I have the strangest story to tell. I'm not sure where to post this but I do have a N6 and this happened with the messenger app on the N6.
On Friday I got a random text message from a number I did not know. The message simply said "OK". I meant to ask who it was but it slipped my mind as I was at work.
Then today I get another text message from the SAME number. I quickly realized this was a screen shot of my wife's Samsung S3. She was sending me a screen shot of a text she has gotten letting me know I had a script to pick up at the Pharmacy.
OK no big deal other than I did NOT know this number.
So I texted her on her Google Hangouts and asked why she sent me the texts from this strange number I did not know about. My first thought was Gvoice but she said NO I sent it from my cell. I said well obviously, but do you have GVoice installed or something? She said no.
I was thinking she had installed it and made a number and did not realize it or something so I screen captured the text showing the message from a number I did NOT have in my contacts. I've NEVER seen this number before either. I sent her the image.
She hadn't replied yet so I called the number and this girl picks up. She simply says hello? I said hello who is this? She tells me her name and said the company she works for.... It's my wife's office.
So I message my wife again and say so I called that number, your secretary picked up??? She said um that is one of our unlisted landlines here at the company, we have about 15 of them. She goes on to say that she has NO IDEA how it would be humanly possible for that number to send me a text but she sees my screen capture clearly showing it did. She is very instant on the fact she sent that text from her cellphone.
I Googled the number and it was not listed, comes up as a land line being owned by a service provider called BROOKS FIBER COMMUNICATIONS OF MICHIGAN.
Her phone is not connected to any networks at work other than she gets her Exchange email.
How is this even possible? How could my wife send me a text from her cellphone and it appears on my phone as a land line from her work that isn't even her phone? I can bring the message up and look, it's clearly a number not in my phone and if I call it, someone at her company picks up.
Do you have any enemies in the NSA? Sounds like someone there is trying to mess with your head lol

That is whatI told my wife! This is a small company with a lot of Govt. Mil. and NASA contracts, I told her the NSA/CIA relay must have messed up or something!
But seriously.... This makes NO sense. She couldn't send a photo over the landline if she wanted lol.
I'm being 100% serious on the OP too. This actually happened.
How *exactly* did she send the messages? I.e., from what application...? Is her cell phone being provided by her work?
How about a network extender of some sort that reroutes through their phone system?
A glitch in the matrix. Carry on

Anyone know what this is... strangely enough, I am very reluctant to download software recommended by random text messages.....
i received that same text message...didnt bother downloading because it was from an unknown sender
Also think about this. IF AT&T was offering free software wouldn't they put it on wireless.att.com?
The link redirects (or tries to before timing out) to http://wap2.cingularextras.com.
Trying to go to http://www.cingularextras.com takes you to http://mediamall.wireless.att.com which is pretty much where you'll end up trying to 'Shop' from http://wireless.att.com/home.
You can go into your Account and uncheck all the marketing options. I used to get text messages for promotions and what not and I removed all of them and now I don't get anything.

They certainly wouldn't distribute over a text message from a domain called wappush.net. I'd be more than reluctant to download it. It screams of a virus.

Thought I would throw it out here before I deleted it, though....
Very Suspicious!

Sure tell everyone the Code. Now scammers know to put att in the first three words. And At&t Really should be smart enough not to use such an unidentifiable website. The should use wappush.att.net or something. I'm still very suspicious of this.
anyone know of any spoof apps that can change ur number for txts or calls ...isaw on one the market a while ago but it was pay per min...dont like that idea wouldnt mind buying an app but to pay by the min could get costly...just looking for an app to use is sound boards to mess with friends..
I don't believe it's possible for an app to do such a thing without using a 3rd party route (in otherwords you will have to pay for it) as caller ID and sms transmission is all controlled on the Network side of things. Even when you hide your number it is still identified to the network you are calling it just hides it on the other end from the call recipients phone.
cool thats what i thought...
I believe the app you are looking for is called 123SPOOF. It is free for a 2min call which i believe is long enough to mess with someone pretty good. When you call you have to listen to a 30 sec Ad then it connects you.
Ive used a few times works great and really freaks people out.

So about a month ago I bricked my Galaxy Tab and had to send it in for repairs. When it came back, it had an about two inch-long vertical gap between the upper-left side of the frame and the screen wide enough to be able to stick a fingernail into. They had us send it in again, and when it came back it looked like a brand new unit. Although according to them they just replaced the frame. Now however it appears to have a shorter horizontal gap along the right-upper frame. It's not as wide either, but in sunlight you can kinda see into it and glean something small and metallic in there. I don't seem to remember the Tab having had any of these gaps to begin with. I was wondering if anyone can say whether this is typical of the tab in general? Or of units that have been repaired?
Thanks, Nir
Mine is a brand new tmobile tab and that aint normal
Imagine what contaminents can get in there now. Get it fixed.
Hit the thanks button if I have helped

Can you post some pics?
I wasn't sure I'd be able to capture it using my camera, but this picture turned out pretty well: (can't post direct links apparently, sorry for the hassle) www dot slsknet dot org slash galaxy-gap.jpg . You can really see the separation between the frame and the screen. What's not apparent from the picture is that you can shine a light directly above it and see into the device, which as serpentine pointed out makes me worry about dust particles and such getting into it. I'm about ready to give up. Verizon won't replace the device and Samsung clearly can't fix the problem. Paying that early termination fee is starting to look pretty good.
For everyone else

Hrmm, i would complain to whoever you need to, to get a replacement, your provider should really replace it as its "defective"
Thank you, I'll try to talk to Verizon one more time. One way or another I should have some kind of resolution soon.
Cheers, Nir
Well, we spent the morning being bounced back and forth between Verizon and Samsung. Neither company is willing to replace the device, Samsung is offering another repair but as this would be their third and we sort of lost faith in their ability to not return the device physically damaged, we said no thank you and decided to have Verizon suspend our account. Fortunately the lady we talked to was sympathetic to our situation and put our device on the stolen/lost list so we can keep it suspended indefinitely. I'm just really glad this headache is finally over with.
Thanks, Nir
So just curious how does this solve your problems if its been classed as stolen?
Sent from the depths of Hell using XDA Premium
Well, my understanding from what the Verizon representative was saying is that since the device is marked as missing, I'm no longer obligated to resume my plan once it has been suspended. I'm not getting the $200 I paid for the Tab back, but at least I don't have to pay for a monthly plan on a device I'm no longer interested in using. And I don't have to pay the exorbitant $350 early termination fee.
If it was "stolen" will they send you a new replacement? lol
I don't think replacing a stolen unit is in line with their "sucks to be you" policy I guess that's what the indefinite suspension is for.
I've been use Go SMS Pro for few month, but today something weird happen, there is a red love banner, animated on the top of my message, it happen in less than 10 seconds. Anyone know what's that?

Valentines Day reminder !!??
It happens whenever you send or receive a text with "i love you" written in the message. It would also snow when you said merry Christmas... I'm not sure if it happens everytime or just near the applicable holiday, like Valentine's day - I haven't had a chance to send or receive merry Christmas in a while
The "What's New" section on the Go SMS entry in the android market mentions that the 4.32 update adds an easter egg for valentine's day. That would be it I suppose!
That looks funny
Gotta send my girlfriend a sms
I started noticing this a few days ago. My girlfriend also uses GO SMS but it is not doing it on her end. I'd actually like to find a way to disable these if anybody has found it in the menu (I'm not having much luck).
I think there is no option to disable it.
It's an easter egg and build in the source code.
It might be disabled after the next update.
thanks everyone for the info, i got it now. it's really depend on the word we use in the sms and also the date where near to the holiday event...

Gemini, in your image above, it looks like your Go SMS is set up to show when someone has opened a message (the little check marks to the right of messages). How do you set that up? I cannot find the option.

Stop telling your girlfriend that you love her
No... just kidding I'm sure it'll be disabled in the next few days, with an update.
I was texting my friend&&did not say "i love you" in any way , shape , or form , but the animation still showed up multiple times ! Even when I was just checking back to the convo .
It was issued back by christmas, they are easter eggs. There's several as far as I know, key words: Merry Christmas = Snow, I like you = Heartbeat and heart. same for "I love you" I havent found anymore yet.
