This is driving me crazy. My wife's S4 Active will skip to the next track if it gets bumped, nudged or shaken... but she has motion turned off and there is no option for motion control in the music app itself.
Google comes up with nothing. How do we turn that "feature" off, it's a pain when driving in the truck and using the phone to bluetooth music and it skips to the next track with every bump.
Edit to add: this happens in the stock Samsung music app, but I cannot find if it is a system setting or app setting.
Well, I must say it is at least comforting that I'm not a total idiot considering nobody else has an answer to this either.

I have a Tilt and I wanted to know if this is normal or if there is a fix.
When playing music the screen will not turn off and uses up batts pretty fast. It jumps to the most dim backligh setting but is still clearly on. Is this normal or is there a music player that doesn't cause this issue?
Forgive me if this has been posted. I did a bunch of searching but there was a lot of noise regarding music skips and glitches.
I assume you are talking about the built-in Windows Media Player. In the options you can assign a button to turn the display on/off. Hope this helps.
hi there. while using the built in media player i have found that i can actually press the power button momentarily and put the device to "sleep" while still running media player. it will jump a touch but then resume. if you are using bluetooth headphones you can still control volume, play/pause and skip track. this makes the battery last much longer.
found the toggle screen option. Thanks guys!
Just rooted 5 days ago with AOSP baseband version 2.42.02.10.29, Kernel Version 2.6.29.2, Mod version aospMOD 0.9.9.2 and am just finding my phone is bugging out!
OK!
1. The lock screen. Initially to unlock the phone, press on it and slide it to the right. Now, when I press on it, instead of being able to slide it, it jumps around to the left back and forth and is VERY difficult to slide to the right. It acts like it's avoiding me and trying to escape. Took me over a minute to unlock my phone this morning. When I first rooted, it was easy. Now, not so much.
2. Thrilled that I can now voice-dial with my motorola blue-tooth, I am getting the weirdest thing. When my blue tooth is paired and connected, if someone calls, the phone doesn't ring at all, it just rings through the bluetooth (well, the voice notifies me) and I get "call on line one". I have set my contacts for individual ringers so I know who's calling by listening to the song, but now, no ring at all through the phone. Phone is completely silent. If I unplug the bluetooth, the phone rings, but when bluetooth on, no ring. This never happened before. I have triple-checked all the settings and cannot make sense of this. Before, I could have the bluetooth on, and the phone would ring according to the individual ringers.
3. When someone calls and I talk to them through bluetooth, if they hang up and I don't immediately end the call through the bluetooth, my music player leaps into life and starts playing through the blue tooth. Not fun to get a deafening song blasted through your eardrums - this is the music player that was loaded when I rooted, I have again checked all settings and cannot figure out why this happens. So now, if I don't end the call immediately manually, a song starts blasting, and I have to unlock the phone (which is tricky at the moment), open up the music player and manually stop the song and exit out of music player.
My loaded apps are as follows (ones I got from Marketplace):
adobe reader
alarm clock
Astrid tasks
B-Folders
Barcode scanner
convertpad
google sky map
home switcher
latitude
maps (google maps)
memory (game)
Multicon
navigation
news and weather
places
Shootme
Solitaire
Swiftkey
Titanium Backup
Uninstaller
Vizbattery
Wordup! (game that I am absolutely hooked on)
Yelp
Thoughts anyone??????
try a full wipe and reflash the rom/gapps, etc.
Thanks. I might try that if I get desperate, but it's such a hassle, wiping everything and then getting the phone back to the way I like it. As a last resort, sure... but I'll see what happens. Just so you know, suddenly, after not using my phone most of the day, the ring tone suddenly started working, so that with the blue tooth on, the phone's ring tone actually rang - so that's a good thing, even though at the moment, I can't unlock it at all - the unlock button just leaps away from me when I touch it. oh well.
Any progress on it now that a few days have passed?
Is there such thing as a setting or application that will play some sort of notification when my headphones are plugged in?
I use my headphones when I commute, and 90% of the time, my phone is in vibrate mode, which means when I'm walking or something, I usually won't be able to feel the vibration.
However, I'd like some sort of notification feature (sound, etc.) that can play through my headphones.
Is there something out there that can enable this?
FYI, I'm running CM 7.0.2.1
Thanks!
Hello, i've got this problem right after EMUI 3.0 update. When a notification pops up - sometimes after the sound of the notification, mp3's from my internal storage starts playing. Even if no music app (or any apps) are running on the background at that time. There's no other way to stop that than bring down the ringtone volume (not media volume!) and wait a few minutes or restart the phone. It happens only about 1-2 times a day, but it's very annoying. Anyone else got this problem?
The only mention about this problem i've found is here.

- Sometimes music player will start playing a local file randomly when you have a different music app running like digitally imported, while using the smart cover.
Im not using the smart cover, but i've figured out that the smart cover function was set on, so i turned it off and i will see if it will get better.
did it help? i have the same issue every time i get a facebook notification.

Hey guys since I've owned this phone I've had constant problems with the phone automatically adjusting the volume usually way down. When not on Bluetooth it's less pronounced but still occurs, I'll turn on a podcast and the volume will drop on the phone to like 20%.
On Bluetooth, the problem becomes an absolute nightmare. Every time I switch apps, or even open new browser tabs the volume settings appear on screen and randomly jump either up or down. If I'm moving quickly between apps or browsers, this can occur multiple times (up or down) within a 5 second window. Pretty much anytime I turn on audio I have to turn the volume all the way back up.
I've disabled Bluetooth absolute volume in dev settings but don't see any other fix for this.
Also, the problem is independent of player. Spotify does it, stitcher does it, VLC does it, and pi music does it. And even when I'm connected to Bluetooth and doing nothing audio related but just switching between apps and browser it will be jumping the volume levels around and popping up the audio slider on the right side of the screen.
What Bluetooth device are you using? Perhaps it uses touch controls and they're acting up
