Data issues with Lollipop on Moto X 2014 - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently updated my Moto X 2014 to Lillipop and am running into a few snags that i didnt have with 4.4.4 Kit Kat. (Verizon)
I recently realized that while on a phone call, i can no longer look up something on the internet or send anything data related while on a phone call. I realized this when i was talking to a buddy on the phone and need to look something up for him and discovered that i couldnt use data during calls.
I was thinking about it, and when i was on 4.4.4 kit kat, i had no issues using data during a phone call, but with the update to lollipop, that feature seemed to have gone away.
Is this something verizon is doing with the coming of their VoLTE Advanced Calling update, or is there an issue with my phone? I never had this issue before with the 2013 Moto X.
Thanks

Yes, it is because of Advanced Calling. You can still use wifi while you're in a call, but you cannot use cellular data while in a call. Supposedly (hopefully), we will get Advanced Calling on the next update in February (cross your fingers).

I would like to revive this older post. I've been on lollipop since last year.. Xt1096 so no root... Within the past 2 weeks when the screen is off and a phone call comes in I get this toast every time. If the screen is on is doesn't appear. It's driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Google + 30% (or so) cpu usage.

Hi there.
I recently bought a moto x (att, although I use it in Argentina, should have chosen tmo for bootloader unlock I guess...).
From time to time (after some reboots or after a night of being in the charger, with wifi normally), I find it kind of hot.
Using OS monitor I saw that Google+ was using around 30% cpu (didn't notice if there were notifications or something).
When I open google+ it is kinda slow and normally has unread notifications in the bell.
If I swipe it off the recent app list, it gets fixed, until the next time it happens.
I tried wiping g+ data to no avail.
I now have set better battery stats and watchdog lite to monitor it more closely.
My phone is rooted on 4.4 and with xposed framework (attached picture for modules). I have now left only gravity box enabled just for the sake of it.
Any ideas? Googling around I saw some old posts of people with this issue but I think it was from 2012

do you use g+ for photo backup? That would be my first guess, though it shouldn't drain forever, only until photos are uplaoded.
I use it, but if I take photos, I don't see that much cpu use, I think.
Then again, I am using the option for smaller quality, if the phone does the conversion...
I will run some tests

It was not location sharing or auto backup.
No idea what it was, but it is gone after removing the updates from the app and returning to the version that comes with att's 4.4 rom

VoLTE update

I have an unlocked Phone running on VZW. Should I expect that at some point I will get VoLTE.....or should I just return it while I can and get a VZW version?

Did that a month ago. Waiting for the update 5.1 to be able to use it

Running stock 5.1 now on motorola-purchased phone. My VZW account is provisioned for "advanced calling" but not seeing it function on the phone at this point. I know my Droid Turbo was pushed a VZW update when VoLTE was available. I assume that is not supposed to be the process on a N6.

Try following the instructions in these threads. I have it currently working on 5.1

Also the VoLTE feature only works for Verizon to Verizon calling and with other phones that have the feature. The best part of the update is the simultaneous Voice/Data capabilities.

Nexus 6 5.1 update for T-Mobile

When the links were first published for 5.1, I flashed and installed the update through fast-boot and I am currently on 5.1 successfully. I have a t-mobile sim and I purchased this device from them. Today, they are pushing the 5.1 update which is the same as what I already have, but in addition, they are adding VolLTE. Now Im not sure if I already have that due to previously flashing it, or am I supposed to re-flash the T-Mobile variant of 5.1. Anyone have any input?
volte is voice over lte, making and receiving calls on lte. do you have volte?

when you make a phone call, does the phone stay on lte or does it change to H or 3G during the call?

Never-mind, I looked around and apparently the build number for the nexus 6 t mobile carrier is different (LMY47M). And Yes, its LTE. So i guess I just have to wait till the new factory images are posted to Google and then eventually side-load the update.

[Q] Android 5.1 OTA on Verizon

I have a Nexus 6 that I purchased directly from Motorola and have running on Verizon's network. I have not yet received the Android 5.1 OTA update. Shouldn't I have received it by now? If not, when should I expect it?
No offense intended, but let's answer this question - What version of android SHIPS on Verizon issued Nexus 6's ?
They have no need of an OTA. It comes with LMY47E installed. (if you want a higher build, or 5.1 in general, see below)
You'll have to flash a 5.1 image for it.
Alternatively, you could also try the no SIM installed boot up after a factory reset and see if it gets it from Google.
Probably Never
For some background see the following post. You will be very interested in the Android Police article.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/ota-requires-carrier-approval-t3067283
Hope this helps ....
Unless you want to do the get on wifi and pull the SIM card dance (after you factory flash) you might want to read up on doing it manually yourself.
I recommend using the Nexus toolkit to retain your user data and moving to any version Google has available.
I suppose it couldn't hurt to pull the Verizon SIM, get on wifi, reboot your phone and see what happens.

I'm wondering which version of 5.1 I should be grabbing. I think I'm going to do the side-load instead of pulling my SIM to get it to update to build D. Will build D have the HD voice feature?
What do you guys recommend?
The only thing that's important is the 98R baseband radio I believe that comes with D and E. once you have that you can flip to any system version after D you would like. I am currently running version i on Benzo and HD voice works fine.

Mystery Data Usage

My data usage shows the majority of my data coming from "Android OS." Is it normal? Can I limit it?

My wife, son, daughter, and I all have Nexus 6. Daughter's is stock 7.1, wife and son is CyanogenMod 13 (6.0.1), and mine is LineageOS 14.1 (7.1.1). This happened to my wife and son a few days ago, but not to my daughter or me.
Googling reveals that plenty have experienced this in the past couple of years. So not a new or particularly rare thing. The suggested solutions often involved installing firewall software. Another was to turn off sending 'Usage and diagnostics' (Settings / Google).
In Android 7.1.1 (not sure if 7 or 7.1) you can 'Disable all cellular data access' for things. Sadly, that doesn't help the affected devices in my house.

I'm pretty sure this started when I switched to Cricket. I don't remember anything using data like this does when I was on MetroPCS (T-Mobile).

I'm certain that it isn't carrier related (I'm guessing that "Cricket" and "MetroPCS" are carriers?).

I'm going to strip it all down and reinstall the ROM.
