[Q] Wifi not being able to turn on

Hi guys, this is a replica post which i posted in the wrong forum. Many apologies
Device: GT-I9305
system: LS JB 4.2.2
Baseband: I9305XXBLL5
Screen Stucked in "turning on wifi" when i slide to turn on my wifi.
This happens with my stock ROM, did a factory reset and did not solve the problem.
Decided to root and install custom ROM. The problem still persists.
Searched the web, got information on replacing WIFI files in /etc, did it and it did not work.
Tried sending in my phone to Samsung Service Centre in Bangkok (with stock rom), and the staff told me that they can try to fix it but not 100% sure to be able to resolve the problem. Thus bringing my phone back home again.
searched the web again and read something about EFS files.
there are no files in the WIFI folder in /efs in my situation.
IMEI and everything else is normal except the WIFI folder.
i will like to seek advise on how can i resolve my WIFI issue as i am really lost and not knowing what to do next.
EFS is not Wifi the wifi only contains mac info like /
5c:0a:5b:2b:7a:d3
WiFi is kernel based you can try a custom kernel or any kernel ,
Suggest flash stock rom as per the return to stock for warranty guide .
Test if it fails its hardware .

S3 LTE | KIT KAT No SIM Problem / no IMEI / damaged EFS (without Backup) FIX

At First
What you do with your Phone is up to you and i don´t take any responsorbility for any Damages you do/did.
Also i don´t know if this works for other Phones, since the S3 LTE GT-I9305 is diffrent in the Order of Partitions to other phones.
After Hours of Searching and nothing found...
I´ve finally got a fix for the No Sim/ No IMEI Problem.
Short Explanation:
I had to
1. reflash Original Samsung Firmware (Jellybean)
2. root and cwm it
3. then flash cwm 1.6.4.5 or TWRP
4. Flash AOSB (or any other Kitkat ROM)
5. Start
(6. Then it asked for my PIN )
6. Flash GAPPS
Done, now everything works again :good:
Problem Explanation:
I was Flashing AOSB for the First time and my Sim Card didn´t work anymore.
After Hours of Searching i saw a Post where someone said that the IMEI does´t seem to be there anymore.
I looked for it and there Realy was no IMEI.
I tried everything:
IMEI Recovering after Brick
Samsung Tool with Broadcom NV Tool
ADB Recovery of IMEI
but nothing worked.
After 4 Hours i decided i should reflash to stock. (Guarantee)
After Flashing done it didn´t boot, but after reflashing CWM any AOSB(Kitkat Rom) i got my IMEI back again.
Everything working fine since then.
If you are flashing 4.4 KITKAT for the First Time be sure you use the Right CWM or TWRP version !
or it will damage your EFS Folder and infact your IMEI so no Sim Funktion is there anymore!!
I was short before sending it in because i thought i wouldn´t get it to work anymore
( I´m flashing everything  and had problems like this already since years but this was almost to much )
Hope i could help anyone

Can someone please move this to S3 Lte Section ? (Sry wrong selected)
Or you could just flash another modem.. Since the "EMG" modem are changing the EFS partition to another format (Called EFS v2)

You use the red report button and ask a mod to move your post ,
I flashed another modem and there was no success, problem was that my efs folder was already there, but the files had wrong values

HELP: Upgraded from stock 4.2.2 to 4.4 and lost network connectivity

Hello All,
Tried searching for a case peculiar as mine, wasnt able to find one so here is the lowdown.
1. Xperia C6603 , originally had 4.2.2 stock ROM which was working fine with my local network. Dont remember the baseband version.
2. Used XperiFirm to download the latest firmware as reported in the list. Dont know what does the suffix RxD (R1D--R8D) means. Anyone please explain. As per the below screenshot downloaded version "C6603_Customized HK_1270-5695_10.5.1.A.0.292_R1D" .
3. Before flashing the downloaded firmware I flashed the dualrecovery from XZDualRecovery. I made a TWRP backup of the 4.2.2 stock ROM on an external SD card, for all partitions including TA,system, boot etc.
4. Used Flashtool to convert the downloaded (step 2) firmware "FILES" format to a flashable FTF file. Flashed the firmware , which went on smoothly.
5. At the first startup I got the following screen , telling me that it is a prototype device/firmware . I went on to see that the network which was working fine with stock ROM 4.2.2 was no longer available.
I tried to go to settings to check and search for networks, which shows available networks, but unable to get itself registered to the SIM providers network. Tried all the settings combinations in menu "*#*#4636*#*#" , nothing makes it work to get the GSM network connectivity back. It is supposedly on the correct setting of LTE/WCDMA/GSM which my current operator supports. Following is the "About" screen for current baseband version.
Tried going in the "Service" menu via "*#*#7378423#*#*" , with the following info, having an unknown modem configuration.
6. Tried reverting back to the old TWRP backup, for which I needed the TWRP recovery loaded on the phone. So ran the XZDualRecovery script again (with the new 4.4 ROM on the phone), however the script hangs around in the end and never reboots the phone with the TWRP recovery. So i am unable to revert and use the stock ROM backups .
7. I dont want to root/unlock the bootloader, however I tried installing TWRP via its "XZrecovery.apk", but it requires busybox (which requires a rooted phone). So i tried the rooting script from [GUIDE] How to root 10.5.1.A.0.283 / 10.5.1.A.0.292 [Locked Bootloader], but it also hangs around in the end and never delivers a rooted phone.
8. Tried looking around for assortment of xperia Z baseband files to check and see if flashing it separately can make it work, however to no avail the the condition persists.
Either ways having a prototype version on the phone which transmits all data back to sony is not desirable at all. So need to replace it for sure. Currently I am stuck in the middle without a clue of how to go back and restore the 4.2.2 TWRP backup, or to actually flash a "non-prototype" or retail version of 4.4.x .
Any help/guidance/suggestions to remedy would be appreciated.
Thanks.
=====================UPDATE
Ok followed the instructions at [GUIDE] How to root 10.5.1.A.0.283 / 10.5.1.A.0.292 [Locked Bootloader] , read carefully again to flash the .230 kernel. Flashed the XZDualRecovery and got the TWRP recovery back.
Restored the old 4.2.2 TWRP backup , hoping that everything would go back to normal. However with a successul restore and a reboot, I was amazed to see I still have no network connectivity. The baseband version is "9x15A-ACEFWMAZQ-30110068-44" . Another noticeable thing was that after the restore and first boot, I still got the "prototype device" message again, which was not there when I first booted the device with original stock 4.2.2 ROM before this flashing adventure began.
Any ideas what may have gone bad.
Thanks.
=======================================
Just got to know that my device is a BROWN device, its IMEI number starts from 0044 so it is a prototype. Any ideas is it really good or bad to have one. Also I see that after another restore of the original stock 4.2.2 ROM it is barely getting the signals indoor (1 bar only). The signal reception is very weak and sporadic . Should i keep the device or not and is there any remedy or network signal strength.
Thanks.

Firstly I love the detail you have provided which would save you and me a lot of time to pinpoint the exact problem and work it accordingly.
Firstly, I would suggest that if you have a box or any other receipt that shows your exact device name with its basebands. Where did you buy it from and what is your exact location so we can guess your region. This is the time to show it now. Also which basebands work in your location can also help us out.
The problem you have made it flashed basebands of a different variant which has resulted in loss of network. So to fix it we need, and there are three ways about it.
First, download Sony PC companion and try to repair your phone and see if that helps.
Secondly, download flashtool and ftf for your device (make sure you select the right variant this time. Choosing for wrong device can hard brick your phone. so beware) and flash your phone with it.
If all this fails, you go to Sony flashtool called Emma. Download it and try to flash it with that.
You can google how to use every tool on xda and I am sure you would find a lot of guides for that.

Help needed:strange S3 mini became sim locked after installing custom rom

Hello ,
I hope that someone could help me !
My friend ask me to mod a galaxy s3 mini i8190n .
It was bought in UK (used from a shop) , but from the splash screen i saw that it was original from french (SFR carrier).
Before do everything i checked the IMEI displayed and it was the same of the sticker behind battery (it was ok) and i saved the original firmware code .
The phone was working properly with an uk sim , so i didn't think that it was sim locked .
I rooted the phone and made a backup with CWM.
After i saw the last release of cyanogenmod 12.1 , i flashed TWRP and CM12.1.
I didn't try with sim inserted at the beginning . After all wipes the system was unstable (reboot , black screen etc ) .
So i tried to flash the Resurrection Remix (last release) that worked better .
With the last rom i tried 2 sims (perfect working in other two phones) and both are not recognized (no sim icon).
No message for unlock the phone on starting was displayed!
I thought at that moment that probably the phone could have some problem with flashed roms.
I decided to reflash CWM and restore the original firmware from backup . The problem persisted (no sim ).
So i found the original rom on sammobile and flashed it . No sims recognized as well !
Imei was the same with all roms , so i think that the EFS folder is good !
I read a lot and discovered that the sim unlock is stored in a protected memory area , so i think i couldn't delete the unlock ... If it had been unlocked before being sold. Am i right ?? And i would like to exclude an hardware problem .. because the phone was working properly before the modding!
What could I do for resolve this problem? The phone is not mine and i'm so sorry to have made a mess!
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
This is the orginal firmware version
Just wondering if you resolved this problem. I had the same problem - no SIM working on any custom ROM. I could only fix it by re-flashing stock Recovery in Odin, and then Re-flashing stock ROM also in Odin.

Xperia Z1 freezes very soon after startup!

Hi guys,
Since yesterday I got a problem that soon after startup my phone freezes. When it freezes I have to hard reset the phone(power button+vulune up). Before that my phone was working fine. but I wanted to reset my phone to clear up some space. I did that by going into the TWRP recovery and wiped cache, data, dalvik, internal/external storage and system. Because I deleted the system partition TWRP said there was no OS installed. This was very stupid that I wiped the system partition. But I thought that I could just flash the stock firmware back in flashtool so i did that. But now my phone freezes very soon as it started up. so I cant even complete the setup of the phone.
There was one thing that stud out to me. That was an error that I got when flashing the firmwares. the error was: warn - unit 2212 not found in bundle. Maybe this means something. I googled it but couldn't find a solution to the error message.
The things I tried:
-Flashed the stock firmware(centrel europe 1, central europe 5, customized netherlands)
-Flashed the stock firmware + flashed 2 different(kernel 1 and 2) custom kernels(centrel europe 1, central europe 5, customized netherlands)
-Flashed this kernel and installed this rom
-Flashed the boot.img from the lastest CyanogenMod 12.1 build and installed that rom
I did all this and it was always the same problem. I don't know what to do anymore. I hope you guys can help me. If u need more info I will try to give that.
Ive spend my whole day searching for an solution for this problem. But still I havent found any solution.

3rd: You should use the tool Emma. It's been free for a few years now. You can find it on the web, I remember having seen it on chip.de some time ago.
This tool is exactly what you need and has saved my phone's ass more than one time.
It basically un-does any software modification you've ever done and enables you to start from scratch!

Thanks you for your answer on my post!
Unfortunately Emma didn't solve my issue. I tried it several times with 3 different firmwares(those were the only available). I also relocked the bootloader and tried reparing the phone through Xperia Companion. But that gave the same result. I made a video were you ca see the problem. The link will be in the post 60 minutes after this post. I hope my problem will get solved!
Thanks for your time!
I think I found the problem!
So I think that the SD card is the problem. When I installed a firmware trough Emma I took my SD-card and Sim-card out and put them in my backup phone(so people could just call me etc.). And then suddenly the phone worked. I first put in my Sim-card in my phone so I could install whatsapp and have my contants loaded. Then I plugged my SD-card in and after 3-5 minutes the phone froze. So I think it's the SD-card. I am not sure yet but I am going to do some more tests with different SD-cards. I will let you know every update!
