Currently I have the S4 Active I537 under AT&T. It's rooted but you can't do much with roms even with safestrap bc of the locked bootloader. I'm contemplating getting another device better yet a new service provier bc AT&T is cracking down on everything. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I keep AT&T and get a new device or just get a new device and service provider? Anyone know anything about Straight Talk? I want to be able to do more when it comes to customization, mods, etc.

I have a Sprint HTC One.
Sim Unlocked,
Rooted
Bootloader Unlocked and other things, basically free from everything except Sprint.
Is there anyway I can completely remove everything off the phone as if coming out of the factory and turn it into an ATT or Verizon ect phone?
Because even thought I completely have it free from everything possible I still cant use it with any other carrier. I cant use it with Sprint this is why I wanted to use if with other carriers, I don't care who just anyone else except Sprint.
I cant seem to get a straight forward answer.

You could use it on T-Mobile or AT&T if it's sim unlock and you are in an area where it has the proper 3g bands. Another option is to flash to to boost, verizon but that will require a donor phone unless you know someone who will add phone into system
hey guys, so I decided to switch my service to AT&T. I really don't like relying on wifi calling as much as I do and aT&T has some good pricing. On the plus side I can also take all of our phones and use them on their network but I need to know a few things about flashing. Will I need to flash anything after I unlock or can I still use the roms I love? I've never had to unlock or use a phone on another carier so not sure what to expect. Any help would be great.
No. I use dynamiccat ROM. Just need to set the APN for att and you are good to go. Nothing different.
I use AT&T with the T-Mobile N4. Haven't run into any issues and the APN has always been auto-loaded, so you should be fine.
I'm glad this is fairly recent. I actually just switched today when I got my unlock code (I'm working for at&t now, but not in mobility). I've only been able to pick up HSPA+, not LTE. Any way to fix this?
There are a bunch of threads about this, but this is a good start

Hey all! Forgive my ignorance, it's been a long time since I've done anything with firmware on Android phones (since I flashed a custom ROM to my Motorola Droid X about 10 years ago, lol). I've been poring over these forums for a few hours now and trying to piece some information together, but I could really use a hand from some more experienced folks.
Here's my situation: I'm in the U.S. I own an AT&T SM-N950U, and a Verizon SM-N950U. The Verizon phone is no longer being used (since April of 2018). I accidentally dropped the AT&T phone and heavily damaged the screen/digitizer and chassis, and would like to go back to using the Verizon phone, but on AT&T's network. I swapped the AT&T SIM to the VZW phone, and I was surprised to see that after a reboot, the AT&T splash screen came up, and after a factory reset, acted just like a new AT&T phone. It will send and receive data, SMS, and phone calls. However, the phone is still running Oreo, and when I tried to update it through OTA or through Samsung Smart Switch, it said that the phone was up to date. A little digging in the settings shows me that the phone is still considered a VZW-branded phone (ATT/ATT/VZW), and I believe this is the reason why I'm not able to receive the OTA updates. I also noticed that I no longer get 5G service, and I'm worried that there may be other functions missing too. I've seen BlueFox721's guide on carrier switching, and decided to do a bit more research before making an attempt, but I figured I would ask some questions.
First off, my main goal is to get this VZW Note 8 to work with all intended functionality of an up-to-date AT&T Note 8, including future OTA updates, bloatware, the whole deal. Is this actually possible?
If it is possible, can it be done without tripping Knox and hindering Samsung functionality?
I've read that root isn't possible with any bootloader past v3... I'm running v4 (N950USQU4CRF3). Is root necessary to switch carriers, or is it as simple as flashing an AT&T firmware with a newer bootloader version than what I currently use?
Again, I know a lot of this information is out there, but there's just so much to comb through I thought it might be better to just ask in regards to my particular situation, in case I'm not understanding something correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi guys, I bought a used Note 9. The seller assured me it was gotten through TMobile and when I look at the package it came with, it has T-Mobile items in it
However apparently he inserted an ATT sim in it which apparently wiped the OS and made it AT&T. I have never heard about this sim profiling before. Right now, I cannot recieve SMS despite using the correct APN settings
What I want to do now, because I have no access to a TMobile sim is to try and install over this ROM with a TMobile ROM. How can I do this?
I was able to use ODIN in conjuction with N960USQU4ETF3_N960UOYN4ETF3_TMB which I got from Sammobile but the phone still has AT&T software instead of defaulting to TMobile. Why is this? It still acts like an AT&T phone despite me flashing over the OS

I bought a second-hand Verizon phone and custom service says it is locked to a Verizon account so it can't be used on any other SIM, even though the IMEI shows it is technically network unlocked (and they also confirmed it is network unlocked). I was thinking about rooting the phone and flashing it with new firmware, does anyone think that will remove the Verizon account lock since it is not network locked?
Thanks
just test it with another sim in it, you won't be able to root it in very high likelihood so just using as is pretty your only good choice (that doesn't involve selling it again).
a Verizon phone is the worst phone to buy as they never allow bootloader unlocking, so no root or anything else besides stock.
