I was looking at my phone and was wondering what that hole in the back was?

It's a microphone.
Sent from my Nexus 6
Android is run by tiny little Android mice inside the phone - this is an air hole for them to breathe through.
No air = No Android, so make sure not to block this hole under any circumstances (including with a case).

As strange as it sounds this is actually the correct answer. Mice are extremely efficient air to energy conversion ecosystems, and they are used primarily to provide enough power to the extra pixels of the QHD display in the Nexus 6. DO NOT COVER THE HOLE.
Is this the only microphone on this device?(one for noise canceling?) Or is there another one somewhere else, maybe in the lower speaker grille or something?

Truth is in BOLD.
Possibly a 3rd by the camera as others have stated (I can't comment since I haven't verified).

I've been searching on both the forum and net for suggestions on a bluetooth headset. I mostly see people suggesting a two ear headphone type, which does look nice. Unfortunately, I work with people a lot and wearing such a headset is a big no-no. I'll get complained on in a heartbeat. I would like something that can push music from my phone, take calls, and of course work with an HD2 on Energy roms. No headphone types please just take up one ear.
Any suggestions?

I got this Samsung WEP 870, the sounds quality is not bad consider that price tag is $30+. I used that for music and talk. You can also hook it with the stereo lanyard. Attached the link for reference.

I know I don't want be that guy. I work patrol and have to one ear on my unit's raido at all times. Thus, I wouldn't benefit from wearing stereo headphone in the unit. And just thinking of getting down on a call with headphones covering both ears makes we wonder how fast someone would call in to say, "he was listening to music and it's very disrespectful." It's one of things that sets policy and gets a guy canned. But, like I said before they look sweet.
Too bad your radio doesn't support blue tooth.
plantronics voyager 855 works well with either one ear or with the detachable stereo ear piece.
I recently replaced my digitizer and the housing after letting my precious nexus one fall on some rocks. Everything went relatively smooth but since the replacement the phone has a really really bad reception. I asume i made a mistake during the reassembly but i have no idea where the antennas are. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Kind regards.
Seems like this connection is a little loose, if necessary place a small piece of tape over it if it won't click together. Did the job just fine on mine

that is the gps antenna right? That one is propperly connected in my device.
I would like to know the location of the cell antenna.
I had the same problem. After I replaced the digitizer I could barley get a wireless signal but everything else worked perfect. I ending up selling it on ebay as a parts phone. Hope you find a solution.
The cell antenna should be at the bottom of the phone because I remember people complaining about how holding the bottom of the phone decreases the signal.

Ah sorry, as the above post said it's under the bottom part of the phone. Something could have been moved in the removal/replacing of the bottom part of the phone, it is awkward to get off.
I would assume it's all the copper colored metal inside the phone that acts as the antenna. mine is similarly plagued, it seems that after taking one apart, it doesn't quite work as well.
i barely touched the copper sheet.
Does anyone knows what this is?
(type "Antenna Flex Cable Ribbon Sticker" in google, i am not allowed to post urls yet )
I didnt saw these parts in my phone
I was taking some notes in the app Skitch and found out that I can't draw on the right edge of the screen. I only found this out recently since apps like S-Memo don't extend to full-screen so you can never write till the edge of the screen while in apps like Skitch and SBM you can utilize the entire screen.
Here's a pic for better explanation...

Please test this for me and post your results. It's been bugging the hell outta me! I'm thinking of going to the service centre.
Hi,
do you have any kind of cover with some magnets maybe ?
Magnetic fields affect the s-pen. I had a cover which had a magnet and it affected the s-pen
in a way I couldn't write in the edge close to the magnet....
pretty sure its a known issue

Nope. Just a plastic cover. Its frikkin annoying at times while taking notes!
since we are talking about the S-Pen here, i would like to know how to improve the accuracy of the S-Pen. i did a accuracy test and the pen was WAY OFF.
I tested some more and found out that there's a similar issue with the bottom edge of the screen, only much worse. There's a decent amount of area where the pen doesn't work.
As a request, could somebody please test this out? Try Skitch (or preferably Zen Brush or SketchBookMobile since they're completely full-screen). I've already tested on a friends Note and she doesn't have this problem. If I'm a lone case, I'll try the service centre.
EDIT: If someone does test this, try to draw along all the edges.
I was just about to make a new thread when I saw yours. I have the same issue.
I am right-handed and the phone's setting is set to right-handed, this is how it looks when I draw a line from the left side of the screen all the way to the right until the S-Pen disconnects from the screen:
You can clearly see that the line is cut-off ~0.5cm before the edge. If I hold the S-Pen in the left hand and drag a line from right-to-left, I get the same effect on the left side of the screen. Disappointing.
-EDIT: Oh, crap, I thought this was the Note 2 subforum.
Hello all,
I just noticed a dark spot when I'm taking a picture. First I thought the lens was just dirty but after cleaning it is still there.
Anybody experienced something like this? And more importantly how to fix this.
Sadly, I have no warranty so I cant send it to Sony.
You can change the lens, which means changing the back cover, which means you'll loose waterproofness if Sony doesn't do it.
The lens is plastic and can't be fixed, you can also remove this plastic lens with a needle apparently and continue using the camera, though this will also compromise the waterproofing.
This has been discussed in another thread if you want more details.

Yeah i've seen the other threads but those where more spots in the lens. I naively hoped that my situation was different. Oh well there goes the waterproof part.

You can buy some third party stickers to glue the back cover to the phone. They look like this:

I'll also glue mine with silicone gel along with said sticker when the time comes.

Oh wow never heard of that. Thnx for the tip!
This is unbelievable, I changed the whole backcover and the smidge is still there see http://imgur.com/XbUDQsA
Edit: I opened the phone again and took a picture without the back cover and it appears that the actual camera lens is causing the smidge.
Hi
Got an issue with my new DeX pad. I’ve got a tech 21 clear case of my Note 8. It’s not that bulky but I need to take it off to plug the DeX pad in. Bit annoying. Does anyone know of any extender that could use?
I’d get an a case that’s open at the bottom but I can’t see any good ones and I like the tech 21 case. So annoying.
Female to male type c.

for sure you didn't looked at photo. You can simply remove that plastic part that is around usb connector and move it higher... did you read that?

Yup. Didn't click it cuz I presumed you misread the OPs dilemma.
Click thru Photo reveals that you can indeed remove the plastic liner but I like the extender better because you leave it on and pop it in and out when needed. To each his own...
Thx
The OP posted that he has the dex pad, not the dex station, which makes both options above unusable. Personally, I'm going to be using a USB-C extension cable to solve the problem. Plugging the female end into the dex pad and the male end into the phone. This also gives the added benefit of having the dex pad hidden and not an eye-sore on my desk.
