Hi guys, my problem is as stated in the title, Odin just will not let me flash my Note. My note is currently on (older) CM12 NightOwl alpha 5 ROM maintained by @bauner at this thread and wanting to upgrade to his newest beta release. Since it has no working recovery I have to flash a working one via Odin, I had problems with Odin not recognising the Note, so I reinstalled Kies and it appears it was a driver issue, so that being solved I tried flashing the stock ROM for my phone with Odin saying it failed, then attempted flashing Philz Touch (3 different versions) and failed those, tried adding the correct pit file and reattempted all previous recoveries and the ROM and those failed too. Since the NightOwl ROM is in .zip format I only assume I can install from recovery, oh I also tried flashing a kernel he supplied in the thread. I've also tried various Odin versions.
Any ideas?
Guess these forums aren't very active nowadays?
1st make sure there are no kies processes running in task manager.
Then flash philz XXLTA tar kernel file using odin.

Thanks for the reply. I've managed to flash my phone now but I did it on my old laptop, so the problem appears to be with my PC. I'm not sure what it is though, the only difference I could figure is that I was using a USB 3.0 port on my PC, is there any known issues with that? Everything else that could effect it is the same. Both had the same drivers, both didn't have Kies running, I even used the same cable, the port I was using on the PC is functional and transfurs data to other devices correctly... This has got me clueless.

Hi all,
Trying to update a friends SGS, and having a bit of a problem. I have sucessfulyl flashed GB 2.3.3 from ROMKitchen to it, however trying to flash any other kernel to it fails... sorta.
After flashing the ROM the recovery is always Samsung default (3e). I have used Odin to try and flash different kernels (Voodoo GB experimental - both the initial release, and the latest version, and several others)
The odd part is this seems to work, until the phone is rebooted - for instance today after flashing Voodoos latest, I reboot into the OS and checked Settings > About Phone, the kernel had updated to "curio (at) carton #Voodoo" but after rebooting this is undone..
Unfortunately the friend I am doing all this for was on tight schedule and had to leave, so there wasn't much time for experimentation, but has anybody seen this happening, and know what to do?
Kernel Flash
Did you make sure that in Odin you put the .tar file into the field PDA and not Phone? I flashed once curios kernel through the Phone-field and the modem did not flash correctly.
Besides that I never had any problems flashing a kernel. You can try the app SGS Kernel flasher from the market if you happen to have problems again.

Yeah, It's definitely in PDA. The odd thing about this all is I did the very same process on my phone, and it worked. On his no matter what I do his recovery will always end up at stock - even the kernel in the romkitchen package doesn't seem to be taking effect.
Then update recovery as always via Clockwork post .

Would anyone be kind enough to tell me how I can flash CM7 with Odin? I tried installing Heimdall, and I cannot get past error 12, and also error 3, so IDK what is up with that. Odin works, and I've used it to flash the overcome rom before. But I don't know in what order to flash the files, or if I need to reboot and flash more files, etc.
My tab is on ... GT-P1000, firmware 2.3.3, baseband P1000XXJPZ,
Kernel 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2, build number GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
Please. Thank you.
Why not just flash via cwr

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I tried that, and it did not work for me.
S, have you rooted the tab and installed CWM or just flashed the rooted kernel with CWM already cooked in?
Its no good just flashing to gingerbread.
Also, with Heimdall, you need to flash the drivers 1st. Its called Zadig.exe in the drivers folder. It won't work otherwise ( this will take a little while, it even says so).
If you want to go back to Samsung drivers afterwards, just put the tab into download mode again (after flash is complete) and rollback the drivers. This has worked multiple times on my PC using Windows 7 64 bit...
In normal running mode ODIN sees the Cappy, but when I switch to download mode it doesn't see it any more. I am trying to put my phone back to factory default so I can install CM7 but running into all kinds of problems. I did get the base system reinstalled using a One Click JAR that I found here on XDA. The phone seems to be ok with that.
ADB doesnt think there are any devices attached either when I am in download mode.
I did also try the Heimdall install methods and used their drivers, but that doesnt work either
All I am trying to do so far is get CWM installed
Any ideas?
Did you ever use Heimdall?

If you used a one-click jar file, I believe you used Heimdall, as Odin-based one-clicks would be .exe files. That being the case, if one of the one-click heimdalls worked, other ones should work as well.
If you don't mind me asking, which one-click did you use? What rom were you on when the other one worked, and what rom are you on now?
I installed this "SamsungCaptivate-SGHi897-UCKB2-Rooted-One-Click.jar" to get it to work in what I think is a factory default.
I am now trying to get the downloading to be recognized by Odin or Heimhall or anything/.
They all see the phone in normal mode but when in download they do not see it
Have you tried all of the USB ports on your computer? If you're on a desktop, make sure it's one of the ones in the back (directly attached to the motherboard). Also, if you haven't rebooted your computer, do that, and then see if the UCKB2 one-click sees your device.
You can also try the full heimdall package, as that has a tool that will quickly check to see if it sees a device in download mode.
ODIN doesnt see Cappy
Looks like the drivers from Heimhall mess up the ODIN drivers. I removed the drivers from System Drivers that the Heimhall installed and now the ODIN seems to see the device again.
Now I need to figure out what I need to put on the device to make it work

einstall the Samsung drivers. The zadig driver you installed for Heimdall causes problems with dl mode if you then try to use Odin.

I just figured this out. Now what CWM file does ODIN want? After all of this I am lost! I will start back at the first post on adding CWM I guess...!!
It's going to want a kernel with CWM baked into it, or you can flash the JF6-based one click file to get back to stock without the 3e recovery error. From there you can just root, then copy the rom you want to install to your internal SD card. Rename it "update.zip", and flash that.
If memory serves me correctly, that's the simplest way to flash from Eclair. You can also try to Odin in a CWM-friendly Froyo kernel, or copy the cwm file out of the AIO captivate toolbox (copy it out, don't directly use the tool).
To get cwm, use a kernel with cwm as jimtheiss said, in a tar format. Older Talon kernels were in tar, as was Speedmod, and I think xcal's reoriented kernel had a tar version.
Open Odin, use the pda slot for the kernel, uncheck reboot. Connect phone. When the yellow box lights up, hit start. When completed, pull the battery, reinsert battery, use button combo to get in recovery.

I can't seem to find Eclair with CWM. I did find a I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0 EXE with ODIN built into the EXE but whatever happens on that version ODIN didnt see the phone.
The ODIN 1.85 sees the phone, but I do not know what to download and what there downloaded file goes in ODIN.
I also ran the JAR file again and it did get back to 2.2 but then I dont seem to be able to get CWM working.
All I wanted to do it put CM7 on the phone. I guess I have to have Eclair or Froyo first to get the CM7? I think that is what I read. I havent tried it from GB
I would suggest following mrhaley's directions about flashing the kernel.
And here is the speedmod kernel.

My 2 cents....if you have so much difficulty using Odin/Heimdall, I would highly recommend staying away from CM7 or MIUI until you are really comfortable flashing stuff without hiccups. CM7 and MIUI are quite different beasts, compare to the ROms ur flashing.

The only thing he needs to flash with Odin/Heimdall is the kernel to get cwm. Its the same for most other GB roms. After you get cwm, its just flashing from cwm, with an extra factory reset and ROM flash.
Hello everybody,
I've been following some posts around the forum for some time now.
So I decided to flash my Samsung Galaxy S + with the newest stock firmware.
I first tried Odin, but that was no succes because VirtualBox couldn't handle it and just crashed when it started to upload the roms into my phone.
So it was bricked first, but got it back up and running.
I'm using linux as my OS, so of course I found Heimdall.
This seemed a nice tool, but I found out that the package format needs to be else then how the stock roms are delivered.
At last I tried to flas using the dd method.
I did the command dd if=...img of=dev/block/mmcblk0p.. bs=4096 for all partition images.
I managed to start the flashed roms. Only I found out that after installing some apps and after a few reboots the system starts to get faulty.
All of a sudden Play Store doesn't install apps anymore "Package Invalid" error, and for some reason also after each reboot more apps start to dissappear (get replaced by sd-card icon but unable to open or reïnstall).
Also I did a factory reset after dd'd the images into my phone, cause that's what everybody recommends.
The roms I've tried so far were XXKQB and XXKP1, both with the same issues.
The original firmware which came with my phone is: XXKPG.
Hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction in getting a newer rom onto my pda.
Greetings PsychoGame
I suggest you use a PC, im sure you will find one somewhere, friend/neighbour/relative. Then use Odin to flash.
Odin firmwares
Sammobile.com You should find I9001 firmware here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 Not sure if compatible with I9001
Or if your persistent have you tried here. **Check if compatible** If its an older firmware, connect to Kies and it should update to the latest.
JUST NOTICED THE I9001 CHECK THAT THE FIRMWARE IS COMPATIBLE
I agree with Talon, use ODIN on a windows-based machine... In any case you can always install windows on a different partition, but it's not worth it. For me the whole flashing process only lasted for 4 minutes, so just grab a PC somewhere and install it...
I also recommend KQE insted of KQB as the wifi is fixed
I've been trying to flash a custom ROM on my Note 4 for about a day now and every ROM I flash the WIFI wont turn on I will do my best to list in full the steps I've taken to do everything.
Started by trying to use Heimdall Suite to flash TWRP twrp-3.0.2-0-tbltetmo.img but it failed to download my device's PIT file. After some searching I told to use ODIN in place of Heimdall Suite Downloaded ODIN Odin3 v3.12.3 used it to flash twrp-3.0.2-0-trltetmo.img.tar. This seamed to work I have TWRP installed now so far as I can tell.
I downloaded CMRemix (CMRemix_trltetmo_MM.6.0.1_r61.v17.8_20160820-112925.zip) and flashed it after doing a full wipe. It looked like it installed correctly but during the initial setup it fails to turn on wifi.

Cm 12 & Cm13 required stock 5.1.1 lillipop bootloader and modem
If you are on mm 6.0.1 the wifi wont turn on cuz modem & bl is not compatible.
I am having the same issue with wifi not turning on. How do I know which bootloader and modem are required? Where would I get these?

I wonder if someone could expand on how I could fix this? I'm still in my learning stages and I have to admit, sadly I don't know exactly how to tackle this one.
Edit:
I was able to solve this issue by reading this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69480388&postcount=13835 and flashing the 2 files in the link provided.

This also solved my problem after trying many ROMs and none of them would turn on wifi, it was only available on stock. after updating the bootloader and modem to dok2 everything started working
