If you access the "hidden menus" by long pressing the desktop, shortcuts, activities, CQAtest, Sim card....do you get an error stating the iccid's don't match?
I have been having a signal issue I'm trying to track down and wondering if this is the culprit. Basically what happens is I lose 4g and go to 3g even though the 4g signal is still very strong at my house (all other devices show full LTE). If I toggle airplane mode on and off I always get 4g back at full strength. Sometimes it will stay and sometimes I'll lose it again after a few min. When it happens it usually happens for a period of a few hours(mostly at night) and will be fine for 12 hours straight during the day. This is on a Moto X Dev edition on VZW.
Thanks in advance.
I added the SIM card item to my home screen in ADW and when I click it I see the app open, but it closes again right away, so I can't see what it says.
Edit: only other place I see the ICCID is in Settings > About Phone > Status, it is listed there, but I don't see a second number to compare to. Not sure what your phone would be looking at, because it doesn't have two SIM cards...
That's strange. I did it three times to make sure it wasn't a fluke and it worked each time.
I'm stock 4.4.4 using xposed and apex launcher. BL is unlocked.
Edit.
Not sure either. It shows an ICCID for the phone and then one for the sim. The numbers are different and it has a red error message below.

Hi, The phone icon at the top (next to speaker, battery, etc. icons) displays an exclamation mark (!), and when I tap it, it says 'No Service'. I clicked on Settings and went to the Network tab then clicked Find Network, but it still doesn't connect to any network. However, it still shows 3 or 4 signal bars when I tap it for the first time and then it brings up the larger icons, but it doesn't connect to the network.
I am on Orange UK, and the phone can connect to GPRS / 3G, but not to the actual network.
Sorry if anything is unclear btw
Thanks in advance
have you typed in the sim code?
Sorry, i'm not sure what you mean? I went into an Orange shop and he activated the Sim, and said it should be ready in 24 hrs, however it still does not work over 24hsr later.
any help for this?
i have the same problem...
sometimes i get reception, but only when the G-icon on top is not showing (but only H or E-Icon). I tried removing and disabling all 3G stuff, but still doesnt work.
Guys, any help?
My N1 randomly loses the cellular network and I see the triangle with the exclamation mark in the notification area.
I am not sure it's relevant but my N1 (a refurb from HTC) does have a dodgy SIM card slot since I need to stuff a piece of paper on top of the SIM card in order for it to be registered. Still once that's done and the back is on, there is no problem.
Anyway I will look down at the phone and see that I have lost the network. If I go to Mobile Networks/Network Operators I get an error "Error Registering on Network" or words to that effect.
The only solution is for me to either switch to Flight Mode, switch back to online mode and redo the search. The various networks usually then appear and I can choose my home carrier. A reboot of the phone also works.
This suggests to me that it has nothing to do with the SIM slot and it must be some other issues. I am running an unrooted phone on 2.3.4.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks
I'm not sure but I think it is probably related I would call htc and see if they can take a look at it cause for one they should not have given you a phone with a faulty sim card slot and it probably brought along some other problems.
Hi All,
I apologize in advance if that has been posted and responded to, but my searches have been unfruitful. My boss has the Motorola Droid 3, stock rom, NOT rooted on the Verizon network (in NYC). He will be traveling abroad to the mid-east and contacted VZW Global Services and they provided him with the SIM Unlock code.
I then proceeded to insert my AT&T SIM card into his phone and booted it up - in anticipation of the SIM Unlock Code screen so that when he gets to his destination country, all he'll have to do is insert the SIM card which he will purchase there.
Unfortunately, no such screen appeared. I was able to access the phone's other functions and was even able to go into Settings>Wireless Settings and switched the device to GSM/UMTS only (from the default 'Global' setting). Still, nothing occurred. I then forced it to search for a network (even though automatically connect was checked) and believe it or not, midway through its search, the phone completely rebooted on its own. I thought that maybe NOW, when the phone finishes loading, that it will ask me for the SIM Unlock Code. Well, it didn't. The phone just booted up normally and indicated that there was no service (bars with the red circle and slash through it).
We called Global Services back and they claimed that we will not see a SIM Unlock code for any US-Domestic carrier SIM cards (sounds fishy to me) and the SIM Unlock Code screen will appear ONLY when a Foreign/Non-US Carrier SIM Card is placed in the phone. My suspicion is that the Global Services rep doesn't know the difference b/t his a** and his elbow and was just saying anything that seemed plausible to get me off the phone. It would be VERY BAD if my boss travels to his destination and operates on the assumption that this will work once he inserts a foreign SIM card and for it not to work at all.
Any thoughts/insights into this would be VERY much appreciated and if this topic was already discussed on another thread, I would very much appreciate the link to that thread.
I have seen similar topics on other phone model threads, but none of the instructions in each of those respective threads had a solution that seemed applicable to this specific problem.
Many MANY thanks in advance!

You should most certainly see an unlock screen with a US based sim card. I used an old deactivated T-Mobile Sim card to get my unlock code prompt. try going to the phone dialer and enter *#*#4636#*#* - give it a sec and a menu will come up. In the menu scroll down a bit and you'll see a network selection bar. Tap the bar and select GSM Auto (PRL). You should immediately get a popup or perhapse after you back out of it. If not, scan for networks again. If it still gives you problems - PM me and we'll get it figured out.
network SIM unlock screen missing for T-Mobile US
Folks,
I am experiencing a similar issue as the original poster. No matter what I do, I can not get the Droid global (stock rom, v2.3.3) to attach to the T-Mobile network. If I follow the instructions"
*#*#4636#*#* - give it a sec and a menu will come up. In the menu scroll down a bit and you'll see a network selection bar. Tap the bar and select GSM Auto (PRL) ".
I see the screen momentarily flash the t-mobile network, then switch back to indicating that the network type is CMDA-1xrtt. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
BTW this sim works fine in a BB Bold 9000. Also it is just a simple voice/messaging sim - no data plan.
Never mind - after more research, seems I have a phone with the US carriers locked out. - off to see if I can update it

You can follow the guide to have the phone work and it will fix that.

You need to use a foreign Sim card, not an American one because Verizon disabled access to all other American gsm networks

I was to access the screen you mentioned however I was unable to get it to ask for my unlock code, any ideas?
I had the same issue. The unlock code was already put in. Though this may be, there is more you need to do to have it working on US carriers like AT&T.
The guide is here

I c, U have to use Non-US SIM CARD. otherwise U have to unlock the US radio first. but if U having trouble to pop the SIM Network Unlock Code screen, just put non-US SIM and set the mobile network from global to gsm/umts. these also apply to those whose troubled with subsidy lock, so they can input the code.
Worked for me with tmobile or att sim card in the phone. You have to backup rename the build.prop file in the system(Rename the old build.prop to build.bak) put the new build.prob file in the system, restart the phone and wa-la, it will ask you for an unlock code. Enter it give it 15 or so sec reboot the phone, select GSM/UMTS and wait 30sec to 2mins you will receive a signal.
so i did an RSD LITE / MyTool to re-Stock phone.
after Re-stock and get phone working.... 4 times a day i see a RED CROSS icon with no signal and tells meEMERGENCY ONLY Calls.
i has to place phone into AirPlane mode then off to get it to go away or wait 3 min for it to go away. then works fine....
is there away to fix this?
what can i do? its a Motorola Atrix HD Android 4.1.1 Blur_Version.98.5.38.MB886.ATT.en.US
i notice that every 13 minutes NOW, that this is the Reason i get no service:
every time i see the Red Cross logo my Network switches from GSM PRL to LTE/GSM/WCDMA once it goes to LTE/GSM/WCDMA i get no service.
so this tells me something is missing from somewhere. i think that after i Restock it something did not go in?
HOW DO I FIX THIS ISSUE? you would think that it should not be GSM PRL it should be working on LTE/GSM/WCDMA right? so why does LTE/GSM/WCDMA crash it?

I've had that problem before when it was all stock, no rooted and it was really annoying.
I couldn't find way to fix it so i bought another SIM card and it worked perfectly. Maybe you can try buying another SIM card or flash stock again

UPDATE
ok so like i been getting that Red Cross Icon & loseing Signal for No Reason right?
ok so i did some testes. i did a SIM Swap so check if it was the sim.... hours later poof its back..... :crying:
so i did some more tests... i got an H2O Wireless sim loaded $10 on to it & from 10pm to 11:39am i did not loes signal not once & did not get that red cross. with the net10 i got it like 5 times every hour. so this tells me 1. Net10 has faulty sim or 2. net10 is kicking me off the tower or 3. my phone is not net10 full compaitble or 4. i stated to Notice this issue AFTER i used up all my 2.5GB of 4G LTE. so i think that is going on is that im now registed on the network as a Badwith hogger so every few mintues they will toss me off to make sure im not streaming or downloading a big file. this makes more since they everything else. so at the end of my billing i shall switch to Cricket Wireless GSM and see if it happends again. :fingers-crossed:
I'm using two SIM cards in my TA-1046 running Pie, October 2018 patch, build 00WW_3_22D, MPSS.AT.3.1-00770-GEN_PACK-1 baseband, 4.4.146-perf+ kernel, etc... Stock out of the box.
On the status bar, I see three signal indicators, one of which always shows no reception.
When I pull down the quick settings, I see "No service - OperatorName1 - OperatorName2" scrolling at the bottom.
In Settings -> Network & Internet -> SIM cards, I see both my two SIM cards active, but when I tap op i.e. "Preferred SIM for Mobile data", there are 3 options in the popup - the first two are identical, and both of them are selected (despite being radio buttons).
I've googled this, and searched the forum, but apparently I'm the only one seeing this nuisance. It has no real impact on phone usage, it just bugs me to see the additional signal indicator all the time.
Attached screenshot for your viewing pleasure.
turn off phone, take out sim, restart, go to apps and find the settings app and clear the cache for the settings app. turn off, put in sim, start phone.
