[Q] Is the popular Memory Management bug fixed? - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bet most of you are having Lollipop or any updated kitkat version!
I'm just curious to know that the popular Memory Management bug has been fixed or its still the same?

For me its fixed and ram management is way better than kitkat in lollipop

Never had any apps suddenly shut down on me on KitKat.

Well, actually these are two different bugs. The kitkat killingspree was a bug introduced by Motorola. The Lollipop bug on the other hand is a genuine lollipop problem. As far as I know, it's fixed in 5.0.3.

thanks all for the information !
I'm giving my THANKS

I think memory leak bug will fix in 5.1

No. bug

Not very good news for us if confirmed.. but expectable actually
In any case I don't get why it says 4.3 for us will come in July while we have got it already a few months ago.. Maybe that proves that source is not so reliable? Hopefully!!
So...
The budget Xperia E1 with 512mb RAM, 2x Cortex A7 and Andreno 302 will get a KitKat, but flagship cannot
At least Galaxy S3 won't receive KitKat also...
A new BUGGY 4.4.2? No thanks.
Perhaps there'll be a new 4.3 in July that will fix all bugs? I actually hope so

Better fixed 4.3 than again bugged 4.4
You are dreaming they haven t fixed the few bugs present in two-three months why they should in the (eventual) next release lol it seems they don't fully test before releasing and don't even mind to read this so big and useful forum where they could find bug lists immediately, results of heavy testings we do in their place etc

The explanation is only one: too many new devices in last two years and an undersized firmware support

Device is shutting down automatically

Phone is shutting down automatically sometime. What's the reason? I'm running 5.0.1 Please help
I'm having the same issue. I'm assuming it is the memory leak issues in 5.0.1. I don't have the time or the patience right now to get adb up and running on my machine to push 5.0.2 to my phone. Wish they would release the update faster to these devices. I was hoping for update notifications a day or two after Google releases them, but I'm getting them almost a month after. Not what I was expecting.....

I'm really worried :crying: Though it's not any carrier device. It had not happened on early days. Now it's happening :crying: I thought it's some kind of hardware fault. This happens very few times but it's annoying. Are you sure about the memory leak issue? Any source for the news?

I've read a couple places, can't remember where, that they were having memory leaks on the nexus 7s and that's one of the reasons they are running 5.0.2. I figured that if they were having leaks, we probably are too but we don't notice it as much cause we have more ram. I installed a team monitor app, going to keep an eye on my ram.

I'm really excited about 5.1 version, hope it will be something like Android 4.1 - much better Android 4.0.

That was ICS to JB this is still lollipop, i dont know if that makes a difference though.
Besides bug fixes and minor tweaks, i don't foresee anything that Android could come out with that would blow my mind.
Everything that could be done with a rom seems to have been accomplished. Now it's all just fancy bells and whistles on who can look prettier.
hope bug fixes

we are supposed to get silent mode back right. thats an additional feature being added not a bug fix.
According to Android Pit, yes, Silent Mode is back!
Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
General improvements in system stability
Improved RAM management
Fixes for sudden app closures
Improved battery management
Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
Issues with wireless connections fixed
Problems with Okay Google function solved
Notifications problems solved
Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
Other improvements and changes
Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users complaints, possibly for a higher version though)

::edit:: these are rumors and not actual changes. Sorry. Silent mode is up in the air.
I'll be happy with some RAM/Battery management, but I doubt it comes too soon since we haven't got 5.0.2 yet.
As you can see 5.0.2 it´s only for tablets....
Definitely looking forward to ram & battery improvements!
Wooooow! I can't wait!
i can't wait. i hope it also fixes the gps issues that 5.0 brought to my phone (as well as a few others). I've had to roll back to kk for now
I expect a better manage for battery, since I have android 5.0.1 it consumes a lot of energy and drains my battery
Still waiting on the Camera2 API being put to use. I Wonder if this will be the first step before an update to the Google Camera app
Is there any clue as to when 5.1 could arrive? Now the news is in the open and the software seems operational, would it be a matter of days, weeks or months to arrive on Nexuses...?

It´s seems it will be available this month.
Sadly i don't think 5.1 brings any fix to memory leak and battery life. cos from 4.4.4 to 5.0 brings no improvements except material design. i don't want to rise my expectations cos i don't want big dissapointments.
Lol WTF man?

Why would I want to go to Lollipop?

With lollipop clearly just around the corner for our devices, we need to decide if the update is worth it.
I'm normally keen to grab the latest, but running rooted Kit Kat gives me lots of flexibility and support. Going to Lollipop will mean a lot of incompatible mods (at the very least for several months) with no significant advantage I can see. As a photographer, raw capture is of interest, but I'm not convinced it will live up to expectations.
Where's everyone else at?
I'm with ya. Lollipop has been buggy on many devices. My nexus 7 was really laggy on lollipop.
I made sure I rooted before the ota update happened. I'll stay on KitKat until all the bugs have been worked out. KitKat still works great on this phone. There's no reason for me to update until lollipop is proven to be stable.

I've been running cm12 for the last week or so and I'm loving it, really stable and looks so pretty. The camera quality has gone down but I'm still taking amazing shots. Regarding mods xposed has already been ported to lollipop and is apparently working rather well. Raw camera shots will probably not happen sorry, no phones except the nexuses (5 onwards) have implemented the APIs and chances are Sony wont. Everything else is great, battery almost as good and no crashes at all. If you're comfortable with flashing ROMs try cm12 with a stock backup . Also this should have been posted in Q & A not general.

Nexus 4 doesn't handle RAWs.
Interesting. Does CM12 require unlocked bootloader?

i don't see any big reason why i have to update asap. i'm 100% satisfied with 4.4.4. it's a very stable platform which is improved all the way from 4.0.
i guess i will jump to Lollipop later maybe after it's been released for 6 months or so.

Yup! Just make sure you backup your DRM keys and you can always revert back to locked bootloader with DRM fuctions in place. This is assuming you have a Bootloader Unlockable=yes Phone.

How does Android N work on N6?

Hi, guy. Did anyone updated to Nougat? How does it work? Are the any critical bugs? Does all apps work well?
Of course there are bugs because it's a beta.I have been using it since it was released and I love Android N.

I asked only about critical bugs, I know few minor bugs, like duplicates of icons in status bar.

The final version of N hasn't been released for the Nexus 6 yet but I've been running DP5 as my daily driver since it was released and I haven't found any major issues. I haven't even had the duplicate icon issue you mentioned. I only have one app that crashes on the developer preview but the app developer has indicated he is aware of the issue and is working on fixing it. Overall, my experience with N (the developer preview) has been very positive and I expect that to continue with the release version when it comes out.

I concur with this guy. As long as there is no major changes from DP5 to full release this source is very stable. Hopefully a new radio to rule them all lol
I did not enroll my N6 until I had been running DP5 on my other devices with no ill effects. I downloaded DP5 on 8/10 and even though my other devices updated to Android 7.0 on 8/22 I I'm still waiting for the N6 to update.
I am having zero problems with DP5 on my N6.
Mine is running like a champ, no issues or force closes here...
I wonder if the official 7.0 will have the color changes as well. Cause on DP5...I do not see it in the tuner. I do like the DPI changes. I may not root for Android N
