA 5.1 on it without any problem.
A message to future users. Being on 5.1.1, then downgrade to 4.4.4, and taking 5.1 OTA - will brick. Don't do that.

[Q] will downgrade for xt1060 be possible? 5.1 to 4.4.4

Just curious if this downgrade is expected to be a problem. I want to try out 5.1 but kitkat works great for me right now, don't want to loose the ability to go back to it.
Thanks!

Actually since you have a XT1060 AKA Verizon model you cannot unlock bootloader which means you would be unable to downgrade your Android version as soon as you update to 5.1

Upgrading from 4.4.4

Hello
I just received my new Droid Turbo Blue from Best Buy and it came with 4.4.4 (build number: KDF21.128-15, system version: 21.21.15) so I think I'm lucky right? I'm coming from unlocked bl Samsung Galaxy S3 so all this mofo is new to me. What are the correct steps for upgrading to rooted 5.1 image? Do I need to flash rooted 4.4.4 image first or can I go directly to 5.1?

They all come with 4.4.4 stock. Do not accept the OTA upgrades if you want root. Check the (Original) Android Development sections for ROMs and methods.

I know about not taking OTA but my question is do I need to flash rooted 4.4.4 image with mofo first or can I go directly to rooted 5.1 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/computerfreek274turbolollipop-t3147455 by flashing img files (boot, logo, etc) first and then system image?
edit: never mind... I flashed rooted 4.4.4 first just to be safe and flashed rooted 5.1 after that. Everything seems to be fine.

To answer your question, no. As long as you flashed the supplemental 5.1 images (recovery, boot, etc.) before you flashed the 5.1 system image with mofo, you would have been fine. Glad it's working for you though.

Downgrade to kitkat with TWRP from Marshmallow

Hi,
I have Note 4 N-910T with Kitkat baseband version N910TUVU1ANK4 and the phone is fully unlocked i.e. I am using it outside USA and on other network sim not T-Mobile
I want to update it to
EPJ2 6.0.1 Marshmallow BL and Modem (as of October 2016, Latest)
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6...WRvVmJWTzItS0E
My question is
1. Should I first flash TWRP on phone and take back up and then flash the Marshmallow firmware ?
2. Will my phone lock to T-mobile network after update ? What If I flash some custom Marshmallow ROM, will it still lock ?
3. If it is locked or something bad happens, can I safely restore the TWRP back up I created ?
Please help me
Thanks
Aiden

You cant flash via twrp
First you have to flash 6.0.1 full stock firmware via odin to get marshmallow bootloader/baseband.
And dont worry it will not sim lock the device
After that you can flash twrp and flash any 6.0.1 custom rom
Keep in mind once you flash lollipop or marshmallow you cannot go back to kitkat. Your bootloader will be locked and impossible to run kitkat again.
And also your twrp backup of kitkat will no longer work.
I suggest you stick with kitkat cuz it's best for note 4 till date.many users are pulling their hair to go back but they can't. Marshmallow is good in performance but kitkat is best in battery life and speed.

But I was able to downgrade my W8 N4 from MM 6.0.1 to stock Kitkat 4.4.4 by Odin 3.09 without any problems, It doesn't lock the BL, I am not sure for other models but at-least mine BL was not locked.
