[Q] Moto X Flash Not Working?

Hello folks,
I just noticed that my camera app flash and flashlight app don't work. No matter what options are selected the LED wont come on
Is there anything should look into before I call them and assume its a hardware failure?
Thanks,
Pete

If you have the tools and are comfortable with it, remove the back and see if the ribbon cable for the flash is correctly installed. Otherwise, you'll need to do a warranty claim through Motorola. Regular white and black Xs you can get from the carrier, but I'm not a fan of refurbs, so I use the manufacturer's warranty at all times when available.
You could try a factory reset first just to be sure, but it sounds like its a hardware problem.
The flash seems like it is an easy thing to replace, some of the replacement backs available on ebay come with them too, so maybe get a wood or different color back for cheap at the same time if you are gonna do it yourself.
Good luck

I appreciate all the advice guys...I went ahead and called Moto Support, all they could do was have it sent for evaluation and possible repair since its still under warranty. I tried to offer a credit card as collateral for a new device but they wouldn't go for it...
Not really interested in doing it myself since its only 3 months old, never dropped or anything, very frustrating.
Does anyone have experience with Moto's turn around time ? This is my primary phone not sure how i am going to do this

Weird, my Moto X led flash isn't working either. I've had it only a couple weeks, and it worked fine initially, but now it's not. I also haven't dropped it or anything. I wonder if it is a common issue.
Very Weird, maybe some update screwed something up ?
Does anyone know if there is a way of enabling the LED without the use of the typical apps to verify if its working ?

Just as an update, I took my phone inside the dry sauna and the flash worked, perhaps the heat had something to do with it.. Definitely not a software issue now.
As soon as it cooled off the, the flash stopped working again.
I've filed a repair claim, let's see what happens now..

My Verizon DE XT1060 started having a flash issue about a month ago. First time it looked like it was barely flickering and giving off no real light with a flashlight app, and same for camera flash. It came back on after a few minutes. Second time a couple weeks ago it was off for a couple hours, and I started filling out a repair form online, but as I pressed on it a little bit, it came back on. I got on their customer support chat and told what was going on and the support person told me to factory reset if it happens again to see if its software or hardware. Last night it lost function again and was off all day today. I reset to stock recovery and unrooted and tried to relock (no success) but the LED flash remained useless. I got on tech support chat again and was told they'd replace it under warranty with a "like new" same device. I haven't completely set it up yet, but afterward I squeezed the light firmly with my hand and it came back on. Obviously a loose circuit or something. I don't know if i should get the replacement or keep it.
I eventually had mine taken care of by Motorola support and it took them several tries. My advice is to make it obvious that it is intermittent and to take pictures of its condition before shipping.
If it under warranty they should handle it but be prepared for the process....

New Moto G 2014. Issues. Send back?

Hi, got my moto g XT1068 a few days ago, but have noticed two issues. 1) the screen will go black when I swipe to open the phone. This can go on for minutes, until for some reason, I swipe and it will open the phone. 2) the battery life is a lot shorter than expected. See screenshot. It was 100% about 30 mins before I too the screenshot. At one point, I had 34%, went upstairs, I had 13%, went to play a video and it hit 1%. I have only installed two apps, eBay and Yahoo. My thoughts are that I have a duff phone and ask for a replacement, or is this common behaviour?

Apart of the battery issue the thing with the black screen when swiping to open the phone would be enough for me to bring it back to where I bought it.
the phone was completed sealed in a box?
Wen you turn it on, it ask for you to connect to WiFi, insert email and password, the ting ti do wen you first turn a phone or just after a factory reset?
Just to now if the phone is really new. :good:
Hi, pretty sure the phone is new - sealed box from Amazon.
I have worked out the black screen issue. I have a flip case, and whenever the case bends behind the phone, covering the camera lens, the phone blacks out. Move the case away from the phone and it is fine. Strange though.

Dead microphone in speakerphone mode?

Hi Guys,
I'm experiencing a very strange problem with my moto x 2014.
A couple of months ago I sent my phone out to motorola to have the screen repaired. When the phone came back, i noticed that, while working fine under every other aspect (normal phone calls included), every time I switch to the loud speaker the mic stops working. Believing it was a bug due to the "update" they claimed to have installed on my device, I waited.
And waited, and waited, and waited...
Now, after a couple of security updates and the huge marshmallow update, the bug is still there. My question is this: could this be an hardware related problem? How many mics does a moto x 2014 have? Could the motorola techs have broken/not plugged a specific speakerphone mic?
I'm asking this because I'm wondering if unlock my phone, and try to solve this issue via a custom rom, or not. I wouldn't like to void my warranty and still not have a fully working speakerphone.
Any clue will be gladly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help...

I'm having the same issue. Got the screen replaced due to defect. Mic hasn't been working in speakerphone mode ever since. Will be going to the Service Centre tomorrow.

Took the device to the service centre. They replaced the motherboard. Mine was under warranty, so no charge.

[Q] I have replaced my screen twice but the touch screen stops working after 24h

Hi friends,
A week ago I decided to finally replace the cracked screen of my phone. The phone was perfectly working, with the exception of the annoying lines everywhere around the broken glass.
I went to a repair service (not official) to have it changed for a new one (glass+lcd) and got it back repaired after few days.
During the first hours the phone was working just fine, but I noticed that the touch screen was slowly getting erratic. After few hours it was just a bit erratic but ok. 10 hours later it was almost impossible to use already. 24 later it didn't respond anymore to the touch.
I went back to the repair service and asked for a new screen that I got for free because we assumed it was a problem of the new screen. Problem is, it happened exactly the same with the second one!! And now, 24 hours later, it doesn't work anymore.
I have done a factory reset. I have flashed new ROMs, I have flashed back to the stock ROM, updated it, nothing has changed so it totally looks like a hardware issue.
My question is:
What may be causing my new screens to go mad after working perfectly fine during the first hours?
Summary:
My Moto G 2014 works perfectly, but it has a crack in the screen
Decide to go to a non official repair service to have it changed for a new one (LCD + Glass)
First hours with the new screen: All works fine
Slowly, the touch screen becomes more and more erratic
24 hours later the touch screen is useless (it still reacts to touch but totally mad and weak)
Decide to have it replaced again (this time for free)
With the second new screen, we test that works fine, and to confirm that is not the phone, we install back again the first new screen, verifying that it doesn't work.
Finally install the second new screen. All seems to be perfect!
Experience again all the previous points
What should I do lads? Did the repair service **** my phone? ;^(
It could be that water somehow got in (speaking from experience).

How would that explain that the newly replaced screens work fine for the first hours and then gradually stop working?. Also , I can't imagine how water got in the phone for the last weeks, besides, it works perfectly, is just the touch screen.Water would most likely **** more things. no?
Has anyone experienced the same problem as me?
thanks!
Is it genuine?

The screen? I don't actually know. But after changing twice the LCD seems unlikely that the LCD was defective. It may be more related to my phone (although I can't understand what) and something the guy of the repair service ****ed.
Any thoughts?
thanks for the help

Double tap to wake not working after LG repair

My phone had the infamous 505 number and died a month ago.
Sent it to LG for repair and after TWO repairs (it wasn't fixed the first time), it works.
I've noticed that the double tap to touch doesn't work MOST of the time now. It used to work without any problems before but now I can start tapping it 30 times and it won't wake up. I did have it wake up a few times in my month of testing but it's basically a 5% chance so I stopped using it.
This is ROM independent. Does it on stock as well as CM13. I'm wondering what could it be as I am hesitant to involve LG again seeing as it takes them a month and the phone may be out of warranty now.
While the long turnaround time for repair is a problem, your phone is not out of warranty. 6/1/2015 was the T-Mobile launch date. Also, according to the LG G4 subreddit, the warranty for the G4 was extended to either 15 or 18 months due to the bootloop issue and by extension should cover all other phone defects as well.
Hi Alienz, mine is also a 505xxx. I bought a used one . After an update to MM ,the camera and the dialer stopped . i' m in algeria and Lg won't repair it. I have to find a independant to repare the phone. Please tell me if it was a hardware or software problem .
